Hello all,i have a bit of a problem here
Every keyboard i installed (installation went no probs) i cant enable it in settings cuz settings app crashes!!
Im not rooted now but i also tryed with root.having galaxy5 and running original 2.1-1
First i though its resolution problem cuz my screen is qvga but its not!
Just enabling it in settings app has nothing to do with it,and also people have told me that i should be able to show any keyboard,but because of resulution it may not be correctly showed (cutted on the edges) but i MUST be able to show it anyhow.
There are also keyboards on market which are compatible with my phone,cant enable even them.
Please,PLEASE someone help,im stuck with ****ty Samsung keyboard,and on swype i dont have my languge so im doomed.
If someone would point me out to Croatian swype (it exists but i cant find it) that would also solve the problem..i quess,if im frikin able to install even that.

I suppose this problem isn't directly concerning only my Topaz, that's why i place this threat in general forum.
Since about two hours my device hasn't got any letters! Sent a mms to a friend, everything was fine. Later tried to write my girl, but only numbers/digits show up in the editor... I don't know what I have done... Maybe some more informations would be helpful. I flashed a different ROM to my device, but I think that isn't the problem. I haven't had used Tweak HD before, then the problem showed up and everything a found was because of this program. So I installed it, activated T9, then disabled it, but the problem is still there. I get this problem, when I use the normal phone keypad.
Could anybody help please?

Can be closed!!! After the fourth or fifth softreset, it works again. Didn't change anything. But for whatever reason it works now.

i searched the forum and didn't find this problem having been posted. if it already has i apologize. anyhows so here's the deal
i have a nice fuze. i had to hard reset last week. as i was installing the new programs i noticed something, my favorites tab all the sudden dissappeared. so what'd i do? i fired up tf3d config and made sure that the favorites/people tab was checked....sure enuf it was. so i checked in the advanced config program....same thing. so i hard reset again.
the tab showed up again and i went thru installing my programs one by one again. but this time, i waited a day after each program....well guess what....same problem showed up. what i had installed before the glitch:
.net 3.5 (er whatever the newest one is, im pretty sure its 3.5)
advanced config (hadn't tweaked anything yet)
diamond tweak (hadn't tweaked anything yet)
tf3d config (hadn't tweaked anything yet)
galarm
after glaram i noticed it was gone...so i uninstalled galarm...but it didn't fix the problem. so i hard reset again and went thru the same process but stoped after tf3d config...sure enuf a day or so later it dissappeared again :s
so i contined my installs and set everything else up. sure i can live w/out the favorites tab but i like it...so does anyone have any suggestions? (i think i may search the different themes for tf3d that i can install via tf3d config an see if that helps)
i have the stock rom from at&t.

I have been looking for awhile but can't seem to find the answer that is more than likely in the form of a big billboard somewhere on the site (full n00b to this).
I have an HTC tilt and am trying to disable the 3g so it works better on the Tmobile network. I was looking to download the Comm manager in the link here but can't seem to get it install because of a system permissions error. I am not sure why, or how to clear the issue.
Any advice?
Have you tryed installing after a soft-reset? Normally that means that files are in use.

Just want to start off by saying i love my new phone.. I got it used off another person who made some changes to it. Well the only thing i dont like is the keyboard is off. Meaning some of the keys are wrong and a few dont work.
I know it is unlocked and has windows 6.5 . Only other info i get on boot up is ROMeOS 3.0.1.WM6.5. Is there a fix for the keyboard in a newer update or a keyboard mapper.

Nevermind. Somemore searching and i found the fix.
First off i live in New Zealand and i imported the captivate because i preferred it over the standard galaxy s phone we have over here.
Since i received it however i have noticed a few software issues which i am needing help with or wondering if theres a stock GT-i9000 rom?
The issues are as follows:
No Swype keyboard, came with 'Chinese keyboard'. i have sinced installed a keyboard form the marketplace
No Accelerometr/gyro. When trying to access game or apps that require it they say it cannot be detected. furthurmore i cannot put the phone into landscape mode when sending an SMS for example to flip the keyboard
The ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor are same as above, they either do not work or arent detected
The phone cannot connect to Kies or any computer in general. It worked once where i could access the external SD card through my computer, but when trying to get it to connect to any computer simply nothing happens, even when windows says its succesfully installed drivers it cannot find it.
As you can see thats alot of issues. It also crashes when i try to access 'mobile AP' in the settings menu. The phone came rooted without any samsung apps, widgets, wallpapers or anything else that it should have. There is also a app called 'superuser permission' which i believe is related to it being rooted?
So what i'm thinking the most logical choice is to somehow install android again, but with a fully functioning OS (e.g. accelerometer, swype etc). im not looking for anything fancy, preferably just stock andorid 2.1.
Since i cannot properly connect to a computer how would i backup all my data on it? And since its being used in New zealand, not america (its been unlocked) will doing this unlock it?
im sort of a noob at all this and haven't had any help from anyone yet.
P.S sorry if ive got spelling mistakes and what not, i wrote this in a rush before bed

I don't have the technical knowledge to help you that much with your inquiry.
It seems like your phone has a lot of problems with one you just imported. Are you sure that the place you got the phone from is reliable?
