Hi, help please...
I have Wizard G3 with TNT 5 Touch Flow and tried to update radio T-mobile UK 2.19 Radio Only. update went OK but now on loading I see HTC boot screen then it moves to TNT 5.0 screen and then fades in two minutes and starts back with HTC boot screen. It then circulates like that for ever without passing to the Today screen. On connection with PC for new update with any rom it shows: Error (260) update error. What can be done?

it's a case of bad flash, did anything during flash happened like lose usb connectivity,pc crashed, battery discharged or something like unusual ?
Try to soft reset and see if it works, otherwise you'll have to reflash to official carrier's rom in boodloader mode,
1. Disconnect your phone from the usb cable, shut down any firewall, disable any Anti virus,Reboot your PC.
2. On your Desktop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync, then go to File >Connection Settings >Remove the Selection from “Allow USB Connection with this desktop computer”
3. On your PC Open windows Task Manager...>Tab Processes...>wescomm.exe...>End process
4. Power off the phone completely (Not stand-by,shut off completely),or you may take the battery out for few seconds
5. Make sure your phone is not Connected to the PC via USB cable and remove the dummy Sdcard or mini-Sd card
6. Get your phone into Bootloader mode (Multicolor screen) by pressing camera button + Power on button
7. Reconnect your phone to the Desktop PC using the USB Cradle and the Charger MUST be Connected to the Cradle (Be sure that your battery is charged over 70%)
8. "USB"will appear on the bottom of the screen of the Bootloader (Multicolor screen)
9. Run the Upgrade again and it will work fine without any problems.
10.Never use Bluetooth sync for the Upgrade
While upgrading, the ActiveSync program will not go on, however the upgrade is running. Please be patient when you're flashing your device, even if 98%. It can wait a little bit, 5 ~ 7 minutes.
Don't cancell the flash or get the phone off the usb cable till it confirms "Congratulations" or stops with an Error!!!
Hope it'll work, Good luck
Hi, this is the first time i saw a Paki guy on this web. I know there is alot of talent in IT profession in Pakistan. Anyway its good to see u here and i got a relief that with the help of a senior member like you i can get my phone work again.
To cut the chase, I have X01HT by Softbank Japan. It is Herms200 by HTC Japanese WM5 ROM. I have installed Asukal's English MUI and it was working fine for me. Now i'm planning to visit Pakistan this month so i though to unlock the sim and i used Prof v3a to unlock. I've successfully unlocked the sim and i guess CID also. When i use some other carrier's sim, i can receive the calls but cant make the calls out coz Softbank rom has a security which comes at screen and ask for password and dont let me do anything on the PDA. After studying alot on this forum i figured that i need to change the rom to get rid of that password message. i used the Olipro's Hard SPL and got bootloader 2.10 Olipro. I checked the other necessary stuff and when satisfied i started rom update. I end up with the same message of Error 260. Now my phone has no OS and it starts at bootloader. i tried everything possible like i make sure to remove all firewalls on my PC, used all the versions of Activesync and everything possible that i could. I trust that there is nothing wrong with the ROM etc but it is with connection.
Now if i update to the original ROM, i'm afraid that it will also upgrade my Bootloader and could never be able to flash english rom. I'm really depressed for the last three days and loosing sleep as well. I trust that you or any other senior member can help me with this.
Thanks in advance and looking forward anxiously.
Farrukh, wrong forum.
You know you have a Hermes, then you should know to post your questions in Hermes related forum, not wizard.

Sorry Brother, i know i have herms but i couldn't find some related topic in herms and i figured that Activesync problem is the same in all devices.
Anyway, thanks for the prompt reply. I'll try to find some from Herms.
Thanks
8125 rom update
i have tried to do a rom update on my 8125 g4. i recently purchased it off ebay and i have two problems. the reason i want to update it is because when i try to enable the wifi my device freezes. the other problem is that i can not seem to get the phone into boot loader mode. i have tried :
-turning the phone off and holding the camera button as i turn it on.
-holding the camera button and pluging it in to a usb port.
- using wizard service tool to enter boot loader mode.
after each of these different attempts i had to either remove the battery for 3 secs or hold the reset button for a few seconds before i can turn it back on. the phone still turns and just i can not use the wifi
Yes!!! Thank you! your instructions worked for me and got me past the Error [260] with my 8125 .

