I downloaded this app and hit the brightness button sliding it all the way to left by accident, now my screen is black and can't see to adjust the settings. How can i remove the app from my phone and start over again? Thanks

I have been using Google Navigation, which is a great app but which is a huge battery hog - particularly with the screen on.
(Lets assume for the moment I dont have a car charger available)
I understand that Google Nav can be used with the screen off, and the voice commands will still work. This helps significantly with the battery life.
At certain points I would like to actually see the map/screen, but in between can leave the screen off and follow voice commands.
Here is my question - currently if I turn off my screen by pressing the side power button, it should keep navigation voice directions active with the screen off (I think...correct?).
But when I press this button to turn it back on, it goes to my lock screen (in my case I use WidgetLocker). From there I would need to manually navigate back to the Navigator App. While driving, going through this series of steps is not ideal.
How can I set things up so that the screen times out or I switch it off with the power button, but that when re-activated it goes straight to the Navigation app screen with no needed intermediate steps?
I am on stock setup - not rooted.
Thanks.

Try disabling Widget locker before entering navigation. See if you get the same results with the stock lock screen.

I use WidgetLocker.
If I turn the screen off using the power button, I still get voice commands.
If I turn the screen on, I get WidgetLocker and unlock it with the simple swipe, then I'm back at the GPS screen as if I'd never left it.
Hmmm that doesnt work for me. Could be because my WidgetLocker screen is covered with email, calendar, etc. So anywhere I try to swipe ends up taking me directly an app or an email, rather than just swiping off the screen...
Is there no way to set up so that for a particular app, lock screen / widget locker just dont activate so the phone goes from standby straight into the app?

You can configure widgetlocker to prevent clicks on those apps you have on the lockscreen

Thanks.
But most of the time I want that click through capability. I dont think I would want it to be off. I was just pointing out that this is the reason a simple swipe from that screen isnt feasible for me in getting straight back to Navigation...
Google Nav will overlay the built-in lock screen, but Widget Locker will show up. If you have a bunch of widgets that allow interaction you can try turning on the back button unlock in settings:
Settings->Buttons & Inputs->Back Button Unlock
You can then set the unlock delay to suit. That way you can unlock while in Nav without using the sliders.
This suggestion worked. Thanks very much for your help.
Thinking about it I guess if I had the space I could also add the Nav icon to WidgetLocker and get to it that way directly as well.
Appreciate everyone's input.

Good morning everyone,
I am looking for a widget or tweak that makes it easy to put the phone to sleep other than having to tap the status bar twice. Something I can put down below to avoid having to mess with the status bar every time I want to shut off the screen. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions! Thanks guys.
Depending on whether your launcher has gestures, you can download Screen Off & Lock.
Screen Off & Lock
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en
I'm using Nova Launcher with a double tap on home screen gesture to both Sleep the phone & Hibernate apps with Greenify.
Greenify
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify
If you are talking about the knock feature, you can just leave an empty shortcut spot anywhere on your screen and double tap that spot.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I just discovered over the weekend that if I hold down the Home button, it not only shuts off my screen, but also locks the phone so that it requires my swipe pattern to access it again.

Thanks. I did it and was given several options to choose as default (Google Search, nothing, Greenify+Lock, etc). I opted for the long press to Greenify option. This is great.
When I turn the screen on to check notifications and i expand a notification: text, facebook message, etc..
Even while my finger is touching the screen the screen turns off. This occurs both in power save mode and with power save mode turned off.
Its quite annoying, especially if i just want to read real quick what an email says.
Anyone else getting this?
Nope. Try doing a hard reset
Tried a second s6 and resetting the device. I get the same thing. I also have the unlock effect turned off.
My phone is also giving me problems on the lockscreen. I don't have an unlock effect either so I'm thinking be the problem. I notice when I turn on any other option my problem goes away. It just darkens my wallpaper to almost black. Did a hard reset as well.
I also noticed a huge lag when i tap a notification and then try to unlock. I'm also unable to double tap a notification on lock screen to open that specific app.
I tried using the buble unlock affect and still get the same problem. turn on screen->expand notification of given app while still holding my finger on the screen, then seconds later screen turns black

I see what you're saying about holding the finger on the screen and it still times out. Is it not like this on other lollipop phones, this is my first go with lollipop so I don't know? ...No lag for me, and I can tap then unlock and I'm in the app asap.

Well maybe its cause i came from an AOSP rom on my Lg g2 but i would think if your finger it touching the screen it should stay on anyways.
I wish i could just double tap the notification and it opens the app versus tapping the notification and then having to swipe to unlock.
the lag when trying to unlock after tapping the notification is a little, its not instant like how it would when tapping on a heads-up notification

I just tried again...If you swipe down on the notification to read it, it should go up to like another screen (not literally) but the notification slides up basically were the clock and weather would be. There it doesn't time out until the screen time out you have set under display is reached, and you can read the other notifications too. What you are doing is pulling down the notification without letting go then it times out. Swipe the notification and let go of the screen.

EDIT: Tap on the left do open Recently Apps. Sorry!
Hi im the user of Samsung Galaxy S3 Korea LTE (E210L) using DA Rom V3 (Note 4 UI).
I just flashed my new rom, so im having this problem.
How to Disable the Tap on the Right of Notification to Lock Screen and on the left to open Recently Apps ?
Hold on the Right also open Phone Options (Power Off / Restart menu)
I tap on the right of the notification bar, and that area is fade on, more Fade-White color than other area, its a small rectangle area. Then, it lock the screen.
I don't know if it has been scripted to my rom or not, i haven't found any app in my phone can do that, even Hidden App.
I have searched Google, with any possible word, haven't found anything.
Tap Notification to Turn Off Screen, Fade, there is something and someway to make it could be added!
Anyone can disable this ? My Power Button haven't broken and i don't want tap to lock screen.
Thank you!
Help me please
I noticed when I swipe down on the recent icon thingy a lock will appear on the top right hand side of it. What is that and what does it do?
Locking an app prevents it to be killed when u tap the trash (close all apps) icon.
Weird I don't have that option it seems convenient xD Did you have to enable it somewhere or was it like that by default?
You only have to tap on the app and pull it down, and the lock icon will appear.

it kepps that app protected without being killed by the battery manager.
its useful sometimes, bt most of the cases its not working well, those app protected may get killed based on remaing RAM

The padlock icon remains absent when using this technique on Nougat 7.1.2. Does anyone have any other suggestions to make the padlock appear on individual apps in the recent tasks screen?
