[Q] HTC Sync on my Hero doesnt work after FusionROM2.2 - General Questions and Answers

Hi All,
After studying information from all of you experts on the NET and carefully understanding the process, I finally managed to Root my HTC Hero and upgrade from 1.5 to the FusionROM 2.2!!
Feels great to see the superb performance of my handset. However, I found that my device doesn't sync up with my Windows XP + Microsoft Outlook. Tried downloading various versions of HTC Sync (2.0.4, 2.0.8 and also 3.0.5422). HTC Sync doesn't detect my phone.
The FusionROM 2.2 doesn't have a PC sync option in the 'Accounts & Sync settings'.
Any help to get around this problem will be much appreciated.
As I mentioned, I am not an expert in this work, so, will appreciate a step-by-step support please...

Getting ActiveSync 4.x Working with WM5

Hiya,
Since there is so much floating around on this subject here, I'm wondering if a mod or whomever might be able to get it all in one place for folks like me (formerly) who were about to cry because they couldn't sync?
As my little contribution, allow me to tell you my fix... I had no firewall issue, my drivers were all up to date, everything *should* have been synching correctly, but for one thing...
I needed to enable the DHCP Client service on my computer. Without this being on, the PC can't grab the network ID the device so desperatly wants to provide. Once I got this started, everything syncs like a breeze.
Hopefully this might help somebody out there who's about to pull their hair out. Good luck y'all, and add my name to the list of folks that thinks this site is just the coolest thing. Kickass!

USB HDD Application for WM6

Hi guys,
Just got my shiney new O2 Stellar today (HTC Kaiser) and have been pretty disappointed with the amount of applications stripped from the WM6 build I had for my Universal (by JWrightmcps - what a champion ROM builder!). However, I've managed to find a few of the applications missing such as the Task Manager & HTC Home screen and have installed them without issue. One application I can't find though which was really useful is the USB HDD application which turned the device into a mass storage device generically recognisable and useable without installing ActiveSync or any additional drivers (on Win2K machines or above). Does anyone know where I can get a CAB or EXE of this application from as it's really useful.
Thanks in advance
Hey man,
I think you're looking for "WM5torage" by Igor V. Bozkho. MoDaCo has it available for download, and it's currently at v1.75. I use this program as well, and it's an absolute crucial utility to have (I'd say!).
Grab it here:
MoDaCo » Downloads » Smartphone Freeware » Utilities - Phone Management » WM5torage
Hope this is the one you were looking for!
Not the one i was thinking of,but even better!
Hey scar45,
thanks very much for getting back to me so fast; the knowledgebase in this community is enormous and I knew that if someone here didn't know what I was on about,it didn't exist!
Thanks very much tho pal, I look forward to using it

ActiveSync 3.8 with WM6.0 - sync'ing Outlook

Hi everyone
Wondering if you can help with a tricky little problem which I am fearing there is no solution to... I've checked the forums and Googled it until I am blue in the face!!
Scenario:
PDA: iPAQ 614c running WM6.0
Work desktop: Running XP Sp2 with ActiveSync v3.8
Obviously not compatable!
I cannot upgrade from AS v3.8 to 4.5 as my work IT have locked everything down and will not allow upgrades at this time.
Highly unlikely I'm sure, but does anyone know whether it's at all possible to hack/roll-back/workaround etc allowing me to sync my WM6.0 PDA with ActiveSync 3.8.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers
Steve

The short answer is "not likely"
However (and this is only a suggestion), try to see if you can find a portable version of ActiveSync 4.5 (to run it from a USB drive). I don't even know if someone has prepared one of these, but that might just solve your problem (if it exists of course )
Hope this helps...
Hey egz. Thanks for your swift reply!
Unfortunately (and rather typically) my work lock down all CD and USB drive access! Very frustrating indeed - I'm glad they trust us IT Developers!
Thanks again for your time, I think I am back to the drawing board.
would be awesome if someone did find a solution to this, as microsoft removed the sync over wifi after this edition of active sync

I feel your pain. It's exactly the same where I work. Sometimes we have to find ways around the security just to be able to do our jobs! It's ridiculous!!

HTC Magic - directions needed

Hi
I hope i'm posting this in the correct section. This one seemed to make the most sense.
I have an HTC Magic from Proximus (Belgian operator) it's a 32A.
I went through a whole bunch of posts and finally rooted my device and installed cyanogenmod on it. I liked it very much but i was having trouble with my bluetooth and couldn't sync with local outlook calendar.
After a bit of searching i tried the HTC Hero 3G mod that was very nice also but again i'm having problems with my bluetooth (connects to the carkit but says it has no signal...) and i still can't sync with my outlook agenda locally.
To make it short, i'm looking for the following:
- A rom for the HTC Magic 32A (from Proximus)
- A rom that has working bluetooth so i can use my carkit
- A rom that can sync with my Outlook calendar (locally)
Maybe i didn't look good enough but i couldn't find one on the forum. Does anyone know of a ROM that is capable of all these things please?
Regards
Mrhubris
Wrong section.
To topic:
Rogers ROMs.
ok, sorry bout the wrong section then.
Is it confirmed that with a rogers rom i can sync my local outlook calendar and that bluetooth works?
