MLB.COM working with Hulu fix... - EVO 4G Android Development

I just installed the Flash fix found here for Hulu
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802133
And it also works for mlb.com. You have to have an account and subscribe to the service but at least you don't have to fork over another $14.99 for the app which dosen't even stream games.
I am using the stock internet browser on an htc evo with froyo and the latest fresh rom but it should work with any rom if you follow the steps in the above link and uninstall flash and install the fixed flash and reboot..
Since the games on TBS are blacked out it will only work on archived games. But next season it should work fine for all games.
Let me know if this works for you also..

False, the app streams games.
I have it.

I have been watching games since we got flash and I never used the hulu fix or the hex edit.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk

Sorry... I thought the iphone app streams but android dosen't.. Might be thinking of Netflix.. Well at least if thyis works you can stream right from the browser next year and save some $$$

I always got an error message when trying to watch games. This is the first time I was able to.

When we get Froyo and flash, should we be able to play facebook flash games?

My bro wants to buy the captivate but wants to know if he will be able to play those silly games
when you say.. silly games.. do you mean farmville :"> ..
and there are no specified dates.. just guestimates and rumors.
September is all hopes.
Flash I'm not sure, I heard it's out in the app store but I don't have a captivate to know if it works ;o
yeah all those games they like to play...I am more like Stan in South park! lol
I assume flash is flash and it should work.

At the very least, you would have to use a web browser that is capable of switching the user agent to a desktop browser's so that facebook will properly serve up the desktop version of the site. Not sure on the rest though. Dolphin HD is a great browser that will let you switch user agents.

I can't find Flash on the app store as of yet.. I thought it was out though because I have seen some people with it listed in their appbrain lists
yes you will! they have a video of froyo on utube and the guy is playing Farmville! YAY
Yes it will work because it works on my iPad (yes my iPad has Flash 10.1 ported from android). The only thing is that if it requires keyboard input then you will need to use a bluetooth keyboard
Yes he can play his facebook flash games.
Flash for android works as well as flash on a desktop.
Theres a couple videos on youtube showing off flash on android and it works really well.
No. Farmville does not work. My n1 will not play it... atleast last time I tried ... I saw the YouTube video where he plays itbtoo, but it says content not supported ....
That was last month, may work now but I doubt it...

[Q] I'm new to GTab: Any TV show websites that work on Stock build?

Aside from YouTube clips I've been trying to find sites where I can watch old TV shows since Hulu and Netflix don't work. I'm not very adventurous so I have the stock build though I did use the Market Update procedure I learned here to get Market now running (thanks to all of you dedicated guys who teach us about these great features And at this point I've spent hours customizing the apps and desktop to just the way I want them so I'm even less inclined to flash the GTab.
Am interested in learning of any sites or apps that you run to watch shows or movies on the stock build. I really hope Netflix comes out with Android support real soon.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks much.
NBC.com works
I have found that NBC.com works using the stock browser and the flash beta linked on viewsonics gtablet site. Does not work with Dolphin HD or Opera for some reason. I have noticed that flash in general always seems to work best in the stock browser. Though the NBC video is kind of jerky the audio is good....could just be my connection...it is watchable though!

Could you please tell the class what rom you are using, and if there was a hack you needed to preform to make fancast work?
If you did apply a hack do you have a link to its instructions.

Netflix on G-tab!!

Hi Folks,
Latest version of PLAYON supports andriod (didnt see it in the release notes, however, it seems to work).. I was able to get netflix working thru Playon, works great on the dolphin browser.
Where did you get the app? Didn't find it on Market.....

Try playstation's website. I just got an email from them a few weeks ago about the availability for android.
Sounds like it is not as much an app as it is a portal. An app is best, since then much better cache storage and smooth playback. Straight feed video quality tends to suck butt. This is why playing Netflix using Xbox, Window media and PS3 is far better results than staight from Netflix own site.

