I want to get an android phone, although i have no idea as to which one to get. I have T-Mobile, and price really isnt an option. Ill be getting it around early november, so you can suggest one if it comes out between now and then. I do have my eyes set on the Vibrant right now.

[Q] Which phone to buy?

Okay, so I'm eligible for an upgrade from T-Mobile tomorrow, and can choose any phone I want, and I am wondering which one would be best for me. Obviously, I'm looking for some sort of smartphone but I'm wondering what you guys think. With my last purchase, I found out how quickly I got outdated (yeah, G1) without root. So, what do you guys think?
(I've had my eyes on the G2 for a while. Opinions on it?)

[Q] Who will go to bestbuy to get NS on Thursday?

I don't mind I go there then to see is it available because I have class in the afternoon.
Hopefully the store (either Bay Parkway, Brooklyn or 23rd Street, Manhattan) will let me to mess around the phone before buying it instead of returning it later.
I'll pay in full ($530 + tax) because I have "unlocked phone plan" (EM+).
i'll go pick one up @ the soho bestbuy w/o contract on thursday morning before i go to work
I want to get it too unlocked.. but I want yo know if the community will be large like nexuss one or evo

I will be at BestBuy an hour before they open to beat that one other person that may be there, but yup ill get one
Hope you guys will release the system dump
I'll stop by a BestBuy on thursday to look at the Nexus S for sure.
Got a Nexus One atm so its not an emergency to upgrade.
Ill be buying one only cuz i lost my N1 recently due to being extremly drunk. but have to wait for AT&t/Rogers one if it ever comes out.
waiting paitianly with my HTC Dream.
if i have to wait much longer with this slow ass device i might have to shoot myself.
I will be buying it on day one
i'll be on vacation, but i look forward to seeing all you guys talk about it. (^_^)
I'm going to dive in. The N1 is getting retired from daily use.
I told myself that i would never ever get rid of my N1 but honestly with the market for N1's as it is right now It be stupid not to sell, i got a good price for it
And its better to get rid of it now while the market is high and the next installment is on its way
Who else sold there baby to get the NS?
I will be selling my vibrant for the nexus S not much of an upgrade, but I really like the slight hardware design change and the software (pure android, + ext4fs)
Sent from my Android phone.
I'm selling my Nexus 1 to get the S.
I work Thursday at 10am so hopefully I can snag a Nexus S before work.
I will hit the Best Buy at 86th st in Manhattan and pick mine up on Thursday, probably right when they open.
I'm selling my HTC Desire and yes I will be there on day 1.
I have a Best Buy right across the street from work.
I'll be there when they open.
Star date, 12/16 2010. 8am, you know where to find me.

You won't wait for an AT&T variant?
I want to get it on day one, but with my Nexus One I learned my lesson the hard way. Hopefully Samsung hid the AT&T 3G bands on the chip like they did with the T-Mobile Vibrant.
I'll be at the local Best Buy at 8am to pick up two Nexus S'eses.
"Give me six Schlitzeses"
I may get it, but wanna wait a few days for the real reviews.

Galaxy s 4g

So I have a nexus right now and been yearning for something new for a fee months. I am on t mobile and eligible for a new phone. I actually want a dual core phone but I'm feeling so impatient. And if this phone is coming out now I doubt t mobile will release something better for atleast a few more months after that. So I would be able to get it for 150 on contract. I might be able to sell my nexus for like 250 so I wont be spending any money on that upgrade. Now, my other option is getting an atrix unlocked for full retail price of 500 and use it on t mobile. I don't want to leave to t mobile I like it for some reason. Even though I could get 15 percent off any carrier. But that aside what do you guys think. Because another option also is then sell the s 4g and buy the next good phone falt out and I might end up just paying a difference of 200 or something.
I would wait for galaxy s 2. My N1 can wait another 6 month. I am sure it will be by mid summers.

