ok so on the 29 0f december cooltek released the new professional version of touch pal excellent i thought my fave keypad has been updated!! so of i go to buy it... $19 approx £10 in my opinion well worth it , with option to enlarge or shrink the keyboard as suites your dexterity it cant be beat, on my tytn i no longer use my keyboard!
so happy in my new purchase i settle in for many hours of happy typing very pleased with the responsive and intuitive screen keyboard, then what do you know i get an email from paypal saying i've been issued a a partial refund from cooltek of $9.01 effectivly halving my purchase price, i also get a free license for a friend for my early adoption of the official release!!!
WOW thats customer relations for you!!
rekon its worth seeing if you can get the same too!!!
from a very very happy cooltek customer THANKS!!!!
oh i suppose i should add that i'm not the employ of cooltek!!!
Yeah, right. Way to conceal the informercial........
LOL does sound like one!!!! ha ha!
but its only my shock at getting such excellent service from cooltek! or any other supplier for that matter!
I second that. Got a refund and an extra licence! Another happy customer
cheers damac!
i was looking far too much like a cooltek fanboy!
*cough* *cough*
I've you are not doing anything with the extra licence
I know a willing victim who would like it
... But only if you really don't have a goal for it
Greetz,
I also got it
I also got a refund and the extra license
Would just like to second the usefulness of TouchPal.
Been using since the free version 1 was out and recently upgraded to the paid version 2. Ever since I have started using TouchPal I rarely use the slide out mechanical keyboard on my TyTn II.
I am now considering buying the Polaris when it is available in my country but if it had not been for TouchPal I would have never even considered a PPC without built in keyboard.
Coming to customer service it again is top class. When I purchased from Handango I got into some trouble as the link at Handango was still pointing to the free version 1. Cootek was really swift to resolve this issue within a few hours.
And let me add no matter how I sound, I have no link with Cootek. It is just that I am impressed with their product and would like fellow members to know about it.
Wow, I love this keyboard. This is WELL worth the money.
Mia
Hello all, i'm one of the many very happy users of TouchPal. I've had since its release a couple of months ago and its ment that with my orbit I can now do everything stylus free.
I went over to the site to investigate this half price offer and the refund and free licience you guys have been getting is a new years gift from Cootek! I was going to keep the free version but this offer has got me sold (yes i'm a cheap skate so this offer is perfect!). Note that it ends on 1st Feb 08 thou!
Link to the new years message from Cootek: http://www.cootek.com/blog/post/New-Year-Gift-for-Early-Adopters!.aspx
I also noticed there is an update with bux fixes also (released 3rd Jan): http://www.cootek.com/blog/post/TouchPal-V2-Update-(release-202).aspx
Very handy!
If anybody let's go of their extra license for 5 bucks I'd love to try the pro version myself. Just see it as a free drink (or two) sponsored by me for a small favor ;-) Just PM me if you're interested.
My device, Axim X51V, is quite a fast one, or this is my impression about this kind of CPU's. Touchpal made me feel I was using a 200MHz OMAP.
So after a few tests in which I've seen it doesn't do much I've uninstalled it quickly. Sorry, but there are better alternatives, so I won't stick to something inferior.
So I said to my self "Looks Interesting", but that's not even close to the new Fingertouch PRO that I'm currently using.
So why should you use that, when FingertouchPRO is the best keyboard available?
You can use FTPRO in English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian or even Greek, and you can also define your own languages. For all these, it also supports an innovative fT9 technology, that makes possible typing with only 1 finger!
Not to mention the other tons of settings and features. I've added the CAB here, for direct download, but better check the webpage at www.fingertouchpro.com
Cheers!
This is getting ridiculous. Fingertouchpro is a good keyboard (even though far from best IMHO) but you don't need to bash touchpal like that they owe you a million dollars.
It looks very fishy to me. If your keyboard is as good as you claimed, make a thread in the development and hacking section and ask people to test it out!

