[Q] Tribs Trinity Kitchen Build ROM,Help me! - Wing, P4350 ROM development

ROM produced using TribsTrinityKitchen
Can not find the Chinese (PRC)
The use of SuperJustKitchen\EXT\SHARED\REQUIRED\23XXX_Builds Folder Files
Out of the bag again, you can choose Custom Chinese (PRC).
But still not display Chinese
Chinese font has been copied to the WINDOWS directory, there has to import the registry key to modify the fonts.

Not sure why this is because I normally work with the Wing/Herald. I apologize

Thank you very much!
Then I will look at the information online.
Since there do not know yet to ask you.

thanhy25 produced using ROM. Only two steps to display Chinese.
1. Copy MSYH.TTF to the WINDOWS directory.
2. Import a registry to the PPC.

SuperJustKitchen produced using ROM. With the above two steps can not be displayed in Chinese.
Guess the problem is in wince.nls above. But replace the thanhy25 inside wince.nls ROM production or not.
Is it inside the EXT\SHARED\REQUIRED\23XXX_Builds\files Folder SuperJustKitchen need to modify the inside of the file before they can

Ok i will give you difrend guide (proper one):
1. Copy shellres.96.dll from \windows to your sd card (of my rom) and rename it to shellres.96.dll.0409.mui - if you replace the original file for this rom you may encounter unpredicted bugs thats why it is more safe to use mui file
2. Copy the file to your computer
3. Extract original resources to a folder using Resource Tuner(Resource Hacker can not extract them) or a similar program (the resources are icons 8,9,24 - 8 and 9 are exactly the same so you me skip extracting 9 but later you have to replace it too)
4. Open the old shellres.96.dll (you can get it from suns kitchen for example) extract the same resources into a difrend
5. Open the old and new resources with icon editor (i used ArtIcons - open all icons) and copy the new resources to the old ones which will give you old sized icons with new looks
6. Add the resources back to the mui file with Resource Hacker - you can also delete all other resources since they are not needed and they already are in shellres.96.dll
7. Sign the file with SignCode and proper certificate (i used SamplePrivDeveloper because it is privileged one - taken from wm6.1 sdk)
8. Now you can either copy the mui to windows folder or make a cab to do this for you.
setup xml will not work added your way because you add it as file and not as setting - but if you need to you can add it with WinCE Cab Manager as a provisioning xml info and it will add it to configuration
My fixes added to the second post
OK-X-Fix.cab uses the original resources of this build with proper size and they are edited a little by me to have better looks
OK-X-FixL.cab uses large resources - like in the rom but antialiased

Perhaps, you can ask Explode if this guide would apply to other phones.
Good Luck!
Do try to mod shellres96.dll, I tried on my blue angel running WM6.1 and it worked i just changed the startmenu icon. I dunno if this file is present in WM6.1 standard or not,

Question about language package

I have extract language 0804 from China Mobile ROM and sort it into OEM and SYS, however, there is no "Language_Simplified Chinese" folder under OEM, hence, when I try to cook my own ROM, I can't find Chinese options.
Can any one let me know how to build the the folder "Language_Simplified Chinese" and make the options visible?
Thanks in advance!
There is no such folder in the original ROMs, you have to create one. Look at the other language packs (are you using the language kitchen for new guava or the vox kitchen 0.3??). There you should find a .dsm and a .rgu (rgu s are hidden) and a option.xml. Just copy them to your "Language_Simplified Chinese" folder and then rename the dsm and rgu to ce2bca2e-da07-4123-9e20-87dc3dcf032c.dsm and ce2bca2e-da07-4123-9e20-87dc3dcf032c.rgu Then go into the option xml, there you will find a line with the former name of the rgu change it to ce2bca2e-da07-4123-9e20-87dc3dcf032c . Also change the line for the name to Chinese.. Then you have to go into the rgu (with editor) there you have to change all the language codes to the code for Chinese, but only change the codes for the former language, because English has to stay in, English is either 0409 or 0809!
Many thanks.
Yes, I am using kitchen to cook the rom. However, when I try to build the rom, it reports an error that "temp\dump\mixpcold_smartphon_1.provxml" already exist.
Then what can I do?
Search for the file, it should be in the ROM twice somewhere in the sys or oem folder, delete one, if it is in an oem package delete that not the one in sys.
Thanks again.
I have successfully build the rom and flash to the Vox, but the display just squares, neither Chinese nor English.
Can you please tell?
Hm, can you upload all your language files, just zip and attach them, I'll see what I can do!
Great appreciate your help.
I've uploaded file in /Smartphone/Vox/Vox Kitchen 0.3/languages/
Please check it.
Do you have a Chinese keyboard layout or is it a normal English qwerty? Maybe I have found your mistake! I'll upload once you have told me about the keyboard!
It is normal English Keyboard.
OK I am uploading, wait 5 minutes and it's done! Again I don't know if it'll work at all, because it is not from the same ROM version!
It's done!

