Boot Animation - Simple Inverted Incredible Loading - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

A lot of people like to have flashy, colorful, crazy boot animations. I like to keep it simple, very simple.
Overwrite the bootanimation.zip or VZW_bootanimation.zip wherever it's located on your ROM (usually /data/local or /system/customize/resource). I prefer to do this with Root Explorer.
I don't know if small-sized boot animations have any impact on start-up speed, but this one's pretty lightweight.
(Update: matching splash screen added in post below)

This looks really good and I have installed it.
Can you make a splash screen that appears just prior to this animation?

Here you go!
Place PB31IMG.zip on the root of your SD card. Reboot to Hboot.
You should be prompted to install your custom splash1.
(I actually made this splash screen a couple months ago, but I since removed the 'TM' from the logo --- original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753938)

I got em both working!
Thanks, again!

I love the simplicity of this. I took a similar approach in uncommon sense. well done.

Before I try this, I just want to make sure that my phone can take it. Im running CMod and I just want to replace the splash screen that first pops up when it turns on, not the boot animation. If I install the Pbimg.zip file will that just replace my splash screen? also before I do this, can a nandroid backup restore my splash screen If I want to revert back to the origional? Thanks. I really like this splash screen and it looks totally awesome. Please PM me for your Answers!

The splash screen wont replace your boot animation. And nandroid doesnt save splash screens.

For some reason every time I try to install the PB31Img.zip it doesent install in HBoot. I have no idea what could be the problem. i also tried to install it from CWmod and that didnt work Either? Any ideas as to what might be the cause? I really like this splash screen but for some reason it just wont flash in hboot. I have S-Off but for some reason it still doesent work.

I'm not sure what the issue might be. Make sure you are in the Bootloader screen that says "HBOOT", not "FASTBOOT". When you load HBOOT, it should prompt you after a few seconds to install the update. (ClockworkMod/Recovery shouldn't be used at all for updating splash screens)
I just double checked the attachment posted here. Works fine. Make sure you place it on the root of your SD card.

Thanks for the boot animation. It's lightweight and speedy, just what I needed.

Is your SD Card formatted to FAT32? That's where I slipped up, once I did that I could mod my splash to my heart's content
EDIT: Agh, sorry, didn't see page 2 of this thread and thus remy2501's already suggested this. What else could be wrong.. is it on the root of your SD Card? Is the volume up rocker the first button you press when going in to hboot?

Remember to be very specific as to the name, the only thing you should be installing in the root must be named: PB31IMG
Not PB31IMG.zip or PB31img and so on.....if that doesn't work there might be a problem with that particular splash screen. Once you get it installed, remember to remove that zip file from the root otherwise next time you go into HBoot it will ask you to reinstall......Good luck !

Oddly enough, I lost 3G after installing this. After rolling back to a previous backup, 3G is back.
I installed it around 3pm yesterday and somehow was oblivious to not having 3G. My phone had even restarted a few times after that, yet no 3G. All day I have been wondering why my 3G hasn't been working, never tied it back to this load screen. I rolled back to a previous backup and 3G came on instantly and a full day's worth of emails and gtalk messages streamed in.
Curious to know if anyone else encountered the same?
I'm running Miui btw.

wow nice combo looks smoothe and simple and just what i was looking for.

i had this problem too but not with the boot animation. i had to install king kernel to get 3g working on virtuious rom in order to fix it.

any chance of making a shutdown.zip?

causing 3g to not work.
Not sure if it was the splash or boot animation, but 3g would not work after installing these on Virtuous 3.01 with the Adrynalyne Custom Kernel v2.

Flashed this and have no problems with 3g on virtuous. Thanks for it!

AND RELOAD BOOTLOADER AND IT SHOULD UNBRICK BUT ITS GOING TO SWITCH YOUR "PRI VERSION" BUT IT WORKS
ALL I ASK FOR IS A SIMPLE THANKS

well yea the red triangle
I haven't downloaded what you cooked up there, but if included radios or the wimax partition, you really need to warn people that they could lose 4G.
If you "brick" your phone, you should only use the RUU from Sprint to fix it. If the phone isn't recognized by the RUU, then extract the PC36IMG.zip from it and use the fastboot command line to flash.

That's not a brick. A brick is when your device will not do anything. Won't power on, won't even light up when you plug it in. There's nothing you can do with a true brick, that's why it's named that way.
If you can get into bootloader, you can recover your device.

