[Req] Any notification/status bar management/modification software? - Nexus One Themes and Apps

With all the software offering indicators, services, shortcuts, etc. pinned to the notification bar, it quickly runs out of room. Many apps default to, or does not allow the removal of icons from the status bar.
Is there such application that allows for some sort of management or modification of the notification bar?
It would be nice to keep certain icons from displaying, or making the bar twice the height, or allow some sort of scrolling.
Anything?
Thanks.

scrolling is already available.

Thanks. Are you talking about lateral scrolling? Will you please point the way?
Cheers.

I think he means scrolling is native, as in you could do it already with what you have.
Maybe check out smart bar, you might find use full

I see. I was looking for enhancements beyond what is stock. I did find Smart Bar, but it does not alter the behavior or capabilties of the status bar--it only adds items to it.
My status bar is crowded as it is, I was looking for something that will modify the behavior of the bar.
Thanks.

download widgetsoid. it is a free app that will let you do it yourself. it takes a little time to figure out, but it does the job.
there is a walk through on the web somewhere. i will try to find it.
yeah, i have done the widget, as well as the widget seting app. its not the same.. i would like the actual mod. but i do appreciate the useless plug to an inferior widget.
If you find a better solution, let me know. I was happy to find widgetsoid. It is not perfect, but it serves a purpose until something better comes along. I have no relation to the dev of the app and I am not plugging it for anyone.
The widget goes in the notification bar and you are able to pick what goes there. My complaint is the icons are low resolution and a lot of the color combos did not work for me. However, I eventually was able to get it to work.
how do you put the widget in the notification bar for widgetoid??

it requires a pita setup, or you can download status bar settings from the market and it does it for you.
the icons are terribly low res...

long press your screen to add a widget
pick the widgetsoid switcher 4*1
select the 4 toggles that you want
go to theme and for "choose bottom color" do custom color and use black
for "choose icon color" use black
go to advanced and check notification, give it a label
check widget invisible
hit apply
That should put the widget in your notification bar.
Another app that will do it is notification toggle. I have not tried it yet, but it is also free.
I'm also looking for this.
Notification Toggle uses way too much space with all of the text and large icons. I want a horizontal bar of icons, not a vertical list of icons + text. Plus a lot of the toggles either don't work or don't do what I would like. Something better is needed.

[REAL FULLSCREEN] Hide the status bar

There is something that i can' t understand:
We know that ICS can't hide the status bar, but we can only hide the symbols and the date/time because in ICS the status bar is integrated in the UI system.apk so if we force close it we have some problems...
This is the question:
Why when I am in youtube and I watch some video in fullscreen it can hide the status bar??
I'm using 3.5.5 youtube version and this is the only APPLICATION that can hide the status bar for see a video.
It's annoiyng because my films are resize at 1024x600 but the statur bar take a lot of pixels in the screen and it crop my films, all video player I've installed can't use a sort of "fullscreen mode" like youtube!!
Can anyone open youtube3.5.5.apk and see how it works the fullscreen code?
This is important because developers can integrate this function in ALL ICS device and we can have video in REAL FULLSCREEN!!
Gmd gesture control is a wonderful app (but you need to have root) which can also hide the status bar. I really recommend it.

Yeah... I wish it was easier tu hide that thing... not like youtube does, though... have you noticed those gray dots left in the upper part of where the icons used to be? Or is it just me?

Transparent Navigation/Status bar?

