Battery is Great on the Tunderbolt

Put it to a real test. Went to the grand prix today in st. pete.
Didnt even have a full charge around 90%. Had 4g on all day.. Brightness all the way up. Facebook , twitter, and 2 e-mail accounts running in the background. Took tons of video clips and tons of pictures, and streamed music through the bluetooth on the way home. As I type this its been 10 hours since it came off the charger and its at 50% battery with all the same items running.
At 1st I had very very bad battery life. But after using it for a few days and then doing a battery pull (read it would get better after all this) it has been working great, with the same or more use then I was doing the 1st few days of ownership. Just wanted to share a postive experience on battery life since I keep hearing and reading so many negative things.

I'm noob w battery. Do you mean just charge it full, pull it out and put it back in and it lasts you that much? I'm skeptical....The most I could have so far is 12 hours and I have 3 bars (out of 10) left.

The main reason people are having drain on 4g from what i heard was the software for the radio was re-written at the LAST minute (the reason for the delay) because they had to change their 700 MHz frequency just a bit higher.. something like 5 or 10 Mhz due to interference with with communication towers at airports. this sucker keeps dropping 4g like its no ones business. the new baseband which will be pushed out in the first update for the phone (hopefully in next month) should correct it.

Thats funny because i was at the gp today and my battery died before i left at 1p. Took a couple of pictures and 1 video. Used gps for like 10 mins and that was it. Stayed in my pocket for the rest of the day.

I Disabled my 4G with dialing the *#*#(forgot the 4 numbers)*#*# and my battery has been lasting me alot longer

I'm in a 4G area so I have the phone set to LTE mode only and I get great battery life.

I probably have the worst battery life ever... 70% before putting it away and not using it. 5 hours later, I check my battery and I'm at 10%!! I didn't even use it!

my battery was about to die on me today within 3 hours of being off the charger, granted it was with heavy use.. flashing multiple roms using titanium backup etc... but i still think that is asinine..

flashing roms will eat battery...once you are on a rom it takes a cycle or 2 to settle

The battery life on the TB is just as good as it was on my rooted dinc with a custom kernal. I have no complaints with stock unrooted TB so far and I use the **** out of it.

I turned off 4g and am going 16 hours on 50% battery. Really, to sit in my pocket, do calls, text, and check email I don't need 4g. I too noticed the 4g radio switching on and off constantly. Hopefully the baseband update will fix this.

It has more to do with where you live and how good your 4G coverage is

i get 12hrs easy with moderate use. All I've done is turn off the GPS services when not needed and disable the lock screen... hope things improve for everyone having issues... :/

I think he may be referring to the "bump" charge. Where you charge the phone to full, unplug it, turn it off, charge it to full again, unplug, turn it on, and charge it to full again. Not sure if this is an HTC thing or just a general lithium ion battery thing. But it helps IMO.
I get about 12 hours of battery life with moderate use. I little web surfing, lots of texting, light app usage. My phone is constantly switching from 4G to 3G when I'm indoors. Outside though I'm fine. I'm surprised about the different experiences people are having with battery life.
Since I can't get through a whole day without it dying I bought a second home charger on amazon. I'd like to get the extended battery, but it looks like it'd make this phone too big at that point. I wish there was some better battery tech coming out soon, since there hasn't been too much progression on that front.

Turn on the wifi radio. When you are home or anywhere you have access to wifi, the device will automatically turn the 4g radio off when wifi is up. That simple change has made a huge difference and I dont have to worry about turning the 4g radio on/off manually.

I've been seeing, under heavy use, at minimum 8 hours of use consistently since I've been through a few cycles, including bump charging the first few cycles. Also, a few things that greatly helped me:
Read somewhere that the stock blockbuster app, even if it has never been opened, has a service that updates the movie catalog in the background. Run the app, update it, and in settings turn off movie catalog updates. After doing this my battery didn't drain nearly as fast while in my pocket. I can't verify that this actually helps, but it did for me. I disabled the 4G radio since I live in a 3G area as well.
I also run Green Power as of this morning. My phone has been running over 12 hour with 3:30 of that being actual usage and I'm at 68% remaining. I have it set to 1 minute on and 10 off for data while it is locked in my pocket.
Beyond that, GPS is disabled unless I need it. So is WiFi. Brightness is at about 30%, with a widget to bump it to full when I'm outside in sunlight. I also noticed a big jump when I disabled HTC sense Facebook updates, and used stock Facebook instead. Every time I went to contacts it would download that contacts Facebook updates, which is pointless and uses data constantly under normal usage.
Of course your mileage may vary, but this all gets me through the day under normal usage, and over a half day under heavy usage.

