I just got the sprint update 9/24/2010 and removed the recovery image and threw in su and flash_image also the superuser apk. If anyone is wondering yes they removed the ##PRL# code form the phone. This doesn't allow the abd remount command. Instead use this
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/block3 /system
if you want to remove sprint apps
I didn't really notice a big difference if any in speed since i'm a usual froyo user
Almost forgot just flash this in recovery like any other zip it's for odexed .6 roms
[COLOR]do not wipe[/COLOR]
does this provide and update to the new PRI, 2.62_003? id like to delete a bunch of crap.
im using the ota atm and its much better than any other stock htc/sprint release prior.

I believe so I just flashed back to cm6 myself but since I don't know how to check the pri on cm6 I can just give you my speculation. I would say yes because the pri hasn't been affected so far.

Because of the update-script and the p files it won't
Going to give it a shot for a bit...
I notice the "cp" command is missing also from the shell... looks like bash isn't there as the default shell (at least it's not in /system/bin).
I unrooted then i add that update zip they have on xda for 2.31.651.7 and it works like a champ... You have to unroot get the ota to .6 then use the one click to root your phone then rom manager to get that recovery... Then you go into recovery to flash the update zip to 2.31.651.7.. And bam, let everything boot up then nanded right back to Cm6 Black and Gold Mod... Took my phone in while it was unrooted and they didn't even know how update the phone to 2.31.651.7... LOL !!!! I was like so how do I do this and that, and they didn't have a clue... Went home and put the update on and then, bam again, Got 2.31.651.7 on the phone so it does the full update to the prl and spl or whatever, lol !!! And went straight back to what I had before unrooting then added your newest update...

What I don't understand, is that how can someone work at a sprint store and give false information when that same someone knows damn well he/she is wrong... Or doesn't have a clue what a customer needs or wants (me).
I ran this for a couple of days, and noticed when I was out and about using 3G data, that my phone had issues with logging in...
I reverted back to my previous "good" rom, and haven't had a problem since...
Not sure what to say.
If you're using CM6, I fail to see a need for this. Someone please enlighten me if I'm missing something. What good does a new PRI do when we already have everything working on CM6?

Honestly it's just something people wanna try. I'm actually scared of a new pri from sprint just because I think that it probably would take away the ability to usb tether. Remember the pri situation back in april?
But I don't have a problem Helping people get it. Just because that means now I know where it's at

ok let me get this straight some of u guys are getting confused.....
ok me and the op ...flashed the new damage control rom (with ota update)
and i also flashed the wiimax update from (calkulin)
as u guys know this update screwed alot of peoples 4g....
so even after flashing or restoring the 4g wouldnt work/..
so only way to get the 4g orking was to downgrade that 1.47 wii max update i repeat (calkulins)because that screwed up the 4g ,but since the stock rom has 1.32 and we had 1.47 we couldnt run the exe .....
so we did the steps below to get the 4g working aghain....so this is onlky if u upgraded calkulins wiimax and screwed up ur 4g.Hope it helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701835
i followed these steps and instead of using adb like it says in the link i used android terminal to run the comand that starts in adb like in the link but insteas of adb this is what i used typed (su) with android terminal
start it with (su) as you see down here
su
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
chmod 755 /data/flash_image
/data/flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd-eng.img
after i typed that in the android terminal i put in the pc36img.zip in my root of sd card
then
hold volume down + power to boot into hboot
- it should now find and verify the PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sdcard. itll show a blue status bar on the top right of the screen.
- after a minute or so it will ask u if u wanna flash SAY YES
- affter it flashes the PC36IMG.zip it will ask if you wanna reboot. SAY YES
then
After if finally boots you should see HTC quietly brilliant which hangs forever but it should eventually get past it. Once it does you will have the oldest everything.
then all i did was htc sync and then run the original stock rom wich i got from here wich is the first link
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
then Perefect done hope to Help and special thanks to

Im a Happy camper now
works for me im currently in stock an di updated to the newest upgrade for stock and im just gunna wait till something stable comes out
I dont get it. If you already are rooted with the stock and want to go to anything all you need to do is wipe and flash. If you want to go to a non rooted stock all you need to do is download the stock you want and run the exe. Why go through all of this?

to go back to non-root stock just install the supersonic old file.
Let me explain....he flashed calkulin Wii max update Nd broke his 4g ..so every custom Rom or stock 4g wouldn't work,,,so he wanted to go back to stock but couldn't run the executive shipped .1 or .6 because he was getting the usb error or bootloader timed out ..because the stock exe us 1.39 n calkulins wiimax update is 1.47 so he had to downgrade to go back to stock......get it.....

