[APP] DroidSeries - TV Series/TV Shows browser and tracker application for Android

DroidSeries is a TV Series/TV Shows browser and tracker application for Android. Tacking down TV series, episodes, air dates, etc, is a difficult task as there are so many TV series. DroidSeries will help you manage your favorite TV Series and keep track of the episodes that you have or have not seen.
I created this application and just released the first version. Suggestions that help improve the app are also welcome and appreciated!
It's most probable that you will find a bug, so sorry in advance and keep those bug reports coming!

Thanks, will give this a shot as MyEpisodes Viewer no longer works.
Don't know if this is possible and it might be a bit cheeky.. but would it be possible to import the database from MyEpisodes? ;-) I've spent quite some time going through all of the shows i've watched on there, it would be good if I could skip doing it again!

*Couple of Serie/series typos?
*I would prefer it if the specials were not included in the 'Episodes not watched' calculation. Many of them are silly little clips which don't even air everywhere in the world. Also it includes them in the number of Seasons, which gives the incorrect number for most shows.
*Some form of simple backup/online sync is a MUST
*Shows without a thumbnail appear to be selecting thumbnails from other shows at random
*Following on from that, an option to manually add a thumbnail?
The layout with thumbnails look superb and it all moves very fast

I will take a look at that, if it is possible I'll make it happen.

I really like this I think it will help me keep track of all the shows I like to watch and make sure I dont forget about them while waiting for the next season to start. I agree with the typo fixes and possibly an option to remove specials. Something not mentioned though which is not a big deal but would be real nice, add an option to select all episodes as watched in a season to speed things up a bit.

Aside from the few typos, this is a pretty nifty app! I see potential in it.

It's already possible to mark all episodes of a seasons as watched. There is a context menu in that window. If you long press a season, the option will appear.

Like I said You before it looks very interesting this app, let me see if I have some time to try it today.

Yea I didn't spot this at first either. Actually enabled me to add most of my shows very quickly

First off, as an avid Television watcher I want to thank you for making such an application. I often forget which shows are on which nights and at what times.
This application is a great start and really has a lot of potential to be much bigger.
A few suggestions if I may,
1) Notifications when the show is going to air, or something letting you know that the show is going to be airing that day.
2) I know someone already mentioned this, but a backup of all the shows that have already been inputted. I have over 40 shows I like to keep up with and to input them all over again would be a pain.
3) Perhaps an option to get the show synopsis for each episode.
Can't think of anymore as of right now, but when I do, I will let you know.

I really like the look of this
At the moment I use tvjunkie and it is an excellent app, but I like the addition of colour thumbnails on your app.
I have just installed it and had added about 5 tv shows and was searching for a 6th and got repeated FC's for some reason
Another thing is when I tried to update all series, it tells me I have no internet connection even though I have full wifi signal. Then I do them individually and it works??
Finally, I added a tv show my wife just started watching called Haven
It has aired 2 episodes so far, but even after updating, it tells me I have 8 not watched and next epsiode is 1x01 on 9th July 2010, whereas the next one will be 1x03 on the 23rd July?
As a matter of interest, or maybe you don't want to say.... just curious where you are pulling the feeds from. I checked epguides and it gives correct air dates for Haven, whereas IMDB TV seems a bit jumbled for this tv show and would explain the errors?

Great little app, I have started up some google issues with some typo's..
I do have one comment, not sure if I want to mark what I have seen unseen via the app, I already have mediabrowser to do this via my MCE.. More interested in when the show is going to air next etc.. Anyway to bypass the having to mark a show as "watched"?

Found a bug:
* it sometimes FC when adding a show. Not always though but it FC just after pressing the add sign and i think i just see the popup for retrieving the show informations for a fraction of a second before that.
Some wishes:
* i added bleach, it has so many seasons that i wished there was a "Mark all season up to this one as seen" button
* some sort of rating / comment / integration with a forum would be nice. So far you can only see the show description. Or something like amazon: people watching this show also watch XXX. I think this would be great to have in the future.
* a better highlight of the unseen already aired shows (vs. unseen not aired yet), so for example i could just open this app and figure out what shows just aired that i should see next
* related to above, you could also split the main show list into "Just aired": the shows that you can see now, "Coming next": shows that will air in order of air date, and perhaps "On Hold": shows that are between seasons and will air like next year / a few months (can make this time lapse configurable)
* related to above, why not a widget that displays that (i am not a big fan of widgets in general but it could be useful)
* a timeline view
* option to ignore unseen specials