Depending on what happened, it's a yes/no situation. What did you do?
Try this:
get into bootloader mode (tri-color screen): Take out the battery for one minute. Put it back in. Getting into bootloader mode is done by holding the Volume down button while you do a press/release of the Reset button. OR hold the Volume down button while you do a press/release of the Power button.
That should get you to bootloader mode. Now, plug in your USB to the PC. Flash a CDMA ROM from there by running the .exe. If you cannot do that, transfer the .nbh file (rename it to "RHODIMG.nbh" [no quotes]) and follow these instructions.
Good luck, and happy new year!
*The majority of the CDMA ROMs can be found at PPCGeeks*

Well, this forum is for CDMA TP2s, but I'll help.
So you took out the battery for at least one minute? Then you put it back in. Get into bootloader mode (T-Mobile version: phone is off, hold the Volume Down button while you press/release the Power Button. Keep holding the Volume Down button until the colorful screen shows up).
When you're in bootloader, plug in your TP2 to your PC. Now run the .exe of a GSM ROM and follow the steps, as if your phone is synced to the PC. (aka flash as you would usually do).
To flash via the Storage Card: On your PC, go to Start > My Computer > Removable Disk drive (something like that; make sure this is your phone's Storage Card). Drag the .nbh of a GSM ROM there. Rename the .nbh "RHODIMG.nbh" (no quotes). Unplug your Phone. Take out the battery again for one minute. Now, go back into bootloader (hold Volume Down button and press/release Power button [keep holding the Volume Down button]). Follow the steps to flash the phone.
Good luck.

You did exactly the reverse of what I did, and the instructions already given are how I resolved it: put it in bootloader and flash a compatible ROM. I flashed a stock ROM just to be sure, but that's probably not needed.

See if you can do a hard-reset right now. While phone is off (which it is), press and hold Talk/Send, End, and Power button at the same time. Wait for a screen to pop-up. Follow steps to hard reset. That will bring it back to factory defaults.
If it doesn't work, maybe you could post your question on PPCGeeks, where a lot of CDMA people go. They might be able to help you.
Can you Unbrick a Touch Pro 2
Hi to all,
I'm a new here and a little desperate . I flashed my rom by using a raphael update instead of Rhodium. My phone got bricked. My phone is a Sprint HTC touch pro 2.
At the moment, it will not boot, when I plug it to my computer and it was looking for qualcomm cdma MSM drivers.
I tried sof and hardware reset including the boot loader. Nothing works. I also tried using different RUUs. Nothing works. I hope somebody can help me.
Fixed the problem...bought an android...ha,ha...

Well if you can power it on, and go to bootloader, then your phone is just fine. Just flash a Rhodium ROM.
I suggest take battery out, and put it back in after few seconds, to see if it powers on. If not, leave it in the charger, and see if it powers on.
After installing the HardSPL, I decided to flash my US Cellular CDMA phone with a GSM rom and of course it bricked it. The phone would only boot to bootloader, so I was going to have it repaired for $70. But if I was willing to flash my device, then I'm sure as willing to look for a DIY solution somewhere. Goodthing I searched this forum, because the answers where right here!
Just format your microSD to FAT32, install an extracted stock ROM kit to the root of the SD insuring you rename the .nbh to RHODMIG.nbh and place the other extracted files on the SD as well. Place the microSD in your HTC Touch Pro2 and boot to bootloader. You may have to take steps to get to the bootloader, mine booted to bootloader automatically anyway at that point. Follow onscreen instructions, and your Touch will be as good as new!
thanks a million for helping me unbrick my tp2
wow man thanks a million, i followed the instru and it worked but was slow so i did task 29 and flashed the rom i wanted and it works great, i really appreciate your help on this
How did you get to the bootloader menu. I am using CDMA HTC Pro 2 by Sprint. Thanks

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the problem I'm facing:
I have the latest Energy rom, with Android 2.3 on SD card. Android proved to be quite unstable and requires soft resets every now and then. Most of the time I would let it boot into WinMo and then run Haret again to get into Android.
Yesterday I left in running in Android all day, and in the evening I noticed the phone had died. Thinking it was just out of battery, I just plugged it in, let it charge for a few hours, then tried to boot it up. But it just kept rebooting, never getting pass the Touch Pro 2 boot screen.
Did hard resets twice, same thing. Re-flash the rom, same thing. Took out SD card, flashed again, same thing. Everything I tried, it would not get pass the initial boot screen, and just cycles the reboot again. Oh by the way, the hard resets and re-flashes are all successful with no errors.
Anyone have a solution to this? Thanks!

