Maybe the stuff you purchased, but I just tested playing a trailer with Mediahub after removing the two files and it played fine.

I thought the whole purpose of that service was to check if you have pirated files, thus meaning if there is nothing to check nothing should go wrong?
[edit] I did exactly what was told and the service still starts up?
[edit2] Okay guys those are the incorrect files to delete, i went into titanium back up and deleted DRM content something (it was the only DRM there after i deleted the two with SDX) i forgot the name of it was going so fast. Can someone do me a favor do what was provided above delete the two files, and tell me which DRM file is left over in titanium back-up? That is the one your suppose to delete. And i restored the other two files, the service still doesn't start up .

Just tested and it works, doesn't restart after reboot. I'm running Baked Snack 1.0 and MixUp kernel. Haven't tried media hub, i'm not about to spend 2.99 to rent a movie on my phone lol
EDIT: I have only had this working for roughly 10 minutes, and I can already see a significant improvement in battery life. This should be stickied for sure. +Props

What does this file do? i dont mind deleting it. Just curious of what its purpose is?

It says 'We're sorry, there was an Exception thrown while deleting: Error could not mount /system: Permission denied'
What am I doing wrong?

Means your not rooted(or rooted properly).
You have to be rooted to use the sdx system file remover, and pretty much to use any other method of removing system files.

SDX Stock App Remover will delete stock .apk files that come preloaded. After install DI07, the MediaHub will be activated as well as the DRM service. This will prevent the DRM from starting automatically as to improve battery life. Just follow the directions.

In Titanium Backup the name of the file is "DRM Protected Content Storage 2.1-update1"
Obviously it will be different if you're on DG27 (will it be there at all?). I can confirm uninstalling this does stop the DRM service from running. I'm going to leave those two .apk files in the OP deleted too just because I don't see a reason to undelete them.

Makes sure the sdx app has superuser permissions if you have the superuser app installed.

You also need to backup/delete SisoDrmProvider.apk or it will still be active in running services after reboot.

Ever since deleting those two files with sdx and then that other file in titanium I cannot play any of the hd videos I recorded with my phone or any of my drm-less movies I put on my sd card

[HACK] Kill Amazon MP3 Store Application

Even though I keep killing with Task Manager the Amazon MP3 Store application, it keeps coming back, how I can stop it from auto running all the time or even better to fully remove it from the phone ?, thanks
I fully removed it from the adb shell using rm -f. I think it's stored somewhere in /data/app. Anywais, just look for the apk and remove it.

If you are using enom's ROM , the option for removing amazon MP3 , and other built-in apps .. is under spareparts :

You also can remove it with "Root Explorer" from the market too...

Yep.
If you want to completely remove it, rm the apk, the related /data/data/.. folder, the related dalvik-cache object and remove it from packages.xml.
But for a quick removal just del the apk (and .odex if exists).
Or you could just get root manager from the market (paid app) which allows you to uninstall system apps
Can someone please explain to me why programs like the Amazon MP3 store come back after reboot each time I've deleted it. I've deleted it via Root Manager, android mate, titanium backup and all the other methods listed in this forum. Each seem to be rid of the files with out issue. Then I reboot ...and the program is BACK. Clearly there is something I'm missing when i reboot the system reverts back before I deleted it. I just want this sprint bloatware gone

Sounds like you're not mounting the file system for writing before trying to write (delete) to the file system.
Very interesting thought. I figured since I'm not familiar with these root file system programs yet I could easily have it set to read only instead of write but after some digging I do have the software set to allow write permissions. I found some posts regarding this deleted program respawning issue. the general consensus is its the systems NAND protection. Im going to work on disabling that and trying again. thanks for the great suggestion though.
tipe this on your termina without the quotes if you dont have a terminal get one at the market.
"su"
"mount -o rw,remount /system"
"rm -r /system/app/com.amazon.mp3.apk"
"pm uninstall com.amazon.mp3"
In root explorer I went in to /system/apps and deleted .com.amazon.mp3.apk. Is that fine or is there anything else I need to delete to uninstall it?