Asking to see if it is possible for anybody out there to make at least the navigation bar transparent, maybe even the status bar, or have a really light transparent color in case of background image being the same color.. Or even adding an option too outline a different color of the software buttons themselves so that they can be seen on any background color.
By this I mean to have the transparency while browsing the web, and everything else, instead of just to look at my wallpaper which although I like it, makes no sense to me when the transparency goes away once I'm actually using the phone.
It would make things feel as if I really am using a nearly 5 inch screen.
Trying to get this for stock rooted, but I guess it always grows to make it over into other Roms once made for rooted, which is good.
I guess whoever agrees just add to this, or second it at least, and if this is at all possible staying on root, MAYBE someone good will actually do this.
But if not possible at all on stock root,, then I guess simply list a ROM closest to stock which is capable of it.
Why would you want it to be transparent when you are browsing the web? It would look very strange to see the background top and bottom while you are in your browser. I suppose you could do this if you wanted, I would suggest paranoid android and change the system ui, android os, launcher etc colors to transparent for the navigation part. I do not think PA is out yet for nexus 5 but that is the only route that I can think of.
Because I don't think it would look weird at all.. I think it would make me feel like I'm actually using a 5 inch screen.
I wish I could do it myself but I wouldn't even know where to start.
Here is an example of only the navigation bar without the black bar.
But also imagine the software buttons in whatever color and even an outline color so they wouldn't completely disappear with the white background.. Lol although I wouldn't even mind if they did as I already know where they are and never even look at them when using them.

PA only allows transparent navigation bar for the launcher. The status bar can be transparent for any app, though. You could do a transparent status bar with full screen + Pie to achieve the full screen transparency, but that of course gets rid of the nav bar completely.
And, as you mention, AOSPA isn't out yet for N5.

Your first solution with the outlines or whatever creates the same problem of covering up whatever you are doing, making it a frustrating full screen view that still requires scrolling to see the full content behind the nav buttons. Your second solution creates the major problem of accidentally hitting the nav buttons.
As I mentioned above, one solution for you is to go full screen + Pie. AOSPA isn't out, but CM has this feature, and there are apps that, with root, allow you to hide the nav bars and apps that enable Pie.
I use stock rooted and I use Ultimate Dynamic Navbar which allows this. Here is the link to the paid version which allows customization of the navbar such as transparency. The free version might also work for you because, although it is still a full black navbar, at least it hides away when not in use.

with "immersive mode" or whatever google calls it, hopefully apps will update to include this. this will automatically hide both notification and status bars until you do an swipe from the screen's edge.
and possibly, once custom ROMs become more....custom....they will have an always on "immersive mode" so even apps that weren't updated will still work. similar to expanded desktop, but a little easier to navigate around after it is toggled on.

thanks for the heads up. looks like this has pretty much everything i need in a ROM. I dont like the fact that the google dialer isn't there though (search function isn't working) but maybe i can get it on there.
I think having both transparent would look pretty good. You kinda get a sample of how it would be when you swipe to go to Google Now. It looks pretty slick in my opinion.

Immersive mode and transparent navbar are quite the opposite.
Transparent navbar is everywhere where scrolling content is displayed. It could be the default. I wonder if it is hard to achieve. The only web browsers that support is use the built-in webview, which is not great update wise.
Immersive mode is meant to lock the view in a single app. More for games, slideshows etc.
And the list doesn't grow. Is everyone only programming for Samsung, or does Google give the wrong example?

Can someone make a modded material good lock?

It seems like this would be possible.
I would also like to see this app modded for my s7
I think a more stock system ui color is in order, I very much dislike the colors Samsung gives to us to use. I would also like to remove the s finger, change the quick connect icon, and remove the app settings icon, and possibly add the users icon and option so it resembles the stock Marshmallow notification shade and quick toggle dropdown

Black navbar and status bar icons on the home screen?

Hey there! I know It's not a really important thing but just wondering about it.. if you look at the Z5 pictures online and on the box (the white version) you'll see the navigation bar icons (home, back, recents) and the status bar icons are black when the white theme is applied. It's not like that when you actually use the phone. They're normally white. is there an actual way (without a serious modification) to make them like that?
Check the picture:

False advertising. Xperia Home doesn't have that option.
You can make it look like that by using Nova, but stock? No.
Oh wow lol @Syberyon thanks anyway

I've been using Nova forever and I've never seen it have this option. All I've ever seen is either making the status bar transparent or not on the home screen. Where would you find the option to customize it like that? Thanks in advance!

Oh, I see. I'll have to try it on my old phone though since this one doesn't actually have on-screen buttons (if it affects that as well). Seems a bit different and not as flexible as I imagined (I wasn't really going to use it anyway - was just curious). In any case, thanks!
