[Q] Stop D107 Update? - Epic 4G Android Development

My phone is working fine and I don't want the D107 update until the kinks are worked out. Every 15 minutes my phone prompts me to update. Is there a way to permanently suppress these messages until I want to update?
Thanks

OTA 4.0 update not working, WIND

So, I got the message for the ICS update on my phone, my carrier is WIND. It downloads it, around 130-160 mb, then says your system is up to date and it requires a restart. I reboot the phone, nothing happens. How do I get it to work!

Are you rooted? If so what modifications have you done?
Have you uninstalled any of the stock bloatware, even if it was uninstallable without root? The update requires all bloatware to be installed.

Seriously people, search before you post!! We have covered this at least 10 times!Anyways, If you have deleted any of the AT&T bloatware the update will fail. It is STRONGLY recommend that you flash the fkz's to get back to stock before you apply the update, especially if you have rooted and performed any mods. Just be sure to re-root and apply the 4ever root mod to keep root over the OTA.
Or just wait for lfaber to make something awesome with it!
Thanks, I just now stumbled on the other thread's also saying the same thing my bad. And also another question why is the bloatware so important?

It's not that it's important... it's that the update file is filled with a bunch of patches, some of which are for the bloatware, and so if the bloatware isn't there the patches don't install and the update won't begin (it checks everything at first.)
Oh ok thanks
It's not working for me too . I removed alot of the bloatware yes any solution beside restoring fxz ?

Sadly not...
you can just wait for custom ROMs to be based off of 2.3.6 and flash them... this update really isn't very major.
How can I tell if it's even trying to update. I manually started the update about 4 hours ago, but it doesn't look like anything is downloading. When I click on system update again, it says an update is currently being downloaded, but according to 3G watchdog, my wi-fi usage isn't changing. If I turn off wi-fi, it says the download will resume when wi-fi is back on, but the percentage is at 0%, and when I turn wi-fi back on, it stays at 0%.
If it's going to error out, does it not say something? I'm not getting any indication that it failed. Is there not a progress bar in notifications or anything? At first, I figured the server was just busy, but after 4 hours, something should have downloaded by now, right?

A reboot can't hurt.
Ok i had issues upgrading to 2.3.6 tonight.. I realized i had stupidly uninstalled YahooContacts.apk and FMRadioService.apk... As we know Titanium can't restore these. However what I did do was this:
open /cache/recover/last_log in a text viewer
scroll to the bottom, it will tell you what is causing the installer to fail.
Mine i could clearly see it couldn't find FMRadioService.apk I took the .gz file from the titanium backup directory, un-gzipped it, renamed the .apk to FMRadioService.apk and placed it in /system/app I then re-tried the update, it failed again, repeated with YahooContacts.apk
and viola... all was well..
-t
I tried that. The progress bar that was stuck at 0% went away after reboot, but it's still not downloading anything, as far as I can tell. That's why I was wondering if there is any kind of progress bar normally.
I'm thinking that, since I'm at work, our wi-fi is blocking it. I can't get it to download over 3G, so I guess I'll wait until the morning, when I'm home.
BTW, if your phone dies ("Battery Low - Cannot program" message) while trying a rollback to 2.3.5 try the following procedure. It's risky but I was able to bring my Atrix 2 to live:

[Q] black screen pops up and goes away

I've had this really weird problem ever since the update for 4.4.4 got downloaded to my phone automatically as soon as it was released for the Verizon moto g. I'll be using my phone like normal and this black screen will pop up for a second as if it is asking me to do something but nothing is there then it will go away. It happens quickly and doesn't do anything but it is very annoying. I'm wondering if it is because I told the update not to install yet and set a reminder for later? Although it isn't time for that reminder to go off yet and this happens about every 5 minutes or so. I haven't installed any new apps or downloaded anything and I even factory reset my phone and the problem remains.
I'm not rooted and my boot loader is still locked. Running stock android 4.4.2 on Verizon xt1028.
Ideas?