I can't wait that long damn. I'm desperate already.
Same here, I really want to get another phone on T-Mobile. Personally, I'm not a fan of Samsung, if I had to get one, I'd get the Nexus S (at least the software is managed by Google). Try flashing a custom ROM or something if you haven't already to breath some new life into your phone. I think I'd be worth the wait for something like the LG Optimus 2x/3D or the HTC Pyramid.
Yea I rooted my phone first week I got it. But its been a year already. I would like the optimus but didn't it come out in Europe like a month ago?
Samsung phones look like they were bought from the dollar-store ... just get an HTC/LG
The Galaxy S2 comes out in Europe in February/March. IMO the Atrix will be better, but meh. The LG Optimus 2X also looks very good.
i'm actually sort of in the same boat. i broke my n1 a month ago, and wasnt planning on getting anything new til the optimus or the pyramid.
but now i'm tired of using my HD2 with android, and wanting to get something immediately. cant decide between g2/myt4g or the 4gvibrant. i'm sort of leaning towards the vibrant but the lack of a trackpad or flash is the only thing that is making me hesitate.
i'm also definitely buying the pyramid whenever it comes out, this phone would essentially just be tiding me over till then.
I was in the same boat as well. I wanted to wait for the dual cores before buying a brand new phone so I decided to look for an HD2 to put Android on. It took about two weeks of Craigslist hunting before I got a good deal on one(190 with all the original access. including 16gb sd). I'm running a gingerbread rom on this thing and love it plus it will be pretty easy to get my money back for it in a couple months when the new phones start to hit.
Wait for next generation of nexus...

Dam I think I should wait a little more. The s4g is such a small update that I would be wasting my eligibility for something like it. And hd2? Naw I put android on it for my gf and I much rather have my nexie.

[q] to keep or not to keep infuse?

Please excuse my girlie-ness
Ok here is my dilemma. I just got this phone not realizing the galaxy s2 would be coming out soon. Wasn't thinking...silly me.
Now i have until september 14 to exchange it with best buy if the s2 happens to come out in time and the buy back with best buy.
My problem is that I have no idea if the ATT version of the s2 is even going to be worth it. I hear the battery isn't going to be as large and that they're changing some things.
Should I return this infuse completely and just go buy the euro version from ebay? Should I wait even longer for this s2 Plus I've heard of here and there? (does that actually exist?)
Should I just say eff it and wait another 6 months for my next discounted upgrade and go with whatever is newest then before my 300$ buyback expires?
I want the super crazy fast dual core and the gig of ram....and the overall awesomeness of what I've heard with the s2

Well the window of release per documents on the web is between now and october 2nd.
I have had the chance to play with one....it is awesome...and no, they did not change much.
Is it worth using the buyback.. i dont think so...there are better phones that will release in q4
Is it worth returning the infuse...i say yes...as long as you don't mind patin $100-150 more for the SGS2 when it does finally release.
I have had sources tell me this weekend...next weekend.. and Oct 2nd ..the roadmap says q3 so it honestly could be anytime in September

Thanks! Just realized i can't return it completely bc i won't have a phone...forgot my iPhone sold on ebay.
do you happen to know what they've actually changed?

If the Infuse isn't enough for you, trade it back in. I was in the same boat, but I've noticed nothing where the infuse isn't fast enough for me.
The Galaxy S3 is coming out next year anyway, or another 'super phone'. You might as well wait until ICS drops if you are that worried about future-proofing your phone.
I thought about the same thing...return my Infuse for the SGS2 or hang onto it. I decided to hang onto mine because the 4.5" screen has won me over. The power is perfectly sufficient for me and the style and shape are just right. I also am blown away by the extraordinary sound quality of my Infuse. It's at least on par with my Cowon D2 and iPod Nano 3G, both of which use a Wolfson audio chip.
There's so much to like about the Infuse that I just don't care about the SGS2 enough to give it up. My Infuse is satisfying me perfectly as it is...well...with the expectation of the coming Gingerbread update that I hope will fix some serious issues.
Whether you keep your Infuse or not is really a matter of personal taste. I find my Infuse to be so endearing that I can't part with it.
appreciate your answers! Thank you.
I guess I just don't want to go and switch it for the s2 (if it comes out in time for my swap thing to still be good) and then be stuck with it and not like it as much.
I do love the screen. for sure. and the battery life is amazing for something with a screen this big....its not too slow thats for sure...but the sound was way way too low for me so i have galaxy tuner and its a little better but i can't find a good set up for the app so that it sounds good and loud at the same time. it gets real tinny sounding.
I also hate that the media hub can't connect with hdmi....has anyone found a work around for that yet? Google and forum search has failed me so far.
Also my camera seems to be kinda grainy and the videos i upload to my youtube channel are always off synced with sound.