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll do that. I hope you'll be among the first to comment on it.
This looks like a must have for me:
Sony Ericsson LiveView
Being a Sony product, though, I'm sure it will be way overpriced.
Has anybody heard pricing and availability information for those of us in the USA?
Edit:
This thing is a waste of money (around $100 imported from the UK) until they update the device and/or software to stay connected or get more than a few hours of battery life. You can't even use it as a watch with it disconnected from your phone. POINTLESS Sony garbage.
I'll learn my lesson one day.
Hello!
I've been keeping an eye out on this too
here is some info on price and the app itself:
http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/11/08/sony-ericsson-liveview-app-hits-the-android-market/
The display is due to be released in the next fortnight with Play.com listing it for £49.99 for release on 19th November.

Not too far away And £49.99 isn't too bad...
I ordered mine today! They're not available in the US nor are they planned for release here so I had to order online from a company in the UK.
After international air shipping it came out to $109 US dollars and the company said they will start shipping this Friday the 12th!
Should have it sometime next week so I'll came back here and give a review after it arrives.
I just ordered mine, too. Looks cool...

I see your in FL. I'm in Seattle, WA so you'll probably receive yours before I get mine, not fair! lol.
I like the idea of this LiveView thing, I think it is going to be great for me at work because my job doesn't allow cell phones to be used on the production floor for security reasons. Me being in Maintenance, I'm allowed to carry my phone, I just cannot pull it out of my pocket while I'm on the floor unless its for work related reasons. So with this I can still keep tabs on my messages, social network updates, and incoming caller ID.
I'm just hoping it is somewhat rugged and water resistant. I'd be pissed if I destroy it while I'm working on a machine (I plan to wear it as a wrist watch).

I work production maintenance in a pen factory. This thing seems perfect for me, too. They aren't as strict about having your phone out, but the convenience seems awesome. Depending what equipment I'm working on, I'll just take it off for working on the machines. Maybe I will do some kind of "pocket watch" type thing with a lanyard. We'll see after I get mine BEFORE you! hahaha
What kind equipment do you work on?

Nice! We both work in the same industry doing pretty much the same jobs lol.
I work for a check printing company, so for security reasons we can have cell phones on the production floor because of all the visible bank account numbers, especially ones with camera.
I work in the maintenance department, I fix all the production equipment (digital printing presses, auto boxing/packaging machines, cutters, large stitching and binding equipment, etc). Being maintenance, I'm allowed to carry a phone due to the fact I sometimes need to call for support/ideas from another facility or corporate tech support.
I like your idea of using it as a pocket watch, that's not a bad idea. I'd hate to get grease and oil on it as a wrist watch and/or scratch/crack the screen while my arms are in a machine.
yes please share your experiences when you get the device!

Found the User Guide online.

Nice find! I just finished reading through it. Man I can't wait for this thing to arrive. I know it has its limitations, I'm not expecting a full featured superphone on my wrist, but I have I hopes for this device!
I'll update back here when I receive my shipping confirmation.
edit: One thing I noticed from reading the users guide, about how it shuts the screen off after a short time. Ok, I understand the reasoning to save power. But, will there be an option to keep the screen on in clock mod? i.e. screen is always on and showing the time, like a digital watch, and then you press a button to access everything else. I guess we'll have to wait and see, maybe possible with a plug-in or modding.
WOW! I feel like I just had a conversation with a wall! Checked this out, this is the chat transcript from the conversation I just had with a Sony Ericsson chat support specialist, I was trying to find out how to download the SDK for the LiveView. LOL
Please wait while we find an agent to assist you...
You are currently in position number 1 in the queue.
You have now been connected to an agent.
Aimee watson: Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Chat Support. My name is Aimee, how can I help you today?
Daniel: Hello Aimee
Daniel: I'm trying to find the SDK for the new LiveView accessory for Android
Aimee watson: Hi Daniel, I just read your question regarding the LiveView accessory.
Aimee watson: You can download the SDK from the Android Market.
Aimee watson: You will need to do a search for 'LiveView TM'.
Daniel: the SDK (Software Development Kit) should not be in the Android Market as it will need to be installed on a desktop PC to write software/plugins for the LiveView... desktop PC's cannot download stuff in the Android Market
Aimee watson: There is also another application you can download from there called Liveware to add compatible applications to the accessory.
Aimee watson: In the UK, it is not possible to do this on a PC.
Aimee watson: It is only possible to do this on the handset itself.
Aimee watson: Which is by using applications available in the Android Market.
Daniel: ok. so developers can write to apps for the LiveView directly from the Android Phone itself?
Daniel: thats a new concept i'm not familiar with
Aimee watson: If developers are wishing to create an application to use with the LiveView accessory, it would need to be uploading within the Android Market.
Aimee watson: You can then use Liveware to load this to the accessory.
Daniel: yes, but I am a developer wishing to write software FOR the liveview, how would I do this?
Aimee watson: You would need to contact the developers team.
Aimee watson: Would you like an Email address for them?
Daniel: I would need an SDK that contains the core API's that the LiveView uses. Sony Ericsson is suppose to be releasing this SDK for developers and I have not been able to locate it. Yes that would be great
Aimee watson: Here you go: [email protected]
Aimee watson: If you drop them an email, they should be able to help you further with this.
Daniel: perfect, thanks for your help
Aimee watson: No problem. I hope you get that sorted.
Aimee watson: Is there anything else I can help with at all?
Daniel: Nope that will be all.
Looks like you can push "any key" to show the display. That shouldn't be too much of a problem in my situation. I wonder if that includes the soft directional buttons surrounding the screen?
Like you said, it is hard to tell how the experience will be until we get our hands on one for ourselves. I'm hoping for mine to be shipped today, too. But it might ship Monday. I usually get stuff in about 5 days from the UK.
You may want to get in touch with Paul @ MoDaCo in regards to development. I hear he's already looking into making some apps for the LiveView.
Mine just shipped via Royal Mail. Waiting for updated tracking information!