Any way, more than thanks.
One more question.
I have dumped the original rom into three raw files. Can I flash this files back? If so, How?
I am sorry I don't know. Nobody here has tried it and reported back, but people keep asking it. It should (!) work when you just extract it to OEM and SYS folder, place that in the kitchen and run it, but as I said I don't know if it works!
I think a raw file (or was it a bin ?) can also be directly flashed with pdocwrite.exe but I have never tried that. Search for it on the forum or with google and be cautious with it.
Please report here if you are succesfull
Yeah, because if it works we could write a Wiki article. Did the new language pack work?
Unfortunately, it is not work.
Any more ways to help me out?
What I guess it because of wince.nls file. It it Chinese support file. I can find it after flash, but I can't find in folders before I cook them. Do you have any idea?

How to cook a ROM to different language

As read a lot of ROM cooking threads here, I can't find some details on how to cook a ROM to different language.
I tried to replace all the .0409.MUI folders/files with different language packs such as .0804.MUI, replace wince.nls, re-build default.hv and user.hv, modified initflashfiles.dat, then cooked.
but never lucky, it always stopped on the first boot screen after flahshed.
Could somebody give me some suggestions or is there a tutorial on it?
Thank you in advance!
you should modify boot.hv and boot.rgu in ROM\XIP folder. it may be help also, check .rgu files in MUI folders. Good cooking!!!

The best and also the easiest way is to download the original Chinish and dump it... then use all the Land folder from the sys folder and replace them in the cooked rom you like to change. you will also need the OEM_Lang from chinish version. the wince.nls is also needed from the Chinish version or it wan't display any chinish letters.
It's quite easy if the rom you wan't to change language of is fully dumpable ( not removed the rgu and made the dsm as one file)
this method should work for any language

Thanks for your remind.
but unfortunately HTC never released China simplified language version for Kaiser but traditional chinese, this is why I wanna customized my own language ROM version by replace some MUI files.
There are quite a few chinese kaiser kitchens around at those chinese sites.
I just converted the newest HTC-lite rom to a working CHS kitchen last night. Just be patient, check all the necessary rgu files, devote some time. Try and error.

Mui files and kitchen

I 've started recently to work with the kithcen found here, for DIamonds and winMo 6.5.
I also found some interesting post with mui files here.
The question is how can these mui files be used with a kitchen like ervious visual kitchen to produce a localized version of windows mobile rom?

Ervius visual ROM kitchen uses sub folders for different localities. The MUIs should all be in the form somefile.dll.XXXX.mui where XXX is the locale. If you create new folders for the locale (I think ervius visual kitchen just uses XXXX e.g. 0409) using the files ending in XXXX.mui with your files, instead of the similarly named files using whatever the old locale was, and then cook it, it should work (you'll need to change the locale in ervius visual kitchen, and remember to replace OEM_Lang_0409).
OK, here goes nothing...

He he!!
Something went terribly wrong!
The new ruu_signed.nbh file is 7.985 kb!!
It must be the tiniest ROM ever created!!
I attach a logfile by Ervious Kitchen.

7.985kb would be awesome... Would leave lots of room!
What about the \EXT\Diamond\COMMON\External_Packages folder contents?
There are many 0409 folders and mui files there.
What can I do?

If those contain 0409 files, you'll need to put the equivalent of whatever language you want in there...
I attach the log of the Kitchen Build batch file..

Looks like you've replaced a file with a folder... In the SYS\21725\SHARED\0408\AdobeFlash_LANG_0408\flashresource.dll.0408.mui\ folder, do you have "flashresource.dll.0408.mui"?
It's there.
Does it matter that its 0408 contents are copied from 0409?