I would like to give you some suggestions. If I were you I would do these.
If you compare your app with others, they are similar in view aspect. Since screen is not that large for everyone, the word "presentation" for ex. wouldn't fit the box and square boxes appear nice too instead of rectangle. Something like iphone calendar ( I appreciate what is good in ios or android)
To solve the space issue, you could put color codes or words and make them customized.
PPl can assign red to school, brown to office....
When you click them, a window pops up and shows the complete schedule
Note I have exaggerated things on images, not all boxes should have too many colors, by using square you can use the extra space down there for quick note or whatever you like. Didnt have time to make eeach box different
Again Im sure you can find better ideas, You can sell more if show something extra

Wow thanks for your suggestions. The color coding for the events you mention are just different calendars right? I for example have a Google Calendar for school, one for work, one private and so one. Each with a different color. Color coding of individual events would take some time to do manually.
You mention a window popping up when you click on one of the square day fields. What about making the lower part of the screen a scroll view with events of the day you have pressed? Then if you press on the square again you go to day view, but this way you can more quickly see the events for the day without loading a new view.

No problem at all.
You can for ex say you just wanna see work schedule, so instead of general window, u see a new one with let say brown color and only work related. new window for school and so on.
If you wanna see everything then you can have a general window that shows everything together.
Cuz it's hard to fit all the words inside the box (like in my first image) you can use colors or words or any other shapes you prefer.
Yes that's better idea use the extra space for scroll i like that may be more buttons, shortcuts, it has so many potentials. This way you keep it really clean, easy to access and havent seen anyone doing it

Make copy and paste of events possible and easily done from one date to another. Please see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2618 for a list of people who are angry this isn't already implemented. This is a pain if the event does not regularly reoccur thus has to be entered over and over by the user or the user has to go to a desktop or notebook to fix it from the web client. My Razor did this so it is just weird it can't be done on stock Android.

Thanks. That is a great idea. I think my next larger feature is custom add/edit event windows. Right now I use the ones from your default calendar.
With my own customer views for adding and editing events the possibilities are endless. Of course copy and paste will be a simple thing to implement. Then there are the ability to make more advanced recurrence rules, easier selection of dates (on a month like view), and much more.

Yeah! A useful month view!!!!
IMO, the month view is the winning feature. I can actually see is going on! What this isn't stock if beyond me. Thank you for, well, using your brain.

I wouldn't waste time implementing this in the app. I don't know about other countries, but there is a Google calendar for the US. I just subscribe to it.

I am curious to see what you have in mind, but, IMO, these could wait. I currently use Android Agenda Widget, because it integrates with Astrid.
Anyways, I think you are off to a great start. I look forward to see what you cook up.

I most definitely agree with @weareallkosh that national holidays are not worth investing your time (at least not at this point, there are many higher-priority issues to deal with in the stock calendar app).
Since even Google couldn't implement holidays right in their calendars you can subscribe to (and they declined to answer why), I think your time is best spent elsewhere. So many people were complaining about the defects in Google's "US Holidays" calendar, most particularly that it does not extend far enough into the future that I created one from scratch that incorporated "recurring formulas" for all future dates, and I generated and merged in all "irregularly repeating" holidays, such as Easter, and "nudging" dates such as "Tax Returns Due" to the following Monday when April 15 falls on a weekend day, etc.
Since anyone can subscribe to this (or any other nationality/ethnicity/belief-based) calendar, there's little incentive for you to duplicate the effort. Also, particularly if you wish to support multiple nationalities, cultures, contemporary versus traditional versus orthodox religion variants, and so on, you can quickly get bogged down in endless debates over which dates ought to be included in which calendars, as well as having to investigate frequent reports of "your calendar shows X falling on Y date, but that's wrong", many of which are inaccurate. Just sucks your time away from more urgent issues.

Cant wait to test this app. Will the calendar have a bi-weekly event capability?

Thanks guys. I will put national holidays way in the back. Your solution is much better tgi007, and hopefully someone will make something like it for other languages and traditions.
From the input I have received I have decided that the next feature is custom add/edit event views. This will make copy/paste of events, advanced recurrence rules, and intuitive date selection possible.