Of course it would be better, but for the time being, this is a great find until Netflix finally decides how to tackle their DRM bull and gets to work on something more official. I'll take something over nothing.
I haven't tried it yet, but this could make that $8 a month even more awesome.. lol
Hi,
Can anyone explain how to do this? I have a Netflix account, but not a Playon account...
Thanks,
Jim
Netflix on g-tab
Playon (http://www.playon.tv/playon) is a mediaserver that sits on your windows PC. Playon allows sites like HULU, Netflix... and media on your PC to be streamed to devices like a PS, xbox, wii etc.
You will need to load the Playon program on your PC and then enter netfilx info in there. As long as you are on the same network, you should be able to access the mediaserver thru your tablet. (Playon has a free trial.. I believe)

I don't know if there is an android app for Playon, but uPnPlay works for menus at least.
Won't play movies for me with VEGAn 5.1 using Rockplayer, Vegan native player, ES File Explorer's player, Vital Player or Vplayer.
If you want to try, download the Playon 14 day free trial
http://www.playon.tv/download
and install on a PC in the same network as your Gtab.
Follow the instructions to clear a firewall port and start the server running.
Go to the Market and install "uPnPlay" on your Gtab.
If everything is set up OK, launching uPnPlay will show the Playon server automatically.
Select the server, select Netflix from the list, enter your username and password, and you should be good to go, for the menus that is.
As stated, for me, no video, just a black screen.
BTW, Playon will set you back $39 for for the first year, $19 per year after that, unless you go for the lifetime $79 offer.
When Netflix comes out with an app (they're working on one), then Playon won't be needed.
I'm guessing all this may be dependent on Honeycomb's support of HTTP live streaming.
We should know more in a couple days (Feb. 2) at the press event.

omkar62,
What ROM are you running on your Gtab, and how did you get dolphin browser to access the mediaserver?
I can confirm. Stock ROM, 3389, standard tweaks (flash, gmail, etc), latest playon (unknown version), latest dolphin browser (just downloaded it). Went to mobile playon site (m.playon.tv), and it worked like a champ.

Everything seems to work with Dolphin browser. Buffers, but after "setting up your movie player", it falls back to the beginning before the buffering.
Anyway, thanks for all the help.
I suspect VEGAN 5.1 might be the culprit, so I'll try another ROM.
* EDIT * Don't know why, but it started working with no changes. It ran long enough to get an idea of the video quality.
I was hoping for a big improvement over slingbox. It's better, but not by much.
It died halfway through a movie, so I'm just going to live with slingbox for now.
Hopefully, when Slingplayer HD comes to android (like it has for iPad) things will improve.
Just tried it and this works great on my gtab running vegan 5.1. Just set it up on my local network and it was breeze. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks
can confirm it works for cm7 beta too
also Hulu is working too
Thanks for the update. Works great with vegan 5.1.
Make sure to set dolphin user agent back to android. On desktop setting it just stays at a black screen.
Since I bought playon back when it first came out this makes it valuable again. Plus I think Netflix app will be on hold until honeycomb... ---->
Feeling kinda dumb about now, but how do you start the video up? I can browse my queue and I'm able to see the details of movies but I can't get them to play.

Never mind, it helps to have the latest version installed. I thought play on updated automaticaly but I guess not.
Nice, anyone know how to make it work on a PC?
Works with my Vegan 5.1 as well.
Seems the Mobile playon.tv doesn't work form any PC on the network. Anyone know how to trick them into acting like an android browser?
Thinking of getting Playon to overcome some of the downsides of the Roku version for Hulu Plus....
I use Slingplayer to access my TiVo on the tablet and play Netflix from there. Works great
cant wait for netflix
They need to hurry up with Netflix. There seem to be some pretty good workarounds but jeez I would just prefer to go straight to netflix! I hope it comes out soon!
confirm netflix/hulu etc on vegan 5.1
manually set my router (which is UPNP enabled) to pass the port through the the Playon PC.
Black screen for a moment, then buffers and plays perfect!

adobe flash player not working on KitKat!!? or does it?

