[Q] Captivate mass storage issue - General Questions and Answers

the mass storage setting worked fine for me for a while but when I rooted my phone the only way to get it to keep working was to turn on usb debugging also and have all kinds of extra drivers installed on my pc... well that is a problem for me so I unrooted hoping it would go back but it still has to be on debugging and only works on my main computer that has all the drivers. I know this worked fine on any pc before I rooted with mass storage enabled and usb debugging turned off.
any help would be GREATLY appreciated

USB Device Not Recognized

Have recently bought a GT-P6200 running DXLC1 rooted firmware and am having issues with my Win 7 and XP laptops not recognizing the device.
I've installed the latest Kies software, the pc recognizes the device when USB Debugging is enabled but doesn't show up in 'My computer' (neither the internal memory or my SD card) and with the Debugging disabled it gives the warning 'USB device not recognized'
Any ideas guys or way around transfering items back and forth my device
EDIT: problem solved, i had disabled the MTP app via Titanium Backup

[Q] USB Tethering vs USB Storage...

I've been trying to get USB tethering working on my HTC One S. I have CM10.1 installed and it's the only thing I've had any issues with. I got it to work by changing the USB Mass Storage Driver in the Device Manager in Windows 7 to the RNDIS driver...but this causes storage on the phone to be disabled until I uninstall the RNDIS driver and get the USB Mass Storage Driver back. I'd like to have them both working without having to go through the Device Manager.
Has anyone else had an issue like this, and if so how did you get around it?

[Q] USB Debugging URGENT help need Please

Hi guys, I am trying to recover deleted sms's and photos on my Samsung S2, using Tenorshare Android Data Recovery software on my laptop. The problem is that you have to connect to your pc via usb cable through the USB storage in settings with USB Debugging switched on. This I find is impossible, when you connect to your pc via the usb storage and then tick the box to turn on debugging, it tells you, you have to remove the usb cable, and of course, then you loose your usb storage connection. And if you try to connect doing the reverse you are also called to remove the cable. So you can only connect to the pc with the usb debugging switched on when your are connected in MTP mode. some urgent help please

Thanks for your reply, if you tick usb debugging and then go and click on usb storage to connect to pc it tells you to remove cable, when you do this to connect the usb storage it un ticks the debugging mode.

You are saying "go and click on USB storage". I didn't get where you are trying to click.
Wherever it is, that's not needed. When you are at MTP, go and tick USB debugging and then plug in USB.Thats it.
You don't need to do anything else, your device is already connected to pc with USB debugging on....

n8020 mass storage

I have a problem with a n8020 with root Android 4.1.2, usb debugging enabled, Kies installed on WinXP with its Samsung drivers.
Problem: I enable the device as a mass storage device, but the PC does not see the tablet's internal memory, in practice the pc only sees the microSD as a unit-cd. How do i resolve?

[Q] usb problem?

Hi,
When I connect my phone in usb mode I see my SD card on my computer but not the phone's internal storage (latest HiSuite is installed). The MTP mode does not show all my folders and files that's why I really need to see the phone in mass storage mode.
Also, whenever I connect my phone to the computer, USB debugging mode turns on even though I disable dev mode. I tried factory reset twice and install/uninstall HiSuite but it still does not work.
That would be awesome to have some help.
Thanks
Can you guys at least let me know if you are able to connect your phone's internal memory in mass storage mode?

MTP mode should display all folders/files in internal memory. However, same as you, sometimes, the computer does not show all. What i do is just disconnect, then reconnect. Oftentimes, it solves the problem. If not, then i both restart the computer and the phone, then it will be ok.