I am trying to go back to stock ROM from non-rooted 1.47.651.1, is that possible. I have read and read threads and I am now pretty confused??
The OP was probably not in the true sense of having the OTA applied because when he typed "su", he should have gotten an access denied because with the OTA applied, you can't get root access. I tried what he said worked for him and it all produces a permission denied.

$ cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image

Also, I can connect to 4G after flashing the shipped RUU. Make sure to say NO! to the OTA update it wants to DL. That hasn't been rooted once applied yet.
I think I get it, but for my own curiosity sake... once you flash a radio update and wimax update you can't flash stock? I was under the impression that stock would flash a radio, and ROM and wipe over anything pre-existing. Except if an OTA was applied.
Any idea if this would fix those that flashed the unrevoked update as well?
Anyone who lost 4G doing unrevoked try yet?
Sent from my EVO 4G using the XDA App.
Ok ...no u can't flash back to stock if u flash Wiimax update and radio...but we only flashed the wiimax update not the radio because calkulins released a wiimax update only first,,well a lot of users flashed it ,and it broke the 4g on almost all of us who flashed it..so how can u update a lower image....get it. Update 1.47 img to 1.32 ...?so there was a need to downgrade to get the stock back with out the wiimax update..so this is wa we dis to downgrade

Dani897 has already made a discussion of this, but I'm moving this information over as an official post in the Infuse 4G section as well.
This is from existz/untermensch's thread. I take no credit. See here for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909213
Making this modification will allow you to flash un-signed .zip files due to signature verification being turned off. (3e requires root)
* Download and extract the .zip
* Use a terminal emulator or ADB Shell and mount system as read/write.
* For backup purposes, use adb or root explorer to rename the current recovery file in /system/bin to recovery.orig
* Use a file manager (Root Explorer) and copy the new recovery file to /system/bin
* Reboot and your 3e (Froyo stock) recovery will no longer require signature checking.
You can now use this recovery or use the CWM from Captivate (posted in another thread here).
I am not responsible if this bricks your phone. This is easy cheese...just follow these steps.

Yes. it is working on mine right now.

still there is disbelief. yes people it works! im not sure what trouble people are having flahsing roms but cwm and 3e can flash .zip files just fine. i expected to see some flashable mods and themes by now. i have successfully flashed files for testing purposes and im not too advanced of a user. i planed to post some things like a market fix and such but i have been disrtacted.

Dani, i completely agree. If you notice, I made mention of your testing at the top of the article.
Now that there is a dedicated thread, its much more likely to be realized that this works FINE. I think once I get a tester for the Odin package I slapped together to get us back to stock in case we brick, and get it successfully setup, i'll put a thread out and we can REALLY get to work on some ROMs.
So far, this phone's software is nearly identical to the Captivate, meaning we will just need to port from the Captivate and we will have a mass of ROMs in no time!

as soon as we get some kernel dev on this thing i agree. porting will be easy. thanks for the write ups too. are you planning to get a second phone? i would test if i had two of them. my captivate will go to my brother, if it weren't for that id have probably bricked it and begged some people to try making new odin packages for me to fix it.
i understand that after a brick the user hates not having the phone and may be very tempted to return it but it is helpful to everyone to try all you can to recover it. if mine bricks im using the insureance plan and saying it was stolen, then i will have a dedicated test phone.
I have an Atrix as well, but would prefer someone who may have already bricked to try this package that i wrote up this morning.
I dont mind someone wanting to swap.their phone...but i literally need about an hour or two of time with the brick's user and its very likely that we will have working Odin....and then you and i...as well as others... can do kernel and rom deving nearly immediately. We have source already, so we only need to test this safety net . PM me if you find someone who is bricked or is willing to test!!

I have a bricked Infuse im not sure what caused the crash. I was running stock rooted by the super one click method and was uninstalling an app when it went all black except the bottom keys. Doesnt do much of anything else now. I attempted an odin fix someone suggested to no avail. I can get into download mode still but nothing else. Id be willing to try anything to unbrick it .
it's working for me, I unzipped, put the file in my dropbox, downloaded the file on phone from dropbox, used root explorer to mount, (I'm already rooted) copied the file, went to system/bin, renamed the original, then pasted the new file, rebooted, flashed CWM to captivate, and rebooted into recovery, and it works. I still have my HTC Inspire, i'm on a 30 day run here to see if i like the infuse. So far it's the best GPS i've had, and i've had a lot of phones. I hate to think I spent 600 bucks on a another captivate. I had that phone as well, but so far i really like it.

dont do that. you dont want the captivate param.ifs on here. you may loose download mode if the boot parameters get messed up. especially dont flash anything with bootloaders, that means no one click nad no 3-button fix roms. this may be similar to the galaxy s but there are atleast a few differences in hardware layout that would make that a bad idea. for instance this can run gps and camera during phone calls. the sgs cant so the way things comunicate on the board may be differet, it may also just be differences in the kernel or framework but we cant be sure.

