WPA2-Enterprise problems on Android 2.2 - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hello
You see, I have been a time I've tried connecting to WPA2-Enterprise network, but since I tried Android 2.2 has been impossible, because you never get to connect when the connection requires a certificate.
An example is the connection to the university network "eduroam"
Reading information, I found that the problem is given in the version of WPA-supplicant Android 2.2 (And Android 2.2.1).
My question is how one could put another version of WPA-supplicant, or directly replacing the version of Android 2.1 Eclair?
Thank you very much and best regards

If you're rooted, it's in the etc/wifi system folder I believe but yeah I've messed around with my WPA supplicant file when I was running a 1.5 ROM since wince it had bad WPA2 Enterprise support.

Ok, but what I do with that file? File overwrites the file from Android version 2.1?

Quick question for you - is the router broadcasting the SSID?
My Nexus has this issue (as well as others), where if you are NOT broadcasting your SSID, then it won't connect. Try just broadcasting and see what happens.

I try to connect to eduroam, if it shows the SSID.
The problem is when the connection requires certificates.
In Eclair was not present this error.

Help !! please? I can't connect to Eduroam....

[Q] Not able to connect to Motorola Xoom to HD2 WiFi hotspot.

I love my Motorola Xoom. It is almost a perfect device, but the only thing that is destroyng my pleasure is my not being able to connect to my phone's hot stop. I have downloaded "Mobile Wi-Fi Router from the OMarket. I am able to connect to my phone through my desktop PC, but MyXoom tablet is not able to find it. Please fellow Xoomers help me fix my problem.
I was having the same problem.
The old WiFi tethers broadcast in ad-hoc networks, which android can't see.
I downloaded the newest version of WiFi Tether and it can broadcast in infrastructure mode and my Xoom was able to connect to that.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Drains the battery on my Epic pretty quick though.
I check the post but I do not see a download for a HD2. Do you know how my phone might be able to work? Thank you.
I just used the v3.0 one and it works perfectly on HD2 - no problem connecting to WiFi hotspot
I downloaded the app on my HD2, but the app is not compatible. Is it possible you could walk me through? Thank you.
IIRC I just downloaded it and side-installed the apk as one would any standard application. I think you probably need to be rooted however. What rom are you running on your HD2?
I am running the original 6.5 windows mobile.
That explains things - the application is an Android app as denoted by the .apk extension and therefore won't install on WM 6.5.
I left WM roms far behind. As soon as Cotulla released his magldr and the first NAND Android rom (31/12/10) I've never used another WM rom. Just flash your HD2 to a NANDroid rom and problem solved. If you want to stick with WM though you will have to look for another solution that runs on WM.
I'm not sure that there are any WM WiFi solutions that use infrastructure mode as it seems they only work in ad-hoc mode. If you don't want to flash your phone then you will need to get the Xoom to recognise an ad-hoc connection. I have seen some posts on this forum of people trying to do this but AFAIK they haven't succeeded yet.

Same here. I bounced back and forth between WinMo and Android on my HD2 during the SD card months, but when Magldr came out I went green and never looked back. Still, while I was in WinMo I looked and looked for a ROM that could do infrastructure mode (for my PS3, Wii, etc.) and had no success. It has to be enabled at the driver-level, and it looks like the newer Android drivers for the wifi chip in the HD2 support infrastructure mode and the old WinMo drivers don't. To make matters more depressing, the drivers aren't open source (as far as I can find) they're only distributed as binary modules, so we can't easily tweak the driver to enable the mode in WinMo.
Short answer, while nothing is impossible - this may as well be. Welcome to Cyanogen Mod 7, my friend.

Try the earlier wifi tether version 2_0_7. I also had some issues with the newer experimental version, but this one works fine.

Ad-hoc WiFi connections now supported apparently - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033314
The solution is upgrading to Windows Phone 7 which has WIFI that transmits in infrastructure mode or if someone here is kind enough to create a downloadable WM7 WIFI Reuter cab compatible with Windows Mobile 6.5.

[Q] SSH Droid used on a rooted DHD does not work anymore

Hello there!
Thanks to the many useful threads on this forum, I successfully rooted my Desire HD and implemented ad-hoc Wi-Fi support (in order to control my AR-Drone).
Everything went well so far, since I can connect to "non ad-hoc" networks as well as ad-hoc ones.
But I find myself stuck with a problem which I do not know where to start to try and solve it.
See, I think this has to do with the wpa_supplicant (and not wpa_supplicant.conf) file I modified using >this one<, which is the one that allowed me to detect ad-hoc networks.
I used the recent one (the "-v2" file in the thread) and since ad-hoc works fine now, I assume it has been successfully placed into the /system/bin directory.
The problem is, before this manipulation I could SSH my DHD using the very useful SSHDroid, but now, I just can't connect to my phone using SSH anymore, and I do not get why since I can connect from my phone to the Internet using my home's Wi-Fi network, and SSHDroid does not monitor anything wrong and seems to be correctly launching.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling SSHDroid but the result is the same.
Where should I start to investigate?
Thanks a lot!