I am currently at 8.5 hours with 79% left on my battery. Stock Battery. If I didn't have to work tomorrow, and be able to make phone calls and such I'd leave my phone unplugged all night to see how long it can go.

I'm assuming thats with Virus Rom as it says in your sig? If so, that makes me want to try it. I'm stock unrooted right now, haven't had time to invest in rooting the ADB original method yet, don't want to rush through it. When I do, I fully intend to try that rom out.

That was till the g2x. I hate running a task killer. But am about to do just that to see if I can get anymore battery,.
Its to the point where I fully charge phone and yesterday with only 12 minutes of talk. Maybe 20 minutes of Web use and some emails. Battery was yellow.
This is a joke right? My only thought is that by having my Gmail auto refresh every 10 minutes possibly that could be some cause. But I if not in my car to keep on charger phone last barely a day.

Sounds like you have a bad battery, I get great battery life with the phone

Totally true.
For those of you with problems, your phone is still new, it will be replaced either under buyer's remorse (15-20 days) or directly through tmobile after that period.
Just get a new phone and be done with it.
My first hot potato of a phone would get good battery life, until it cooked itself alive. My second phone was on for over 27 hours and was still at 50%. I'm still surprised.

First off guys. I am not a newbie to XDA or phones. No its not a bad battery.
Remember I am the Costco Manager so I can exchange phone as much as I want for 90 days.
This is my third as I wanted a perfect screen.
I have had this problem with all 3. So the battery is fine.
I use batt apk and I show about 5%loss per half hour after taking off charge
There is no way this is normal. Now I do have lots of apps. But I have froze some in Titanium. However I can blow out this charge in an hour with web use.]
No I did not calibrate. Did not read that till after. However I did charge initially correct.
My HD2 would gobble batterys. But this phone while I love it. Is not a great everyday use phone if not able to be on a charger during day.

Huh.. some people are getting awesome battery time. When it first came out, people were having success with doing factory reset on their phone. Idk.. I personally didn't buy it.. but they swore it worked. Give it a try.

So what you're saying then, is those of us with good battery life are the ones with the bad batteries? You really didn't think this through, did you?
I find my battery life was OK on the stock ROM. Nothing I'd get excited about, but I'd gotten used to insanely poor battery life running CM7 on my vibrant. Since I flashed the GB leak (no wipe, fixed permissions, erased battery stats) I'm seeing 18+ hrs with moderate usage.

gingerbread in general gets good battery life, cm7 for galaxy has problems due to samsung not following the google standards, those guys are basically shooting in the dark with that project, yet they have made huge improvments. recently people report decent to improved battery life on the latest builds.
to the op, what are your sync options? i find facebook sync and facebook contact sync are big culprits. also i only use google contact sync to get my contact list initially then turn it off. also if you have your gmail on the stock email app and the gmail app it can increase useage, if you prefer the email app id turn off google sync all together, if you like the gmail app id turn off fetch on the email app.
another culprit is weather apps using the location service, for me beautiful widgets is a battery hog on a vibrant rom but not on a captivate rom so results can vary from phone to phone.
and last of all i dont agree with calibration proceedures, i get some funky results with them, i just delete batstats and then charge to full. i find it takes 3 day minimum to get a good calibration, 5 days is sometimes needed.

I get very good battery life with mine and have been since day one. It lasts almost twice as long as my Vibrant and N1 did.

I use juice defender to turn on/off my data for me when its not being used and the screen is off. It seems to work less than on vibrant.
I'm running stock rom and my battery life varies TREMENDOUSLY from when I'm at work and seldomly using it to when I'm home surfing the web on it ( tablets too far from couch I'm surprised I got the cookies )

I was getting really bad battery life when I first got the phone (about 7hrs ) I ended up finding out that the touch led notification app was the culprit so I deleted it and also calibrated my battery and now my phone last all day easily and that with me playing guerrilla bob and the samurai game at work for like 2 hours lol
I recommend you download the where's my Droid power app from the market and see what's killing your battery

Also keep in mind that it could be a certain app draining your battery. I downloaded the NFL apparently for draft day and even after exiting the app it took my battery down 15% in a matter of 10 minutes. Not to mention it had my battery's and CPU running super hot. On average I get about 12 hours out of a full charge with moderate to heavy usage.

