If anyone finds a website that sells a dock (for charging) that support the Desire S (and its nonstandard micro-USB plug location) then please let me know. Thanks.
See it: kidigi.com/product_lv2.php?pid=1279
i remember seeing a blackberry phone with the same location for it's charger, you have to place it down the dock sideways.

There are now a few showing up on Ebay for the desire s.......
Can anyone confirm if the dock works OK if the phone has a case...ie. Otterbox commuter or Barely there case?...thanks
I bought one of ebay.
Works fine, the phone lays on its side and plugs into the charger.
I got the one with a spare battery charger at the back.
Fits well and at about £12.00 good value.
The blue led on top is very bright, I have mine beside my bed so as to use the phone as an alarm clock, so I had to tape over the LED. Or have a blue ceiling.

Could you post a link to the dock, please.

Here's the dock I have.
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?index=4&nav=SEARCH&nid=04031654468&itemId=120722797935
I have a cheap skin on my phone which is fairly chunky so it won't fit in the charger with the skin on.
A thinner skin may work.
But its not a problem slipping it off to fit on the dock.

Seen this on Amazon:
Clingo Desktop Stand Dock Holder For HTC Desire S
(can't post link as I'm a nube!)
but again it may not stick with a case on. Anyone got experience of using Clingos?
They are on ebay as well.
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from...lingo+Desktop+Stand&_sacat=See-All-Categories
Its not a dock but a stand.
No charging and relies on a special sticky surface to hold the phone.
So you have to use a charger as well.
Gordon
Gordon,
Do they work with cases? The website doesnt give much info re this. I presume silicon cases wouldnt work. I see they do car mounts aswell...could b handy. Thanks

Generally docks wont allow a case to be fitted. For those in the UK, I recommend Mobilefun for phone accessories. Here are their line-up of Desire S docks...
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/cat/Desire-S-Desktop-Chargers.htm
Due to the placement of the USB socket on the LHS though, the docks all seem to require you have the phone in landscape mode. Fine for watching vids, browsing etc, but Sense 2.1 still doesn't rotate the home screens when in landscape mode so not decided on getting one yet. There's always Launcher Pro I suppose.
No the one Ive got doesnt work with a case on.
Theres one on mobilefun looks the same as mine but more expensive by quite a bit.

I've tried Clingos with a Desire in a case - frankly I wouldn't bother.
I spent more time catching mine as it tumbled to the floor than watching the road(!).
If you don't have a case it's not too bad although I'd probably say that it held on for around 60% of the time. Great idea and probably better on a desk or stationary surface. Ideally you should be able to lay it flat too....
I got mine from Mobilefun and their customer service assured me it would be "fine". Normally MobileFun are a fine supplier but on this occasion....
I'll be taking their advice with several pinches of salt in future.
+1 on that.
Those clingy holders only work on cool days and on smooth surfaces. On a warm day going around a roundabout.....you instinctively take your eyes of the road to catch your phone....you just can't trust em. They are perfectly good as desk holders though. You dont go around many corners at them.

it only mentions desire HD once as far as i can see.
everything else says desire s, including the image.
i'm assuming that the dock is either similar or identical to the one for the desire hd and they just copy pasted the page, but missed a reference to the desire hd.
EDIT: there's a second desire s dock on that site and the description mentions the HD7.
I found this

I found a pretty cool car mount for the Sensation for use with the TMoUS Body Glove case. What is nice about it is the sticky pad holder is it eliminates the need to clamp the device. I also drilled a hole in the mount so I could keep the belt clip stud installed. Found the holder at WalMart but online it is a few bucks cheaper. It is the Scosche model IUHD.
A little hot glue on the back holds the charge cord to plug it in easily. My next task is to route the cord so it is mostly hidden.
Nice! Lookin cool, like the creativity! Im getting my HTC Car Dock soon from Expansys, might do some pics when I install it in my car.
Went to Verizon and bought the car dock for the HTC Thunderbolt, then installed the Car Home App from my G2. So far, been working okay and goes directly to car mode. Only problem so far is that the volume rocker is on that side and turning the volume down when you push it to hard to the USB connection