Not true. Here is a scenario for you...actually happened to my evo:
Your entire os gets erased, except bootloader. Your screen won't even come on, but the charge light comes on, and the computer sees the device. Fun part is, it does not even see it as android...it pops up as qualcomm. Ruu doesn't work. Pc36Img doesn't work. Trying to flash through fastboot doesn't work. Why? Because there are so many bad blocks in the memory that nothing will write (htc doesn't allow their handsets to skip bad blocks). So, you were mostly right, but there are exceptions to everything.

Nope, your wrong. Back when I used to mod PSPs, if you flashed a firmware incorrectly, you'd either get a semi-brick or a brick. A semi-brick is when you can't get into the OS, but you can access some sort of recovery menu/method. A brick is when it won't turn on at all or it will turn on but won't do anything (or freeze at splash screen).

Who said it was working?
I very clearly said that it wouldn't work, no matter what method was used. Please reread my original post. I don't think you understood what I said. Though you could get the phone into bootloader, the screen was not on. The only reason you would even know the phone was on was if you had it hooked up to your comp when you powered up. There was no method you could use that would allow anything to be written to the internal memory. There was a hardware problem with some of the evos, where in they have a TON off bad blocks. This prevented the os from being rewritten. I have meet a few other guys on xda who have the problem with bad blocks. So, how would you define this, if not as a brick? It wasn't hung up somewhere. It was totally unusable. After spending 2 hours on IRC, we decided it was totally unfixable. Took it to a sprint repair center the next day and, funny enough, they agreed. They couldn't even access it enough to tell that I had an unlocked bootloader. Yes, they replaced it.

The whole thing is pretty silly, anyway. My only point was you could be bricked and still have your charge light comer on. No hard feelings here.

Bootup Problem
So I have an evo that when powered up only displays the startup white HTC EVO 4G screen for 5 sec....turns off for 3 or 4 sec then back on and same in a continuous loop. I can access regular android recovery with the white screen and androids on the bottom. When I choose recovery from the options on that page it does nothing but the white HTC EVO 4G screen boot looping over and over.
Things I have tried:
New SD Card
PC36IMG - tons of them from many methods
Flash a new recovery
The computer does recognize the phone but I can't find it anywhere?
Any help ?
PM me please.

I know we're going to get at least one person who says their phone is bricked. Here's how to unbrick it (links to stock rom/kernel, etc) for Virgin and Sprint versions:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1691827-Intercept-free-stock-ROMs-and-apps!
You'll need to know how to install and patch SWUpdate for the Moment so it works for the Intercept. Not hard at all.
Did I miss something? How did we go from the EVO to the Moment/Intercept? Anyhow I'm having the same problem as whoisjlk in post #14. Please if anyone has a solution I would greatly appreciate it and even donate. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...thanks in advance.
Wow I guess I posted in the wrong section LOL.
Ok, I have an Evo that I would like to recover from the dark side.
I rooted my HTC EVO 4g using Unrevoked, it worked fine, then I decided to flash a new rom, followed all the steps and I backed up my stock and wipe data/factory reset and Davik, now my phone doesn't read the sd card.
Took the sd card out and did a FAT32 format (4 times already), downloaded the new zip to it and still not reading.'
Bought a couple different SD cards.
Can't do a restore because the sd card and is not recognized.
As soon as I check install zip from card it reads
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1)
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /sdcard
Now I know Amon RA Recovery is way better.
I had S-OFF, after wipe all data have S-ON and don't know why.
This is what I tried:
All kinds of PC36IMG (Recoveries, ROMS, Unrevoked S on and S off)
ADB doesn't work.
Phone is not found, when try to update drivers using Windows 7 it says that Qualcomm-CDMA-Technologies-MSM driver is not found, but my other EVO and the ones that I rooted have no problems.
Phone boots into HBOOT and Recovery.
After opening HBOOT PC36IMG gets recognized but not updated.
In recovery when try to flash from SD has the message E: Can't blah blah
If I try to reboot the phone, it just goes to a black screen with a flashing LED or gets stock on white screen forever.
Any ideas?
I would like to fix it, already have a working phone, and I don't need this one, is just to put all the help together and maybe some one that has a similar problem can avoid all the troubles and follow a single post and not spend hours searching just to find the wrong answers.
Otherwise is going to be just for spare parts and that doesn't help many.
Thanks in advance.
If you have an idea, lets try it, PM or reply here.

