hey Im trying to delete all the bloatware from my evo but i dont wanna delete files that would my my smartphone lag or not work properly.
if one you pro could give me a list of all the bloatware that is safe to delete i would appreciate.
also i notice that with TI backup i can delete bloatware like nascar but i can only backup data i can't back up the apps, and i cant restore the app.
how can i back up the bloatware apps to be able to restore later on?
thank in advance for you help
ps. htc evo is already rooted.
Strange, using Titanium BU I was able to save those apps and then uninstall them. Haven't tried to reinstall them though.
Oh, and I deleted Nascar, Sprint NFL, Sprint Nav, Sprint TV and it's widget. Gonna use the phone for a week to see what else I don't need.

I don't suppose you'd be willing to elaborate on this?
The process you went through to achieve this, that is.
Thanks

You need root explorer or something. You can look at all of the files, get into the system directories, and delete most of this stuff.
I can't locate Sprint Football or Hotspot to remove them.

What bloatware from this Samsung 4g have you deleted without issues?
I have gone ahead and deleted:
Accounts & Sync
Add to Home
Audio Postcard
Amazon
Kindle
Car Home
gogo
Inception
Y Finance CLock
Slcker
Visual Voicemail
Backup (I think this is the contacts backup thing)?
What else will you remove?
Moved to general as not android development
I can't remember exactly anymore; however, besides the backup and sync apps you listed most of those I can confirm removing and being OK. I didn't remove things I did not know what they did, at least I thought--that's a whole different story with gtalk. Removing gtalk anymore doesn't seem to be so detrimental as it used to be back in the 1.6 days of android; it was, however, super hard to find the apk to reinstall which i found here. I reinstalled gtalk because I wanted to be able to easily chat with my daughter, that is the only reason I found I wanted to install it for.
Sitting on ~100megs internal storage atm with 74aps. I really think a custom rom and partion could get me more open space. Oh, and I only froze the wifi voice calling app. My home wifi isn't a strong enough signal to support it all the time--cheap router I suppose--but I never know when I may get a new router in the future that would support a good enough signal for it. Being that the app is frozen--meaning that it is semi-uninstalled--system still operates stably.

Titanium backup, it's in the app store. I do believe you need to be rooted though to uninstall those apps as well.

Ya you definitely need to be rooted. How is everyone getting rooted? I don't have ODIN, nor know how to use it, nor a windows OS.

Just hook your phone up with the drivers already installed and in usb debug mode from the menu... >menu > settings > applications > Development > usb debug mode. then just run the program and click "root" and it will take care of it for you
How do I add some of the bloatware apps back on to my device? Tried adb pouch from android commander and says I'm not rooted but I am after I checked with "root checker" any advice?
Adding the bloat back depends on how your removed it...TB can create a backup then remove it for you, you can us adb to remove it, but then you'll need to download the .apk files for the bloat you want to add it back in.
I believe the bloat is available for download in the development section.
Well, I searched around a bit, but the thread that it was one got closed...stuff got deleted...etc. Perhaps a bit more search, or someone can repost the bloat.zip.
ugh i messed up and deleted some live wall papers now it wont let me use live wall papers, how do i fix this? I tried unrooting phone so i could factory reset no luck.. i tried to use the backup files that i used for TB but it keeps giving me a error message, so if someone could help me please! i would appreciate it.. i didn't know i couldn't delete live wall papers, lesson learned
yo root the phone and flash it with K1c again if you are using that rom
I have rooted my phone and began to remove bloatware with titanium pro. I have removed some of the apps I have seen listed by other but I think I have a problem here. The sync icon just keep showing. I dont think I did anything else besides uninstalling and deleted the backup for some apps I never use and was sure they wouldnt cause problem. Please help. Thanks!

I remove drivesmart every time I flash a ROM. Its a worthless constant running app I don't want.
So, no its not unsafe to remove.

DriveSmart is safe to remove. Just don't touch it in your Settings, or else you'll get a FC. It remains there even after removing it.
I would also delete backup.

I actually like and paid for this app but since rooting and installing GummyCharge I don't have it and can for the life of me figure out how to get a working copy. I could use some help.
Thanks,
Brad
Did you pay for it through the market or through the app?
Through the App. I can't find it listed on Market. Couldn't find it in V-Cast Apps either.
Try going to the game's website (http://www.gameloft.com/smartphone/lets-golf-2/) and logging in with whatever info you used during the purchase. They should have a record of it.
Even if I bought it through Verizon? It was billed to my Verizon Wireless account.
The developer should still have a record. They had to be the one to bill it to verizon and had to have known what number to bill to
Charge Posted
The record of us buying it isn't the problem, the problem is that with the rom(gummy charged) it's taken out and also it's not in the toolbox, I want it too, I paid for it, I got my media hub back from the toolbox, but I can't find let's golf 2 either, maybe I can find an apk somewhere.