No wonder your a newbie and no listed thanks. What an asswade comment.
NO!!!!!!!!! What I am saying is that is has to be an internal issue with either synch times or possibly an APP be it internal or external that is causing MANY of us to have terrible battery times vs. others with good. Not saying anthing negative about those who are functioning ok.
I have been rooting and modding for 2 years. This is the worst battery usage yet. My Galaxy S 4g. Could last with same synch times and apps for 18 hours.
Now for those others who have there head inserted other then in there behind.
Okay ran some tests today,
1. Charged phone to 100percent.
2. Left everything the way it has been and no adjustments.
Battery at 84 Percent sitting tableside no text, app, wed or voice use after 2 hours. After 4 hours at 64 percent. After 6 hours at 51 percent. After 8 hours at 39 percent. This is with no usage. This is terrible.
Okay, Now have done following based on others test here and other forums.
1. Loaded Setcpu and made profile for sleep using stock 216 usage.
2. reluctently loaded Taskmanager Pro and killed all but needed apps.
3. Loaded Battery calibration app and after charge calibrated phone.
Left my email synch at every 10 minute as its needed for work.
We will see if this brings better test times now and report back.
What may be my culprit from studying this and other forums is I am in Seattle. We are Tmobiles home office corp and full test market for 4g and every change before rest of USA. I get full 4g at all times. In fact my speed tests are off the board. ave of 12 down 1.3 up speeds.
From what I am finding out, those of us in best 4g coverage (and Seattle is listed best) are finding much more drain on battery in standby and in use.
So my theory is that with this phone and its dual proccesor and my 4g, this is why myself and others in like markets are seeing much faster drain then others. Some dispute this possibility. however other experts say its fact.
Will report back findings tomorrow.

May be some of my issue vs. others.
I do have sync on for FB and Google mail 2 accounts. and I use Fancy Widgets for my Weather and news feeds. However I also used these on my HD2 a known battery hog running cm7 and it had even better life then the phone. I run them on my other Galaxy s 4g as well and it has awesome battery life.
But I will freeze these in my next test after running this test.

those are shocking results man... I dont know what to tell you... If I literally dont touch my phone for 6 hours i will drain no more than 10% of my battery, closer to around 6 or 7% based on my battery monitor widget...
I pulled the phone off at 6 this morning and didnt touch it until 12 and I was at 92%... Chelsea got ****ing spanked this morning and I got a barrage of **** talk text messages that I did not want to deal with haha so my phone wen untouched for a good 6 hours...
I will say though, when I first got the phone my battery life was pretty wonky... first drain was great, second one was mediocre, the third and fourth ones were horrible, drained in 6 hours flat of light-moderate use... I did a factory reset at this point to try and change things up... Calibrated once after that and I have run it up and down to get a good read and I have not looked back since, like i said i can get 20-30 hours of moderate to light use no problem at all!

Great battery on my g2x
I had battery problems with my G2x, only lasted about 7-8 hours on moderate use and cell stabd by was like 50% of battery use.
After i installed the leaked official Gingerbread ROM is like a new phone, ofter 16 hours of use i still had 43% last night. In idle mode it uses about 1% in 2 hours.
I think the battery probles come from Froyo not getting along with the dual core processor.
This phone is awesome!

Iceshark, you're not crazy. This is the same exact battery drain I get not even touching the damn phone! This is my second phone in less than 2 weeks, the first had the same results, both brand new.
Today I unplugged my phone at 12:45 pm, gave my mom a call for mothers day (less than 2 min talk time) Got to work and browsed web for maybe 5 minutes then clocked in at 2 pm. Took a 15 min break at 4pm battery was down to 80% (did some web browsing for 5 min). Took my 30 min lunch at 6pm (battery was down to about 60% (did some browsing for about 15 min). Took my last break at 8pm, and battery was down to 30%. I clocked out at 10:30 and I only had 20% battery left. The only timeI touched the phone was on my breaks, the rest of the time my phone was in my pocket. I had juicedefender running on balanced.
It's now 12:01am and I only have 14% battery left, that's not even 12 hours yet, and I only used the phone and it's features for less than an hour, all the other drain was sitting in my pocket. This is unacceptable. And I'm starting to think all the other people who claim to have great battery life are exaggerating or lying through their teeth.
Although I did a test yesterday using auto airplane mode, which automatically enables airplane mode when the screen shuts off, disabling any data, and then it turns data back on when you unlock the screen this helped very much with battery draining and at the end of an 8 hour work shift I still had 70% battery, but without data you can't receive calls, which sucks.
This battery drainage or bleed while the handset is not even being used needs to be fixed. And isn't it false advertising since the G2x specs indicate standby time is 400 hours?

