If your phone is on this list please test it out and tell me if works and if it does not work please let me know so i can fix that as well. I would like to get an compatibility list started and work on getting it functioning on most all the Android Based phones.
I written this because when I requested a android based Version Cancer informed me that it would be a lot of work to make a app that works on all phones so i decided to take this into my own hands. I have also contacted Cancer and told him about this I am still awaiting his response though.
This is a FREE PROGRAM for your Android Based Smart-phones It is compatible with most Android 1.5 phones up to the Most recent Android 2.2
This PROGRAM is not affiliated with the Dark Network nor is it with Vampire Rave.
I am just a programmer who just want to do his part and support the Android phone users to give them a way to get vampire rave on there mobile phones and have quick access to the site and give them basic controls for fast and easy access to the site.
right now the menu section of the app just give you quick access to the main page and message center. more features to come.
For Best results use this on Froyo Phones to enable flash on this program
I will be setting up a home for the application on my website when I get some time at Crazy Droid Roms once I get this fully functioning on my phone instead of the emulator.
The first thing I know I will do though is to try and get the source code either on my git-hub account or in the SVN on the Sourceforge account.
Beta Testers Download the Client
Download Vampire Rave Beta 4
Programmers to View the Source Code here in case they wish to submit a patch and or if you just want to know what the code looks like.
Git Repository Here
I built in a Donate Button into the menu in case anyone wishes to donate but it is not required at all or do i even care if anyone Donates at all as I am just doing this because I love Vampire Rave and just want to do my part in making this place even better for Android Smart-phone Users.
In the Release on the menu Screen when you hit the menu key on your android Device i just added Home and Message Center to the menu for quick access to the main page on VR and Your Message Center.
By Request I will add more features like a Dashboard key or Forums if you guys wish them.
I am thinking of Creating a Separate Client for Premium Users as they have more options then the Free Accounts as to keep the Clients clean of options that you cannot use as a free member compared to the options you can as a paid member.

I have setup a website for the project @ http://vampireravemobile.co.cc which is just a shell at the moment and I hop to have it setup completly within the next few months between development and work.

1. What is VampireRave.com?
VampireRave.com is the largest online database about everything vampire. We endeavor to catalog everything and anything about vampires.
2. Why do you do this?
The Vampire has always held my utmost fascination. Search as I might, I couldn't find a comprehensive online database about vampire fact, fiction, and lore. There are some very good websites out there (and some very poor ones too!), but no all-inclusive one-stop sites. So I made my own.
3. What does my 'Status' mean?
When you sign up for a free Vampire Rave account, the system tracks your site usage. As you spend more time here, your status increases. Special privileges are granted at higher status levels. Having a higher status means your ratings carry more weight throughout the site. Future site features are planned that will more heavily utilize the status system. You can read more about Status Levels here.
The top two positions, Master Vampire and The Prince, are administrator positions and users with these positions administer and maintain this website.

Vampire Rave Mobile is a Android application for Vampire Rave
Vampire Rave is the social networking website for vampires and goths. We are a home for real vampires across the globe. If you're looking for a darker gothic or vampire social network, you've found it.
Vampire Rave was designed as an online resource for the vampire community. Our goal is to catalog everything there is to be cataloged about vampires. This is an immense task and we have a long way to go. With your help we will become the largest vampire database, resource, and community on the Internet.

Hey there, you can add LG E400 to you list. Installed for Test, and it works fine.

which one(s) of these books would you guys recommend to a new developer who has very little programing experience. or just what books would you recommend in general to someone who wants to develop andriod apps.
if i missed any books feel free to notify me.

