I had to replace a few cappys form bricking and shutdowns. The current one works but I noticed something a tad odd. Previously, I'd set my phone down and go to sleep and remember the home lights not being on...at all. Once I put it to sleep it would be tough to find it in the dark room because everything was dark including the home lights at the bottom. The refurb I have, I noticed yesterday morning, have the home light strip at the bottom turned on when its asleep. Initially, when I put it to sleep, its off. but yesterday and today when I woke up..there's my phone...bottom set of lights on. Im not sure if this is by design of some kind of trick on teh refurb to stop it from shutting down of what...anyone notice anything similar. I would think that if its asleep all the lights should be off.
note this is while it is unplugged.
Since you didn't tell us anything about your phone setup, I'm going to guess that you have a kernel that enabled the backlight notifications.
doh..good point. Didnt even think about that..running cognition 2.1.7 unhelpful.

Yesterday at work my boat caught on fire (serving with the Coast Guard atm) and while fighting the fire I got wet. I didn't have time to empty my pockets, and as such my phone got wet. It wasn't soaked to the point where water was dripping out of it, just the outside was damp. When I got home, I took it apart as much as I could and set it out to dry.
This morning I put it back together after checked for any water (there was none) and plugged it in, then turned it on. It booted up fine, I was able to send/receive text messages, make a phone call, and tether it to my laptop. The only problem I found was the hang-up button was constantly light, and the button itself didn't work. About an hour later I was talking to my roommate about the fire, and told him how my phone had gotten a little wet but seemed to be working OK, save for the one button. As if on cue, when I pointed and looked at it, the screen seemed to shift a little, then stopped showing the Today page and just showed a dark blue plaid pattern.
Now, about 3 hours later, the screen doesn't show anything at all. The phone is still working, hence why I am able to tether it, except I'm afraid to do anything with it in case I can't tether it again. When I hit the power button that would normally turn the screen on, all the buttons along the bottom light up, but the screen just shows a very feint, dark blue color. No plaid anymore.
Is there something I can try to do to fix this? I had thought about pulling apart even further and hope that re-seating something might help, but I don't want to completely screw it up.
A friend of mine once dumped her phone into a puddle, it wasn't a fuze, but a phone is a phone...lol. The screen stopped working, it would flicker every now and again, and you could see that the phone itself still worked, just not the screen even when it was aired out. She buried it in a bowl of dry rice and left it overnight, apparently the rice absorbed the excess moisture in the phone and it works flawlessly now. I don't know if this will work for you, but it's apparently a common fix for moisture damage as telling this story a lot of people have told me they have done the same thing and it has worked.
Quick update, I just opened the keyboard, just playing around with it in the hopes of getting something... and I did. If I open the keyboard with some force (flicking it open hard) the screen shows up perfectly for about a second, then fades to red then back to blue. So all is not lost, but maybe a bad connection somewhere?
*edit*
Just did it again (closed the keyboard pretty hard) and the screen is back to normal. Touch screen is working normally, and hasn't faded after about a minute. I'll keep you updated. I guess the good old method of beating things into submission still works like a charm.
Sometimes a good ole WACK does some good. Few years back my sister called me, her new computer would just beep when turned on. I told her to give it a good wack and turn it back on. Did the trick. Next time was up there, pulled it apart and the video card wasn't quite seated.
Hi.
My Touch Pro is acting somewhat weird.
The other day I walked in what best can be described as moist weather. It wasnt raining but it wasnt dry either. I had my headset on an the radio running on my touch pro. No problems. Later that day it freaked on me.
The backlight wouldn't turn on no matter what i did. Until i soft reset the phone. Then it turned on until it went to sleep by itself. Then the lcd turned off but the backlight stayed on. One hard reset later and it was fixed. A few hours later i recieved a text and it took forever to open the messaging app, and as soon as i startet typing on the keyboard it kept turning the light on and off, and the caps an fn lights cycled on and off also. I had to turn to the soft keyboard to answer the text. And the phone now seems REALLY slow and unresponsive, like cpu cycles are being used. But nothing is running on the phone.
And thats basicly how its been ever since. I can se both the water sensitive labels have turned red, and i sure that its because of my walk outside.
I've tried hard resetting, flashing the original rom, flashing a new 6.5 rom, drained the battery completely (not that hard because the backlight wont turn off) and off course fully charging the battery. Nothing seems to help.
Any ideas of what to change, or ways to fix it. Theres no warranty on it, and even if there was they wouldnt touch it because of the water sensitive labels has been triggered.
Any help is appriciated.
Im thinking of buying the tattoo instead if it aint feasible to fix it, but im really hoping cause im not sure i can live without the hardware keyboard.
Anyway I haven't been using the fuze for like a year now so if you guys can't fix it then no problem. So, the display does not show at all. When I turn it on you feel the vibration, however the screen does not light up at all, you get no display. How it happened was that I had slept on it by accident (which makes me think it be fix unless I do something physically like take it apart), when I woke up a realized that I was laying on it I immediately got up and the display was not showing.
I've tried leaving it plugged in for 8 hours and it didn't work......that's all I tried.
Thanks for all the answers.
I sleep on mine all the time...
Have you attempted to get into bootloader; to see the multi-color screen?
no display
i think its about time you opened the device up and seen whats going on inside
if you break it, no biggie = can't fix it then no problem
Hi,
I have this really weird stuff going on with my Nexus 5 screen. I cracked it a couple months ago and bought a legit replacement screen for it and installed it myself (glass, lcd and frame). I fixed it with good instructions and it worked properly for two months. However though, now when I take it out of a pocket and try to turn screen on, sometimes it just doesn't light up. It's still on and every button works but the screen doesn't turn on. I have to give it a light tap or two on the back in order to make it light up again. Same thing happens sometimes when I'm using the phone normally, the screen just goes black and goes on after tapping it couple of times. Otherwise the phone works normally like it did when I bought it two years ago and after running couple of tests with screen, everything seems to work from touch interface to the graphics card.
Tried looking it up, no results.
I've noticed that the front camera doesn't work for some reason (probably just broken) and the battery lasts in use only 2-4 hours which isn't that much of an issue since I'm looking for a new phone. I just want this one to last long enough till I buy a new one.
It comes up when tapping the screen or power button? It could be a power button issue.
The screen comes back on when tapping the screen or the back of the phone. The power button isn't the issue. The screen just goes black but nothing else happens. It doesn't turn off or go to sleep mode.
Strange issue. I've never experienced it and any problems I had were related to the power button.
Could it be a loose connection inside the phone? Maybe an issue related to the proximity sensor?
Thats actually what I've thought. I have checked the phone's insides twice and didn't see loose connections, and the problem feels like it's related to proximity sensor since the screen going black happens exactly same way that when calling someone or doing something else where proximity sensor shuts the screen. It's really weird though...
Huh, I took backplate off and unscrewed the motherboard cover and took everything apart and rebuilt it and now the problem is gone. Seems like there was just some bad connection somewhere.
Glad you got it to work without having to pay someone to fix it
If I have my phone face down on a counter when it rings, when I pick it up the screen is black. Not off, as I see some light, but basically dark.
I cannot see who is calling...can't get it to display.
This actually happens a lot other times. Just now, for example, I just picked it up, and turned it on with finger print. I placed it face down, and picked back up immediately...screen black.
If I happen to have it on and brush the screen across my side, it will go black.
The ringing is the realy annoying one.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking it has to do with something about the proximity sensor sensing the screen against something...but it should let it come on when it's not against something.
Is noone else having this problem? Every time my phone rings, it turns on but stays black. I never know who's calling unless I answer.
I don't know what to do with it. Very annoying.
Hoping someone has a suggestion.
You could disable auto dimming on your phone. Use Lux from Play store instead.