[Q] Poor battery life

So I just switched from a rooted Evo to a Charge. I rooted it on day one and have had what I consider to be poor battery life. With everything off except mobile data, I'm losing about 5% per hour just idling. My Evo would lose 1% an hour or less when running AOSP roms an little more with sense roms.
I took my phone off the charger around 9 this morning. I've sent 50 texts, maybe a few more. My battery is as 52% right now. Maybe I expected too much, but I didn't get a TB because of the crappy battery life.
Right now I'm running Gummycharged 1.8.1 with the standard kernel that it came with. I don't have 4g here so I have that auto search turned off as well.
Is normal or should I unroot and bring the phone in?

From my day to day use, this sounds about right. You have 4G kn right? Not 3G? If on 4G this sounds totally accurate from my experience.

I get roughly 19 hours on a charge with my thunderbolt..so not sure what you ment there...anyway it looks like you are getting 8-10 hours.. that's normal

I get anywhere from 8-10 hours of heavy use, when I say heavy I mean it, music and browsing the web at the same time, calls and browsing the web at the same time, txting, skype, email.. but keep in mind while I do have the stock battery I kill EVERY task and clear RAM whenever I set my phone down, the biggest killer of battery life is just tasks running in the background, remember this phone has a built in task killer, even when rooted & ROM'd.
Another tip would be to keep a spare battery in your wallet, when I stay over at a friends and don't have my charger or I just need a quick full charge I just pull out my wallet and switch the batteries, it's only like $10-$20 for a spare battery depending on where you get it.

If you want longer battery life, you left on the only one that is key to saving the battery !! If you are just in standby or just using the telephone and textings, turn off mobile data, that is the power sucker. Turn it on as needed. Even if you are in a 3G area, the LTE chip stays powered up and this is a big drain.
My phone will last the weekend using this method.

What actually drains the battery is having your screen on. Look at your battery stats in your settings. That will show you what is killing your battery the most and then you can adjust what is needed

Engadget lies about Charge battery life

I purchased the Droid Charge based on the Engadget review of the device. In particular, I wanted a device that could get on the LTE network AND have great battery life. This excerpt sold me:
When it comes to battery life, there's no competition. The Charge blitzed through a full day of what we'd consider typical use, coming off the charger at about 9am and not getting slotted back in again until 9pm the next night. Yes, you read that right, two working days of what we'd consider average use with GPS and WiFi on, taking pictures and videos, all powered by a single 1,600mAh battery. Granted, we weren't running our performance benchmarks at the time, but we were hammering the LTE antenna to get some speed results.
I expected to get, at a minimum, a full day's charge using LTE on this device, considering I live in an area where LTE isn't hard to come by (Los Angeles). Alas, I was sorely disappointed when my battery drained within 5 hours with minimal use. 5 hours!!! How can Engadget claim it will last for two days and that "there's no competition." It's totally misleading. The Droid Charge has a serious battery issue which nobody can seem to get to the bottom of. I even tried installing the latest Gingerbread rom to ameliorate the issue, but to no avail. Has anyone gotten a full day's use out of the device when on the LTE network?

I just got back from a full day's use on 4G with GPS on, WiFi on and Exchange and Gmail pushing mail as needed. I did not, however, text at all. One of my pages has an IP camera app that updates three feeds (snapshots) at least every five minutes. I am in a pretty consistent 4G area except when I'm at home (Philladelphia suburbs by my home is in a geographically challenged location)!
The phone just turned off as it dropped below 2% so I can't give any battery stats; I've been following the battery recalibration procedure listed here.

Out of curiosity, which ROM are you using to get this kind of battery life? I just installed the latest Gingerbread leak and my phone is leaking battery at a rate of 15-20% per hour. I saw that re-calibration post, but I'm wondering if I can simply charge my phone to 100% and place the same ROM on top of the one I already installed. Just want to make sure I don't brick my phone.
Any thoughts?

If you wondering if you can just replace your current COM with the same one you are using by just replacing the files on the SD card then yes you can. If you're asking about re-flashing the same ROM over it again without wiping during the calibration then you can. It shouldn't harm anything.