Try flashing another ROM or try putting in another battery and see if the bootloop issue goes away. Kindly update the status of your post if you fixed the issue or are still having problems.
This is for those of you that may need warranty work, exchanges whatever. It may or may not be an issue but im sure many of you have noticed that clockwork will pop up whenever the phone is powered off with a usb connection present. Which in most cases would be an immediate red flag for those of you needing work done. This will completely restore your phone and remove the clockwork recovery flash.
Update: I no long have an Aria to try this with but if you guys are running into issues try this as well.

1.) Download ATT Original Shipped ROM file from here:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/aria-att/downloads/
2.) Disconnect USB connection to phone.
3.) Power down phone
4.) Boot into Fastboot Menu (hold trackpad on start)
5.) Insert USB
6.) confirm that the phone shows "FASTBOOT USB"
7.) Run downloaded exe file
8.) Process will take a few min at the end you should have a 100% restored and unrooted phone.
It may seem self explanatory now but I was running into issues getting the HTC tool to communicate with the phone and it would fail whenever trying to send the phone into the bootloader. Thought I would just save you guys the headache.
thanks for your solution. was thinking about unrooting my phone and exchanging my aria for a samsung captative...
thanks man. doubt i'll do this, but i might need this just incase ATT and HTC actually come through with a stable update to froyo 2.2 within the next couple months.
I think it will be safe to assume that said 2.2 ROM will begin floating around in a rooted form not before too long, and will be flashable via recovery.
this is great info to have. great work.

install Android SDK USB drivers first
??
i think i did... i installed something from google called android-sdk. and when i connect my phone in bootloader i can see fastboot change to fastboot usb and my pc says driver successfully installed. but when i run the .exe file it never sees my phone. also htc sync wont connect and neither will droid explorer. thanks
i agree with bred, can't seem to restore the original rom. it doesn't recognize it during the process
I have tried this method on 2 computers and the exe can NEVER find my phone.
I have installed the SDK USB drivers, my computer sees the Android 1.0 device and sees it as the HTC booloader. And I see FASTBOOT and FASTBOOT USB when unplugged/plugged.
----UPDATE 2010-07-23----
After further research I was able to determine that even with the device NOT in FASTBOOT mode, that adb couldn't see it, so I thought it might be a driver issue.
I've gotten my computer to recognize the device when it's booted normally. But when put the device in FASTBOOT or the BOOTLOADER, adb can't recognize it and I can't get the recover exe to recognize the device, regardless of mode.
I have the latest clockwork recovery installed and I would like to get everything back to factory to exchange for a captivate.
theres no way to do a nandroid backup or anything like that? curious because i was going to take mine back tomorrow to exchange for the captivate as well. i bought mine from radioshack so i might try my luck and just return it rooted . i did the trade in program with them with my iphone and it was jailbroken and they still accepted it. i dont think i would try that with at&t though... worse comes to worse just return it and say it was like that when you got it! maybe an at&t employee messed around with it before you bought it. they cant prove it was you.
Can anyone confirm this works? Just in case. This might be something I will need to do quick fast and in a hurry in the morning. And I'm hoping that if it comes down to this I won't have any issues.

I have been thoroughly unsuccessful in getting this method to work.
I have tried it on 3 different computers and I can never get the HTC OriginalShipRom.exe to find my phone.
I have tried following the instructions to the letter, I have also tried plugging in while booting the phone into various menus (HBOOT, FASTBOOT, and regular booting), which was advice given to me in the IRC room.
I'm plugging the phone in right after I click "Next" on the "Plug your phone into the usb port" right as it shows the "Verifying data on your PDA" window. I have tried with the phone in HBOOT, FASTBOOT, and while booting the phone, none of these seem to work.
I've also tried it with just plugging the phone in and running the exe. Nothing seems to work. People in the IRC channel are claiming successful factory restores, but I can't seem to get it to work.
So can someone please update the first post with more thorough instructions? Because those instructions don't seem to work.
The following instructions came directly from the HTC webiste for restoring the original state of the phone.
1. Download and save the HTC Aria™ Original Software to your PC.
2. Power your device off.
3. Connect your device to your PC via the data USB cable.
4. On the device, press and hold the Volume Down and Power Button until you get the bootloader screen (a white screen with 3 Androids on the bottom).
5. Press the Power Button once to enter FastBoot mode.
6. Locate the HTC Aria™ Original Software that you downloaded and double-click on the file to launch the RUU Wizard.
7. Follow all of the RUU Wizard instructions shown on your PC.
8. Once the update is complete, click Finish in the RUU Wizard and the device will reboot.
9. Once the device reboots it will run through the Customization Process; this must be allowed to complete.
10. Once the Customization process is complete, the device is then ready for use.
I hope this helps. I haven't tried it yet, but would like to know if this works in case I need to do this as well.