Worth it?

Hey guys, so i have been wanting to try out WP7 for a while, i have an opportunity to snag up an arrive on contract. since im on sprint there doesnt seem to be much going on in the WP7 area. id love to have a titan 2 like device or even one i know is going to get the latest versions, however that doesnt appear to be sprints concern.
anyways long story short is it worthwhile for me to put my epic 4g touch off to the side for while and snag the arrive and give it a run for its money? or should i hope that some day sprint brings another windows phone out? (preferably with a bigger screen)
I really like my arrive, WP7 is a great OS, but please do keep in mind that this device is getting long in the tooth. The arrive was brought to sprint over a year ago.
The DFT rom is great and enables internet sharing.
I'd only go for it now if you are enamored with the idea of a hardware keyboard. Otherwise, I'd wait until the summer to see if sprint brings a Nokia WP in.
http://www.sprintfeed.com/2012/03/sprint-developing-lte-windows-phone-with-fall-release-in-mind/
Sprint apparently has a new windows phone in the pipeline but it wont be until the fall, I havent seen any other rumored windows phones for sprint. I love windows phone and the arrive for the most part suits my needs but there is definitely some apps missing when compared to iPhone and Android.
Hope that helps.
I switched to Sprint and grabbed the Arrive when it came out ($50 on contract at the time). I love the phone and love the OS, but I'd hold off because I expect Sprint to feel the Nokia love before the end of the year.
The two gripes I have about the Arrive is that it's only 3G and I don't even have the option for ICS (sans custom ROMs which I'm waiting for those to shake out a little more before I take that plunge). Those aren't major gripes, just the two biggest issues I have with the phone. If you don't just totally hate your phone, I'd stick with it (or look at getting an Arrive from someone who didn't like it and is selling it used). Save your upgrade for the Nokia and I think you'll enjoy it even more.
yea after a bit of searching and deciding on it all im gunna try and pick up an arrive on teh cheap and us eteh upgrade on the new one...
sadly they still want 50 dollars on contract for this phone :/ which is teh same amount as the photon which is less then 10 moinths old

I have had my Epic 4g since launch and after trying Win 8 Preview I wanted to try WP7. I went to a sprint store and tried the Arrive and I liked it. So, I found a refurbished Arrive on ebay to try out for $150 shipped. I'm up for an upgrade. But, I know the flagship phones are coming out at the end of the year and I will save it for that. Have you thought about buying an off contract phone and waitng for the phone you really want?
fwiw you can get the arrive for free on contract from wirefly
I just got this phone due to a finally dead TP2. Rest in Peace TP2. I will miss you so very much.
I really don't know why this device isn't more popular. The keyboard is basically the same as TP2, (best ever), and the phone is lightning quick. It's made very user friendly. Slide to what you want and the learning curve is almost non existent. To each their own I suppose, but for me, I will be happy with this device.
i was waiting for a GREAT wp7 on sprint but couldn't wait any longer. Picked up a used arrive today for fairly cheap and man I'm loving it so far. It's so fast compared to my ancient tp2. I've already downgraded spl, rspl/hspl, and flashed dft gold_c v1. Great rom so far. I'm loving ie9.
I agree to others that it is not really worth the contract for this because of it's age, but I still love this phone a lot. Of course I didn't have a chance to try an android phone(or native android phone, I tried the android port on TP2), so I can't say this is better, but it fit my taste.
Now, serious question, how to load 8107?
