Widget & App Idea: MemoWord (Mental diary)) - Android Apps and Games

Hello.
If any of you would like to develop this application I would be happy.
I have created a very simple one myself, but I'm not a good java & Android programmer.
Here goes:
The purpose of the app is to provide a new word every day for a mental diary. If there are things happening during the day that I want to remember I would create mental images/associations with the daily memory word. I would also like to be able to scroll through a list of all the memo words, and also select from a calendar to see the memo word for a given date. There will be 366 words - restarting with the same words for every year.
So there it is: a widget showing this day's memo word (with color and font configuration) + listing of memo words + calendar selector.
If anyone is interested I would like to know.
Regards,
tbergset

To-do list application for a student

Hello,
I'm looking for the app, which will allow me to display upcoming tasks on the today screen (in a list). I'm a student and I will use this to be up to date with all the projects and upcoming exams.
I don't want to use "appointment" as a way to have the exam in calendar, cause sometimes I'm absent at school and I simply forget, that I didn't write the test. I can't mark if the appointment had happened, so it simply displays as "done".
I'd like the app to show me stuff in categories, not to use much memory. Something like agenda for all the things, that will appear in the future (and also those, which I didn't mark 'complete' in the "past" section). Maybe some of you have simillar needs? I did a little search, but wasn't satisfied with the results.
Awaiting for your resposne

What are some good apps for note taking and diary?

I am itching to use my new Note for extensive note taking and writing, but I haven't come across any apps like penultimate on the iPad. I'm through and through an Android user but I have to admit the apps on iOs are much more polished. sNote is good but if anyone knows a really polished note taking app, please let me know.
I spent quite a bit of time yesterday looking for a diary app but almost all the apps are typing-based and the ones for inking seem not very mature. Can someone suggest a really good diary app with date, weather, etc. added to that day's entry, allows entry with the sPen and is visually appealing?

Not sure about weather but have a look at FreeNote and Papyrus. if you search this thread few people have recommended it and provided some good comparison.
Try `jotter´ its not too mature but its worth a while.

Try this

Not sure if there's a free version of it

Hi
there is an evernote add on skitch that lets you take notes using S-pen
also the page of skitch is almost infinitely big,
you write in the entire page pinch shrink and whola you have a lot more space...
I think it depends on what your note taking process is (or what you want it to be).
I tried every note taking app I could find and decided Freenote+ was the best for me.
I made a demo video of it here which might help give you an idea of how I use it.
But that was when I was on GB. Now I'm on ICS, I need to find some time to check out some of the other apps that I couldn't use before...
For me, LectureNote is the best.

Depends on what kind of note taking you are trying to do. LectureNote is a really good app for notetaking and seems like it would be perfect for a student.
You could also try Quill.
+1 for Lecture Notes on ICS. Has even succeeded with rendering my beloved fountain pen obsolete ;-)

[App request] An app for couples

Ok i have used 'Pair' and like the premise but think an app could be created that is MUCH better. I do not have the skills, just the ideas..
The app, which i have tenatively named "Just Us" would be designed for couples to keep in touch, share informationo and manage their time. It would include the following.
Built in private messaging
Basic text funtions
emoji
sharing pictures (from gallery or capture)
voice notes
Productivity
Calendar (posibly tied into the system calendar)
alarms/reminders
ToDo list(s)
check-ins ('Made it home', 'Goint to lunch', 'working late', gps map location, etc...)
Games
Tic-tac-toe
revirsi
cards
other simple fun stuff (checkers etc) could be add in that connect to other apps (downloadable/partners/etc)
Security
Pin/pattern to open app
maybe encryption for downloads folder
posibly propriatary image format even if just ziped with alternate extention (you know why)
Now the Pair app has a Thunbkiss feature so that if both users are in the app at the same time they can "touch" thumbs through the scree and the phone vibrates. This is very cute but there is no alert to let the other user know their mate is waiting for a kiss.
I believe that the app has a market if done right and i would love to be involved with the development and testing. I want to learn but i need someone who knows what they are doing.
Thoughts??