Does the sensation fit snugly in it? I thought the Thunderbolt was not the same size. The Thunderbolt one is 1/3 the price of the Sensation dock. I wouldn't mind cutting out a small piece to get access to the volume rocker.
The Sensation did fit snugly on it. What's good is that it goes to the charge/car mode once you plug the phone to the cradle and back to the main screen when I turn off my bluetooth enabled radio

I don't think the phone with any type of case would fit as the well on the cradle fits the phone perfectly.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Hm, doesn't seem like it's easy to look at where it's at. The mount itself looks pretty nice though, not much to complain about with it. Is it pretty solid build quality? I've seen some that look good, but seem like they'll fall apart if you hit a speed bump.
Completely unrelated: How's the Volt treating you so far?
The volt? My friend has the thunderbolt and battery life is horrible. The sensation has a much better battery life so far

So you didn't need to modify the dock at all? And how snug is snug? Do you have to force it in?
I'm thinking about stopping by Verizon to get a dock tonight and just want to be sure. I've measured the Droid X and Atrix docks as well using online specs, but the Thunderbolt seems to be the nearest fit. (if anyone cares - the DX is the same size but the usb is backward and slightly off from the Sensation's location)
I also have a HTC Thunderbolt with a car dock. I have not tried my sensation in it yet as I have only had it two days. I can tell you the car dock mount from Verizon is good and I use mine everyday.
So if my Sensation works in the same mount I will be happy.
I just picked up the thunderbolt dock and it fits very well. You have to push just a wee bit to get the micro USB to connect, but not enough to do any damage.

It is snug, I only placed a piece of plastic in the back to keep the phone straight as the sensation is slimmer than the thunderbolt. It keeps it from rocking back and forth

I bought the Amazon one and am the second reviewer of it. The one thing I forgot to mention is how bright the LED is. It literally lit up my room at night and I could walk around as if I had a nightlight on. I cover it with electrical tape and problem solved. I also edited that review.

This is perhaphs a stupid questions but just wanna be sure since the last time I bought a dock for my HTC Sensation, it came with two different cables - one for data transfer/syncing and another for charging and neither would do both at the same time which was obviously not what I wanted and so had to return it and all that drama.
My question is - Does this dock allow you to do data transfer/sync and charge the device at the same time?
Thanks!

I have this dock and the Diztronic case. It will NOT fit with the case on. It makes the phone too thick and just slightly too long to line up with the USB port.

I don't know. I don't use a case on mine. But how thick is the side on that case? It probably wouldn't without taking the case off.
EDIT : I tried my brothers One S on my dock because his has a silicon case. It's a thin case, and with it on you can use the dock as a stand, but it's not quite enough for data or power connection. Given that, the TPU case here looks small enough that it might work.

I just ordered the Hyperion stand from Amazon...it's available via Prime for $19.99.
I have the clear Cruzerlite Android case and will see if it works with it on when I get it.
Received the Hyperion Desktop Charging Cradle today via Amazon Prime.
The way the dock is designed seems that it will not work with any type of case on the HTC One.
Since the Cruzerlite case is so easy to put on & take off, it's not a real big deal...just a bit of an inconvenience.
I'm planning to keep this dock until something better comes along.
(RANT)
I'm just a bit upset with the delivery service that Amazon used.
They were so lazy that they actually threw my package from the sidewalk in front of my house onto my porch...there are 6 steps up to my front porch.
The thing that gets me is that the package fell off the porch and landed on the side of the house!
I saw this happen, but they drove off before I could give them a piece of my mind!
(END)
Quick question for those who bought the Hyperion Desktop Charging Cradle...does your One S indicate A/C or USB Charging when being charged on this dock?
Mine for some reason shows USB, but the Parameters Output: 5V 1000mAh (on the box)
Shouldn't that be A/C...not USB?
anyone try the oem evo 3d dock looks like it might be a good fir plus added hdmi functionality.
Anyone know if the hyperion will work with MHL adapter to bring hdmi functionality while docking?
I also found a dock made by a company KIDIGI that offers case compatibility while docked.

It only says "one x" but I would guess since there is enough play to hold the phone in a case that the extra fraction in length of the att wouldn't be a problem.

