Is ther any chanse to remote spotify from my mobile ? like i play music from spotify on my computer. And then i can change track, vol up/down from my htc hd2. Is this possible ? Thanks fore help!
I wouldnt mind that either, I got G-remote set up working for winamp but not sure how to make it work with spotify...
use remote desktop
That is a possibility, and that is what i am doing at the moment. But shouldnt there be a way to get g-remote to tell the "next song"-command (etc) to Spotify instead of Winamp?...
I figured out how to do that with one of the tutorials on their page (g-remote's)... So i suggest you look there lovenvik..

Check out the options in the windows mobile rdp application... you can specify whether sound is played on the remote computer or on your device.

Thats good to know mate... could you not just post what you did here though? It would be helpful to others who may stumble across this thread on xda.

Are you using the one you can download from ther website or are you using the xda verision?
I tryed to install the one that xda have but i cant install the cab file (WM6BTPAN) get error code:1062 so it dont work fore me. The real verision from gsoftware are working thow, but its just a demo.
I tried posting this a couple of days ago but since in included urls then i could not post it. But I'm rewriting it now to tell you what to search for instead
I am using server version 1.3.3.71 and client version 1.3.2.96 (although i had to use an older one to add profiles since that one wont let me).
gbmsoftware.com (homepage of the developers) has a videotutorial under their FAQ called "How to add custom program to GMedia profiles". It shows how to make VLC controllable but works just as well with using the key shortcuts that Spotify use.
Just google "spotify keyboard shortcuts" and you should have no trouble finding it.
Same goes for lets say MPC... (my favourite)
Hope that helps
The demo version should work to try out, but getting your hands on a registered version might help... That's what I did
Why does android not have Facebook with chat. Android has been out for some time now but still nothing.
There latest update is by far the best and performance wise it actually works better than previous versions.
I don't know if its possible but has someone tried to insert chat. There is so much rom development so there must be people capable of modifying this app.

The Facebook app isn't open source.
Is there no way to modify it. Everything is possible these days

I use Pairing. Works flawlessly and also ties all other chat programs in.

go! chat on the market works well
There's a version of bloo that has chat enabled that's floating around. It doesn't have the fancy new photoscroller or inbox features, but it DOES have chat if that's what you want.
Was supposed to say Palringo. It's free in the market and works awesome.

The AIM app works really well too. Can check FB updates from within the app as well.
if you use ninjamorph you can alter the .xml files in .apk's. can't someone create a .xml file that adds chat support? Or can't someone take the facebook app piece for piece via astro and add chat support and add an icon in one of the blanks on the main homepage? that seems do-able.
Hi everyone.
I'm having an unusual mistake on my Xperia Play, I'm currently running Skype 2.0.0.47 mod app obtained from here (XDA developers) which allow the Xperia Play to make video calls, but today while on the market I noticed there is a Skype Update to version 2.1.0.46 which officially support Xperia Play.
So I thought, OK, maybe is time to left the mod and jump to the official App to that supports my PLAY, but after downloading the file and while trying to install it the file my phone prompt a message :
ERROR Package was not signed correctly
So I wasn't updated at all, I'm still running on 2.0.0.47 mod , but I was wondering if it is a mistake on Skype side while compiling the app, or if it is because of my set is currently running a Modded Skype app?
I read all the comments on the app section, and nobody is complaining about that, in fact nobody is commenting about it working on the Xperia Play... can you guys give it a try and let me know if yours worked fine?
I'm running on Gingerbread (Updated via SEUS) not rooted nor flashed, R800a.
Thanks
You have to uninstall the XDA-provided version first. So to say, the system finds that the Skype of the market and the XDA-provided Skype are incompatible, and it won't allow you to update one with the other.
One big dev, supercurio, has said that this system is retarded, as it implies that people who use pirated apps would have to uninstall them, and lose the data if the app can't back it up on the SD card, if they decide to "go legal" and buy it from the Market. It's not an issue in Skype, because it is free, but paid-for apps suffer.
I just "thanked" you, Uninstalling Modded Skype right now.
The official app is good now? It supports video calls? Should I also update from the xda one?
Yes it is,
version 2.1.0.046 is up on the market right now and it is working on the xperia play in a "OFFICIAL" manner
You can update it but you first need to remove the XDA modded app, it will show an error if you don't remove the modded app, and fore close the installation.
I did it, and it worked
I installed the new Skype Version and Videocalls works fine on my Play now, but only in Landscape Mode! It this a Bug or all here have the same "problem" here?

It isn't a bug, its a design limitation/stupidity. Honestly... What were they thinking with sideways FFC support. >_< I hope they will accept either an option or implement sensor checking for rotation.
really dissapointed they have not made this HC compatable.
i'm gonna have to wait to see is someone will unlock this version to allow all devices to try video
So which is better to use? The xda one or official updated one?
The official one IMO. The main reason to use patched Skype is because it is patched to support devices that it officially doesn't. Once your phone is officially able to use Skype, there's no reason why you should bother with patched versions.