[APP] Shift Schedule Android™ app

Shift Schedule with alarm clock and handy month scroller for shift workers.
Sorry, but I have not permissions to post links yet
You can find it on Google Play by "Shift Schedule" name.
Main Program Features:
Unlimited count of schedules;
Shift color markup;
Independent shift alarm clock;
Easy switch between teams;
Easy schedule files sharing;
Day view (NEW);
Edit color for shift types;
Payment day indicators.
This is an application for Android™ which helps to organize a shift pattern for people who work in rotating shift as well as for their friends, as well as for all their friends, acquaintances and relatives.
Приложение позволяет создавать и отслеживать периодические посменные графики работы.
Shift Schedule allows to create and to trace periodical rotating shift schedules.
Analysing users’ experience of using such applications I learnt what main trouble for users is creating and adjusting own shift pattern. In Shift Schedule setup your patterns is made even more than easy. But if you have any ideas about making this process more easily, please email me or to technical support email.
Rotating shift work implies what on the same working place toil several teams which change each other.
Shift Schedule is the one among few applications, which consider this fact. Schedule concept is inextricably linked with team which works on it. Shifts and their order is the same for all teams but they are shifted in time. So when you will create your schedule, list all your shifts and go to “teams” tab. Here you can set team’s first shift date. Now you have your schedule adjusted!
Consider what you can not only type for each shift (Day shift, Swing shift and so on), but also its name for example as “1-st A”, “3-st B”.
Shift Schedule has built-in alarm clock. You can set alarm for each shift independently, and alarm settings do not depend from shift type. When you have alarms added, do not forget enable it in settings by enabling appropriate check box and select your schedule and team. When you will moved to another team, just specify new team in settings.
For coordinate your shifts with the ones from another schedule, application has Day Viewer feature. Make long press on calendar cell, and you will see screen where you will find shifts for all your teams from all your schedules. Scroll them horizontally to move to another date.
More information about another Shift Schedule features read on Google Play.
My future development plans:
Shift begin-end time and shift duration, work time statistic.
Add a couple widgets.
Setting the days (holidays, for example) which will not be counted in schedule
Function which you can suggest.
Application is absolutely free and without ads. The main motivation factor is your appreciation.

Thanks for using Shift Schedule
Speaking about 4-day shift pattern, I think it is something like in attachment. Unzip it to /sdcard/Android/com.ochkarik.shiftschedule/schedules where Shift Schedule can find it.
Also you can watch video about creating own schedule on application site.

I'm thinking a lot about ability to show all teams for one day, shift calendar makes it by original way, but you need get used a little... It is no problem to do so if you have no more than 3 shifts per day - day, swing and night. But users asked me (and I did yet ) to add some other shift types. Version 3.8 will have additional shift types - Diurnal shift Type (or All Day Shift, I don't know how will be right in English), Morning Shift Type, and three user shift types. Also I have plans to add dialog for select additional indication type - user can select what to show - shift start time, alarm clock time or shift short name on the bottom of cell in calendar(Short name field will be added to shift editor). I can add something like "teams list" to this dialog, and user can select indication type you ask, but what logic I need to realize to get right indication string? (I understand if day will have morning, day, swing, night shifts, but what about rest types?)

It is because my poor English ((
Download link on application site now lead to 3.8. (I will update information on site a bit later). You can try it - make long press on calendar cell and select "Working teams" as indication type. For now it is on number format only (1234 instead ABCD). Is it what you want?
PS: Can somebody add links please (I have not permissions yet )

The Number format is not important, my teams are 1 2 3 and 4. There is a little bug in classic decoration mode where the team numbers are under the decoration, if you combine the working start time and above team numbers, It will look ok? Maybe the pop up widow will be composed of check boxes, with the condition of only to to be selected, because I don't think more info will enter in that box. eventually moving them (check box) up and down depending on user preferences.
About the team number's it think you should put a field somewhere in the team tab in settings, basically where user ca pot a initial for the team
PS: somewhere in the forum there ware 2 topics where you could post a few messages and pass that restriction of 10 posts or something, when I was registered there was none.