My problem is with step 3. The second I plug my powered down Aria into the computer via USB, it powers on and goes directly into Clockwork.
If I boot the device into FASTBOOT, then plug it in, and then run the exe, it says it can't locate the device.
If you had flashed the unrevoked clock work you will not be able to plug your phone into the computer while its turned off. Your best bet is to boot into fastboot then plug in your phone. And try to do this under linux since there is no need for drivers.

Hi farquep, can you give me instruction on how to use linux what's the command line?? thanx
If you do it under linux, just download the file and run it like any other program in any other operating system. Although you will have to let the file run as an executable under permissions. I don't know if you need to install WINE which will emulate windows programs. There should be no need for terminal scripts.

Doesnt recognize my device at all. If I'm returning to insurance company, should I even bother taking off clockwork? I already have the replacement.

perhaps that can be added to the original instructions.
the archive can be downloaded from here
I decided to try to update to GB because my G2X rebooted while on the charger, clock night mode turns off and the screen locks, and wifi is ok but resets sometimes. My phone is stock 2.2 with stock recovery but rooted.
I turned off all programs on my Windows 7 32 bit laptop, turned off anti virus and turned off Windows firewall. The updater ran ok, checked the phone environment and downloaded the update. Then at 4% when the phone is supposed to download into software update mode, it just sat there staying in Android. After the update failed and it told me to remove the cable and remove battery, etc., I just shutdown the phone, did a battery pull and turned the phone back on. I then canceled the update.
My phone booted back into Android no problem. I tried to boot into recovery using Quickboot but that just rebooted the phone back into Android. My questions are as follows:
1. Did the update change anything on the phone or did it fail before attempting to change anything?
2. Why did it fail to boot into software update mode? Do I need to try another USB port or another computer?
3. Should I use the alternate method on a Windows XP machine that people use when their phone is soft bricked?
4. Should I just install CWM recovery and use the pre-rooted zip of GB with the old baseband?
5. Or should I just forego the update for now and see if another update is released?
Try reinstalling everything, and restarting your computer. It worked just fine on Windows 7 Ultimate x86, and x64.
My update went the same way but everytime I retried it got a little further so I just retried it over and over till I hit 100 percent

I just tried to run the LG update program on my XP machine but I got a runtime error (see attached). Anybody know what this means and how to fix it?
Does anyone know why it just sits there on 4% and never boots into the software update mode? Can I just run it and then when it fails manually boot into software update mode? Or is that risking a brick?

Follow your Item 4
Finally got it updated
Used Windows 7 32bit.
The update progressed very scarily.
I downloaded the drivers and reinstalled them directly from the update program. I then used a different USB port then my previous attempt, unplugged all other USB devices, and shutdown everything running on the computer I could including Avast andti-virus and the Windows Firewall. This time when I plugged the G2X into my computer a lot more devices installed than last time (first time only 2 devices were installed, this time about 8 to 10).
During the first download of the firmware I canceled it because I realized I left the micro sd card in the phone and the instructions on the website say to remove the card. Then I also decided to unroot the phone and remove all programs that require root access. Since the phone would be unrooted after an update I decided I didn't want superuser in the system if I couldn't use it, and after the update I would be unable to remove it since the phone would not be rooted.
Then I ran the program again and this time the phone booted into software update mode. It started pushing the update to the phone and at 5% the phone disconnects from the computer and reconnects (does this three times during the update) but the software doesn't see the phone and tells me to unplug the USB cable, remove the battery, reinsert the battery and turn the phone back on. But I heard the computer reconnect to the phone so I decided I would just remove the cable and reinsert it. This worked and the update started over again. This time it went past 5% and then reset the phone connection again at 46%. It then slowly completed the update resetting one more time at 76% and when it reconnected it went back to 75% but then progressed to 100% and rebooted the phone.
It now has an updated baseband and Gingerbread 2.3.3. I am leaving it unrooted for now and just use it stock.