OK so I download every adobe flash version all the way to ices and still no luck. My 4.3 version worked on my old phone but with my nexus 5 no luck I even switch in between browsers fire fox boat dolphin u name it! Still flash will not work have anybody else tried this? Or experienced this ?
Flash hasn't been supported on android since ics. You might be able be able to manually install it.
Nope sideloading it doesn't work either. Looks like this is the end of flash

using kitkat? ive tried every browser with .81 and it either crashes or doesn't detect flash. please share more about how you got it to work, thanks
I thought it was just because I was using ART but I guess we'll have to wait for a new version that works with 4.4
Using Boat Browser w. Adobe Flash Player (sideloaded) on Nexu 7 running 4.3.1 on-demand and it is great, no crashes or whatsoever.
Not with N5, however and Boat Browser is what I count on to watch streaming video over fiber @ home.
Probably need updating from the browser folks to make them get along with each other.
No go on my N5 with Firefox and Flash ver .81, tried playing videos from several sites and it didn't work

Okay, I know I am not crazy. Yesterday I swear I quickly watched a clip of a Prime video on Amazon on the N5 via Firefox Beta with the .81 flash apk. However, now now the Firefox Beta crashes as soon as it opens. I thought I'd try regular FF, which does open, but it says flash is not installed. The only devices I have in front of me are the N5 & the N7 & I am pretty certain I didn't confuse my forums/device yesterday, but I'll be damned if it doesn't work now, at least in the stable FF app. Of course, I guess it is possible, between a new device & the hospital & big UT Austin project we are working on. Damn it, maybe it's not such a good thing to order a new device while designing mechanical systems for critical applications.

thanks for the reply. like someone said earlier today, hopefully the browser devs figure it out soon. I used to use boat browser or dolphin basically every day to stream sports through websites like vipbox or firstrowsports. I found out that photon browser works but its a pain to deal with and not the smoothest since it u watch flash through a browser on their server. having smooth flash on boat browser or dolphin was one of the biggest reasons i switched from the iphone to android devices!
Flash on Firefox isn't working for me either.
I didn't install Flash Player but Flash animations seem to work with Puffin Browser.
Flash on Nexus 5
I've tried multiple versions of Flash and multiple browsers (including Firefox, Firefox Beta [which force closed], Boat, Dolphin, Chrome and Opera). None of them work on my Nexus 5 at the current time.
While Puffin works that doesn't really count because it's using a hosted version of Flash running through a proxy. Apart from anything else that meant I couldn't use it to access BBC iPlayer (which I have the app for, but was using as a prominent Flash site to test whether it was working).
I would much rather locally execute Flash, personally, so I'm not sure Puffin really counts as a solution.
Boat Browser released an update that's KitKat or 4.4 friendly, auto updated on mine and it also fixed the FC issue. My favorite streaming website is accessible again but I still have some issues playing in full screen mode.
Haven't got around to root it yet to restore mobile Adobe Flash's latest *.apk
I'm not having any luck with my nexus 5 either. If anyone finds a fix for adobe flash, please post. Trying to get flash working was one of the first things I tried on this phone and am jonesing to get it working.

ff beta, flash .37, kk temasek for i9300. running fine, but far from 4.2 on stock browser.
Sideloaded player 115.81 (newest version):
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
Flash still does NOT work with Firefox or Firefox beta, kitkat on Nexus 7.
I need firefox because of their FVD addon.
This thread also confirms that no one can get flash player to work on Nexus 5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511573
flash was working fine in Firefox, Photon, and Maxthon on nexus 4 and 4.3.
doesn't work on any of them today after updating to 4.4
hoping browser developers will be able to figure it out since they were able to before.
puffin works great for most but not all sites.
and It's also the only one that allows you to stream a tv channel in one tab while browsing in another.
on all the others the stream stops unless the tab it's in is on top.
photon also has server based flash but you got to pay an annual subscription with them for that.
(correction: free with ads. subscription to get rid of ads. and some sites that don't work on puffin
work on photon. It also works with the streaming tab in the background)
why would you want a streaming window in the background? so you can listen to
various news streams playing in the background tab, or youtube, while browsing in the foreground tab.
android is useless to me without flash in one way or another.
No idea why if it can be included in chrome os it can't be included in chrome on android since
newer android phones are running more powerful processors than most chromebooks.
