Im trying to move all my photos from my old cappy to my new one befor i send it in. does anyone have any idea what folder they are stored in?
If you took the pictures with your camera, mount your phone. And look in the DCIM folder. There should be another camera folder inside that.
thanks... I looked in every folder but that one at least 3 times

I have an annoying problem that stems from the fact that my device renamed my memorycard from "memorycard" to "memorycard2".
I run a Swedish device, but I will try to rename to the best of my abilities.
I have a Polaris with the standard ROM, but this problem is more general in nature. I synced my memorycard with the camera, so that the photos I take are put on the card. I could then view my photos in the "camera album" software. Then I removed the card and after replacing it, it got the new name "memorycard2".
I still have the DCIM folder on the memorycard and the photos are still stored on the card in that folder. But I can't view them since they aren't loaded into the software. All the new photos aren't detected either.
I can still use the file explorer or the software called "photos and videos", but it's still a lot of work for a simple task.
So is there a way to A)get the software to load the picture already on the card and/or B)re-detect the folder so that the new pictures at least gets loaded in the software?
Thanks in advance!
Small bumb, sorry for that but it's an annoying problem.
Have tried a few trick myself, like renaming the DCIM folder in order to force the phone to create a new one. It worked, but "photo album" will still not show the pictures...
So please, help me if you can! As of now it's a bit hard to use the phone as a camera.
After I upgraded my ROM to the latest FreshEvo, how can I get the auto file naming for new pictures to pick up where it left off? I'm back to IMAG0001.jpg.
While I'm on the subject, I wish there were more options to how the pics are named. I wish the files could be named by date and time like on my old windows mobile phone. The format was 201008052327_001.... year+month+day+time+_+autonumber
There are no tricks to get it like this, are there?
I feel stupid to ask this!
Where are the pictures that I see in the photo gallery located! All I see in my astro file manager are the pictures I took with the camera but I can't find all the other albums that are in the gallery!
I have a g2x on 2.3.3 and I am not rooted!
Thank you for your help!!!
Everything Ive got is in mnt/sdcard/DCIM. Not sure where else they could be. Some are in a folder related to whatever photo app I used, or if its a picture for an app, its usually in a folder related to said app. At least thats what QuickPic says.
Ah! Maybe you could download the QuickPic app and it will show you all your file extensions?
I wish than I would find them! Quick pic does not find the albums that are in my gallery. I want to copy all pi tires in the main dcmi pi tire album! That's why I am asking.
Thank you for trying

Different apps store pictures in different locations. i.e. - there is a /pictures folder, /mnt/sdcard/dccim has pictures, and there is a /camera folder on my sd card as well.
The gallery scans all media on your phone, and then shows it in the app itself. I would try to figure out what application the gallery is pulling that picture from, and that might help you locate it on the phone.

Thats why I thought quickpic would be a good app. It tells you the file path under the albums, making it easier to pull them up on the phone when looking through your SD card on a computer or whatever.
I guess I dont understand the question
I clean-flashed my Nexus 5 with the stock release version of Android L (LRX21O). Before doing so, I backed up my /sdcard directory, and I restored a few of those folders back afterward. One of the folders I restored back was the DCIM folder, which holds all of the pictures I take. (I wanted them all back on the device for easy access.) Now, however, the Camera app doesn't save any pictures at all--I'll take a picture and immediately swipe left to show the pictures, and the picture I just took won't be there, nor will it be in /sdcard/DCIM/Camera, where the file should be. What do I need to do to fix this?

Just tried both, and all it managed to do was break the /sdcard link. /data/media/0 is still correct, but navigating directly to /sdcard shows nothing. Pictures still don't save.

Shouldn't break the link. Should fix it if its gone. Run the restorecon again, maybe it will bring that back.
Maybe then remove your dcim folder completely. Take a picture. See what happens. if that works, copy your pictures back but not teh folders.

Ran the restorecon command again then rebooted, fixed my /sdcard problem. Then I deleted the DCIM folder, took a picture, and it saved. Copied my pictures back, they all display as they should in the Photos app, took another picture and it saved as well. Seems like I'm all set. Thank you for your help!

You're welcome. Glad it's sorted.
Greetings,
Recent pictures dragged from my PC (Windows 8.1, 64 bit OS) to my Note Edge cannot not be seen using stock gallery app. I download jpeg, jpg files and folders containing jpeg's and jpg flies to the picture folder on the Device memory and to the picture folder in my SD card. The dragged and dropped files can be seen using the phone's file manager, but can't be seen using the Gallery app. Older pictures initially downloaded to my phone can still be seen using the Gallery app. My unit is running ver 4.4.4... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
I posted something similar few days ago. No response.. No support.

Thanks for the heads up. I will contact Samsung's customer support and post my finding here.
Samsung Product Service Response
Greetings all,
Upon conveying my issue with a Samsung Rep online, I got this resolution:
Put the pictures and folders not detected in the Gallery in the DCIM folder. This seems to work but I am not satisfied with this answer because I have some files and folders in a separate location that are detected by the Gallery app.
I initially performed a "soft reset (removed and replaced the battery after powering off unit)" with no change or resolution. Next, I cleared the Gallery app cache with no change. I then dragged and dropped a picture file (.jpg) from my pc to the Phone's DCIM folder. The picture was detected in the DCIM folder by the Gallery App. Then I cut and pasted a folder that wasn't detected by Gallery in the DCIM folder on my SD Card. The folder was detected. The pictures can be detected if you put them in the DCIM folder in either the phone or SD Card.
As I have mentioned before, I am not fully satisfied with this solution because I have pictures outside of the DCIM folder that are detected by the Gallery app, but this option seems to work.
