I thought they said they have not got it approved yet from Apple. That is why they probably started iPhone first, the approval process could take months.

yahoos reply in response to my email:
Hello,
Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Messenger.
Before I go into addressing your concern, I'd like to first apologize
for the delay in my responding to your inquiry. We are committed to
answering your questions as quickly and accurately as possible. However,
we are currently receiving unusually high volumes which caused the
delayed response.
I understand you wish to have more information regarding the ability to
use video calling features in Yahoo! Messenger for Android.
Thanks for your suggestion of a new feature for Yahoo! Messenger for
Android. The current version of Yahoo! Messenger for Android doesn't
have this feature right now, but we appreciate that you took the time to
tell us about what you'd like to see in a future version.
I'll pass your suggestion on to the Yahoo! Messenger Product Team and
they will put it under consideration for a future release. (Our
development cycles can be quite lengthy, so please don't expect to see
it right away if they decide to include it.) However, be assured that we
are continually striving to make Yahoo! Messenger the best messenger
product on the market, and your suggestions help us to decide what is
most important to our customers.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let us know as
soon as possible.
We appreciate your reporting this to us -- your input helps us to
identify ways to constantly maintain and improve our service.
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Messenger.

Wow nowhere in that response does it say that it is coming at all, just says they are continuing to develop, that kinda sucks since we know it is on the myTouch HD, well, I had messenger installed and on auto update but after reading that letter I guess I am gonna uninstall and free up some space It just drives me nuts that we have one of the most capable handsets on the market and we can't get a damn phone to comp. video chat app, that is like the LAST thing that I want my Evo to do, C'est la vie

Hey guys has anyone managed to get hold of this yet?
I think it may be an amazing idea. I'd be interested to know if you can make widgets with it too.

I think because they are easy to code.
Fortunately I have read the Google faq and the question of apps flooding the market is asked.
This is the answer:
Currently there are technical limitations to being able to upload an App Inventor app to the Andorid Market but we are actively evaluating the best way to integrate with the Market.

Download the source from Google App inventor and find the code that gets detected and change it around a bit.
Thats how most things get past detection.
HOWEVER, I will not do this of course, I am going to use App inventor for personal apps or publish it out of the market.
I have a strange thing how I learn programming, I tend to learn more from examples of code and I have learned LUA(For Gmod) and PAWN(for AMXX) but those are scripting languages.
Some App inventor apps might be worth to be on the market.
There is already lots of messy apps out there but the rating system takes care of that.
I got my invite Monday but haven't got around to trying it out yet, but i don't think you'll be able to make complex apps with this i might take a look at it next week if i get a chance i'll let ya'll know if its really game changing or not .

Got my invite as well. So far looking good. Nice GUI plus response. I find it WAY faster than Trillian Beta, although some Skype and Video exchange might be good for next release

"Also, please understand that the build is only for folks who have registered with us for the beta program and is not intended to be shared with any one. "

That's cute, but why should someone have to Google something that someone's advertising. Obviously if you announce that something out its to garner interest, no? With that being the case, ways the harm in typing even a one sentence description? Seems pretty common sense.
And I just realized that the last two responses before that post could've been a simple description as well, but acting like someone doesn't know what Google is in an Android forum seems to take priority over posting something useful.
Anyways for anyone who doesn't know, it's a messenging client for multiple services. I love things like trillian on my pc so ill be waiting for this one

[Q] No MSN/Live Messenger on WM7?

I've searched this and many results did come up, but they were pretty old posts. As of today is there any official WM7 MSN/Live Messenger yet? Or can anyone recommend me a decent one? Please don't recommend me IM+ or Miyowa as they are both pretty bad for my taste or they don't work as intended (either laggy or a bad layout, or not easy to use)
Many thanks!

Did you really think that Microsoft will not spam and force its live messenger on is? I won't be surprised if they reserve one whole live tile in front for its hotmail and messenger on front screen which you can't remove .. Just like its useless bing search button which is nothing more than a shortcut to bing search webpage after the upcoming mango update. A whole one big ass dedicated key just a short cut to a webpage.

You do realize that live messenger is the largest chat service in the world right? Also its paired with facebook chat which is the third. So no, Microsoft isnt forcing anything on you, they're just using whats already the most popular.