It's from the OTA notification service.I have the same issue, coz I'm lazy to disable the update service atm.
To clarify, the problem you get is a quick flash-in/flash-out in black color. Happens quite quick.Right?

Yeah that's exactly what happens! I figured it had to do with the OTA… so how can I stop it from doing that? or should I just update to 4.4.4? Are there any issues?

You can disable it if you have root.In case you do, then go to /system/priv-app/ and find motorolaOTA.apk , change its permissions to 0000 and you`re good :>

[Q] VoLTE OTA update from AT&T - do I need to un-root to be able to install this?

My G3 has 5.0.1 and I have rooted it. Nothing more.
I got notification of the latest update, which had VoLTE, something about Uber (which is already in my bloatware) and something else.
I have only rooted this phone, however while I was searching around on xda to see if anyone else has gone through this update with root, I found a 1-line fix to disable authentication on WiFi tether. I did that, and then some time later I got a pop-up saying my phone is suspected of being rooted, so the update would be disabled. I then reversed the WiFi tether change, and checked for update and it _seems_ like it is ready to do the update.
But, has anyone out there gone through this update while rooted? Did that work and you only had to root again?
Or do I have to un-root?

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Can't finish the update due to being rooted before. Even if you factory reset it will still say you're suspected of rooting.
Here is my thread just in case you want to give it a glance.

Here is the link to unroot back to 10D

I haven't exactly solved this issue yet but I'm working on it >.<
Btw don't use that unroot link just yet. I need to confirm and read around before finding out if it's a viable method for our situation yet.

To be specific about "un-root".
You don't mean that you simply unrooted via SuperSU, do you? I assume you actually restored back to stock KitKat 10d, correct? And then took the OTA update straight to 21l, correct?
(And where can you tell the phone to check for updates again? or did you just wait for it to pop up in the notification area?)
Thanks

I unrooted back to stock kitkat 10d and took the OTA update to 21l.
To check for the OTA update, go to General --> About Phone --> Software Update --> Update now
I did try to update when rooted before restoring back to stock. It failed during installation with a message about suspicion of rooting.

Yup I just had to go through all this as well. Luckily it all went smoothly and my phone is back up to spec and loaded the way I use it daily. Took about 12 hours of deliberate effort though haha. I guess I never really knew how much stuff I had on the phone and how much time goes into editing settings and logging into everything. Anyways UltraSuper you're right. Had to use the link I posted above using LG Flash Tool and go back to kit kat then you can upgrade easily to 21l, LG one click root, use AutoRec to flash TWRP then do your first backup just in case something goes south but it's doubtful. My phone is stable as it was out of the box.
So what does this update offer? Is it worth the hassle of redoing everything?

Did you do a twrp restore after the update? did Xposed work in the new update?
I may do this tonight
Thanks.

To be honest I went through the whole process and I'll probably never use volte. I did it more just to have a clean start. I've been flashing like crazy and things were starting to get buggy. If things are running smooth for you I don't see the value in it unless you're planning on using volte.

VoLTE. That is the only notable thing about the update. A couple of pieces of bloat are in there as well. VoLTE is still new and not available everywhere yet and is only able to be used by a select few models of phones. Read up on it and decide. I personally do not see the need for the hassle atm so will wait until another day.

System update notification. How to get rid of it ?

I run stock rom Emui 4.1 .
Rooted
TWRP 3.0.2-0
Every time it changes from wifi to 4g or any data changes the phone wants to do a system update.
The problem with this is I am pretty happy with 4.1 and not going to 5.
A pop up shows up asking me to update.
Pretty sure that its impossible and would not work even if I wanted to.
May end up going to a custom rom in time, but not right now.
Attached is the notificaiton that pops up.
Any advice on what I can do to get rid of this ?
Thank you,
If you have root, freeze the system update app.
Sent from my FRD-L04 using Tapatalk
Or just turn off notifications for the system update app.

All of the notifications are off for emui updater,
All permissions and data were cleared , it still comes back.
Interesting enough , freezing the app did kill the notification .
Thank you for seeing something I overlooked