I have the exact opposite problem you have. I can't seem to get rid of it. Every time I uninstall it, it reappears in my settings>applications>manage applications list (but not in the apps page where you run everything) I can't actually play it though... and I don't know where the apk would be.
couldn't you pull it from one of the stock roms around. Isn't there a a full odin leak?
You could always just google around and find a lets golf 2 apk file...it shouldn't be too hard honestly.
I did find a copy and installed it. the only problem it didn't fit the screen. I don't know how to pull a file from a ROM.

You're not the only one with that problem lol. I've flashed roms, restored apps, and then go into manage apps and am like WTF! that wasn't on my phone when i created the backup.
I have the opposite problem as you, I want to get rid of it. I uninstall it but every time I reboot my phone it comes back...any suggestions? Already tried deleting it with titanium pro and still came back.

Bump. Just wondering if anybody has figured out how to delete this app - no matter what I try it keeps reinstalling itself. On gummy charged 1.91 EE4, with pbj kernel. I have tried tb uninstall, uninstall from task manager, freeze in tb. It is really annoying. Thanks for the help.

I have a thought. Go into System/App folder. See if it is there. If not look in the Data/App folder. I believe the name is something like com.gameloft.android.GAND.GloftLG2P.ML-1.apk. If it is rename it or delete it.
I deleted it out of the dalvik cache, the /data folder and the /preinstall folder. After a reboot, this is what shows up:
http://db.tt/UTtW58Y
(dropbox as I don't know how to use the forum app to upload photos)
I can't find it in any more folders....it's super annoying...
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Did you look in the System/App folder?
Yea it isn't in there. I have never had thus happen with an app before. I deleted my titanium backup of it also. I guess I will just try and ignore it....

Has anyone figured out how to delete this game yet? Like other people the game just keeps coming back after I reboot. I'm sure there are other more important issues out there but if anyone knows how to get ride of this game I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
Update - downloaded root explorer from the market
1) goto preinstall/apps
2) Delete the game
3) reboot
4)Delete from your backup aswell
Looks the game has been permanently removed. found the info on android central post by noobsickle

Another noob question...What is the difference between freezing an app and uninstalling one? I mean, it's a bit obvious, but also a bit vague...
My first few questions are rather broad/major... What's the different between a "package" and a ".APK" based on the spreadsheet being linked? Does freezing keep the process from restarting upon rebooting the phone??
Do I want to freeze apps that I want to keep for possible future use? Uninstall is for anything I want to get rid of completely and never plan to use, correct? I likely know the answers to these...But I also read that freezing an app is better and frees up more system resources than uninstalling....how can that be true? I assume uninstalling an app also "freezes" it, AKA stops it from processing...Correct?
So apps I might want in the future, like clock widgets, I just want to freeze, correct? Same for calender, calculator, etc?
On the other hand, I was to uninstall items like VZW Navigator, correct?
Sorry for redundent questions but I'm just making sure I do everything right.

From what I understand, freezing essentially deactivates the app. As long as the app is frozen, it should not start, regardless if your phone reboots. If you freeze the app, it will still be there, just not working where as uninstalling it will completely remove the app. If you are not sure if you want it, just freeze it.
Freeze disables it and leaves it in the rom and usually hides from app drawer. Uninstall deletes it from rom making rom footprint smaller but saves it in TIBU backup folder. Defrost re-enables app in rom. Uninstalled apps can be reinstalled from TIBU. Bottom line frozen app is still in rom thus not actually debloated just disabled. Uninstalled is removed from rom but saved by TIBU thus debloated.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have an updated list for TW 4.3?
I have this link
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqTvctlW89DtdC1qVUlLeVFTV3ZOdUtDclpBdVRQOUE&pli=1#gid=0
but it's clearly old as I don't see listings for Cloud and Backup Assistant Plus, which appear to be some Verizon (not Samsung) backup options.
Anyone have a current list?
Just noticed that on the Galaxy S6 it came with Facebook,Instagram and Skype pre-installed with no uninstall option except for a disable or Force Stop option of which we all know is useless for privacy concerns. Sucks that Samsung and HTC gave into Facebook for these demands. Those that seek Knox is safe, wait till you see Facebook ask or show you your email log on ID from your knox
The same problem on the HTC ONE M9 with Facebook.
A way to completely uninstall these few would be nice.
I think you would need to root, probably using chainfires recently released root, then install Titanium backup and freeze or delete the apps. Root Explorer would also allow you to delete the apps but Titanium is easier.
I don't think you'll be the only one wanting to do this, I sure will.
Here is a picture of the no uninstall option on S6 Edge.
PS: Not sure what on earth XDA Uploads from our computers these days because uploading a simple picture takes forever on a computer or even from a smartphone. I wonder if anything else is being uploaded besides the picture we wish to upload here. Not only that but then in the end it turns picture sideways..
I was not happy that i had instagram, facebook, messenger, skype, whatsapp preinstalled. My strides for privacy just took 10 steps back. I had uninstalled facebook/messenger on my G2 and just created a shortcut to facebook in my browser and changed the icon to facebook so it looks the same now i get to deal with extra battery drain and privacy issues
