Hi
I've had a good search through the forums, but couldn't find anything to do what I need.
I'm looking for a way to re-map the "Home" soft key on the TG01 to run an app (for example TaskFacade). I'm aware of AE Button Plus but that only seems to be for hardware buttons, and also I think $8 is a little steep for what it does. So is there another app that can remap the soft key? I'd settle for a registry hack, but I'd like one that doesn't go away after a soft reset.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

It is very limited, only 4 buttons. You can not remap with it roller buttons - up, down, left, right and middle.
You can use Vito ButtonMapper

or
AE Button+

Sorry, I saw to late that you want to map the buttons through registry. I will dig into the registry to find the keys
I've got an XDA Ignito (Touch Diamond), and it only shows one button (voice speed dial) in the buttons app.
When looking in the registry there is only the key: 40C6, which is the Voice Speed dial, but no other keys.
Is it possible to add a key, and map it to a hardware button, maybe the ones above the phone keys, without using other software like AE Button +?
I have already tried with the keys 40C1-10 and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any replies!
Edit: sorry I just noticed this is in the Polaris forum (was searching for mapping buttons and didnt notice!)
Hi,
I appreciate these two programs,
but I can not activate the volume control in S2U2 and change the function of the volume least in AE Button, it does not work anymore
I have a problem to remap volume button with AE button
Do you have a solution?
Thank you
HTC Touch diamond
Work around
This isn't a very good work around, but I've found that if you open the S2U2 settings and tell it not to use the volume control and not to use the keyboard hook. Then save your changes. AE Button will work for a little while.
When it stops working again, just open S2U2 settings and save.
I haven't noticed what it is that breaks it, but it is extremely annoying to have to keep fixing it all day long.
Anyone out there have some insight onto what is going on so that we can create a better work around or fix?
Alternatively, does anyone know of any other keyboard remapping programs that might be compatible with S2U2?
I am looking to remap the <- key to be the "OK" button in WM. I don't use this key, and for the life of me can't think of a reason to, so it seems more intuitive to have it be the TPs "missing" button. TIA

Well, I'll start by saying there are several posts about the remap of buttons on xda. You should try searching first.
Anyhow, try AEBPlus and find those other posts which explain in detail how to remap (mostly the PTT button).. Good luck
tried searching but most info was for other devices, so I thought I would post here. I will give AEBPlus a shot. Thanks!

Unfortunately it appears (both from searching and from trying) that AE button does not work for the Home and Back keys on the TP.
I'm using it, wish they would update it to support the TP better. However, when mapping a new key, you have to hold the button down. this will show u the key code for that key, but it is only for long press. So this may be a partial fix. Otherwise, I'm not sure how to map the main function of that button. Maybe it's like the PTT and their is a file that is assigned to that key like the PTT_short.lnk ? Anyway good luck...hopefully someone will map these keys out or AEBPlus will update since the last update was in May 08...
What exactly are you trying to accomplish by mapping the back key to be "ok"? It essentially functions the same way, closing whatever window you're in and taking you ot the prior one.
I am looking for the ok/close feature I had on my i730. Using the back button allows the app I am leaving to continue to run instead of closing the program.

Why don't you just map the PTT to close? I presume you know how to remap the PTT button and here is a way to map it to 'close': http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1249
I have no PTT button

I know this topic has been covered - but that's the thing...it hasn't, that I can find. I see a dozen searches for this, all with responses saying "Try Vito ButtonMapper!" or "Try AE Button Plus!" Well, I've tried both.
AE Button creates a delay in any key I try to remap, so that the internet key (remapped to the Scroll Right button, since my normal Scroll Right button is ... broken) has a three-second delay after I push it until the button registers being pressed. So, AE Button is a no-go.
VITO is working much better, albeit it is far less functional in terms of those keys that can be remapped. But that's not my concern for my current issue. I'm using it right now, and it's screwing up my softkeys royally (and yes, I do know how to use the program properly, and so it's not just my ignorance to the different configurations).
So, can someone just give me a yes or no, without beating around the bush, on whether there is a direct registry key that can remap one button onto another? And, if there is, would anyone have any idea where I can find a list of keys corresponding to their respective registry values?
Thanksssssssssssssssssssss.
One of the buttons on my 8125 keyboard is bad, the "." button. How can I remap "." to another button? Is there a registry edit? I have searched the forum but only find info on soft buttons.
Thanks!
i think its dll + registry file not registry only
Bump! Anyone have any info? I figured remapping a keyboard button would be real simple?
Nothing, eh?
Its ok, I solved my problem.
Bought an iPhone.

It is kinda hard to figure out, but it will do what you need.