Patched one has easy exit button and remembers the password for quick sign in - I believe the official one does not do it. That's the main reason for patched one with me.
Some other tweaks are disabling sign-in sound and colour icon to indicate your status which can be also useful. Possibly bluetooth is supported too but I have not tested it.
Funny... I had patched version 2.0.0.47 and it didn't remember the password, nor have an exit button... that's why I Didn't felt any difference... you may have the 2.0.0.45 patched version instead...
Maybe we can ask the devs, to patch the official version to have this setup also. It will be amazing to have the exit button.
also do anyone knows a workaround to prevent the skype to start on the background everytime I get online via Wifi or 3g... getting tired of that.!

This is awesome. Thanks so much. I love that the QUIT button is back on the main menu too instead of having to back out of stupid pandora and then quitting.
One question --- my HTC One shows 2 notification icons -- one for "app info" and one for the actual song playing... anyone to get rid of the app info one? If i disable notifications from the app info screen, of course it disables both...

That may depend -- does that have it's own app, or is that app a "system" app on the phone?
I'd just try it, and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, go back to the way it was before.
-Uninstall your pandora app. If you can't, this may not work
-install this version
-use it, and see how it goes...
You can't have this and the "real" pandora installed at the same time. But i seriously doubt you could hurt anything to try. Just keep an eye on data use before and after.

It's version 1.7 of this app. It doesn't correlate to the default/real pandora app version because it's a completely different app, as far as i know....
Ok thanks
Don't usually register or comments on forums unless it's a dire emergency or some kind of stuff but got to say awesome job on the app. Thanks
Is this app being kept up to date at all?
I searched through the forums and this looks like all. Otherwise there are other moded apks outside of xda..

I do not believe this app is up to date. I also believe this app now violated XDA's ToC and is considered "warez"
Pandora has since put a stop to the majority of things developers were once able to do to the app in order to get these things done. Server sided.
I have a subscriptiion to Pandora One, and I must say for the $4.99 it is amazing... I get a large number of skips and higher quality audio you can tell the difference, playing through the aux cord, headphones, or bluetooth audio.
Sorry to tell you won't find anything like this on XDA. If you are that hard pressed for an app like this look for another source. It was not my work to begin with.
Zikk is unique mobile to mobile remote support app.
So what's so special about Zikk?
It is designed for consumers and not for IT depatments and operators,
therefore it is extremely simple and user friendly.
It provides full privacy protection - no screen sharing, and no access to SMS, email, etc.
It doesn't require constant internet access, and doesn't prevent the recipient from using his
phone for other purposes during the process.
It supports all Android devices (2.2 and above).
In addition to remote support, Zikk contains a local settings menu which uses Zikk's simple
and friendly interface.
When people have a hard time setting up their smartphones, they ask help from their friends
and family - Zikk enables users to help each other.
APK attached. Also available on Google-Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zikk.alpha)
where you will also find a short and helpful demo video. You van also find the video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsP9-Lpfwpk).
So both people need Zikk installed, I presume? Does the person you are helping get prompted to download it?

Correct. If the selected contact does not have the app, the user will be asked to allow sending
an automatic SMS with a link to the download page. There is also a share option where you can
send this message (via SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.) to one or more people.

This really does sound great; however, does it support wifi-only tablets? Is the phone number just to receive verification code? If so, will any mobile phone number work?

The current version is designed for Android phones does not support WiFi-only tablets or
large screen tablets, however in a few weeks I will publish the tablet version, which will
include UI adjustments, tablet related features and a different registration process.
Sounds AMAZING! I'd really like to use this to help my friends and family. I live in India though
No worries, I'll wait
fantastic idea!!! this will surely take off!! kudos to the OP!!
how far this app will go ? I mean can I help someone from anywhere ?
What about phone types? What if my phone is a Nexus and the other device is a HTC?

Great ideas for the next version - thank you very much!
I like the app a lot, but what make it one of the best is if I could move, install, & uninstall system apps, and a root file manager so that we can help rooted users also

Actually a version for rooted users is an interesting idea. Not sure how common "less tech savvy"
rooted users are though. If you have more ideas for features for rooted users I would love to hear them.
I actually have a friend who is just getting into root use who calls for advice when he needs it. Let's be honest we were all beginners once and maybe could have used a little hand. He moved recently so there is distance involved now. This looks like a great idea.
I would love to have access to the settings menus, root file explorer and perhaps apps he already has installed such as set CPU or apps of that nature.
Beginners in root use are just as confused by root abilities as beginners in android are of it's stock features at times.
It would be really great to be able to start a log cat app and have your friend do something that normally causes a crash for example if they are not advanced enough to run one themselves. A current issue I have on hand. Trying to explain how to run one and sending videos to watch.
Hope this keeps going