No, they are not. Open IE, go to www.google.com, search for what you want with google. There's even registry hacks to change the default IE search to Google. BTW, WP7 is a MS product so it will have MS products integrated just like Android has Googles stuff & iPhone has Apple's stuff. End of story, just like I told FiyaFleye in your thread to be civil, so should you. This thread has nothing to do with search anyway so you are off topic & violating XDA ToS. Stay on topic & be civil.

Microsoft have released the official Messenger app for Android.

It's been a long time coming in my eyes, but it would appear Microsoft have finally released the official app for Messenger on Android.
It showed up as a pop-up for me when I signed into Messenger, but for any of you that want the link here it is.
Also, the link on the live.com website: http://explore.live.com/messenger-m...ea=TEXT_CIMS017584_Messenger_EN-GB_1X1_129124
A few things I've observed are that it doesn't show up in the notification bar when signed in, unless you receive a message and it doesn't let you sign in in more than one place. Not huge problems but annoying nonetheless.
I hope you guys enjoy it.
EDIT: Also just noticed that on the market it's released by "WithYou INC" which is odd, but that's the link I was given in the popup.

It does seem like it's non-ms, but it's advertised on the live.com website, as shown here: http://explore.live.com/messenger-m...ea=TEXT_CIMS017584_Messenger_EN-GB_1X1_129124
It's not so reassuring without Microsoft in the app title or description as opposed to WithYou inc.
But like ADeadlySpoon said above - there are a couple of links via the explore.live.com site.

Ahh... you're running MIUI on ICS.
We are aware of the problems with Viber on ICS, and working this very moment to fix it.
As you know, many fundamental changes were made on ICS (not only visual improvements). In order to adapt Viber to ICS the best way and make sure we don't release a half-baked app, we need some time for developing and testing.
We estimate that the release would take up to several weeks, but we wouldn't want to guarantee a specific release date at this stage.
Once we have any news we'll keep you posted - we apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
this makes me feel like reading a newspaper lol

Are you a politician ?
We're a company.
As much as we would have loved to develop everything as soon as possible and throw promises in the air, we also have to be realistic and a little restricted with guaranteeing things to our users, because we don't want them to be disappointed, nor do we want to not live up to our promises and estimates
It has nothing to do with being a politician... just credibility of a business

Ok.. So here's my question. I emailed your team and submitted a trouble ticket, as subsequently advised after my initial email, regarding the incompatibility with ICS. That was over six weeks ago. In fact the sdk for Android 4.0 has been out even longer than that! So what's the delay? Is there only one coder working on this? Why have Tango, Skype, Fring, et al, been able to release compatible apps before the Galaxy Nexus was even released.. Yet Viber can't..?
I'm asking a serious question, primarily because of how frustrating it is. I'm now stuck using an inferior product (Tango) as a stop-gap, and all I want is Viber to work with ICS already!

First, I want to agree with this guy, but then again viber does treat their product with care and quality work so that's why they are that much better. I'm holding off on Ics just because of viber so I understand your frustration. I don't want to use tango cuz it's not great.

I wouldn't want to make any comparisons to other products. I can tell you about ourselves that traditionally, we've always preferred delaying releases until we're much more calm about its functionality and quality, rather than releasing it simply as soon as possible, so we are in line with all the other communication applications who released it since day 1.
This time we might have been a little under-prepared, that's true, but still it is important to note that Andriod 4.x user percentage among all Android users is still very, very low. If we were to follow the "usual" criteria for devoting resources within a company, you would see how that couldn't be our first priority.
However, we are working on it as hard as we can (with more than one coder! haha) and we should have good news soon. I'll keep you posted
It has been almost a month, care to give us some details on the progress?
Is viber going to be available to users of Android 4.x anytime soon?
it looks like they are still coding for the new system
@Casilan,
We have made some serious progress in the past couple of weeks, and the end is certainly in sight.
We still don't have an exact release dates, but we estimate it will take up to several weeks for it to be fully ready and released to Market.
Note that our development team is working around the clock to complete it ASAP. We apologize for the delay, but it's important to understand that it's delayed because we want to ensure that the app is released free of bugs. Stay tuned for news - it's coming soon.
