[Q] Pushing Launcher Pro to system - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I currently have CM 6 installed and it's great. Although I don't like the launcher that comes with it, which is ADW. I have Launcher Pro instead and use that as my default. However I noticed that ADW still has some processes running and I wanted to know if I could push Launcher Pro to the phone and have it be the primary launcher instead of ADW? Would that save some memory on my phone?

[Q] How do you add new home pages on Gingerbread

I've just become the proud owner of a Nexus S. Stock it has 5 home pages, but I know that Android in general will support 7. I can't find an option for updating this on the Nexus S with 2.3.1
Anyone?
It depends on the launcher you're using. If you're using the stock launcher, you'll be limited to 5 home screens. You can download ADW, or Launcher Pro. ADW seems to have more customizations.
Real stock Android 2.3 is 5 homescreens only, you can not change it. HTC Sense UI can do 7.
If you want more, your option is to use a 3rd party launcher like ADW.Launcher
-Nexus S
And if you really like ADW Launcher, try out ADW Launcher EX.. it's even better

TNTLite 4.2.4 Controlling Panel Layout Question

Just purchased my gtablet and installed TNTLite 4.2.4. Everything is running great so far. This may be noob question but when I drop apps on my home screen it only allows 4 across with lots of space between the apps. I can move apps around but it definitely limits how close they can be spaced. Is there a setting to change how many apps can be displayed? I've seen screen shots with apps packed more densely.

Use another launcher like ADW Launcher or Laucher Pro. You can set the number of icon rows/columns with those launchers.

He is exactly right, however I dislike ADW Launcher. I think you should go with Launcher Pro, because it seems to run a little bit smoother and it is easier to use.
I don't add either to the mod as you want to keep them in the user space (it makes upgrading them a lot easier). And also, since we have the Market the user can decide which they prefer to use.
I personally use Launcher Pro, myself. It's simple and it gets the job done.
Thanks. I'll give Launcher Pro a try.

3D Drawer Settings

Hi Guys.
I just rooted my Nexus S and installed CyanogenMod 7 (Stable). Everything is working fine but I have one possibly stupid question to ask.
Before when I had stock Android the app drawer had a 3D effect which is now gone. I have looked through both the Cyanogenmod settings and the ADW Launcher settings and I cant seem to find a way to enable it.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be thankful.
Menu -> Settings -> ADW Launcher -> (I use ADW EX so it might appear different) UI Settings -> Drawer Settings -> App Drawer style
The ADW Launcher in CM7 is different from ADW EX and ADW Free on the market.
also launcher pro has the 3d app drawer effect, and its now working perfect on cyan 7. but to answer your question, cyan 7 comes wtih ADW lanucher, not the stock launcher. so ADW prob has to turn on that setting and it will work...or use launcher pro. or push the stock launcher back to your phone.
Thanks. I downloaded ADW Launcher EX from the Marketplace since that feature wasn't available in the Cyanogenmod version.

How would you go about pushing the stock launcher? As I also am running cm7 but want the stock launcher.
Thanks in advance.

get launcher2.apk and put it in /data/app or /system/app/ via adb / file manager
or find frank707's mod that removes adw and puts stock launcher, but you lose a lot of customization

[Q] Installing another launcher

i just installed Apex launcher. I don't know how does this launcher thingy work on my phone... i know it's sort of like a app that changes my "home screen". but what happened to my original launcher? is it still running in the background? will choosing default as apex launcher kill the original launcher that comes with the phone? if not, wouldn't it take a lot more ram and kill the battery since there are 2 launcher running at the same time? sorry it might be a dumb question, i'm still new to android...

Does Nova Launcher Actually Replace the Stock Launcher?

I've been wondering this for a while now. Basically, does Nova Launcher (or any 3rd party launcher) actually replace the stock launcher or does the stock launcher still run in the background with Nova on top of it? Because I can see that Nova usually uses up around 200-300MB of RAM which is considerable IMO. If it's running on top of the stock launcher instead of replacing it then that's a lot of RAM being wasted (I'm presuming the stock launcher also takes up a fair amount of ram). Is this true?
stock launcher just wont run unless your're using it