I've already installed the latest Gingerbread ROM and updated all my apps and widgets on the device. Can I now charge the device to 100%, bump charge a couple of times (per the instructions in another post on the board), and then restart and wipe the battery stats in recovery mode? Or, do I have to charge to 100% and then completely reinstall the same exact ROM on top of the one I just installed?

5 hours? That's questionable that you only got 5 hours with minimal use. No Engadget did not lie, and until the 1700 mah phones are released the end of the month, there is no comparison.
Only with Altered Beast and heavy use was I able to kill the battery in under 8 hours. So I would chalk it up to a bad battery. Not everything is perfect.
Gingerbread is a leak, so trying to compare it to the stock rom does you no good.

You can wipe the battery cache without having to re-flash everything again.

Agreed, I was heavily influenced by the Engadget review and was seriously disappointed when I struggle to get a day's worth of usage out of the stock ROM on 4G.
The Gingerbread leaks have some serious battery issues. I reccomend flashing Humble v1.3 (Froyo) and undervolting. Best battery life by far. I can hammer the LTE radio for a few hours straight.
As a side note, all of Verizon's current 4G Android offerings have awful battery life due to having the dual CDMA and LTE radios. That being said, the Charge evidently has the best life out of the three of them. Future phones (when Verizon dumps CDMA altogether in favor of LTE) will have way better life.

Curious while running Humble v1.3 and undervolting which kernel are you running atm. And second what undervoltage settings are your using atm currently so yo uare getting random reboots. Reaosn I ask is I just flashed v1.3 this am and updated to Imnut's newest OC kernel but have left it alone right now without touching any voltage settings. So any input would be great and I'd like to set mine nad check it out to see if I can get even better battery life out of it. Thanks

This should help.

I get about 12 hours with minimal to moderate usage throughout the day 4G, wifi/gps off for the majority. I might have to try this bump charging, though. Would be incredible to get a solid day out of this thing.

9 hours of using my phone to check XDA post, playing bubble buster, and texting and my phone is at 77%. Only thing different on my phone is i'm using SetCPU to undervolt. But even with that. if you are only getting 6 hours with minor use. There is something wrong.

I just did a solid 36 hours by staying on my home Wifi almost the whole time. I'm using Gummy Charged 1.8. Before everyone starts calling bull----, I probably used the phone a total of 1 hour over that period of time.
Normally, it lasts 14-18 hours with only Exchange mail and an hour of gaming (no facebook, social networks, etc.)
If I recall correctly, battery life was an issue with the gingerbread leaks.

I did the battery charging cycles as mentioned above and erased the battery stats last night. Now I'm down to 20% after 6 hours of light use. That's pretty much the same way as before. What did I do wrong?

Not a chance I'll say bull**** that is for sure. When leaving the device on Wifi battery life will DRASTICALLY increase. The radio in the device is what is eating it up. If you want to conserve even more battery I've found and don't ask me why if you actually turn off Mobile data and then turn Wifi on it will help even more.
Ran a test last night and with over 7hrs on Wifi it dropped on 5%

I've gotten 24 hours with about 20% to spare going in and out of Wifi and 4G. I had 3 gmail accounts sync'd to the phone and I probably streamed about 20 minutes worth of music using Google Music. But, I probably used the phone for a combined total of 1.5 hours over that period, and it was a slow day, so I actually didn't get many emails.
I think I was using one of the Froyo Gummy ROMs.

I don't think it's very fair to use custom ROMs and then complain about battery life. Was your battery life lower than 5 hours on the stock ROM? Did you even use the stock ROM?

Try reading more than skimming the OP. He implied that he started stock there, and about 3 posts down said that it was ridiculous that even the stock ROM couldn't get 5 hours.

My apologies, I misread his second to last sentence in the OP.
Either way, 5 hours is not normal and I wouldn't blame the Charge just yet. Not sure if you guys have official 2.3 yet (I'm a Thunderbolt owner myself), but I know the Froyo ROMs on the TB have a very noticeable increase in battery life compared to the Gingerbread leak builds.
I get about 6-8 hours of heavy use on my 2.3 ROM on the TB. Probably closer to 13+ with Froyo.