With the next feature implemented I will look into the best way to specify advanced recurrence rules. I have read the specification for the recurrence rules and biweekly is possible in the standard together with many more features.
The hard part will be how to specify these rules because the standard is really flexible. But I think some templates to select from is the way to go. Like the stock calendar, just with more options of course. AND the possibility to specify an end date to the recurrence or the number of recurrences.
But maybe I find a great way to specify it without making it too hard to understand.

Nice app.
First off, great app, been using it for a while on my Transformer and its by far superior to the stock Facebook app. Its gotten even better since the upgrade a few days back.
The only issues I've found so far are:
When I try to lauch the app by touching a notification it force closes. I can view the notifications by launching the app and navigating to the notifications tab, but touching the shortcut in the HC notification tray causes a FC.
Once when I launched the app it won't load any of my Facebook data. Forcing a refresh didn't help either. I removed my FB account and re-added it and this seemed to fix it. Haven't had the issue since, so it might have been a one off glitch.
I'm running Prime 1.4 with a Clemsyn kernel on an Asus TF101. Once again, great app, hope you keep developing it!

It is Honeycomb only.
Some issues:
- In reading an article, only 20 or so of the latest comments could be seen. If, say, there's a topic with more than fifty comments, just half of those are available.
- Pressing the notification does not take me to the corresponding article or update, only to the app in its most recent state.

Good App, but until there's a chat option, it's useless for me...Maybe you can add also the new videochat...

Every time I comment on or like a post, the news feed goes back to the top. I think it would be better if the news feeds stay put.
You could also put a favorites tab (like favorite friends).

I'm pretty sure it's something that Farmville is blocking. Are you able to play Farmville on the Browser app on the device? I'm not doing anything to block access to games through Friend Me.

I have that working in the 1.3 beta. Should be available this week.

I really love the look of this app. I hope that it'll come in Gingerbread too, though, so I can use it with my Galaxy Tab.

Friend Me is pretty gorgeous - it's very well put-together and is snappy and nice to use.
However, I ran into a few issues:
-- Messaging - it still appears to use the browser-based messaging system. This is really clumsy to use.
-- Newsfeed sometimes does not refresh properly. I was using 1.2 beta 3 and every so often the feed would be empty and not refresh properly. If you went back to the account list, it would then refresh.
-- Repeat notifications. At one point earlier today, Friend Me kept notifying me that there was "new information available", but it wasn't readily obvious what it was notifying me about. I ended up uninstalling just to make the notifications stop.
-- Poke support. Silly, I know, but I've yet to see an app that supports this.
Overall a great app. I'm installing the newly-instated Market version and am really looking forward to seeing more improvements.

Love the app, but one problem with it... farmville. I have a friend and I think he does nothing but play farmville all day. In the browser, I have it blocked so I don't see the spam, but in FriendMe, it's 99% of my news feed. Perfect app otherwise.

I've published Friend Me 1.3.1 to the Android Market which has an in-app purchase option to remove the ad. I've also moved the ad to the news detail fragment and made it a leaderboard style ad.
The in-app upgrade is only $0.99 for a limited time.

Bought it, even that mostly I use my gtablet under vegan rom (froyo), and only sometimes use the HC port, but your work deserve it.

I think it is obviously the most intuitive and convenient way to open a link. When you want to open a link, just click it in the time line . When you are reading your home timeline, the app notified you that you’ve got some new tweets, you click “go-to-top” button to read the newest tweets, and then you want to get back to the previous position to continue your reading. How can you do this? In other twitter clients you have to scroll down all the way to find where you were, a lot of time wasted. But in this app, “go-to-top” button will appear when you scrolling up, click it, you can got to top, read the newest tweets. After that when you scrolling down, Smart Bookmark button will appear at the corner. Click it, you can get back to exactly where you were.
*The fifth unique feature is User Level Notification
Notification for all your new tweets is meaningless, if you following more than a few users, you’ll get new tweets all the time. What if you only want to be notified when someone you most care about posted a new tweet? In this app, it’s easy. You can change your friend’s notification setting directly in his/her profile screen. You can also set different notification ringtone for your friends respectively. So when you heard a notification ringtone, you’ll know who he/she is without the need to open your phone. And you can manage all the enabled User-Level-Notification settings in one place.
*The sixth unique feature is Sleep Time.
It’s not very special but I think it’s important. You probably don’t want to be waked up by any kind of notification noise when you sleep. You can set your sleep time, so you don’t receive any kind of notifications when you sleep.
*The seventh unique feature is Last Position.
This app doesn’t save all your older tweets when you exit. Every time you launch it, the newest tweets show up on the screen. But you can retrieve your position at which you exited last time, and continue your reading, by select ‘Last position’ menu option.
Coolands for Twitter has most of the basic twitter client features, like post/delete tweets, retweet, reply, quote, send/delete direct message, subscribe/unsubscribe lists, follow/unfollow user, multiple account support (up to 3), append picture with your tweets, mention auto complete, recent search auto complete, etc.