Do you mean Auto Brightness? If so, that is not the problem. I have it disabled and am using an app for brightness control...not automatic.
I cannot find anything in settings about 'auto dimming'.
Thanks for the suggestion though...
You're right. I mean Auto Brightness, it does Auto Dimming too . B.t.w. I don't have this issue.

I'm beginning to think I am the only one.
Another symptom which I am thinking is related. Sometimes when I touch my finger to the fingerprint button to wake the phone, it comes on with that dark screen for just a moment. It feels like the phone is busy, overloaded, or just slow. It will then come fully on. Also seems like maybe it is just in deep sleep and slow to wake up. If I turn it off and back on, it is instant.
I check memory and it always has just under 1.5 GB free.
I don't know what to think, but it is very annoying. I thought about chalking Huawei support, but I'm sureo they'd just say to hard reset.
I do have a lot of apps on the phone, but with that much free memory I wouldn't think that should be a problem.
Another interesting thing related to screen dark: I can have the setting for display to not turn off if no actdivity to 10 minutes, and it still goes off after less than a minute. (Going off is different from the topic of this thread where it is near black/dark, but not off).
I discovered this while trying to use Huawei backup. Thinking of doing a Factory Reset. Instructions say to not lock the screen, so I'm trying to keep screen on w/o my having to hold the phone the entire backup.
This overall topic is making me pretty unhappy with the phone, which I had thought was perfection when I started with it.
sigh...
I finally called Huwaei technical support this morning. They apparently know about this problem, and want me to send the phone back for repair. They expect me to be without a phone for two weeks while this is going on.
It speaks to the reason to not buy phones away from carriers, as anytime I had a problem with my Samsung, they would send out a replacement and then I would send back my old one and I would not have to be without a phone.
Pretty poor .
AN update In case anyone is following this for some reason...
Getting ready to send the phone in, I did another factory reset. I had got to wondering if maybe Gravity Box had been part of my problem. May be the case...not sure. But for now i'm not having the problem. I changed some of the settings on it when I reinstalled. I cancelled the return.
I've had the odd time when the screen is on, but not properly backlit. You can just about make out the screen, but then the backlight seems to rectify itself. It isn't just the Mate 9, but the P10 and probably other phones. Doubtful a hardware issue I'd have thought - rather a software glitch.
The P10 just got an update earlier this week (yet still with April security patches) but my Mate 9 hasn't had an update in months.