I have plans to add feature for using external alarm clocks with my application. There are a lot of Alarm Clock applications with many clever features and some people want to use them with Shift Schedule. Now I'm looking for an Alarm Clock applications which support ACTION_SET_ALARM action. One of them is XTreme alarm clock. Also, of course, system alarm clock supports whis action. Does anybody want to have this feature?
It will be a cool feature but not necessary, I for example have a lot of alarm clocks, I get bored, every morning seeing the same screen.
Not that this will be a problem anymore since I got a shift job now. The idea is that there are many alarm clocks out there and you will create a problem for yourself supporting them, I'm not sure how it's done but If you need to support them individually you better not

Oh, no :0) It's a bit easier. Instead turning on internal alarm clock I can just ask Android to do that for me. It will set system alarm clock or another one (if you have it, of course), which have support for broadcast message ACTION_SET_ALARM. Usually first time you will have dialog like on screenshot, and if you will check "Always", this application will be used default for all next actions.
System Alarm Clock has that advantage, what it works always (instead almost always as all other ones do on some devices) .
Okay then, Since I'm you're only fan from xda right now, I like it

And, at last, I can post link to my application on Google Play.
By the way, it has very good positions in Russia - very close to first hundred of "Top Free in Productivity". I hope people here would help me to understand what is wrong with the application for English speaking users
Shift Schedule Translation
Hello again to all.
I have one review on Google Play for my app:
Very complicated with poor to little instructions This app looks good and has potential, but what let's it down is the translation. There are no obvious ways of adding a shift on a day by day basis and as a result, the app is not helpful me. However I can imagine the app being helpful if understood.

It is true, and I need to do something with that situation.
Shift Schedule Home Site was updated and filled with a lot of information last weeks. Now I have started to translate it to English.
I know I'm not very good in English, so maybe somebody can point me to my mistakes and to places in manual what are not clear for understand.
After loading site is on Russian, but there are "eng" button in header, press on it to switch language.
Now only description of homepage, and part of page about creation own schedule are translated to English. Do you think I can continue or maybe I need to looking for somebody who make this job better?
Thanks.
Shift Schedule 5.0
Shift Schedule app has been updated to version 5.0

[APP] Capsa Notes - A Note Taking App

Hi guys, I created a note taking app... hey! don't run away! This one is different, really.
I started developing a note taking app following my personal wishlist:
- Offline access.
- Option to sync the notes with my computer, but hopefully using.
- Read the notes easily with any text editor.
- Simple formatting.
- Simple organization with tags and folders.
So I started developing Capsa Notes, and then, as a former ORG-Mode user (not a power user though), new ideas came into my mind.
Capsa Notes saves your notes in plain text in your device. So if you want to read them without using Capsa Notes, it's OK. And if you add a new text file in the Capsa Notes folder, you will see the note in the app. The notes can have simple formatting using Markdown, so you can easily add bullets, numbered lists, titles, etc. It has a nice Markdown editor with buttons for the most common format options. And has Dropbox sync out of the box.
If you want a quick introduction, here's a video:
Capsa Notes is intended to be as simple as the user wants. I mean, if you want basic features, there they are, and you will be using it in no time. But also it has some advanced features that makes Capsa Notes like a simple (not fast, sorry) non-relational database, flexible enough to use it for... well almost anything I guess, it has a lot of possibilities.
I use it to store recipes, keep a log of the wines I've tasted (and then remember if it was good or not, or which type statistically I like the most), quick reminders, todo lists, shopping lists, write ideas for short stories...
Basic use
The notes are plain text files with the .md extension.
So in my desktop computer I can add a note in my Dropbox folder, and I'll have it on my device as soon as it has been synchronized.
Notes can have tags. Tags are saved directly in the text file, so you don't have to worry if you take the note somewhere else, as the tags will still be there. Then you can filter the notes by tags using the sliding drawer, where the used tags are listed.
Now, the folders: Capsa Notes uses folders in a slightly different way. Each folder must be associated to a note. So basically, in Capsa Notes, folders are notes that can contain subnotes (in fact, the folders are called Capsas for make the differentiation from a standard folder). In the app you don't have to do anything special, just create a note and then attach a folder to it using the action menu. Then you can add subnotes (and subnotes to each subnote if you want, and so on). If you want to manually create a Capsa (that is, a note with a folder attached), create a note, and then create a folder with the same name as the note without the extension. That's it.
You can import websites in Capsa Notes, they will be converted to Markdown (I created this project for that purpose, if someone wants to contribute, is more than welcome), and has a simple article extractor based on Boilerpipe for retrieving the main content.
Your notes can be shared as a plain text file from the app, and also as a html file. If the note contains images, the image will be reduced and encoded in the HTML file.
You can create templates too, so in case you want to add always the same note structure with minor changes, you will be prompted with a dialog asking for the fields you defined in the template (check the video for an example).
Advanced use
Notes can have variables. You add the variables defining them with a dollar sign and then the variable value. For example $milk 2 means that the variable milk will have a value of 2. Variables can be text (if you want to use spaces, surround the text with quotation marks), numbers (you can use periods) or dates (in ISO 8601 format).
The variables can be used for queries, so you can create customized lists based on these variables (list the notes that have $date lower than today). Capsa Notes has a simple query editor.
Queries can be inserted inline with the text too. So you can have a note with a lot of subnotes, and then have in the text, for example, the total sum of the variable $price displayed in the main note. For adding a query, surround it with ${ and }. Queries format is very similar to SQL with some differences, you can check a simple reference here.
Capsa Notes also have Tasker integration (only in the full version). So you can trigger a task if a query matches a certain condition, or assign a Tasker variable the result of a query, and then do whatever you want with it in Tasker.
And that's it mostly. I hope you like it, keep in mind it's still in beta, but stable enough for daily usage (at least for me).

