What version of root did you install? Did this happen before root? What did you recently install for apps? Whats running just before it dies?

i have this same problem. It was running all night on plane mode and just turned off around 5am. When i pulled the battery and turned it back on it was still at about 80% battery...I had to pull the battery, it wouldn't turn on until i did. The only program i had running was the alarm clock.

are you using overclock widget by chance? I've tried several different ways to root, but each time i use overclock widget the phone shuts off and have to pull battery to restart. hope this helps

Hey guys I'm on the newest version of virus rom and my battery will just stay at,say,89% unless a reboot is performed. Any way to fix this?

I was having the same issue with my battery meter sticking. The same time this happens, my Setcpu app also was sticking and would full throttle the cpu. Im running the VirusRom right now, but have experienced this problem on a few of the other Roms also. My usual fix was just wipe everything and go with new install. It started happening again last night and I followed some posters advice to let the battery totally drain and then shutoff. I then recharged to full and everything seems to be fine again.
The first time it ever started happening was right after I had wiped the battery cache and rebooted. Ive stopped doing that now, but it still happens. I notice now that I usuallly experience this after a series of reboots. Not sure whats up, but draining the battery to zero helped out last night. We'll see in a day or two if it starts happening again.

Im actually done with ROMs until CM7 is ready. Im just going with a base rooted system and Ill use a custom kernel. Kernel is 99% of the improvement anyway.
Draining works for a day or so, then it does the same thing. I'm stock and it does it. It also does it with the stock battery. Hope they get it fixed with an update.

Mine actually just stopped working... was working for a week or so and today its just stuck on the same number until i reboot. Pretty annoying.
Bump - anyone find a solution to this? I tried running my extended battery to 0% last night and fully charging it... guess ill see if its fixed today. Pulling it off the charger, it already dropped to 95% lol...

That's because of how it charges not foot into details but that will always happen up to a 10% drop.

Right but my problem was/is the meter never changing. I think I fixed it by completely draining the battery and charging to full. Maybe the phone didnt know how much juice it had because of the different size battery.
yeah i changed to the stock battery last night and it would read fine but i really need this extended

Problems with the battery

Hello all,
I have been having a situation with my phone where while I am using the phone and the battery reaches about 80 - 75% the phone just dies without even shutting down, and when I turn it back on the battery is at something like 1%. Even more strangely, if I turn it off and wait for like an hour then reboot, it is back at 80%. I have calibrated the battery, so I am sure it is not a calibration issue. Also, this has been happening on every rom that I use. I had a Vibrant but traded with my father but I have the battery from the Vibrant even though they are the same.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I have discovered this is due to the battery itself and not a calibration error. I am using a new one now with no problems. Thank you very much for the suggestions though.
Gingerbread or Froyo?

Go to recovery and go to advanced/wipe battery stats and fix permissions

You need to calibrate your battery. download the battery calibration app by nema from the market. Charge your phone to as close to 4200mv as you can. Calibrate in the app. unplug phone immediately. Let it die completely. Charge it back up with no break

Thanks but I have tried this before posting. I did not let it run empty though, so I will try that.

The whole point is to let it run empty after clearing the stats when the phone is full...

I know w/ CM7 u can't let battery die, what if I shutdown phone?

I've read that I shouldn't let my battery die if I'm using CM7.
Can I just turn my phone off when my battery gets low to prevent loosing data? Or will I loose data even if I manually power down my phone?

Your phone will not lose data if powered down , I think .
Both my Galaxy Ace and Backflip did not lose data when powered down manually .
I've powered down plenty of times with no problem!

If your phone dies, it'll safely auto-shutdown and turn off.

So you are saying the issue with Cyanogen loosing data when the battery dies has been fixed?

Never heard of it... do you happen to have a source for that info?
I've been running CM7 Alpha 8 on my Sensation for a couple weeks now, I've shut down many times and have not had any issues.

The only thing I have read about the battery issue is completely draining a battery by turning the phone back on after CM has shut it down. Its bad news to totally and completely drain a battery. CM will safely shut down the phone before the battery gets so drained that it will cause damage to the battery itself. As far as data loss... do you lose data when you use the power button to turn the phone off or reboot it? Chances are...no.

Death of sleep ?

I'm on CM7 official. I'm having problem that if I turn off the screen when running some apps like alkido reader, after 10 min I cannot turn the phone on any more. No response whatever. Usually a battery pull will be ok, but I don't want pull my battery all day. If I exit to the home screen its ok.
Anybody knows what's the problem? How can I solve it? Thanks for any help.

First it's called the Sleep Of Death or SOD.
Also, did you change any system settings? (Overclocked, messed with voltage settings, etc.)
No, it's stock CM 7.1. I also tried reflash it without wiping the data. It doesn't help.

Does this actually help my phone?

Has anyone tried Fast Reboot pro? I have it automatically perform a fast reboot everytime I unlock the screen, but I'm not sure if it actually does any good for my phone. Anyone that's used it before, would you mind letting me know what you think of it, thanks?

It's prob just sucking your battery dry.
Set it to do a reboot each night or something, but not when you unlock the phone!!!
It's turning a simple act of turning the phones screen on, to restarting all startup apps on the phone, not gonna be helpful.

Yeah, just use it once in a while when you phone has been running for a long time.
I use it to... But its not a task killer it just restarts apps as if it was just booted.
Like above advice just use it once in a while and make sure you check important apps in white list ir manage list under settings to prevent it to restart the launcher etc.
