Where to find original wall charger? - Nexus One Accessories

Hi,
Does anyone know of a source to obtain the original wall charger that comes with the Nexus One? What is the mA rating of this charger? I hear conflicting reports of between 800mA and 1000mA. I thought I could use a standard blackberry micro-usb charger, but I want one that charges more quickly, if possible. Thanks.
Jim.

I don't see the exact wall charger on their site, but there is a USB -> wall adapter that I am assuming works exactly the same.

Anyone know if there are any devices like this that has 900mA output (or know what output the linked one has)? Seems that's the minimum needed to charge the Charge via USB. My current one rated at 700mA does nothing when plugged in the Charge.
My friend has one something like this and I was using it for my Charge and it worked fairly well. I am not sure if it is the same one but they look the same size, I just used the usb that came with the charge to plug into it and it worked. It also works well with his iphone 4 if that helps at all.

$1.99 free ship, takes a while because it comes from china, but worth the wait it is 1000ma like the wall charger.

Do you actually own this? I'm pretty interested in it as mine has stopped working.
I came from the fascinate and the wall charger was only 0.7A and the Charge wall charger is 1.0A
I was looking at some brands and found a Belkin Micro Charger for the car that charges at 2.1A (Says rapid charge)
Checked around for any other products and found this at newegg. $9.99 2.1A USB charger.

Edit: Also found this on ebay. knockoff no name. Looks the same as a scosche one I found.

IDK....I'll find out I guess...I ordered it.
I just ordered 2 off of eBay. Will see how they work.

I ordered this one, if it doesn't work or isn't small enough I will prob try the $2 one from eBay. Thanks for all the suggestions.
I bought a dual usb car charger (it has 2 usb ports) that says its for ipads or tablets, and supplies 2A. It does seem to charge faster than my other car chargers, but I think it also triggers USB mass storage mode, because apps stored on the SD card aren't usable when its plugged into this. Is this because of the USB cable i'm using (a generic USB to micro usb cable)? or is it because of the charger?
this is the charger - although Amazon's pictures don't exactly match - the one customer supplied picture does, though.

Any one know of any good wall chargers? Or any good car chargers?
I'm not interested in the usb plug kind. I'm looking for wall and car chargers that aren't usb and just charge (hope that makes sense).
Thanks.

[Q] Can HOX be charged by 2.1A car charger?

I am going to buy a car charger for my new HOX, but it only has one 2.1A usb output. I know the charging current of the HOX wall charger is 1A, but I think 2.1A should work fine or even charge faster. But my concern is if the larger current would hurt my battery or shorten its lifetime.
Some ppl said the phone itself would take 1A current anyway due to some kind of threshold control inside, but I am not sure about it. So pls let me know if you know the truth. Appreciate it!
ps. I sent an email about this problem to HTC customer care 2 days ago but still no response yet. I will post the official answer when I get their answer.
UPDATE: Here is the official response from HTC about charging current, it seems that HOX does not intelligently control its charging current:
Dear yydnl,
Thanks for getting back to me, yydnl. The One X was designed with the intention of only using 5V 1A chargers. Anything more will cause damage to the phone over time. The phone was not designed to alter the current coming into the phone through the charger. I recommend that you only use the supplied HTC charger with your device.
Yeah I'd like to know. I never opened the oem charger and am currently using my bb playbook charger which shoots out 1.8A. I'm hoping the answer is no damage with a faster charge.
Yep, it'll work fine. Chargers don't "push" the charge, the phone pulls it. If the phone is only designed to charge at 1000ma, then it will only pull that current. So you could use a 10 amp charger and it will be fine, only difference is that with that high a capacity, you'll be able to charge 10 phones at the full charging rate. Changing the voltage, that's a different story.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
There is no problem of the voltage of the car charger because that is 5V as the oem charger, but do you know if HOX is designed to intelligently pull the proper amount of current? or will it take any current fed to it?