Sweet! So the dump was good then it sounds like. So just to sum it all up, odin the pda tar and it restores and wipes EVERYTHING!
Woops! AND DEODEXED!!?!?
I'm pretty new to all of this, but here is how I did it. Make sure you have busybox installed!
Extract the "recovery" file to your phone's internal SD card.
On your phone, go into your terminal emulator.
Type in "su" and press enter.
Type in "cd /sdcard" and press enter.
Type in "mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/stl9 /system"
Type in "cp -f recovery /system/bin" and press enter.
Reboot your phone.
Maybe this will help someone. Maybe it's not even the right way to do this, and my phone will soon explode. I'm a pretty big noob with this, so someone let me know.
PS: If you brick your phone, it isn't my fault.

2. What thing will I use Terminal emulator or ADB SHELL to make it read/write is that 2 an Android apps I'm lost here. I am trying to be careful, I searched and found too much post and way different doing this. So now I am confuse.

I came from an iphone as well, about 2 weeks ago. I used the method posted in my previous reply. It worked for me, and has been doing fine so far. One thing you must do is make sure busybox is installed before you try it though. If you dont have busybox installed, none of the commands will work. Then just download "Terminal Emulator" from the market, and use that to give commands.

Okay so from the help of GTG I removed the Root off the stock rom.
Here's what i did. It's probably obvious for others, but I didnt realize it so whatever, just posting it incase anyone got stuck with the rooted gingerbread 2.3.3 and didnt know how to rid of the root. For me superoneclick doesnt work dont know why. So also you can use this method if you cant get that to work.
I also didnt realize that root explorer could just remove the root files so that when you factory reset it doesnt come back. Go figure .

FLASH KERNEL WITH ODIN --
After phone has booted
Download Root explorer from market & locate and delete:
/system/xbin/su
/system/xbin/busybox
/system/app/Superuser
go to settings>Privacy
-- DELETE USER DATA ALONG WITH SD CARD DATA --
DO IT, reboot. NO ROOT PURE STOCK.
When you factory reset the root wont be there either. Thank god.

Not to nitpick but I'm looking at the 'gtg's stock uxkg3 rom with root removed' and noticed that it has the de-odexed apk's and framework files. I'm pretty sure that the Rogers Infuses, out of the box, have odex files. Would the lack of odex files be enough reason for Rogers not to service an Infuse with the reason being that some of the system files have been modified?
Also, not a big deal, but the updater-script still has references to 'su' and 'busybox' and symlinks to bin files that do not exist (ex. mkdir).
It would be awesome if gtg could provide the original framework. Or anyone with a rogers phone.

ok guys heres what im gonna do. im gonna download the odin version of the uxkg3 root package. pull all the apps and framework from there. and drop them into the rom package on here. i need someone to test once im done.
The odin version, are you able to remove the odex or whatever its called from it? And I'd be willing to test it when i get back home. Around 6-7pm est time. I take it around 5-6pm for your time Jordan.

I recently have a problem with my Rogers infuse. I searched the internet, and even ask this via PM from another person who have the same problem, but no solution. Here is my problem:
During one of my recovery attempts, I flashed a ATT ROM using Odin which also includes the infuse.pit file. After that, the initial logo of ROGERS which was shown in the beginning is gone. I later installed ROGERS rom, but the logo is still not there.
I had full nandoird backups before that, but restoring none of them solved the problem. Is it possible for one of the people who have a ROGERS infuse to create a full back (using heimdall) and share the .pit file and the different partitions (mainly non system and non data partitions)?
I could not find any complete ROGERS rom. Although there are some complete ATT roms (such as SGH_I997-UCKE3-Stock-Noboot-One-Click ), there is no one for ROGERS.