Cool product, still wish it used the POGO PINs.
Me too... I want a dock that does charging and audio out with no connecting. of wires.
I have the stock HTC One X car mount and it sucks. This looks much better.
The stock relies on these grooved sides to hold the phone in, and when you slide in the phone sometimes you have to wiggle to get the USB to plug in. Further, because it holds the phone pretty tightly, it's not easy to remove the phone. I have to use both hands to get my phone out of the car mount.
just brought this got to wait 10 days as its coming from china.
has anyone got one yet and got any feedback?
I was willing to pay the £40 for the htc official one but ultimately
i didnt go for that one because i didnt like the idea of having to
take the case on and off each time.
this ones meant to work with or without and was cheaper only £25.

Just received my KiDiGi dock yesterday. It's very well made and works great with the Rock slim case I have on my HOX. It comes with a usb cable and charger, but it doesn't appear to be wired to auto enable car mode when docked. No big deal...that's what NFC tags are for!
It's very similar in design to the iBolt dock that Sprint is selling for the EVO LTE. They both have the insert to work with or without a case on the phone, and a top latch to keep it secure. If the KiDiGi were easier to come by, I would highly recommend it. I ordered it from 4u-mobi back on May 24th, so it took about 3 weeks to make it here.

I received my dock as well. It does enable car mode for me, I'm not sure why it's not for you (are you on a Sense based rom?). I have a Casemate Barely There on my HOX and it works fine with the dock. The dock seems to be able to accomodate cases slightly thicker than the Barely There as well (but not much thicker). The headphone jack and camera are exposed and easy to get to. The top "flap" that keeps the phone in place snaps down with a satisfying thud. Very good build quality. The charger that comes with it is a single USB, 1.0A charger. Pretty standard. The usb cable that comes with it is one of those looped cables (like old corded phone cables) so if your charging port is more than 2 feet or so away from your mount it's gonna put some stress on the usb cable. There's also a little cavity underneath the phone on the mount that lets you wedge your finger in there to aid in getting the phone out of the dock, very nice touch.
Note: If you use the plastic dash mounting disk, the adhesive pad on the bottom needs at least 24 hours to set properly. I tried using the mount after letting it sit overnight and the adhesive was barely holding on, but the next day it was rock solid.
Just ordered it from htcpedia. $33 shipped.
The sprint dock is from kidigi but sprint just paid them to put their logo on there.

I was mistaken. CleanROM DE doesn't have the htc car app. I switched to SE and it does indeed auto-switch to car mode when docked.
Just got my KiDiGi dock today, very happy with my purchase. The arm is a little bulky and flimsy but the dock fits on my other arm perfectly so I could care less. Fits great with both my Mybat hybrid TPU case and my Diztronic TPU case. Highly recommended.
Just received mine as well, I don't consider the arm flimsy, though. Tighten it up and its sturdy as anything. Nice looking dock, fits with my barely there, and enables car mode. Just wish I could set music to a third party app, or figure out how.
And that's the aux cable wrapped around the arm.

An update on mine...
The adhesive disk for mounting on your dash kinda sucks...at least mine did. It could not hold up the mount while the phone was docked. I had the mount itself set at a 90 degree angle and after a bit of driving the adhesive disk just started peeling off.
My solution to this was getting some mounting puddy and using that as an adhesive plus setting the dock on my dash in a way that allows the mount itself (where you dock the phone) to rest on the dash, thereby alleviating any excessive torque being put on the dash disk.
I looked through the accessories threads and did not see this one.
Bought it on ebay, the item number is 310396344082. Sorry I am unable to post links yet.
If you do not plan on putting a case on your One X then I highly recommend this car dock. The suction is strong and all joints have tension adjusters. Also the cradle part is on a ball type swivel with tension adjustment. Holds the phone very securely and does not interfere with any of the buttons or ports. This is not a universal as the cradle part seems to be molded specifically for the HTC One x (perfectly molded around the camera).
It does not put the phone in car mode automatically, you will have to push the car icon. But I have seen special charging cables that will do that for you also.

I have the Inspire 4G dock with this same design (looks like the same removeable clip system) and while I did like the design, the suction cup never seemed to hold well. When I took it down after I got my One X, I realized that the suction cup was breaking away from the mount. YMMV of course...