I hope you enjoy it! Stay tuned for updates.
I just found the app 30 mins ago while i was browsing google play for outliners/note taking apps.
My first impression of it is very good so i googled it and this thread showed up, even better.
I like the idea of the structure and everything being easily modifiable with text editor on computer.
I will migrate my notes and use it for a couple of days and see if it fits me as good as it looks.
Nice work so far.

I'm glad you liked it. This las couple of weeks I've been really busy, so I'm focusing primarily on bug fixes. In a couple of hours an update should be live. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.
Cheers
Nice, i look forward to the update.
So far i like it very much.
I've actually written down some suggestions as i tested it this morning (ofcourse i wrote them in your app )
If someone was having issues when adding images in notes with a filename containing non ASCII characters, it should be solved in the current version.
Also a couple of crashes when trying to move or delete a note before it was fully loaded.
Here are some stuff i wrote down as i tested it. I've found one minor bug, i have some suggestions and then some bigger suggestions that i imagine will take some time to implement (if you choose to).
Buggs:
"Loading note..." is stuck when created a new entry (not after editing).
Suggestions:
Making a "home" button to quickly navigate back to the start position, pehaps placed in the toolbar.
Adding so swiping works like this: List -> Note -> Home (or up one step).
Maybe add something on the front page that displays how the hierarchy looks for the notes with folders?
Something like "3 sub folders, 15 notes" just to get a quick overview.
Adding something to be able to delete notes without entering the notes one by one and pressing menu button to get the option.
Being able to mark several notes for deletion at the same time.
Adding a button like a "trash can" next to the "check" symbol when creating/editing to cancel or escaping without saving.
It would be nice to be able to change the width separator on split view.
It would be great to be able to scale the markdown bar. I for example use the galaxy note 3 and the icons are unneccessairly big on these big devices.
It would be nice to set your own colors for notes and folders.
Being able to set a real title for the note/folder that also becomes the file/folder name, instead of automaticly assigning it.
The move note, delete note and attach new folder under the menu button could maybe be icons on field that says "Notes" and take you one level up for quicker access.
When viewing a note, swiping left/right to change notes in the folder.
Big suggestions:
Being able to chose to have your kind of documents (.md) or just using it as a smart text editor with ".txt" extension.
Perhaps set this option when creating a folder so every note beneath it is formatted like that.
And maybe a selection if you want to use your header or not in the note?
When accessing the sidebar inside a note it would be nice to see the wole hierarchy, like a navigational tree.
Maybe with shortcuts so you can jump inside the navigational tree.
Adding alternatives for sorting notes in folders. Like created/edited/alphabeticly/tag (the usuals) acending/decending. And having "own" as well when you want to manually sort them.
This one is alittle bit linked to the suggestion to be able to choose a costum filename.
Support for handwritten notes? Nothing fancy like handwriting recognitions, but maybe like a simple "paint" function and saving them as pictures in the notes.
That's a lot of suggestions, thanks!
BTW, the loading note bug should be solved by now.
I will review the suggestions and get back here with what can be done, what is more unlikely, and what is incoming, thanks again!
Yes well its just suggestions, i hope you find something you like