All Li-ion batteries have intelligent charging circuits. Otherwise, it will simply explode.
I won't worry about 2.1A at all. The problem is other way around, i.e. whether or not the phone will take more than 500ma from your 2.1A charger. It depends on how your charger is wired. If the phone only detects a generic USB connection, it will only charge max 500ma. It requires special wiring from the USB port to allow phone to switch to AC charging mode to draw more current. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell until you have the charger and try it out. One thing for sure, those chargers designed for iPhone/iPad typically won't be recorgnzied by other phones as AC chargers.

Gotcha, the car charger I am going to buy is for iphone, but it also claims to be able to charge phones of htc, sony etc. So I guess it is possible to have the ac charging detection.

My money is on that it won't be recognized as AC charger. iPhone has special requirement on data PIN wiring that is not compatible with other phone. Yes, you can charge other phones but probably not at anything over 500ma.
Pls see my updates, it seems that 2.1A charger is not safe.

Car Charger that works?

Hi.
I'm looking for an advise about car charger that can charge my TF700.
does anyone confirmed that there any car charger that works?
I mean, I saw some posts that says that ASUS' charger is 15v instead of the more common 5v?
but then I saw the charger, it says " Output : 5v === 2A or 15v === 1.2A"
So I assume I can use other car charger that works with other tablets?
can someone confirm this for me?
THANKS
The tablet will only start to detect a charge at 12V.
Charging at anything lower than that will charge about 1-3% every hour.

oh. okay. any recommendation on what charger should i get?
preferably one with dual USB.
USB is not going to work, in any form or capacity. a USB port can only put out 5V at max.
I use a power inverter that puts out 230V (bought it for my laptop a couple of years ago) through a normal outlet. Plugged the charger into that and it charges normally. You could try looking into that.

YES the ASUS Transformer will only charge from between 12 & 15V. They DO NOT charge from 5V USB.
I have found that the car chargers which have the ASUS 40 pin plug attached to the cable work fine. They have a regulator circuit which outputs 12V at 1.5A minimum.
The ones available on eBay work well and aren't too expensive. They are a little bulky because of the high current circuitry so look at the pictures and make sure that it looks bigger than the average ones and you will do fine.
unfortunately there's no car charger available as of yet.

An Carcharger is avilable, i have one and it is working. 15v 1,2A Carcharger with normal Asus connetor. I'm usin it since 2 Month, never had problems. Carcharger is even cooler as the 230V USB charger while charging. Asus Tabel also switch immediately in charging mode. 14€ at Amazon.de.
By the way, why is everyone saying 5V won't work? On my 230V USB charger there's following note "15V 1,2A or 5V 2A"
Well won't need it, just buy this one ( which i have):
www.Amazon.de/gp/product/B007PQ8AN6/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i01
Just ignore that tf700t isn't written there and that the charger would have 1,5A. Thats wrong, Carcharger has 15V 1,2A.
If you won't believe me, i can make an picture ( that it will have 15V 1,2A and works) otherwise have fun with it

Why aren't you reading everything? I said 5V charges too slowly for the tablet to detect, but it does charge. About 1-3% an hour, which is useless when you're using it. It clearly says, in the manual, that it will only charge over USB (5V) when turned OFF and not connected to the dock. RTFM.

I don't know how many different threads I have to post this in...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081BFYY2/ref=wms_ohs_product
Includes a home charger, car charger, and an extra USB cable, that ALL work. I have been using these with my Transformer Prime, and now my Infinity without an issue at all, and they provide the ASUS required specs for charging and work just like the factory provided chargers.
I ran into this issue with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus. When attached to a charger, if I went into Settings...Battery... it would show the status of the charging process: it would say "USB" when connected to a computer, and charged at a much slower rate, or "AC" when plugged into the supplied charger in a regular outlet, and charged much more quickly.
With most car chargers, it would only show "USB" but there are some car chargers that have the correct wiring so that it was recognized as "AC" and charged as quickly as when plugged into a regular outlet.
I have two of these in my vehicles, and I just checked one of them, the one listed below first, and with the Tablet plugged into it, it shows as charging, as an "AC" source, just as with my Galaxy Nexus.
Here is the one I specifically tested and verified that it works:
Dual USB Car Charger
I do note the 2 negative reviews there, but all I can say is that I've had this one for almost a year, and it has worked perfectly for me with my phone. A brief test with the Asus Tablet confirmed it was seen as an "AC" charger.
This is the other one I have and which works fine with my phone, although I have not specifically tested it with the Tablet (I have no reason to expect it would behave any differently):
HTC T-Mobile myTouch 3G Car Charger
Obviously, I can't be held responsible if somebody else has a different experience with these, or has problems because of it. Just trying to be helpful and report what has worked for me.
You might consider the i-Blason 12V 2A MINI BULLET STYLE CAR CHARGER FOR ASUS Eee TRANSFORMER from Amazon (Sorry, but noobs can post links)
It's compact, uses your existing cable and delivers 12 VDC @ 2 A. Under $10 US.

