its nearly impossible to port windows mobile to any other device apart from a windows mobile device, apart from the legalities of it all, unlike android and symbian windows mobile isnt open source, so no open source drivers ect exist

windows mobile motorola a1000!!

can any one plzz help if i can i put windows mobile on my motorola A1000. i'd appreciate suggestions and ROMs
cheerz
No, it's a Symbian OS phone with a totally different architecture and screen resolution to Windows Mobile devices.
Also, unless Motorola developed a build for it, nobody else would have all of the necessary drivers etc to make it work.
Windows Mobile isn't a generic OS that can be installed on any device, it is built on top of an embedded platform specific to device hardware.
where can i get the latest symbian upgrade for it then..........its locked to three network........i wanna DE-brand it and put on a new symbian OS so it can accept other sim cards
cheers
I have no idea, this site is for XDA devices, mainly Windows Mobile, but with a few able to run Linux.
Perhaps if you look for a Symbian UIQ forum?
What you're looking for is:
www.allaboutsymbian.com
I think from memory they have dedicated A1000 forums.

Windows moblie app running on android ?

I'm thinking about changing my current TP2 for the upcoming HTC Desire but I have a concern : I have a windows mobile app (an encyclopedia) that runs exclusively on windows mobile os and it doesn't exist on android. Is there a winmo emulator on android within which I could run winmo apps ? A kind of Ubuntu Wine perhaps ?
(I searched about this and found nothing...)
Thanks in advance

Wine by far predates Ubuntu!
But to answer your question: No.
There isn't an emulator to run WinMo on Android.
There are plenty of encyclopedias for Android though, do none of them have what you want?

Unfortunately, the application I'm using on WinMo is a non-public kind of encyclopedia (business stuff). Perhaps I'll have to wait for the company that made the application to port it to Android ....

No sorry, a program has to be compiled for the WM operating system.
Please post a short description of your program and it's function. Maybe useres here could offer you a good working alternative?

[Q] Windows phone or windows mobile

As far as I know there isn't any PC emulator on Windows phone 7 because Microsoft haven't released a native C++ SDK for WP7 and PC emulators has written in C++.
I want to buy a new phone but I don't know to buy a Windows mobile or a Windows phone device?
I need a PC emulator which is not available for WP7 but it is for WM (QEMU) but WM is going to die!
What do you suggest? Buy a WP7 phone or WM6.5?

Porting Windows Mobile for Monte?

Hello
I would like to ask, what do you think of porting Windows Mobile for Samsung Monte? Windows Mobile has lower system requirements than Android and Bada. Older PDAs working somehow deal with this system.
And how about that?
I'm sorry, I use Google Translator