I actually still got that loading bug. The note loads as it should but the text bubble is still there. Not a big problem though.
I've started using the app more frequently now, replacing my other note apps to get a deeper feel for it and i like the style so far. I use an app to sync the Capsa folder with my computer over wifi and then use notepad++ with an explorer extension to get tree viewing, so far it works great.
I like the open format of the app so far. Just a couple of suggestions and a question.
- The option of font size for notes is a welcomed addition. The font on the home screen didn't change. Could that be an option also?
- The insert date button uses the date dial which doesn't tell you what day of the week you are selecting. Google Keep and a few other apps use a calender date picker, which is much more functional.
Then the question: where are the .md files stored? I found some in /sdcard/Capsa Notes, but they all aren't there. I use Dropsync to synchronize with Dropbox and some files (mostly shared notes from other apps) aren't there.
I love that it's as complex as I want it to be and I can simply save notes directly into it (if I can find out where they're stored).
Good Notes!
Hi,
I'm searching for a note-taking app for a long time now and yours looks very, very promising!
My suggestions (and my needs) are as follows:
Folders
just plain folders in the root where you can put your notes in. At the moment the folders have to be attached to a note? a bit confusion. Maybe the folders could be Tabs on top of the screen just below the navigation.
Image Sizes
Images are Fullscreen in a Note, that is slow, even on my Quadcore Sony Tablet Z. maybe there should be an option how big the images should be displayed in a note (in percent) or if it should be full size or just with a thumbnail and clickable, which then displays the image.
Note Linking
why not have wiki-like notes-linking to other notes
Inline Links
Clickable inline links for URLs, maybe phone numbers, google maps coordinates, e-mails and other notes (note-linking)
Draging Notes
well, I think the draging notes function is IMHO not that usefull as they are just for sorting notes. Would'nt it be cool if the notes can be draged to a folder with that function.
Sorting
A small button on the top of the screen with sorting modes: Alphabet, Creation Date, Modification Date and Reversing the current Sort option
Searching
The most important point for a lot of notes, to find them fast. I'm missing a search field just on the top header. And an instant search would be really great to see the matching note titles, tags, note-text while you type. Maybe an option field nearby where we can choose what so search (tag or title or text or all of them)
Import
For new users with a lot of notes a import function would be great. I would suggest the easiest way would be a CSV or plain text import option via local or dropbox file should do the work.
Sync Options
Forgot to mention Sync options: small manual Sync Button on the main screen and a sync intervall in the options (1h, 3h, 5h, 1d, on change, on note save, etc.)
I think your app has really great pontential in the note-taking apps, because the dozens of apps which are available mostly have 2 or 3 of the features that would be great, but not all the mentioned, but you getting very close already now! Please go on and enhance your app. Would really appreciate this! :good:
I just bought the payed version to help you a bit to further develop your truly great app!
Greets,
Patrick.

I like the open format of the app so far. Just a couple of suggestions and a question.

Sorry for the late reply.
If you are not using Dropbox Sync within the app, the notes should be available in /sdcard/CapsaNotes. But you must be sure that you are not using the Dropbox option within the app.
About the date picker, I will look for a nicer solution, probably a calendar would be more useful. Let me know if you find your notes in the folder!
