[APP] [REQ] GPS Tethering app ? - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Hi there,
got a pretty simple question...I guess...
is anybody aware of a GPS tethering app?
I mean, I'd like to use my N1 as a GPS receiver to be used with my pc or any other device and share gps signal.. via BT or USB, something like that...
Tried to have a search in the market, but nothing similar seems to be there...
Ideas?

found one gps-to-wifi app
I am also looking for same app and found one named brmgps which uses wifi instead of bluetooth but it uses different format rather than using nmea format.I tried bluenmea with my laptop but android bluetooth is very buggy. I am using Xperia X10 mini pro.

HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing - doesn't work?

Hi,
Now that I've unlocked my TG01, I was hoping to use my data SIM in it and convert it to a MiFi, one of those portable WiFi access points.
I have tried HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing which installs fine on the phone. It also seems to run and looks like it has set up an ad-hoc network.
However, there are a few problems:
The WiFi does not automatically turn on when you launch the program.
None of my WiFi enabled devices (PCs, phones, internet tablets) can 'see' the WiFi access point.
I'm just wondering whether this is because the program isn't really working, or has something to do with my other devices.
Anyone have success with this program?

on my TG01 work fine! i have in all my cooked ROM´s this suite
AL_CommManager_Suite_with_WifiSharing_1_1.cab
you can test my ROM or install this cab. to work on TG01 you need this Reg change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\AR6K_SD1"

Miro im using your ROM release but for the life of me cant get the wifi sharing to work, well it works and it doesnt. I can see the connection on my laptop and i've managed to connect only the internet doesnt work and it says 'identifying ... no internet access' ? This is under Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Any ideas ?
i´m now in this moment take wifi router from my TG01 to connect the internet with my Win7 32bit Laptop. i think the problem is not TG01- the Problem is you network/firewall settings
best internet sharing you have in marketplace for free, work veary good. sorry for my bad eanglish
I've only just got the htc wifi sharing app to work properly, but if you ask me its not so great. The reason why i struggled so much to get it to work in the past is that you have to keep resetting your data conection until suddenly it works ? Even then i find it goes off every 10 mins so your constantly turning your data connection on and off which isnt very convenient. I suppose its nice to be able to set up wifi as a hotspot but for me i just cant use it ...
Instead i've started using the usb method with the windows internet sharing app, this never resets and is a proper solid and stable connection. I've even bridged it to the ps3 and managed to play online games with it. The only issue of course is the NAT type, for any sort of gaming to work you need port forwarding at the very least and since were only getting nat type 3 theres quite a few issues.
I have found a nice app called ICS Control which claims to be able to manage ports, etc but i havent quite figured out how it works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377047 Any ideas ?

i already used that reg tweak on the comm manager from your ROM thanks anyway. the phone switch, bluetooth, or WiFi switch do nothing.g when i press them. so idecided to install another comm mnager (htc) it works but i cannot use the WiFi router function :/
Thanks anyway!
Not sure why the wifi comm manager isnt working for you but id recommend trying miro's rom, the one which allows you to switch between sense, spb, and windows default. This is the only rom i've managed to get wifi sharing working on so id really recommend you try miro's rom .
On another subject, i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to share my tg01's internet connection to the pc but give it a static ip address. The problem with sharing without a static ip is certain sites recognise your ip has changed and log you out. Lets say i've wrote a huge message on and my ip changes, i click submit and that message is lost for good ! Its getting quite annoying since this constantly happens on ebay and pretty much any site that requires a log in, i've had to start copying and pasting my text just in case.

[Q] Bluetooth DUN CLIENT?

Hello,
I have a nook color and a "dumbphone" (samsung s5600) which has 3G and bluetooth, but no wifi. On my ipod touch, i use an app called iBluever to share my phone's 3g connection over bleutooth to my ipod touch.
I've searched and searched, but couldn't find an android app to do that. There is one PDAnet, but your phone has to be an android phone too, in order to work because you can't enter APN info in the client app.
Does someone know an app to let me share my dumbphone's 3G connection over bluetooth to my android tablet?