I ruled out Tablet,because I don't have tablet, so I can't make a tablet version.

I just received an crash report, from LG GT-540 caused by a NullPointerException, I guess that's because my Entry Activity was killed by System when user went to Browser to authorize the app.
I'm sorry for my user who use 256M RAM phone, I use Samsung Vibrant to test which has 512M RAM, I should get one.

app has crazy potential. won't lie. but it has some few issues. most users won't pick up on the swipe to change screens. at least i think they won't. I could be wrong. There were also a few spelling mistakes in it, but overall was great. With a little polish this could overtake plume as my go to twitter app.

Of course. Swipe all the way to the left and "Favorites" is misspelled. The help screen has some minor stuff. If you want I can rewrite it all, but I'll have to do it after I wake up. When you compose, the hint is missing a space between what's happening, and the twitter user name. I also had a force close but i've been unable to replicate it so it might have just been a one time thing. But the more i play with it, the more I like it. Thank you!

And have you notice the lanscape mode composing screen? You can type in lanscape mode and still see the number of characters, and buttons. I think its very convenient. And I didn't mention it on market description.

What keyword did you use to search? I searched "coolands for twitter", and there it is.
Maybe you just searched "coolands", and its not showed on the first page.

I used the link.....no problems. Also noticed the spelling errors, no big deal. Initially will take some getting use to, but the more I use it, the more I like it.

fixed some crash issue.
fixed some spelling error.
And it's not All-Time Real-Time, if you exit the app, and notification is enabled, it won't notify you in Real-Time.
I could do that, but that would drain your battery heavily.

I tested your app. The performance is great and so is the app. I really love the actors tab.
My suggestions for your app to make it more user-friendly and maybe to add some additional features:
I don't really like the percentage indicators in the shows tab. The progress bar (13/14 seen) in the shows own tab is much better.
The next unwatched episode checkbox should be in the main tab (shows) to quickly mark episodes as seen. Now you have to click on every show and there click the box and go back...
Maybe make the popup of episodes swipeable to go quickly through all episodes (useful when you search for a specific one) and show the season/ episode number in the header.
A combined favorite tab for episodes and actors/actresses. Maybe located in the swipe out menu.
A news tab for "my" shows (not sure if this is possible).
A new shows tab to quickly look for new shows.
I will continue using the app and maybe find more things

Your suggestion with the swipeable seasons/episodes is great, but since the the fragment with the episodes is already swipeable(Actors - Overview - Episodes) I have to think about how to implement it user-friendly.
In one of the next updates, I also try to implement a new tab with popular shows/trending shows to give the user some tv show suggestions. Maybe I add also a new shows tab there, but the API adds many many shows daily and most of them are very unknown.

Myself, I really hate that feature, if possible make it an option that a user can turn it on or off. I know it will have it's own tab, but I would still like to hide it.

Oh, I described it incorrectly, my bad. I would made a new item in the navigation drawer to get to the trending/popular shows.

I Just had a sneak peak after installing 'cause I'm at work, but seems to even find anime ( not sure about less famous ones; but that's not your fault ^^)
I was going to develop a personal site that could help me to track series and anime, but you beat me on time!
It would be great the integration on google account, giving this way the opportunity to sync with other devices instead of relying on export and restore.
I'm gonna test fully this evening on my way home!

It isn't specific to country, its the same in every country.

Thanks for the app, it's very useful. Just a sugesttion, how about making a homescreen widget with information about next episodes of the shows you're watching?