CWM blackscreen? Look here before posting!

So you are looking at this because you have recently rooted your phone. You are probably trying to flash your first rom and either, you booted into recovery and it was a black screen, or your tried flashing a rom from rom manager and it goes to a black screen.
Now most dev's have a faq posted to eliminate new posts popping up every day, but here I will attempt to tell you how to fix this.
FIRST MAKE A BACKUP the screen will go black when it is backing up, but wait 10-15 minutes and your phone will reboot.
Currently there are three options. There are other options, but these are more user friendly.
Option 1
1. Place This(thanks to nsnc) file on the root of your sd card, boot into hboot by turning off fast boot, restart, hold power+vol down.
Click to collapse
Option 2 (longer then option 3):
1. You can return your phone completely to stock removing root and s-off. You can find a very helpful link to do that here.
2. Once your phone has been completely returned to stock, download the Hack Kit(thanks to attn1). Make sure you follow the instructions completely, and to a tee.
Click to collapse
Option 3:
1. You are going to need to eng s-off the phone using the one click eng s-off Here(thanks to jkoljo).
2. Once you eng s-off and have a working cwm it is highly recommended you turn eng s-off, on. So that you only have radio s-off. You can do that by using this PD98IMG. Download and place on the root of your sd card. You will need to boot into hboot using power+volume down. When it asks you to update select yes with the volume buttons. (note this is just like flashing a new rom so it will do a full wipe)
Once you have radio s-off you may have to flash an older CWM recovery, but you can now restore your backup if you wish to.

Currently these are the known ways to fix this problem. If more ways should arise they will be added to this post.
Please be sure to READ the dev's FAQ section as well.
*NOTE*
I am not responsible for anything that may happen to your phone this post is solely to help those in need in the easiest way possible.
Hope this helps.
What about this one?

I considered using that, but I wanted to make the process more user friendly.
did you see the update at the bottom of the first post? I put that PD98IMG.zip on the root of my sd and then went to hboot and let it find the file. Worked great.

The only thing I ask is that you post the post where you found it/ and or the person who made it.
Am I to understand all we have to do is put this PD98img.zip file on the SD Card (after renaming it) and it will clear up the CWM problem we are having without doing Eng-S-off? This seems pretty easy, but I am curious about what ROM it is when we reflash, is it the Stock AT&T?

This is not a ROM file, just a repaired bootloader that installs using hboot. AFAIK, it leaves whatever ROM you are using intact. In fact, on my phone, it didn't change a thing, other than clockwork now works...
See my post above. NSNC posted this fix a while back. The PD98IMG is in the update of the OP

Sure: My phone has been rooted, I entered CWM, downloaded Cyanogenmod and attempted to flash it. I followed the prompts, backed everything up, and when installation (I guess you call it that?) began it went to a black screen.
It is still in that screen, I just tried holding down the power but nothing occurred.

It might of failed to flash, I would pull the battery, place the PD98IMG from the first post from option number one place it on your sd card (not in a file and do not unpack) boot into hboot using power and volume down, It will flash the file from hboot, once it has flashed remove the PD98IMG from your sd card, boot into hboot again go to recovery from hboot. See if that works.

[Q] Bricked Inspire?!

SO yeah I decided to flash Miui lastnight and this happened clockworkmod wont load up for me to reflash or whipe, when I try to boot into clockwork htc logo comes up then slowly dies to black, though I can access hboot so what should i do?

it's not bricked.... power off the phone then press and hold the power key and the vol down key at the same time til you see the HBOOT screen. vol down until RECOVERY is highlited then press power. That will bring you into Recovery mode. now wipe data/factory reset... then wipe cache partition.. then go to advanced and wipe Dalvik Cache... go back to mounts and storage and format system...
after all that then go back to install zipfrom sdcard and reinstall miui that should do it
Im not going anywhere so I'll be here, let me know how you do
Ouch. That sucks. Don't worry though, there is hope.
What you will have to do is remove your SD card and download a stock RUU and it will flash in Bootloader. Unfortunately I believe it will unroot you. I am not positive on that though. I will post a link so you can be reading a little more about it, we helped a guy thru this the.other day, but he wasn't rooted. Should be the same process though. You'll want to wait until we know exactly what to do because this is your one shot before you got a fancy paperweight. I have to run to atnt for a minute. Start reading so you'll know a little more of what is going to go on, and hang tight. Someone else may step in before I'm back, but you can start familiarizing yourself with the process shortly.
This fellow was pricked during an OTA update. About the same steps will be taken...