[REF] Greek Document tab + Howto find manila file names for all language

Hi all
I am not a manila guru.. and this is my first dive in to the manila naming ocean...
I started this thread when some person that i asked for the filenames to have Greek language
in the documents tab he refuse to tell me EVEN the filenames.
So when i figure out how it works i deside to put together this Howto for other people.
This is a tutorial, a howto find the manila file names for the varius language, apps and tabs.
You will need
a) ManilaHASH.exe
b) Manilafiles.txt
Files are provided in the end of this post.
In his tutorial we will try to find the manila files and filenames to have the document tab in
Greek Language.
The same way works for any tab and any language...
So lets start.
The manila files that holds all the strings are the xml ones...
1. Open the manilafiles.txt in a text editor you will see lines like this one
5bb3a45f_manila \windows\htc\album\assets\images\btn_camera_press.qtc
The first part its the actual filename.(You will find that file in the windows folder)
The second one its a virtual path that refers to that filename.
(I dont know how and why they just are linked and the manilahash app use this to produce the
actual filenames.)
Lets find now the filenames for the document tab.
2. Search the Manilafiles.txt file for the string 'document' and when you find the first instance
scrool down to find the lines with the xml files
in our case the lines are :
35bfc9f0_manila \windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\en-us\docicons.en-us.xml
4e4ebb4e_manila \windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\en-us\documentexplorer.en-us.xml
43326f20_manila \windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\en-us\documentexplorerbrowse.en-us.xml
4db93f9f_manila \windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\en-us\documentexplorersettings.en-us.xml
1a93e5c6_manila \windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\en-us\expandeddocument.en-us.xml
The first part of those lines is the actual filename.
Those are the files that we need to find them in the \windows folder of the device and copy
them for editing. So find them and copy them from the device to your pc.
Before go to the next step, lest do a test now just to see how the manilahash.exe and the manila
naming works.
3. Open the manilahash.exe and copy and paste the "\windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\en-us\docicons.en-us.xml"
to the manila file path textbox.
Then press the "get manila" button ... you will get the 35bfc9f0_manila witch is refered in our text file.
The same goes for the others files... just check them.
4. Now lets go for the other language - the greek
In the filepath for the first file "\windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\en-us\docicons.en-us.xml" change
the language code from en-us to el-gr the greek language code, and now the path string its like this :
"\windows\htc\docexplorer\locales\el-gr\docicons.el-gr.xml".
(Here you can find all the language codes to letters for each of the 2 parts, the Primary language and Sublanguage)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms776294.aspx
5. Copy this to the manila file path textbox of manilahash.exe app and press getmanila to get the name
of the file for the greek language witch is this: 7139AFEE_manila.
So now copy the file 35bfc9f0_manila and rename it to 7139AFEE_manila.
Follow the same procedure for all the files.
The open the all files with a text editor and change the first line the string en-us to el-gr and save.
Transfer all the files to \windows folder of your device and after a softreset you will have greek (or any other lang
in the document tab.
The procedure is generaly the same for any other set of files or tabs... and for any language...
I dont now if the text file with the names covers all the manila files... i did some try and find attemps
and all the files where there.
If i can help you with your search just post the question here.
Thanks to metlwater, he was the first that answer my question about manila file names in the facebook tab
greek translation.

LOL Thanks alot (Ευχαριστώ)
I just read this today, very useful! Any idea how this works for custom tabs?
Cheers for any pointers.
Hola Colossus ;-)
I know this thread isn´t "warm" anymore, but doing some research for "FullThemSwitch" witch CHTS (or manually ) I stumbled across this one
Guess we both encountered the same "attitude" when asking "certain" people for information , guess not everybody is into sharing knowledge - since information is power At last let me also congratulate you, because you actually "practice what you preach" Love your signature
I'd all but forgotten about this thread and there was no thankyou meter last time I posted. So, your thankyou meter just went up by one.
Without you I wouldn't have been able to find out which manila files to have translated, for those wanting other localisations of my ROM series.
Cheers again!
THX great work (ευχαριστω)

Thanks a lot my friend. May i ask you something - My documents tab <bar> at the top of the screen is empty without writing <Documents> (from the begining). Do you know perhaps how or what file makes it appears again? I have an HD2 with the latest Greek Rom.
Interesting informations, I think you are a manila guru!!