Having waited months for this update, I was just as excited as many to put this update on. Unfortunately, even though it has fixed many issues it created a new one for me: battery life, surprisingly.
The battery life on my phone is now back to what it was at out of the package with all of the bloat and Froyo. All I did on my Froyo was root it, freeze all of the bloatware, and unroot it. The battery would go the entire day and then some with moderate use. The phone became very stable.
Fastforward to yesterday- the phone rebooted, so I had enough and I put Gingerbread on. Everything was fine yesterday, and battery consumption was great with all the radios on. After I woke up this morning from charging (USB), the phone felt hot. Battery Monitor was saying it was at about 101F (normally around 96F). I unplugged, and immediately the consumption was at about 250mA. Throughout the past few hours, it has gone from 150mA to 600mA consumption. I did a factory reset, and it didn't help. Nothing has worked yet to get the power consumption under control today. The primary things running are (not surprisingly) the bloat. Telenav I noticed was constantly noted as "Restarting". Appmarket gets force-killed, and it opens back up a split second later.
It might possibly be the data radio, as JuiceDefender can't even shut it off.
Has anyone found their battery consumption got worse with the GB update, and not better? Short of flashing a bloat-free rom on it, has anyone found a solution?

When an app constantly closes and goes into a endless restart cycle is what kills the battery the most. It also makes the phone hot. I had this happen with the NFL app a few updates ago.

After I updated yesterday my battery did also die fairly fast. I did a hard reset and now it seems the same as froyo. But I was one the lucky folks with almost no problems so I never rooted. From my understanding gingerbread suppost increases battery life mines about the same now

Guys you have to keep in mind that this is not the official release. LG either leaked this build out by accident or on purpose to quiet down the hungry stomach's that wanted a gingerbread build. Lets just cross our fingers and graciously hope that a more fresh and tasty build will be released.
For now just try and enjoy your phone. If you are having random reboots that are a little too often then try completely wiping your phone and then literally wait 10 minutes for the software to settle down, once settled then reboot and enjoy.

That sounds about right. There has to be a broken sensor or something improperly calibrated. It isn't warm anymore, but it is just gulping down the power right now faster than any device I've ever had. I have a feeling it may have thought it was fully charged. It was perfectly fine on the original charge left over from Froyo consuming only about 30-60mA. Overnight charge on Gingerbread? Getting this massive consumption. It was done on USB. Once it dies in the next few minutes, I'll do a full wall charge and hopefully it gets more than a few minutes.

You guys using the bloated version or the EB release with bloat removed?

My battery life has been fairly good so far.

Have you charged it since you ran the update?

I just plugged my phone in about 30 minutes ago and it went from 20% battery to 80% in 30 minutes. That seems very fast for the G2x. I really think the culprit here is it isn't charging properly. I did a factory reset already, and it didn't help.

One thing I have noticed is my Camera is apparently responsible for about 20-30% of the power consumption even though I've forced quit it and rebooted.

I am going on 14 hours now and am at 64%... light use, wifi on half the time, screen on for little over an hour. I have HORRIBLE reception at my house in ohio, the damn thing is usually just trying to hold 1 or 0 bars where i very frequently have dropped calls or text messages that go out slow or come in in packages because it finally found a signal again (aka my phone loves to spend juice looking for a signal)... I would say its pretty good and i used the hell out of it yesterday and killed it in like 6 hours so this is my second charge...

Luckily I'm in the second Category. I was on ultimate Rom and loved it but I just wanted to change it up so I rolled back to froyo. Then did the update, reflashed clockwork and charged it to 100%, booted into clockwork, deleted the battery stats, boot it up, pulled the charger and I'm on 15 hours now and still have about 20% left. I'd say they did something positive. I still need to freeze the bloat however. I'll worry about that later when we get a CM7 or EB build based on this rom that is stable.

After I turned off GPS on the camera and killed it, my battery life skyrocketed. Even though I was killing the camera, it wasn't helping. I had to actually turn off the GPS before exiting. I'm not sure if its coincidence, but I left it unplugged overnight and it used almost no battery.

Just for a bit of proof.. I took these after the update, in the one with the estimate you can see it only expected me to get 5 more hours of battery life based on the history, but it's going to last a lot longer I think.
All I did was wipe battery stats, charge to 100%, wipe again, waited 30 minutes, wiped one more time then unplugged and let it go. that was 17 hours ago.
I'm anal like that, I really did wipe the battery stats three times and let it charge to full again after wiping just to make sure it was maxed out. I'm a noob still so not sure exactly how the battery stats reporting works.
Oh yeah, this includes 1.5 hours of Order and Chaos. Streaming music from Google music for two hours while driving across town, 45 minutes of GPS while locating a business I've wanted to visit and about 5 chapters of I, Robot in google books.