delete the stock apps

Sorry fellas.. had to tend to the baby So.... I searched everywhere on this this site, and i cant find a thread on how to delete stock apps. Can it be done? I run a My touch 4g slide, rooted\s-off. Im sure i'ts somewhere on this forum. Can anyone please help me? Thanks so very much!!
Mount /system with r/w permission:
mount -o remount,rw -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 /system
Then you'll be able to delete your system app
eg.: rm /system/app/Browser.apk
delete stock apps android

Hey thanks so much for the replies and help!! Unfortunately Hanisa i have no idea what that means so i'll have to do a lil' research on that
Thanx BazookaAce,XperienceD and Hanisa I thumbs u up
Root app remover removes only x programs for free, then you need to buy it.
The easiest method I found, was to download a root file manager program e.g. File expert.
Then mount system as R/W to be able to write to the directory ie. deleting files.
System apps is located in /system/apps.. start deleting.
Theres more pages online to check which apps to delete or more important, not to delete!
The apps on this tested safe and worked for me:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/10-2-final-lite-edition-made-by-you.4255/
Thanx csensitive! I have to do research since I dont know how to mount and use R\W Or maybe u just explained it...root file manager..

Did you go for File expert, which is free in market and has interface to mount R/W?
If you did:
1. Check the root option under settings to give it superuser rights
2. Mount R/W using Mount in the program interface
3. Press back until it says "if you press back again it closes sumthin) Here you are at the root of the phone.
4. Go to System and then app. Start deletin all the unuseful stuff.. delete the wrong stuff and you will break your system
No I went with Root Explorer, I really like the way it's laid out. I learned it well enough to change my boot animation a few times! Browsing through all the files a folders for a few days now. Also, leaned how to use Terminal Emulator. This stuff sure is fun! I found the folder that contains the info on the backlit keyboard and hardware buttons. I'm doing some research on how to get a code in there so I can control the brightness of those features. Could be out of my league though as I'm still too fresh to all this.
Its's not recommended to remove stock apps
I agree. If you delete the wrong ones you will end up,well, we all know the answer to that I've been using Titanium Backup to freeze the application first, but not before I find out what it is used for. I don't really want to say how much more responsive my phone is now,so I won't I would rather not jinx it!
Blue6lx made a rather exellent tutorial on what the apps are, and their applicable functions. Thanks so much to him!! That must have taken a long while to complete!
It is very thorough. I just saw it last night and am heading that way right now! Have a great day!
There's tons of stock apps thats not neccesary if you dont use them, ie. stock browser, sns client, samsung sync and so on. If you dont use the facebook app to sync, want another browser, dont use talk and so on, many of the apps just takes up space.
Many of them even run in startup as services/programs and uses RAM.
I removed about 30% of the stock apps, and could remove more if I wasnt afraid to break things
That's so true.
I deleted with success the following,
com.android.htcprofile
com.eamobile.bejeweled2_small
com.htc.android.netlogger
com.htc.socialnetwork.flickr
com.htc.Twitter3DWidget
com.netflix.mediaclient
com.tmobile.theme.Brooklyn 2.3.4
com.tmobile.theme.Retro 2.3.4
com.tmobile.theme.Spring 2.3.4

Picasa Web Albums 3.0.3
Ringtone Trimmer 115132628.58088
Scribble 1.0.2115202467.62132
Slacker 2.1.196
T Mobile TV 4.3.1.43.144294
TrimIt 1.6.8.110525
Zinio Reader 2.03.3312
That's it so far, any of the above mentioned have been frozen first using Titanium Backup and after not seeing any ill effects, deleted thereafter.
I believe titanium backup also can delete em, and easy to backup first.
You are correct sir
thanks for this

In my other android device experience, Nook Color / Simple Touch, YouTube is instrumental in the Google Apps authentication process. For instance to get market working on nooted versions of those devices you had to sign into YouTube first.