Yeah, thats not the case here, i've done that multiple times and it remains the same.
search around on here for a stock rooted rom in PD98IMG.zip form There may be one inside the hack kit but cant remember. put it on your sdcard boot into bootloader by holding volume down and pressing power. let it search for the update. hit volume up to confirm update after it finds it. If you can access hboot your not bricked take a deep breath and relax

I have, should I just match the radio and flash it. If the file is corrupt it could for sure brick me. My question is how do you flash a rom from hboot? Cause I have the stock RUU from HTC Dev but I don't know how to go about doing that.

search around on here for a stock rooted rom in PD98IMG.zip form There may be one inside the hack kit but cant remember. put it on your sdcard boot into bootloader by holding volume down and pressing power. let it search for the update. hit volume up to confirm update after it finds it. If you can access hboot your not bricked take a deep breath and relax

you have a micro sd card reader on your computer ?
Here's a link to gb stock rooted. Look at post 4. Credit goes to gene for the file.
To flash you will need a way to transfer files to your SD card.
Download the file and rename to PD98IMG.zip. boot into hboot it will scan and ask you to apply the update.
If you can't transfer files try the ruu exe. Version you downloaded.

Yeah I have a micro to regular SD, I'll give this a shot right now.
well looks like you guys got him heading in the right direction. but at any rate op feel free to pm me if further assistance is needed. good luck

WIll do, thanks.
Got the dowload off gene, it's loading the zip in hboot now. I'll let you know how it goes.
Success! Thanks for your help everyone it is much appreciated.

Do a search in the themes forum. The splash screen you want is in there somewhere, plus a few hundred other ones.

There are actually 3 things which has a default white back, and could (should?) be black..
The first is the splash (static) screen, which is actually on a different partition than the system/data etc.
The 2nd is boot-animation which appears after the splash when the phone is booted
The 3rd is down-animation, appearing when the phone goes to a reboot/shutdown.
Please find the 3 attached files for each - keep in mind that the splash is a flashable zip which needs to be flashed via 4Ext,
The bootanimation and downanimation zips should replace existing files on your rom - different roms have these in different locations, but AFAIK always somewhere in /system - root is needed.
Nandroid is your friend - always create a backup first!
Thanks for the splash. I'm happy the white one is gone. Do you know where there is any more? I like this one a lot though. I just wanted to see what else there is.

Hey, this is really great. However I'm a bit of a noob and just flashed a new ROM and now looking to flash this splash screen. I flashed the zip file, but unaware what to do with the other 2 zip files. I found a 'bootanimation' file within \system\bin but no downanimation file. Also I know these zip files contain many images not just a single file type. I'd really appreciate if you could advise on this. Is this splashscreen also silent? As after the flash I have no noise, but still the annoying white display

Ok so I got the splash screen working. It had to be stored in system/customize/resource. I still however have no sound on start up. Also, initially turning on the phone still gives me the white with green HTC without quietly briliant before then giving the black boot splash screen... Confusing :S

in order to change the splash screen you have to be on S-OFF.are you on S-OFF?
also when you put the new bootanimation.zip in system/customize/resource did you change the permissions?

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm not S-OFF but I use 4EXT with SmartFlash enabled to overcome this. I was able now to get the black splash screen working, however prior to this bootanimation I still have a white background with green HTC. I think it's like a BIOS screen maybe? How can I get this changed also?

ok, I've not tried this yet as I feel you misunderstand my issue... I have my new black HTC splash screen. But before that comes up I have another image, the original white one. I think this might be called the 'boot splash'. I have a found a page which does the change for the HTC One S, I think I need something similar for the HTC Sensation. AS the very first line of this page highlights that boot splash and boot animation are two seperate things:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777223
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Ok, I'm being a complete donut! The flashable splash screen zip is what replaces that static screen right 'boot splash' as I referred? Even if I didn't flash this and just replaced the bootanimation and the downanimation, I'd get what I have now?! But why can I not do this with SmartFlash Enabled on 4EXT, as I thought this acted as a temporary S-OFF? It's just when I flashed the zip, it said it was successful and also I now have no boot sound when starting the device, do you know why that is?