Yeah, I've never really worn a watch much. But I'm a sucker for gadgets. I remember back in the day, late 90's or early 2k I had this pager/sms watch. It was awsome tech for the time lol.
I can't wait. Just ordered mine. I'm actually really curious to see what plug-ins developers will come out with.
yea the only reason why i never wore a watch was because i had the habit of looking at my phone (even if i had a watch on)
So hopefully, since this liveview thing doubles as a notifier and the lot, i would start wearing a watch
LOL, I just had the thought of people cheating in exams with these!
Hi,
so today I reflashed my HTC 7 Mozart with an unbranded ROM and went to redownload all my apps. I doing so, I noticed that the game I paid for (Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst) is gone from the marketplace, nowhere to be found.
Just a heads up: if you own this game and want to keep it, don't reset your phone now
damn, i uninstalled it a week ago to try another rom and reinstall, is there any place were it can be downloaded?
according to this newspost, people who bought the game less than 60 days ago will get a refund:
http://wmpoweruser.com/crackdown-2-project-sunburst-removed-from-marketplace-may-stop-working-soon/
well, that's good luck for me, as I bought it 57 days ago... but it surely sucks, that they removed it. :/
Even if you have the game you cant play it now! it says the server cannot connect.
They should refund everyone if this is the case. I am not happy! I had no problems with the game and now I am out of pocket.
Yes, I feel sorry for everyone who has bought it more than 60 days ago. But if that's how the developer deals with bugs, I know whom to avoid now.
EDIT: I don't see why they can' put out a "final update" that does not need to connect to the servers...
Who is the actual developer for this game? I want to know who to file a formal complaint against.
the trial was working very good for me
i dont know what problems people had
i liked the game very much, the idea, the concept,
i was amazed when i noticed i was able to shoot the weapons myself
i really would like to know why its gone.
my bet is that not enough people brought it
and over time server cost became to high to keep it up.
i think its very sad.
maybe they should have code android and iphone versions too
i mean if its about the server cost.
i hope it wasnt micosoft, bing or us military who pulled of market.

Sadly, it's Microsoft Game Studios, apparently.

