[Q] Apps that require root - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I just soft-rooted my phone i'd like to know some more about apps that require root. What are the recommendations and is there an app thats lets you download paid apps from the market without paying for it? I'm not legally old enough to get a creditcard...
Apps i have so far:
setCPU & Titanium Backup

[Q] Free Apps on Motorola Atrix

Does any one know if rooting will let me get free apps? I tried downloading a paid app on 4shared but it didn't work because at&t phones don't allow that. So do you guys know if i root my phone I'll be able to download paid apps
I'm not 100% sure, but u might need to enable side loading for that (after rooting). U can then get most non-market apps.

[Q] Backing up apps?

When installing a custom rom the recommendation usually includes backing up apps.
However are my apps not on my android market place and if so could I not simply re-install my market place apps rather than going through the back up process?

apps can be found in the market , its the data you don't want to loose try titanium it works well
when I did a factory reset on my phone, all the apps I had purchased in the market remained purchased and ready to install. Titanium is pretty well recommended wherever you search if youre worried about losing anything though.
There's an app on the market called "App List Backup" that will show all the apps you backed up before and it simply takes you to the individual app market link when you are restoring. I like it. Titanium has all kinds of whiz-bang features, but restoring apps does not always have the desired endgame when using newer ROMs.
Titanium is my recommendation. The data backing up is the part I like. You can also freeze the bloatware that comes on your phone.

Titanium is your best choice which can backup your apps and data at same time.

Titanium is the best, I used it and its great I even bought the full version well worth the money.
Titanium is your best choice w.

Dumb Question....sensation on tmous S-Off, CWM, Rooted

So is flashing a custom-rom the only way to get rid of the bloatware? or am I missing something now that I have S-off, CWM & root access...
I don't mind sense, but I do want to get rid of:
Qik
Stocks
Nova
Telenav
etc.....
use titanium backup pro to uninstall what you like. You can also freeze apps whixh is just as good as you can unfreeze the app if you for some reason want to use the apps
ooooooo so that's why titanium back up is so important....
guess I need to spring for the pro version.....
as the free version won't let me 'freeze' apps.... just delete...
looks like I have more reading ahead of me on TB.....
when temp root was achieved all i did was use TB to freeze all the apps i did not want such as stocks, vodafone store, ect ect, its stops them from running at boot but also removes them from your app draw... when you un-freeze the app becomes fully useable and the app shortcut comes back into the app draw. Its totally worth the few pennies!
lol...I killed the bloat apps using the free version, it removed them from the drawer too. Just in case I do something stupid, I d/l the o.e.m rom from another thread on here...lol can't be too safe.

Freeze user apps without root access?

I know there are ways to freeze system apps so-called bloatwares when root is gained (or even with Galaxy Mega non-rooted some system (aka stock) apps can be disabled/frozen. My question is, I want to disable a few of the apps I installed (like WhatsApp, Opera browser etc.) without rooting. Is it possible?
Well, I kind of found the answer to my question. There are two apps: One is called Hibernate in app store and the other Greenify (I don't care if the 'bigA' thinks they have patented the word 'app store'!!!, I call it so...)
Now I was looking for a kind of solution like freezing that's amazingly available in Link2SD or Titanium Backup Pro. But to my surprise, these 2 are fulfilling my needs until I root my phone.
I'm not sure which one is better though... After tinkering with both of them, I like the UI of Greenify but functionality of Hibernate is really good. Don't know what's their difference though! ?

A good idea to improve Android speed without root?

Would it be a good idea to freeze apps that you don't use so your Android system can run faster?
There are apps that I don't want to uninstall but I don't use them all the time. It would be cool if Android had a built in feature to freeze the apps so they don't startup, create services, use RAM, etc. Then, when I actually need to use them, then I can thaw them out and use them.
Examples of such apps are travel apps that I use when traveling, like the Disney app, Universal Orlando app, hotel apps, travel shopping portal apps, etc. I don't use them all the time, but it's annoying to uninstall and then reinstall and re-login.
It would be easier to just freeze them when not in use and thaw them when I need them.
I know this can easily be done with root, but those of us on Verizon mostly don't have root because Verizon sucks.