Does anyone know why it just sits there on 4% and never boots into the software update mode? Can I just run it and then when it fails manually boot into software update mode? Or is that risking a brick?

I do! It's installing one of the THREE usb drivers that it installs over the course of the upgrade. Mine got stuck at 4% for just a second (at which point I about **** my pants), but then I saw a Win7 notification pop up that it had just installed a USB driver, and then it proceeded to do the update.
So maybe the failure mode is the LG updater not being able to install a USB driver?

Is there any significant reason to update to get the newest baseband and then flash CM7? Or is there no benefit from the new baseband?

July 15, 2011 baseband has more reliable wifi and much better GPS lock. After the scares of getting mine updated finally, my G2X has had no issues in the 30+ hours since the update. No reboots on charger, no sleep of death and everything is working as it should.
So I been trying to fix my friends Captivate for a few days now.
I posted a video a few days ago. I did get it into download mode with my jig. However everything froze while I used the 1 click captivate heimdall to flash my phone. (It did flash but some things did not work)
Anyhow now My phone has "Phone - ! - PC"
No download mode, the jig sends it back to this screen too. I tried so many button combinations. I really don't want to send my phone in to some website. I was so freakin close...
Please help
My Evo 3D is laughing at me and the captivate.
I pull out my battery and let it discharge for about 15 secs and hold volume buttons then connect USB cable and finally insert battery while still holding volume buttons of course, it'll get you into download mode. Never failed me. I've had my phone not even turn on the screen, it stays dark during a screwed up flash with odin. I then flash UCKI2 with bootloaders and then flash to gingerbread ROM I like. If you plan on installing custom ROMs your phone will semi-brick numerous times. If its showing a phone, exclamation mark and computer with a message saying firmware flashing failed. That is perfect! Just make sure you have Samsung USB drivers and simply flash using odin, it'll show COM and a number like 5 (COM5) then just flash. I'd advise you to remove any external SD card and restart before using odin it acts up. Hope this helps

The "Phone - ! - PC" will be your download mode screen. Just download from there.
However, if a flash goes foul somehow, you may be left with the infamous "phone--/!\--PC" screen.
If you see this, don't panic. Although it's not technically the download mode screen, many users (including myself) have been able to successfully flash from that screen. Give it a try.

Let me reiterate cause it will save you the same thing happening, reboot your computer, be connected to internet, remove SD card and then open odin and then connect your phone and flash otherwise high likelihood of something going wrong again. I'm used to it but its frustrating the first couple times.

100% - I had similar experience with my first flash but after a few goes at it and 3 or 4 "soft-bricks" all has been great!
Well when I plug it in Windows 7 doesn't even detect it anymore. But the phone will go back to that screen when the USB is connected.
Nothing in ODIN/Heimdall pops up...
Please help..
It seems I got it in download mode this morning with the jig. Just trying to get my damn pc to read it. Sometimes the right drivers work sometimes they don't. ugh
Connection issue in my sig
Any chance you have another pc to try it with? Or possibly another cable?
Going to try one click on ubuntu...
Ive had issues in the past before with certain USB ports on my PC not reading the phone.
Try plunging in your phone to a different USB port and it can make a world of difference with the driver issue (even if you have to plug it in the back of your PC).
try one click unbrick in the android development page

Are you running x64? If so are you running the 64 bit drivers?
I also had the same issue a couple of times, which is technically called a "soft brick" . You could resolve this issue using ODIN flasher and reverting back to stock. Now coming to USB problem in windows, this is a known issue with windows (especially Vista and Win7) and samsung!! The remedy which I found is as follows :-
1.Disconnect the phone from USB
2.Remove samsung USB driver software from your windows PC.
3.Reboot and then navigate to C:\Program Files\ (assuming that C:\ is your windows OS partition)
Delete "samsung" folder.
4.Download latest samsung USB Drivers for captivate and install.
5.Reboot the phone.
6.Open ODIN and connect your Phone to PC.
It should detect the COM Port by now. Try this and get back
"Thanks" , If I helped U