the original white one you are saying is the splach screen
the second one(new black HTC)is the bootanimation
the bootanimation you can change it also even without flashing anything at all
about smartflash i think you misunderstood its ability.it is usefull only for flashing different kernels and roms on S-ON devices.for nothing else
take a look at this guide too for flashing a different splash screen

Cool man thanks. Ok so I just looked into doing S-OFF, and I see I'd have to install Ubuntu onto a virtual machine and it also mentioned that you should ONLY perform S-OFF with a stock ROM, is this true? As I have upgraded to Inspiration 1.0.1 ICS with Sense 5 MOD and this seems now then to be quite a bit of hassle.

you can use this guide either for S-OFF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617
just request for the windows version tool
or request it also from ganeshp's guide
and yes install the stock rom
just backup inspiration rom through recovery
and after S-OFF restore it
note:backup everything from your sdcard to pc because during the wire trick it will erase everything in the sdcard
could someone explain why my boot sound has gone? the flash didnt work because i am s-on, but i lost my boot animation start up sound!
EDIT: Sorted it, for some reason in the folder system/customize/CID the file default.xml had:
<BootAnimation animation="/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip"/>
when it should have been:
<BootAnimation audio="/system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3" animation="/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip"/>

I stumbled across people wanting to do it for the HTC Desire HD, also there is much stuff on people wanting to remove the 'annoying sound' as they referred to it as. I had this sound file missing, so I added it to the /system/customize/resource location, but still didn't work. That's when I found the default.xml file to have that line missing within /system/customize/CID. Added it and whala, now have the start up sound again

[Bootanimaion]Mahdi ROM bootanimation to replace stock

Hey XDA
I just spent a good few minutes making my first ever boot animation and wanted to share it with you guys !
I've been using Mahdi ROM since day one on my G2, and have decided that as much as I like the stock google boot animation, I would much rather see an animation representing the custom ROM that I am using (apart from this very minor thing I think this ROM is perfect, I've pushed a score of 33000 on antutu and can get 40 hrs battery life with regular usage!)... It's probably just an OCD thing, but I think a custom ROM feels more unique with its own boot animation.
Like I said; This is my first ever boot animation made from scratch so it is very basic, but that was one of my prerequisites, and I like it, so I hope you do too!
To install, in case you're newer than me to this, you simply copy the file from your download folder to /system/media and rename he old boot animation to .bak or anything you like.
Download below, Thanks guys!
EDIT; THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH LG STOCK BASED ROMS

Kind of awesome man! I'm using it now
About to try it out now
Sent from my g2 using Tapatalk
Awesome thanks guys
Nicer than the google boot animation. See if he will implement this into his rom.
The only problem I have with this is that there are not enough frames, it looks very choppy. The sliding white bar is okay, could do with a few more frames to make it super smooth. Apart from that it looks so sexyy
Thnks fot the feedback! Its not a lack of frames, its kust very rushed so some frames move the bar slightly more than other frames.
If i find some spare time Ill see if i can fix it up a little!
Thank you sir.
sent from the god phone D-800
There is a video of the animation for me to see it?

You'll need to get into TWRP and use the file manager to replace your original boot animation or restore a system backup at this point. I suggest using Bootbox from the play store to install new boot animations in the future.

I followed the instructions to download. Re-named by original bootanimation.zip and placed this one in the system/media folder.

Don't ever modify important system files without a custom recovery - this is a lesson to learn. The easiest thing for you to do now is run your stock recovery and factory reset your phone. If you decide to root again, install FreeGee and flash TWRP. Then run backups. (by the way, NEVER wipe your internal storage) If you decide to change your boot animation, use Bootbox from the playstore - it will do it for you and in most cases will not cause a bootloop. Good luck :good:

Yep tried the hard reset on the phone and the bad bootanimnation is still there and hanging. Will have to revert completely to stock when I get home to connect to my laptop. That seems like that should work. I hope

Can you access adb or fastboot? If you can access fastboot you could use:
fastboot flash recovery [recovery name here]
To flash twrp recovery and use the integrated file manager
Also, this will not work with stock (non AOSP) ROMs because LG uses a different boot animation system. Will update the OP to warn future people
