Okey , so 2.2 froyo came out. I have been waiting for it a while now.
I conected my phone to the computer, choose kies, kies said that an update was available and i clicked OK. It started updating and everything seemed fine. It went really slow and i went to watch tv. When i came back it was at like 2% so i switched of windows firewall . It increased in speed immedietly and after about 10 minutes it was on about 60%. Suddenly it dissapeared. Like it was done. I thought that it maybe gotten a boost or something and proceeded to check out my updated phone.
In "about phone" it says firmware version 2.1-update1. And build is ECLAIR . So something went wrong. I have tried shutting it off, conecting again to kies. It says No updates available and that i have 2.1. When i try starting the phone with volume down+home+powerbutton the Android guy pops up and it says:
Downloading
do not turn off target!!!
it didnt say that before. I thought that i shud reset it or something but now i cant since that is there. Really need help! What to do ?

I used designgears' jh7_ota.zip to update my phone to JH7. It worked fine. The one reason why I used it was because the OTA update had gone through to 100% and then crashed. In the "About phone" menu it had the right kernel version and the right baseband version, but the Build number was stuck on ECLAIR and not showing ECLAIR.UCJH7 like it should. So after using the JH7_OTA.zip it showed the right build number and the PC Internet option was gone from USB options like it should have been. Also, the GPS started working pretty well.
The one thing that sucked was it completely wiped my phone. So after reloading all my apps and redoing all the customizations I finally got it back to how I like it. Then I happened to notice that the "Build number" had somehow reverted back to just "ECLAIR". I also noticed that "PC Internet" was back as an option when USB was plugged in. I have no idea how it reverted back after I had successfully installed JH7. I never used ROM Manager or Titanium Backup to restore anything, I just went and redownloaded everything and reinstalled everything.
Has anyone else seen or had this happen to them? I had to reinstall JH7_OTA.zip again. And again it wiped my phone out completely. Having to go back through and reinstall everything all over again. How annoying.
You could always master clear, flash stock JF6 and then use Mini Kies to get the update. That way you know you have a fresh install.
I just did that coming of Cognition, loved it but didn't use any of the useful features (mobile AP, tethering) to make it worthwhile. I still bought DG a beer, dude works hard.
That was what I did to get the JH7 update. Although, I did use designgears' zip file rather than mini kies. Mini Kies wasnt out at that time. I used odin one click to revert to stock JF6, then the first thing I did was install clockwork recovery, then I installed designgears' zip file. Everything worked great for weeks. Cant see how or why it reverted back to build number "ECLAIR" from "ECLAIR.UCJH7".
I reinstalled JH7 with DG's zip file again since I still had it on my sdcard. Its back to the right version, build number says the right thing and pc internet is not an option and gps seems to work good and battery life seems to be better again. If it monks up again I will flash back to JF6, then use mini kies to get the JH7 update and try that.
I dont know whether its android or its just this galaxy S, but I've never had such a glitchy phone before. Random software crashes, random shutdowns, half-baked gps, updates that dont work and even brick phones. Just seems like I cant go more than a day or two without something on this phone F'ing up. Is this how it is with android all the time? This feels like the microsoft windows world a la 1995-2000. I thought we moved past all these crashes and glitches with plug and play and with Windows XP.
May or may not be the same thing ... but ... my wife updated to the current release OTA and said it worked. However I noticed the other day that she still has the PC Internet option that shouldn't be there.

Go to About Phone and look at the build number on her phone. If it really took the full update it will say "ECLAIR.UCJH7". If it didnt it will still say "ECLAIR".
The very first time I tried to get the update OTA, it downloaded, then installed and it went to 100% on the install screen, but once it reached 100%, it then said "Update is failed". And when I rebooted it, the build number was still at "ECLAIR". and I still had PC Internet option and Quick Office wasnt installed and it acted kind of "glitchy".
When I downloaded and installed the zip file from Designgears, I could tell right away the the update was truly installed. Build number was "ECLAIR.UCJH7". PC Internet option was removed from usb options. Quick Office was installed. It ran a little smoother. GPS performance was somewhat better, and I did notice improved battery life.
Hi, my UK transformer said it had an update to install so I started charging it and pressed 'install update'.
A few hours have passed and its still on the screen with the orange exclamation mark and a little green android figure.
My internet is really slow at weekends, download speed is around 60kb/s. Will this be the problem?
Any idea what is happening? I don't want to reset the tablet because it might cause a brick, thanks.
EDIT> I turned it off after 4 hours of it being stuck and it restarted fine, I checked the version and it didn't update.
I went to settings and checked for an update, it said I needed to update so I clicked install again and now I'm back to where I started - Stuck on the update screen.
Your internet speed shouldn't have anything to do with your problem. The update would have completely downloaded before starting to install it. Maybe somebody around here can point you in the right direction to restore your tablet.
Ive just found this
http://android.modaco.com/content/a...408/have-asus-pulled-the-ota-firmware-update/
People seem to have this problem with the first update, looks like i'll have to flash another firmware myself.
So I tried updating from 2.3.6 stock/rooted to ICS OTA. It downloaded, then started installing. The little android had the cool spinning blue thing in his chest and everything was going fine. Then the android fell over... He had an exclamation mark over his corpse.
The phone restarted, 2.3.6 started back up and I got an thing saying that the update failed. I noticed that my cell phone signal had a circle with a line through it, I had seen this before, soon a little plus icon appears and bada bing... this time that never happened. Just the little circle with the line though it. Then the phone restarts.
When it's back on it still shows the little circle with the line through it where my signal bar is. It says I'm in airplane mode. I turn it off, does nothing. It says baseband unknown. It has no network stuff in it at all.
So I FXZ 2.3.5, it installs fine, comes on, shows 2.3.5, but that little circle with the line through it is still there. OTA update to 2.3.6, all the time the phone is restarting. After it D/L's it installs and I'm at 2.3.6. OTA to ICS and...... fail. kicks me back to 2.3.6. Still no cell service. It says my radio is off. I tried everything I could and finally I'm giving up. No safestrap/bootstrap nothing. All of that had been removed a while ago. I even deleted the right files and everything, I was so proud of myself.
But alas, I'm out of ideas, and sick of this thing restarting constantly, like every 3-5 minutes or so. New sim card, new sd card, nothing helped. So I have a shipping label coming to me from motorola so I can send my baby off to be fixed.
Thanks to this forum I was able to do all kinds of things with this phone that I only dared try with my hp touchpad. Now my sim card is in my backup phone, a samsung sgh-a667..... what a bummer
So I JUST received a refurbished Samsung S2 Gear from amazon and went to work trying to learn all how to use it.
well i downloaded all the apps and things necessary, but now im stuck because m the samsung gear app tells me that the phone needs a software update. It downloads fine on my phone, and then gets stuck at 0% on the copying stage. I have both the phone and watch charging, and i havent put anything new on the phone. pretty much out of the box. After it tries for a bit, a popup says that its" failed to copy the software update to the gear. Try Later"
Ive restarted the watch.. unfortunately i can not restart my phone due to the outside buttons no longer working. But still seems unnecessary.
Anyone have any ideas on what to do at this point?
I just bought one, too. I also have the same phone. Update worked fine for me...