They won't update it, because it's not making enough money to be worth the effort..
Anyway;
Just realised Project Sunburst no longer works? Want your money back?
As of late July, Project Sunburst was removed from the WP7 Marketplace and the game seized to function (the game requires server connectivity to play)
Sources from some news websites stated that Microsoft made a statement saying those who purchased the game recently (within the past 60 days) could get a reimbursment.
I think that's wrong, i've paid for a game that can no longer function and that I cannot play.
So I tried to figure a way to get a reimbursement of my money (as I purchased the game in Dec 2010)
I couldn't get an ANSWER on the forums or from the XBL support team, so I searched the internet looking for a number for Windows Phone support (and damn, was it hard to find one for the UK)
I eventually found one 020 345 05855 (UK London based number)
After making it through the robots I eventually got to someone who helped me, he said at first that I have the game, I don't need a reimbursement, but then I stated that the game requires server connectivity to be playable and he reimbursed the money I spent purchasing the game.
Hi folks.
We are organising a little Android get together in the UK in March of next year. The event is aimed squarely at Android users, and we 'think' it's the only event of it's kind in the UK. It won't be anywhere near as big and fantastic as the Big Android BBQ state side, but we hope it will at least be as much fun.
We have folk coming from the Three UK media team, Tom Mleko the big cheese from Hyperbees, Tha Phlash the incredible icon designer is coming over from Canada, and HTC have stated they will get involved in some form.
The event will take place on Saturday 9th of March at the MadLab in Manchester running from mid-day to 5-6 O'clock with some snacks and drinks. Although we will be having speakers, and possibly workshop/Q & A sessions, the main focus is getting to know the wider Android community. A large number of Android blogging sites have all given their supprt, as have Clove Technology. With a little luck we will have some goodies to give away on the day as well.
If you are interested you can find out more on the website http://www.marchofthedroids.co.uk/, or comment here and I will try and answer any questions you might have.
Even better is if you can offer support/sponsorship in way as every little help is greatly appreciated.

I want to give a big thank you to everybody! From the amazing devs to the friendly and intelligent members of this Forum, you have all made my time here with my Gear 2 Neo exciting and fun! Especially since Android Wear became more than a hopeless concept idea, to being a damn near perfect and successful project. I still can't believe you were able to make this happen! (I'm looking at you @biktor_gj ) You're a genius and deserve everything that comes your way. I am more than grateful to you for putting your hard work and time into this and not only making it a possibility, but made it into a successful port. I'm truly amazed. Right as I found myself using my Gear 2 less and less, you brung it back to life and made it easily one of the best, if not, THE BEST, Smartwatch on the market currently. Someone mentioned recently that you are the Cyanonogen Mod of Tizen. I couldn't have said it any better. Your ability to make that happen tells me you have a promising future ahead of you in the growing Smartwatch industry. Keep on keeping on my friend!
Ok.... So speaking of how great a dev you are and your promising future.....
I made a decision today that I hope I won't regret. I sold my Gear 2 Neo on Craig's list. I was able to get $220 for it with it being a year old! Wanna know why? Because of your intelligence, dedication, and hard work you put in to putting a successful Android Wear to it! I had so many hits on it because of this reason alone! So thank you again. I've been spreading your name and directing people here to see for themselves.
So, no I'm not currently watchless. I would never do such a thing! I have been eyeing the Samsung Gear S for quite a while now but ever since I was able to install a stable build of your Android Wear on my Neo, I never pulled the trigger. Just couldn't bring myself to do it............ Until yesterday. I was able to score a deal of the century that I just couldn't refuse on the Gear S. I bit the bullet and purchased it in HIGH hopes that you may do this yourself in the near future and bring your genius dev abilities to the Gear S and can build a Android Wear for it as well! It's an amazing smartwatch all around with the exception of not having Android Wear (at least that I'm aware of) on it. So please please make this happen. Lol. If you're curious of the deal I got and might even wanna jump yourself ( he has quite a few left at this price btw), here it goes:
EBay listing:
Brand New Galaxy Gear S in White
GSM Unlocked
Limited time offer of $219.99
Buy it Now or Best Offer
Free Shipping with express fed ex shipping
I shot them an off of $200 with my fingers crossed and hitting f5 100 times and Bam! Offer accepted!
(I can post a screenie as proof.)
So I made $20 in the process of selling my Neo and getting the S.
If you or anyone else is interested, feel free to PM me and I'll send you the listing link.
So thank you all again. You're all awesome and i would have never been able to enjoy my Neo as much as i did without you! I'm not leaving this Sub so I won't say Farewell. I love to see the progress that goes on and love helping just as much as I can.