Fair enough. Why don't you give it a try? Make a nandroid backup and then delete the file via ADB in recovery mode (or move it to /data/local/tmp for easy restore). Clear Cache / Dalvik reboot and see if anything isn't working properly.
I would say you can delete via ADB in ICS but many people, myself included, are having issues mounting /system in ICS. It could be possible that this failure for /system to consistently mount could be why TiBu isn't freezing it properly.
Use root uninstaller, its how I have removed all system apps since my gb 2.3.1 days on my x10. A very effective method
Thank you for responces.
The proper way I found would be to transfer it to a User App and uninstall.

You don't need to download a whole ROM for one apk. The third link in my signature has all the stock GB apks. You likely need to reflash anyways or add back the apk's you deleted until you get market working. You probably deleted an apk the market needs in order to run. I've done that a few times. You can flash back to stock using the guide in the second link of my signature.
Next time instead of deleting the apk's rename them putting a '.bak' on the end of the file name then test how the phone does. That way you can remove the '.bak' if something goes wrong and determine what caused it.

Start over. It will take too long to walk you through the non reflashing way. Follow the guide in the second link of my signature. It will put you back on Stock unrooted GB. Go from there. Reread my suggestion above before you start deleting things. Good luck.

[Q] hard reset proofing apps

I have an app on my phone that I want to hard reset proof not just the apk (which ive already done) but the settings also. ive tried using root explorers and changing the permissions for the /data/data folders but that doesnt help, ive tried converting the user app to a system app AFTER I set up all my options, hoping that would save all my settings, and I tried changing the permissions of my "system" app to prevent any changes. no luck. ive been researching like crazy and I hope im not posting in the wrong forum but can someone explain how to make my app and its settings master reset proof? thanks a bunch!
btw I have a rooted tmobile samsung galaxy s3 (sgh-t999) with the latest android (4.1.1 using the root66 rom), with supersu and busybox if that helps. and if it works for my s3, would the same steps work on my note 2?

yes the app is in my system/app and it does survive a master reset but the settings of the app don't. Would I have to build a custom rom after installing the app and getting the settings all set how I want? Then If it's master reset it should save the settings, right?

Normally Android keeps app data under /data/data.
When you commit a hardreset, /data gets wiped. So all your app data gets removed.
You have to keep your app data under /system if you are the developer of that app

Depends on who the developer of that app is.
If it's not you, yes you have move that folder after every hardreset.
If it's you, I suggest you to use /system as your app data folder.
unfortunately I'm not the apps developer. However, if I created a custom rom by installing whatever room I wanted, then setting up the app as I want it, then creating a custom rom from that, then flash it, would that solve the problem? Because (if im understanding things right lol) then someone could matter reset it and it would revert to how the chain rom was when I flashed it, correct?

I'm already using a hardreset proof app on my note 2. It uses /etc folder to keep its app datas in a file. After hardreset it detects its data folder wiped, then restores settings from the backup file under /etc.
Of course your program will need root permission to do that.

can u describe how to do this in a bit more detail? Because I have an apk that I was able to put into the system/app folder, but would LOVE to save the settings so they are master-reset proof. I've contacted the developer but he was a bit of a jerk actually, saying I shouldn't need any reason to hard reset proof the apk..... ugh
From my experience, the avast! anti-theft app consist of 2 hard-reset proof part:
1. APK file in /system/app
2. Setting file (data) in /etc
Both survived hard reset...
The only way to get rid is via Aroma File Manager or flashing ROM.
Get titanium backup, backup all data of the app, and install the update. Then put the data back, if im correct settings would be copy pasted to this way. I use it for many system apps to get data back.

If you are willing to learn how to script... it's all possible
I have done this before...
Use busybox commands...
Make a backup script that would back up all the user data in tar file.
Make a backup of apps you like to be restored on first boot of any rom.
on first boot let the script install the backed up apps, after install see if data exist for the package you just installed, get permission/owner of the package, restore data and apply permission to data.
i think is the basic
attached are the scripts i used to make this work on android 2.1
i even made a custom progress bar lol that used bootanimation as base...
.... copies custom bootanimation on start
.... copies custom boot sound...
.... restores wifi settings...
.... played music while restoring....
.... uses logcat as primary logging...
i am not sure if these scripts are the latest ones... but they worked at some point...
all was done in here...