Not sure if your phone can create the PAN socket needed, but if so...
I think my phone supports PAN, so this should be perfect!
But i can't download it from the market. It gives me a download error every time it try. Can someone provide a link to an apk?
Solved the problem and installed the app.
But how do you setup a PAN network? Is there a J2ME app for thatN

[Q] TomTom wireless GPS mkII

has anybody succeeded in connecting and using the TomTom wireless GPS mkII to the Desire HD running Sense rom? it's an amazing antenna and it doesn't need internet to work which is a huge plus for me.
if so, please help me do the same.
thanks
a little review of the unit

Should be easy.
Pair the bluetooth as you would pair any other bleutooth device.
Now there are several free GPS tools on the market which allow you to use the external GPS module.
Just search on 'bluetooth gps' on the market and you are set to go.
When you say it doesn't need internet to work, does it mean you can use google maps with it without internet connection?

It should work the same as the internal GPS receiver only that it is more sensitive probably.
The question of using data through a internet connection actually has nothing to do with the gps receiver but with the program itself.

when you use the regular GPS module of the phone itself, because it's rather weak, unless you have a correct setting for AGPS it will take it quite a while to get a lock.
if you use something like the TomTom wireless GPS, you don't use the weak receiver in your phone and have better satellite reception.
that doesn't NOT mean that you can use google maps without actually downloading them beforehand. ie, any program you would like to use must have the maps in it already.

[Q] Full Bluetooth DUN support?

Hi,
I'm currently running a stock Desire S and whilst I'm generally very happy with it there's one glaring omission - Bluetooth DUN tethering. I want to use my phone with the Mercedes Comand Online system, which uses Bluetooth DUN to connect to the internet. The default answer seems to be to use PdaNet, but I have tried the latest version 3.02 and it doesn't work. I know PdaNet works in as much as I can connect my laptop over DUN, but it won't connect through the car. I did wonder if it was because my phone is set up to use a proxy server on its connection but there's nowhere to enter this in the car - having said that, though, I did no configuration on my laptop and it just worked. I emailed June Fabrics who say they will try to support this in some future release, but in the mean time is there any other option?
Cheers,
Tim
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but was looking all over the place to check how to get full bluetooth support with the DUN profile on my stock HTC Desire S.
Like tj80, I'm also keen to connect my Desire to my car (Toyota with the new Touch&Go system, which has DUN/PAN support).
Any ideas are welcome
I have the exact same issue with my merc as well. pdanet just doesn't work.
I don't really want to use a blackberry

I emailed JuneFabrics about PDA Net and also MobileStream about Easy Tether - both said they "might" implement full DUN but it's not a priority. I really don't understand why nobody thinks it's important given that it's the standard way of connecting mobile phones to other devices for data - TomToms for live traffic, lots of car manufacturers, etc, there was even an article on the BBC website today about how connected cars were the next big thing!
Cheers,
Tim
Download BlueDUN Trial app from Google Play, it works fine for Mercedes Benz Comand OnLine and also for Toyota Touch&Go (from version 1.12 )
New version was tested for Tom Tom Rider too
Thanks MikiBest. You made my day! Glad I could be of help

[Q] USB/Bluetooth GPS

Hi there,
I'm loving my Surface so far (Had it for two weeks) and would like to know if anyone has managed to pair it with a USB or Bluetooth GPS unit?
If yes, does it work well with the included Bing maps? Or are there any other good apps for use with a GPS?
I potentially have two uses for the device with GPS enabled.
1) As a navigation device
2) As a GPS logger that can log my position and export the data to be used in Photoshop Lightroom to geotag my photos.
If anyone has done this can they please share with GPS device you have tried and how your experiences have been?
I was hoping that using my Android phone as a WiFi hotspot would allow Bing maps access to the GPS location of my phone...but I don't think it works.
I was able to pair it with my BT GPS but no luck actually getting any apps to work with it...

Do you guys have the Windows location platform enabled? I think it may be off by default, which prevents apps from getting your location even when the OS has it.
Open Start, type "location", and look under Settings.
