Here are some custom easy boot animations. - Droid X Themes and Apps

First things first. Make a backup.
Now, here are a few of my boot animations made as a simple update.zip. You NEED to be rooted, and just apply these in bootstrap recovery as a .zip and they *should* work.
****EDIT*** I updated all the mega uploads on the first page.. If there is no link, its because i lost the file when i erased off megaupload, and I NEED somebody to email me the files of whoever had
the Rick Roll
Star Wars
Blue lightning
Bed Intruder.
If you have those files, please PM me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENWu4i652g0
This is a update.zip. Just apply with bootstrapper or equivalent.

Is anybody having problems were the boot animation image gets stuck over the lock screen. The phone will still function normally but the first lock screen looks like the last image in the boot animation. Im using a different animation then these with rubix 1.0 thought I could start here for help. Thank you.

Yes, that started a little after the 2.2 update for me though. It did become more prevalent with my new animations, but after a full 2.2SBF (which i performed to clean out my phone, and start anew) that just came out, on the first boot, the original animation stayed on the screen.

This one was a small request, this takes the rotten apple I found and mixes it to the Blue Lightning Droid X eye. Intalls as a update.zip through bootstrap.

I've been trying to apply the Star Wars animation but I can't figure it out. If someone could post detailed instructions on how to apply it that would be awesome.

Figured that this is pretty simple, and that the majority of you guys can do this, but I pulled the bootanimation.zip out of the 2.2 rom that's floating around, and put it here by itself.
Place it in /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip

I need to do that via adb push correct? Can you give me the code so I don't screw it up? I'm fresh into Android from WinMo.

why didn't this just get posted in one of the several boot animation threads there already is?
if you had read those, you'd see that not only is the original nexus bootanimation IN that thread already, but there's also a modified version that looks a little better on this screen, despite the fact that they're the same resolution.

Cool boot screen. It's customized for the Droid though as it states "Motorola Droid" and lists the processor as Omap.
Tried this in recovery (guessing since you don't have system rw access in nominal ops). Now it seems to not have worked, I copies it fine with
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
Unless I am doing something wrong, which I am sure I am. Hints?

[Q] Splash screen help??

Ok devs or whoever....
I am looking for some info and apparently i couldnt find any.. (this where u make me look like an @ss and send me a link or not)
I was able to flash a splash screen (very first screen u see when booting up) on both my G1 and M3GS but havent on my G2 or G2x.. Whats in entail to do so the the G2X... To change the first screen...(aka trinity when u flash morfics kernel)
I read somewhere that the boot.img needs to be split to do so... ??? ... Any info would be nice...... Subtle hints to the right whereabouts for this info would be nice to....
Use root explorer and go into system> media. In that file you'll see bootanimation.zip. You can change that out with another .zip of your choosing and rename it bootanimation.zip. This was how it was done with the Vibrant and I would think it would be the same with the G2X.
Ok Charlie ill check it out... thought that was just the boot animation though without splash screen. Mmk though

This is worth the $1 or whatever it is in sooooo many ways. Look at the related apps too (boot installer)... dude... you have no idea the simplicity of this and how clean each install was (I have tried probably 20+ of the boots and was able to customize by ripping one of the zip packets off the SD.... it shows the split too in the zip file.

...oohhhh... I missed that clarification. Ok so you want to change the "LG" splash just before the bootani starts... let me look, I gotta get back to you though... I came across that a while back and the instructions that the dev dropped with it didn't work but I tweaked it and got it. I gotta dig..
Yay the lg screen before bootanimation....
From what I read its un boot.img and that needs to be unpacked which would meen that every new rom flashed would have to b edited I assume

Yeah I can see it when I dig with root explorer and then throw the .rle in my drop box. I looked for that installer and was hitting blanks but I will find it today and also tweak that graphics archive. GIve me a few to diddle.
I also have a ViewSonic GTablet, which is also a Tegra 2 device. See this procedure:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/162...logos-replace-viewsonic-logo-g-tabletzpad-t2/
Basically you use nvflash to put a bitmap file on a specific partition.
THE ABOVE PROCEDURE WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR G2X, but it's a starting point to figure out how to do it on the G2x.
Hey IB you make any progress?

[Q] Custom Boot Animations?