I believe you can use any of the ATT STOCK Firmware but under the APN, just put in Roger's network for connection.
Roger's natively start at 2.3.3 GB.
Some of the Roger's users may have a stock version around in cyberspace

Thanks for your reply. However, as I said, my problem is not the ROM. I installed a ATT Full recovery ROM that includes the .pit file, and I think a series of partitions other than system and data. So although I reinstall a Rogers ROM, I still have no initial ROGERS logo in boot up, and instead, it shows a random series of lines. I have no other problem in the functionalities of the phone.

that's because you flashed an att param.ifs. you must have used a froyo unbrick package. i dont know if there is a rogers dump with param.ifs but there are captivate threads (old ones) that have tools to change that splash screen and i have heard it works on the infuse but the mod never became popular around here. if i were you i'd flash an att rom and modem with a custom kernel,(better camera performance, and better battery life) change the apn and then change the splash and boot animation to something cool! unless of coarse you are worried about the warranty. if you are worried about insurance just report the thing missing...

I tried to flash att roms, but they never boot after flash. That was why I return to Rogers rom, and now I am using ICS. Could you provide more detail about those splash screen changing tools? And also, is there anyone here with an Rogers Infuse that can send me the param.ifs file from his phone?
Mine's a Rogers Infuse and I'm sure at one point I used an unbrick package that changed my splash screen from Rogers to At&t.
If I remember correctly, I used Odin and a "return to stock" which brought back my Rogers splash screen.
I'll try and track down the package I used...

Hey, pd0gg.
We can try to put together a heimdall for Rogers' users.
If you have odin'ed to rogers stock, flash an insecure gb kernel (bedwa, zen, entropy..doesn't matter which one) and run adb or terminal to get access to system files.
this shows you how to dump the partition:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348392
from adam's op:
su
#Mount The /system folder as RW so we can read and write to it
mount -o remount,rw /system /system
#Make our folder to write the firmware package onto the SDCard
mkdir /sdcard/firmwarepackage
#Begin transfer of all relevant blocks to sdcard
dd if=/dev/block/stl9 of=/sdcard/firmwarepackage/factoryfs.img bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml7 of=/sdcard/firmwarepackage/zImage bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/stl10 of=/sdcard/firmwarepackage/dbdata.img bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/stl11 of=/sdcard/firmwarepackage/cache.img bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml12 of=/sdcard/firmwarepackage/modem.bin bs=4096
#Done
echo done
Use the lines above. The other parts doesn't apply.
Pull the pit file from the unbrick or any of the 1 click package.
Make up the 1click from the op.
The other option would be to pull the data from the odin tar and put them into a 1 click
As Dani897 has stated though, I think it's really pointless as the Roger's Firmware is inferior. No hdmi or Hd video etc...using the att firmware, change out the boot screen and add roger's apn is a better idea.

It is usually advisable to try it before you post it.
For the record, I'm not keen on flashing Roger firmware on my native att Infuse.

The one-click has been generated; however, I have not had a chance to test it. It's been a busy day and I simply ran out of time.
As an aside, I had never even looked at Heimdall until I responded to this thread. I can see now why folks use it and recommend it

Should I do the basic rooting work (I'll admit to being busy today) or just wait for y'all?
i personally prefer having people using cwm to root since it helps them learn. when a new update comes out they are gunna have to root using cwm or a new "rooted" kernel. the kernel is fine but when you guys get an update to jellybean that same kernel isnt gunna work.
dont let that detract from what you wish to do tho. im glad i could help out and help work towards getting you guys rooted

Stock recovery worked. Thanks shabby. Also your guide to unlocking/flashing cwm was flawless.
I'm wondering if the update didn't work because I flashed a newer version of CWM.
I remember on the Shift I stayed on 5.0.2.0 for pretty much ever because it just worked.
Anyways after wiping, booting the phone in to bootloader and hitting "check for update" 3 times I got the OTA.
Thanks for all your hard work!
to flash the stock recovery is it just

I rooted my Photon Q. After receiving the update notification, the update would not take. The phone kept rebooting into bootloader. I had to clean cache to stop it.
So, I took your stock boot and recovery images and flashed them to my phone. I could not get the phone to re-lock boot loader. I tried the update again and it worked. The phone is no longer rooted (as expected) but the boot loader is unlocked. Should I try to root the phone again using cwmrecovery.img? Or would that overwrite these updates????

yeah, anytime you have an unlocked bootloader, you can always flash a custom recovery and then flash Superuser to root.... it won't overwrite the update, it will give you root access on the update, if that is your goal.

I have posted updated 77.1.80 system, boot, and stock recovery images here. This system is NOT rooted, odexed and completely plain factory settings. Only thing not stock is the boot animation, and obviously is the ever-daunting software update installed.
Hope it helps some people out there.