[Q] WiFi internet shared by notebook doesn't work

I've been looking around for a similar thread but I couldn't find anything helpful. My problem is that when I create a WiFi network with my notebook, and share my wired internet connection, I can connect to it, but there's no internet connection available.
My Inspire is using the newest MIUI build with the Radio that is recommended for the MIUI from the Radio thread. Every other WiFi network seems to work (I have some difficulties connecting to my uni's network but that's most probably not related to this, since my home network and every other network works fine). When I connect to this network, I have excellent signal, I get assigned proper network parameters by my own DHCP server and everything seems to work fine except for no internet connection, no pages load, market cannot connect etc. My friend's ZTE Blade works on this network, and my other friend's notebook also does. I tried pinging the device and from about 100 packets, only 1 reached it. I really have no idea what could be wrong. Thanks for the help in advice
Okay, after testing some more I can't connect to my uni's WPA2 secured networks, only the WEP secured networks. When trying to connect to a WPA2 network it says connecting, then the network quickly disappears and says Disabled or Remembered. Really pisses me off I tried also the "Released for Desire HD - 04-28-2011" Radio, no help with this, either.

I would try a different rom. MIUI uses CM based drivers for WiFi and BT. I would check there.
Tried the official CM7.1 ROM, same result, and actually every other WiFi network works, so I don't think it has to do anything with the ROM.

Try a non CM based Rom. They use the same drivers as MIUI is based off of CM. They use open source drivers instead of the ones built by the device manufacturer.
What type of connection does your university use?

[Q] How to connect to wifi 802.1x EAP ?

help me connect to eduroam pls
when i try to connect it says : "scanning ...."then "connecting ...." then "saved, secured with 802.1x"
Sensation XE
fw 3.25
rom : ARHD 6.2.1
ICS
same for me Sony
seems to be an android bug
-scanning-connecting-searching---- "disabled, secured with 802.1x eap"
this is my loop, and no connection at all
Same here :-(
iPhone users can connect fine to my company's 802.1x wifi network, but i can't from my android phones (SE Xperia X10 on Gingerbread & HTC Sensation on ICS)
A google search shows a lot of users having issue in connecting to 802.1x networks since Froyo (Android 2.2). There are worksrounds suggested, but they don't appear to work for me.
It seems the issue still exists in ICS as well :-(
Try LEAP WiFi free (it is in the market) or try to find one app for your comapny.
Leap WiFi works fine for me on IBM EAP APs.
Delete your old saved setting, before creating a new with Leap WiFi.

Finally, I've defeated my CiSCO EAP-FAST corporate wifi network and now all our Android devices are able to connect to it.
The walkaround I've performed in order to gain access to this kind of networks from an Android device are easiest that you can imagine.
I'am a BES, MDM and Lotus Administrator, and btw and iOS lover.
Many of my colleages are Android users, and their claim is always the same.
Why iOS and BB users are able to connect to the corporate wireless network by chosing only WPA2 Enterprise and only needs the network SSID and their Active Directory Credentials?
2 years has passed since I heard this claim from my colleagues for the first time , and until yesterday, all of them remained disconnected even when they had ICS on their devices.
This things made me think about the Android and iOS system differences, and the way the OS developer thinks.
A wireless chipSet is a wireless chipset, and it not depends of the OS installed in a mobile device to have a better compatibility.( not like servers or routers ).
When you setup a Corporate wifi network on iPhone, basically you command the system to use some protocols to connect to, included in the WPA2 Enterprise cabinet. the system check all of the until find the right one to connect.
Android doesn't have the same protocols defined in his WPA2 Enterprise system definitions, so if you try to connect to it by using the main Android interface, you will have an authentication error.
There's a Wifi Config Editor in the Google Play Store you can use to "activate" the secondary CISCO Protocols when you are setting up a EAP wifi connection.
It's name is Wifi Config Advanced Editor.
Firstable you have to setup your wireless network manually as seemful as you can to your "official" corporate wifi parameters.
Save it.
Go to the WCE and edit the parameters of the network you have created in the previous step.
There are 3 or 4 series of settings you should activate in order to force the Android device to use them as a way to connect (the main site I think you want to visit is Enterprise Configuration, but don't forget to check all the parameters to change them if needed.
As a suggestion, even if you have a WPA2 EAP-FAST Cipher, try LEAP in your setup.
It worked for me as a charm.
When you finished to edit the config, go to the main Android wifi controller, and force to connect to this network.
DO NOT Edit the network again with the Android wifi interface.
Tested on Samsung Galaxy 1, 2 and Note mobile devices and on a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet.
Gingerbread, Honeycomb and ICS.
May the force be with you, my young Padawan
Regards
Try the "Leap WIFI free" app from Play Store
Try the "Leap WIFI free" app from Play Store. Its an app provided by a developer called "OneGuyInABasement".
I was having the same issue where I couldn't connect to the (802.1x EAP based) Wifi network at my workplace.
I configured the network through this app and now I can connect just fine.
Leap WIFI free not working with JB 4.2.1
I have tried using Leap WIFI free on my Asus TF700T running the latest OTA update to JB (4.2.1).
While the tool seems to create a network profile, it does not even connect.
Trying to connect to a wifi network that shows up as Cisco EAP-FAST when I connect via my windows laptop
I've tried creating the profile using the built in wifi config editor as well, unfortunately it defaults to PEAP and while it connects and gets an IP address I do not have actual network access (e.g. web browsing fails).
The wifi ACE tool has not been updated to support JB yet either.
Any other suggestions?