Hi everyone. I just recently bought an infuse after leaving tmobile and going with at&t and was wondering if anyone has/ knows how to put custom boot animations on the infuse? I had one on from Dysgenic on my MyTouch slide and it tried it on the infuse but it doesnt work. Any ideas?
How exactly did you try it? Did you throw bootanimation.zip into /system/media ?
it uses a proprietary .qmg file, nobody has successfully made a custom one. support for bootanimation.zip needs to be written into the kernel. we really need a kernel dev.
sounds and shutdown animations on the other hand should be simple
i killed off those files, to atleast get rid of the att logo thing. instead of defaulting to the android default animation, like any other phone would, its just black. dont really care though. although i imagine when we get proper roms going, we will have it switched back to bootanimation.zip.
I have a custom boot animation working using the Captivate work-around (replace playlogo and playlogos1 with bootanimation). It only shows up for the last two seconds before going to the lockscreen, but it works. We won't be seeing proper support until a kernel developer gets working on it.

do you write a script into those files that reads the boot animation or just name the boot animations playlogo and playlogos1? i think eugene373 and the early lagfix's used those to run user scripts untill kernels were developed that supported init.d scripts

So on the Infuse you were able to successfully able to get rid of the boot animation? I don't wanna see my world, delivered, hehe.
@dani897: I just copied bootanimation twice and renamed them playlogo and playlogos1 (backups made, of course). Personally, a black screen with a second or two of Honeycomb boot animation at the end is better than the AT&T animation. I haven't done a lot of research on the topic of QMG/zip boot animations though.
i know there are kernel mods to do it properly, was wondering if there was a dirty hack job way to do it. i never knew that worked at all just renaming the files like that.
anybody have the stock boot animations for something like the galaxy s2?
If you want to get geeky with your boots animation try live dmesg by chainfire in market.

Yes, unfortunately this will only work for stock-based ROMs. CM boot method is different from stock. It uses a set of individual images in sequence for animation while stock uses a single qmg file (that is basically a compiled set of images).

This zip has jpg files. Doesn't the Verizon s3 need a bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg replacement? I'm looking for a boot animation replacement but can't find any. I would appreciate a link if you know of one.
Rom Toolkit didn't work for me. Perhaps only some of the animations work on the s3 but I didn't feel like installing and trying them all out. If you've used Rom toolkit and got it working, which animation did you use?

The zip file contains those. You have to place them in the proper directories. With some roms the boot animations don't have to be qmg though.
To use ROM toolbox I believe you need to have a Rom with init.d support.

[Bootanimaion]Mahdi ROM bootanimation to replace stock

Hey XDA
I just spent a good few minutes making my first ever boot animation and wanted to share it with you guys !
I've been using Mahdi ROM since day one on my G2, and have decided that as much as I like the stock google boot animation, I would much rather see an animation representing the custom ROM that I am using (apart from this very minor thing I think this ROM is perfect, I've pushed a score of 33000 on antutu and can get 40 hrs battery life with regular usage!)... It's probably just an OCD thing, but I think a custom ROM feels more unique with its own boot animation.
Like I said; This is my first ever boot animation made from scratch so it is very basic, but that was one of my prerequisites, and I like it, so I hope you do too!
To install, in case you're newer than me to this, you simply copy the file from your download folder to /system/media and rename he old boot animation to .bak or anything you like.
Download below, Thanks guys!
EDIT; THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH LG STOCK BASED ROMS

Awesome thanks guys
Nicer than the google boot animation. See if he will implement this into his rom.
The only problem I have with this is that there are not enough frames, it looks very choppy. The sliding white bar is okay, could do with a few more frames to make it super smooth. Apart from that it looks so sexyy
Thnks fot the feedback! Its not a lack of frames, its kust very rushed so some frames move the bar slightly more than other frames.
If i find some spare time Ill see if i can fix it up a little!
Thank you sir.

You'll need to get into TWRP and use the file manager to replace your original boot animation or restore a system backup at this point. I suggest using Bootbox from the play store to install new boot animations in the future.

Don't ever modify important system files without a custom recovery - this is a lesson to learn. The easiest thing for you to do now is run your stock recovery and factory reset your phone. If you decide to root again, install FreeGee and flash TWRP. Then run backups. (by the way, NEVER wipe your internal storage) If you decide to change your boot animation, use Bootbox from the playstore - it will do it for you and in most cases will not cause a bootloop. Good luck :good:

(by the way, NEVER wipe your internal storage) If you decide to change your boot animation, use Bootbox from the playstore - it will do it for you and in most cases will not cause a bootloop. Good luck :good:

Yep tried the hard reset on the phone and the bad bootanimnation is still there and hanging. Will have to revert completely to stock when I get home to connect to my laptop. That seems like that should work. I hope

Can you access adb or fastboot? If you can access fastboot you could use:
fastboot flash recovery [recovery name here]
To flash twrp recovery and use the integrated file manager
Also, this will not work with stock (non AOSP) ROMs because LG uses a different boot animation system. Will update the OP to warn future people