Hello Android I think would be a good book for a beginner. I Google the samething cuz I am also a beginner. About 90% of the people pick Hello Android program to do applications. It seems from my research that Hello Android programming program is the most simple to learn for non programmer that wants to create applications for Android OS.
hello andriod is a rly simple tutorial from andriod devlopers, they also have a bunch of others and a complex notepad tutorial which is very helpfull. but i need something that covers MUCH more area.
thats why im looking into a book, from reading online this one seems to be very good paragmatic Hello Android 2nd edition. i also found begining andriod 2. and a few others, but these 2 seem to be the best books for beginners.
how skilled are you in java? if you're a beginner i would highly recommend reading the book 'head first java' as most android books assume a decent knowledge of java.
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
well the begining andriod 2 says:
"Who is this book for?
This book is aimed at people new to mobile development, perhaps even to Java development itself.
"
and the other book i mentiod by pargamtic says
"Who Should Read This Book?
The only requirement is a basic understanding of programming in Java
or a similar object-oriented language (C# will do in a pinch). You don’t
need any prior experience developing software for mobile devices. In
fact, if you do, it’s probably best if you try to forget that experience.
Android is so different that it’s good to start with an open mind."
i dont seem to be that confused with the hello andriod and notepad tutorial. i also made a flashligh app, learned how to make a menu,buttons.
I'm a reasonably experienced self taught C programmer who's since taken a few software engineering related classes including Java, but I still have no practical experience with OO or Java & none at all with Android. I looked at the Android books available & decided despite a tight budget I'd really need something to cover Java in addition, but then I do like material to be comprehensive.
I've recently picked up Thinking in Java by Bruce Eckel & Professional Android 2 Application Development by Reto Meier (on your list). So far they both look very readable & I'm happy with my choices, but then likes vary a lot depending on one's learning style.
I've also not had them for long so can't offer any deeper comment. Perhaps it would be a good idea to post back in six months, after you've made your choices, to give a thumbs up or down then. Not that that helps you much right now
Unlocking Android
There are a number of good Android programming books. I am one of the authors of Unlocking Android from Manning. We are working on an updated version to cover 2.x specific features.
The books by Mark Murphy are pretty good as well as Wrox's. I believe Chris Haseman's book came out very early and is largely out of date.
Our book is geared towards an experienced Java developer -- if you don't know Java, I would start there. Our approach is to go a little out of the box and cover things that you won't simply find by reading the SDK documents.
Also, I have some Android articles over at Linux Magazine that may be of some interest to you. linux-mag dot com. { Apparently I cannot post a link as a newly registered user }
Good luck with your Android experience.

update: I just got the book "hello, android" from amazon. trust me man, i don't know why this **** was rated so high but this is trash. it basically uses a sudoku example to explain the entire aspects of android. i learned more on the internet in one day then this entire book.
i give this a -1
Right now I am learning just general Java programming language. I was told to learn as much of this as I can at first. And then to look at Android development and learn the differences between the general Java language and Android specific Java programming. And then learn about XML developing in Android.
But I'm trying and taking it at my own pace. I really cannot afford to go out and buy these kinds of books so I am finding online books/textbooks about Java for the moment and reading and practicing as much as I can in Eclipse.

How To Keep Your Android Phone From Being Hacked By Malicious Apps

Steve Kovach | Mar. 3, 2011, 10:11 AM
Yesterday we told you about the 21 malicious apps Google yanked from the Android Market.
Now at least 30 more have been discovered and removed. These apps are designed to gain root access to your phone and steal information such as your carrier ID. It also opens up your phone to even more malicious code.
Many of the apps have seemingly innocuous names like "Scientific Calculator" or raunchy ones like "Super Sex Positions." If you're ever in doubt about an app, err on the side of caution and don't download it.
One of our commenters pointed out a free Android app called Lookout that will scan anything you download to your phone for malware. We've used Lookout before, but haven't found a need for it until now.
Download it for free in the Android Market and allow it to run in the background. Lookout will notify you if it finds a virus or malware on your phone.
So far, it looks like three developers are responsible for the malicious apps. If you see an app from we20090202, Kingmall2010, or Myournet do not download it.
Here's the list of the malicious apps from Lookout's blog that have been identified so far:
* Falling Down
* Super Guitar Solo
* Super History Eraser
* Photo Editor
* Super Ringtone Maker
* Super Sex Positions
* Hot Sexy Videos
* Chess
* 下坠滚球_Falldown
* Hilton Sex Sound
* Screaming Sexy Japanese Girls
* Falling Ball Dodge
* Scientific Calculator
* Dice Roller
* 躲避弹球
* Advanced Currency Converter
* App Uninstaller
* 几何战机_PewPew
* Funny Paint
* Spider Man
* 蜘蛛侠
* Bowling Time
* Advanced Barcode Scanner
* Supre Bluetooth Transfer
* Task Killer Pro
* Music Box
* Sexy Girls: Japanese
* Sexy Legs
* Advanced File Manager
* Magic Strobe Light
* 致命绝色美腿
* 墨水坦克Panzer Panic
* 裸奔先生Mr. Runner
* 软件强力卸载
* Advanced App to SD
* Super Stopwatch & Timer
* Advanced Compass Leveler
* Best password safe
* 掷骰子
* 多彩绘画
* Finger Race
* Piano
* Bubble Shoot
* Advanced Sound Manager
* Magic Hypnotic Spiral
* Funny Face
* Color Blindness Test
* Tie a Tie
* Quick Notes
* Basketball Shot Now
* Quick Delete Contacts
* Omok Five in a Row
* Super Sexy Ringtones
* 大家来找茬
* 桌上曲棍球
* 投篮高手

oh man... I thought this might be helpful info for us here. be careful with leaked apps as well. You never know if they've been modified in some way. You could be opening up your phone to an exploit.
Great!