It may work, or it may not. Drawing on my experience with the Galaxy Nexus, there were quite a few car chargers that had specs like this but which in fact were seen as "USB" chargers when used with the Nexus, and I suspect would behave the same way with the TF700T.
I am not an eletrical engineer, but it has something to do with how certain pins are shorted or not, and not all chargers that say they deliver the higher amperage will in fact do so with all devices.
It'll just take somebody to buy and try, and report what does or doesn't work. Per my post above, the chargers that work with my Nexus also work with my Tablet, in being seen as "AC" charging.

Don
I have one on order and will pick it up at my daughter's when we go to the US next month. Will post what I learn.
HOWEVER - a true "USB Charger" provides a 5VDC output, not 12- 15 VDC, as does the i-Blason unit I mentioned. Note that i-Blason states very clearly, "Warning: Pls do not use with other MP3 or smartphone... High Voltage could cause burn out."
The difference many smartphones (and other USB ported devices) detect in "USB Chargers" versus "AC Chargers" is max current available (<0.5 A vs >1.0 A) For example, I have a USB battery and a video cam that will both fail to illuminate the charging light if connected to a charging source below about 0.75 A, but still charge, albeit slowly. Both came with 1.5 A USB (5 VDC) wall chargers.
Since the i-Blason is a 12 VDC, not a 5 VDC output, the odds are high it will charge the Transformers at a rate very similar to the wall charger. At least based on electrical "theory". If I had to blind pick a third party car charger, the specs for the i-Blason, to include using the stock cable, were what influenced my choice.

[Q] Can I use a Blackberry Charger?

Someone at work today was throwing away an old blackberry charger, and i was wondering if it is safe to use it with my phone.
My LG Charger says this:
Output: 4.8V 1.0A
Blackberry Charger:
Output: 5.0 V 700mA
I assume the lower mA won't hurt anything, but will the extra .2 volts be that bad? It seems like most phones call for 5V anyway, was LG just trying to play it safe? (I don't know much about the laws of electricity...)
It's fine. I use a 5v charger as well and nothing should happen. (A computer puts out 5V to the USB). My guess is that it'll be a bit slower to charge because of the lower mA

The 0.2v difference is nothing. As long as the connector is a MicroUSB connector, more than likely it will work. I have come across some chargers that are MicroUSB in nature that do not work, but they are rare.
I use a blackberry charger for mine just because i like how long the cord is for when i use it on the charger. Also I use my kindle charger and a samsung one as well never had one issue.
i use my old blackberry charger from my 9700 as my main charger. also, i use the charger for my playbook to charge my phone occasionally as well

Charger and cable specifics

Even after cruising through some searches, I'm still trying to nail down the specifics of the cable and charger. The charger says it runs at 2A at 5v or 1.2A at 15v. Does anyone know why it has two listed and which mode it actually uses when plugged in?
Also, I'm interested in 'extending' the 5 foot charging cable and have seen it suggested to use a USB 3.0 extension cable. Can anyone confirm that this will work okay?
Lastly, I'm looking at the Antec UA4-25 charger to sorta consolidate my charging needs. Anyone have any feedback on this and whether it will work okay with the TF700 and/or a USB 3.0 extension like I mentioned above?
Thanks for any feedback!!

The charger can actually output both voltages. The 5V is used to charge regular USB devices. When you plug a Transformer, one of the USB3 cable pins is used for identification of the tablet. The charger then switches to 15V voltage. See this and this threads.
Any USB3 extension cable should be OK to use. I haven't tried that myself, but I'm sure it would work.