See, that to me is ridiculous on google's part.
Applications need to be vetted, if that slows down the app population growth then so be it.
I'm pretty sure that the MS Marketplace doesn't just let people upload apps to it as when an excellent train timetable app stopped working and needed an update, MS took ages to allow the update onto the marketplace (I would imagine they were somewhat tied up prepping for the release of WP7 which makes sense).
If an app that runs on our phones is able to detect such malware, then why can't google even impliment an auto scan on uploads to the market?
I've always been cautious of the market as I've suspected that apps aren't vetted, the official sources of apps HAVE to be safe no matter what OS
does anyone know if your gmail password gets stored anywhere in the phone, just alittle curious, cause if they can only get my phone number and email address
Very nice, thanks for the info!!!
Will download and give this a test run. Btw some of those raunchy apps, maybe they shouldn't have dl'd them in the first place. D=
What's lacking in all the commentary is how to check whether your device has indeed been infected.
Now I didn't have the various raunchy/boob/japanese school girl apps installed, but I may have had the scientific calculator installed as well as Advanced Barcode Scanner (I need to check when I get home).
Sod's law says that the one time I boot Android in weeks (device is normally being used for Meego/Ubuntu development) I get a virus.
This article gives some information about what the installer does:
http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2011/03/03/droid-dream-android-market-malware-attack-aftermath/
So I guess I should check and see what services are now running, see the names of the app publishers, etc. to determine whether I am indeed infected.
Thank you for share,, I install only market applications, have a lot of apps and i only install applications if are a cracked version of an application available on market
Will antiviruses sold on the market particularly help protect you from malware?
I heard a while back that antiviruses on Android weren't essential...
I believe you guys should give Lookout a bit more credit, too.
Their website offers a great service if you actually sign up and use it.
They have a free "Phone-Finder" service that actually works very well.

Thank you for your replies.
Looking forward to a review.
My goal was to make the best blackjack game for Android.
IMHO, I have done a good job.
Please hit me with some suggestions, critics how and where to improve.
Compliments are also welcome
Regards,
Damir.
Very impressive.
Coming from someone in the business that understands the math behind this game, ubj3d is the most detailed BJ game/trainer I have found for android and I've only used the lite version simply peeking at all the options available in the full version. If anyone wants to hone your BJ skills (like to the point where you can come out here and I will back you off ) this would be a good start.
Bravo, great game/app!!!

[App] FXCM Forex Trading Station HD (Tabs only)

Hello,
I’ve come across yet to be released forex trading app that FXCM is working on for the ipads and android tablets. It has the look and feel of their Trading Station platform, and is light years ahead of their current mobile offering. A few things I noticed different:
* Stream rates, Equity, PnL
* More Advanced charting – candles, timeframes, pinch+zoom, open/closed positions – hopefully we will see indicators in the future
* Ability to place stops and limits on entry orders, even trailing stops
* Supports lamms and multiple accts under one login
* Symbol subscription and reordering –available in settings
* Rollover
To login you'll need to have a demo account. You can get one for free here:
http://www.fxcm.com/free-forex-trading-demo.jsp
To download the apk (1.8MB) click here:
*** NOTE: For Adndroid tabs only. Does not fit phone screens well. ***

Screenshots are attached.
Enjoy it!
I am very anxious to try it as market version is rubbish. Could you please reupload it. Thanks in advance.

[4.1+][FUN][TOY]Trycorder[Tool][Open-Source][Tricorder][2017-04-10] Full Trycorder

The new Trycorder 5.2.3 is in the download section on top of this page
Now with Trycorder5, The Trycorder is connecting with a central server who receive every orders from planetary trycorders. Those orders are logged, and executed on the server. (Some Text-To-Voice system here translate your action into an audible message on the bridge (the development computer area))
The Main Intelligence of the central server can respond to you.
Download : http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=15530#downloads
Screenshots : http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=15530#screenshots
Manual : https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=22505
For the non-trekkies, a Trycorder is a portable measuring tool, communication tool, and remote-control tool for your Starship.
This is an itch I had to scratch for a long time.
I wanted a full fledged trycorder without announcements, free as a beer, and free public code.
I did'nt found what i was searching for, so I made one.
The wish to have a full trycorder was so strong, I had to Learn Java, Learn Android-Studio, Learn Android Programming, starting with a classic "Hello World!" program, Learn Activities, Fragments, Permissions, and the rest, and all of this Before I started a single line of my project.
After 3 long and painful months, I finally started the project, and drived it to a version 1.0, where I decided to share my fun with others.
With this Trycorder, You can do the following:
- Look, feel, and sound like the federation trycorder.
- Fits in your pocket, so you can beam out on demand.
- Scan your environment, temperature, pressure, light, magnetic, gravity, orientation,...
- Control the device by voice-command. (Press top left, and say "computer fire" or "computer beam me up" for example)
- Take pictures and recordings from your findings on new planets.
- Remote control your own starship, fire, communications, shields, transporter, viewer, ...
(You have to provide the starship, and make sure it is on the wifi router that you use).
- Consult logs of operations. View the pictures and recordings you got back from your away mission.
- View Magnetic, Orientation, Gravity, Temperature sensors values drawn in the sensor area.
- View Phaser, Torpedo, Transporter operation in your sensor screen.
- View Shields, Communication Waveform, Tractor Beam sensor animation on your sensor screen.
- The application is usable in space, provided your phone is space-proof, and you wear a space-suit.
- The application can be adapted easily for different starships remote protocols.
- For captains only: Crew Information and Evaluation module. (to be found under logs/crew) (Contacts access)
- The communication module is real and functionnal between all trycorders on the planet and in orbit as long you are connected to the public internet.
- And many more to come ...
Here it is.
Download the APK, and install from here in the Downloads section (on top of this page).
or Download the sources on github and have fun with android studio (Download link below).
Dont forget to come back here and give me your advice, comments, appreciations or depreciations as well.
And if you have some ideas to propose, or code to submit, i would be glad to add it to the main trycorder application.
Tested on:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250): CyanogenMod 6.0.1, CyanogenMod 5.1.1
Motorola Moto-G (XT-1032): CyanogenMod 6.0.1, CyanogenMod 4.4.4
Samsung Ace-II (GT-S7560M): CyanogenMod 4.4.4
LG P705g: Stock 4.0.3 (unrooted plain stock)
Tablet Datawind 7Ci, Android-4.1
Please tell me of your success so i can add to the list of tested phones.
Remember: Every button has a function, and every surface is used and clickable. some functions may not be obvious, like speech recognition that you activate by clicking in the top left corner in the curve. (just try "fire" , "beam me up", "and others you think of..." , or read the source code for a complete list of words who trigger actions.)
The trycorder contains more than 40 operating buttons, 9 animations, dozens of sounds, around 8 sensors, speech recognition and voice interaction, and a new captains-only crew evaluation and information module, now, at version 1.9.1
Have FUN !!!
For those who have a Force-Close on first opening, make sure your android device is setup this way.
Have Google Text-to-Speech installed and running in default us-english (and more if you need)
Have Google voice recognition active for us-english (and more if you need)
Have Google map installed (optionnal but nice to locate yourself on the current planet)
Have Location service Enabled (GPS)
Have Wifi operationnal (for info about your internet connection in the info panel, and location service)
Allow all five permissions that the application ask for.
For those who write android code too, this trycorder is made of hundreds of differents examples
in the differents forums i follow. This is a good example of over-populated buttons groups, with a lot of
examples applications all mixed together, trying to look like to a useful tool.
This fantastic tool, helped me learn everything (hum! almost) in android where I had an itch for.
Now people on XDA have a fantastic toy, to play with, learn in, and impress friends.

Trycorder functions
Here is what this Trycorder can do.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Look, feel and sound like a real one.
Use your phone sensors to scan your environment.
Use your camera to detect alien lifeforms.
Respond to voice commands.
Control almost fully every operations of your orbiting starship, by remote control.
You can beam up to your ship autonomously, (you have to provide the starship).
And a lot of other scientific functions.
In fact, you can fly around the galaxy with it, and use it on every planet you wish,
provided that this planet is part of the federation, and have a GPS satellite system.
If your phone is Space-Proof(tm) , you can even use it in space outside the starship
(use of a Space-Suit is recommended for use in space)

Thank you for that. Just an FYI... When using the XDA mobile app, the download section doesn't show up. At least for me anyway. Now that I am on a PC, I see the download section and the link. Downloading now

this application need a lot of permissions, on MM you have to set the permissions yourself
go to:
Settings -> Apps -> Trycorder -> Permissions
and then give all permission requested
I wish i could find a way to set it automatically,
with KitKat and Lolipop the problem do not happen

Good News.
This morning I uploaded version 1.5, who manage permissions automatically.
Please try again with this version, the FC should be solved.
I tried version 1.5 and it just force closes when you start the app, I'm using HTC M9 marshmallows all stock.

The version 1.7 is out.
Its supposed to solve all Force-Close. (mainly due to speech recognition)
Let me know of your success or bugs.
Wow! the 1.8 version is out. I will take a pause before the version 1.9.0.
mainly this version contains no specific changes from 1.7, and is declared stable enough for mass production.
I am working now on a brand new extension to the trycorder, (for captains only), and will keep it a secret for now.
The trycorder contains more than 40 operating buttons, 9 animations, dozens of sounds, around 8 sensors, speech recognition and voice interaction now, at version 1.8
Have FUN !!!
The version 1.9.0 just hit the Download area. (for captains only)

I will be back with starship inventory module. (hopefully)
If some of you have success running the application, please report to me ,
so i can know what you like or not.
