hello all,
after my tornado fel into the water i have a major problem.
sometimes i cant call, and when i try to call i only hear 2 soft "beebs"
sometimes when i am able to call it automaticly breaks the connection and again i hear the same 2 "beebs".
also sometimes people cant call me, but the screen says i have an connection.
i already put a new rom on the phone but it doesn't help so i ques it is a hardware problem.
I have another tornado for spare parst, does anyone know what this is?
maybe the antenna?
thanks in advance
It may be an antenna, but not for sure. You can try to disassemble Tornado and clean antenna connectors with any pure alcohol. If it doesn't help, it's PBA problem.
First you should have disassembled it completely and let it dry in all parts before using it again. Depending on how long it was in the water this may take some time. Taking fabric cloth and pressurized air can get it dry in a few minutes, but only if taken apart. Take care to remove the metal lids on the PBA as well and look inside for moisture.
There are no parts inside that take permanent damage from water if the device is without battery, but if it was on - end even used wet inside - then your prospects are variable. I would guess nevertheless that it should work again after all has dried.
thanks guys for the reply's,
i forgot to say that the phone felt into the water 1,5 moth before i started this topic. and 1 disambled the phone serveral times to make sure it was dry.
so inside it is dry now, but i tryed to use the phone with battery even when it was wet inside, so maybe that its where it went wrong.
what is the PBA? and where can i find the antenna connectors?
i already removed that metal box, and the chips underneath looks verry good. no corosion or what ever.
If you took everything apart already, then you should have seen the antenna connectors. The Antenna is located in the top cover at the back (above the battery cover). It connects via the two spring supported contacts on the upper part of the PBA (Printed Board Assembly). Both parts are gold plated, so it should not be a problem there.
Regarding the metal lids, take care to remove all of these (3). They are located underneath the keyboard (with the OMAP processor, RAM and the M-Systems DiscOnChip) on the same side of the PBA for the Radio and underneath the LCD.
As some chips are BGA soldered (soldered from underneath; BGA = Ball Grid Array), take care to blow with air also underneath (between PBA and CHIP). There is a very tiny gap between these and water hidden there may not dry for along time (if it has reached the area anyway).
However, the 2 soft beeps usually indicate that there is no free channel for you to be served (as far I remember) - you would get this problem with any other handset as well (same SIM assumed). It is a highly temporary problem (just retry) and you will not get evidence if you swap the SIM to another handset and retry there - network capacity has changed in the meantime and you would get a connection with the tornado as well.
If you experience call drops or other different behavior (compared to earlier) it may as well be attributed to a HW problem with the radio part in your device.
at this moment i use my htc hurricane with the same SIM card and i dont have any problems anymore.
so it is really a problem inside the phone. i havent used the tornado for 2 months now because it gets really anoying after a while.
i will take it apart for an another time, an blow some air underneath the chips as you say.
another symptom what i had was that sometimes the GPS connection was disconnected, and that the phone was searching for a signal for a long time.
but when i puted the sim card in my hurricane i dind't had any problems with the signal.
thanks again.

Sorry to tell you but you might just have a bad thing piece of harware. I started a thread a little while ago called "GPS Last Resort". I tried everything... And I mean Everything! I was told that there were "known" hardware issues with the Inspire. So I un-rooted and returned to a "stock" state and went through the PITA process of getting a replacement.
Once I got my replacement, it was a night and day difference. My new one locks in less than 15 seconds with 5-4 meters accuracy.
Don't drive yourself crazy. If it is still under warranty, get it replaced.

did your phone have any other signs of being defective or was it just the gps? I mean, the phone is great except for this! No boot loops, force closes, glitches, or anything...
Also, if it's just the antenna, could I buy an inspire with like a broke screen or something off ebay and just switch them out? Do you think that's a viable option?
Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this...
You may not even need to replace the antenna at all. When you pop off the cover for the LED camera flash (this is also your gps antenna) there are two little spring like clips that are the contacts for the antenna. If those contacts are not making a good connection - your phone will just keep searching for signal. If you are brave enough - you can pop out the antenna and carefully bend out those contact clips in order to make a better connection.
I was hesitant to do this myself - and sense the phone was still under warranty, I got a replacement.
Sorry again for the delay - hope that helps if you have not already found an answer.

Yea be careful with this. I decided I'd go ahead and pop off the camera cover to readjust my gps antennae contacts and ended up breaking the cover. ~2cm crack just under the flash, which raises up the cover enough that the contacts won't make contact at all unless I'm applying pressure that only Thor could exert on the cover.
side note - 2 weeks after I did this my screen shattered.
Haven't been having much luck lately..

Ouch!
That is pretty much why I decided to go for doing the warranty replacement
I did the warranty after trying to remove the gps antenna because it still didnt work after i did that. The sent it back working !!!
Ok.. i see many people on this forum asking questions about this device.. the truth is this device is designed very poorly and it even may arive at your hands defective / with some or with a lots of problems.. you can proceed by your very own responsibility. Take a look in the picture for pcb details
- to Fix about every problem you need to findout how to unscrew the back plastic case and be able to see its PCB (Printent circuit Board) - Its pretty easy, just remove the little screws and give a presure at the clips of the cover to be removed, don't use metal objects because you will scratch the plastic.
* WIFI / GPS very low signal
Let me begin with one problem that you have FOR SURE.. is the low wifi signal and gps.. this is due to a horible design of the antenna.. the antenna is not just horrible, but it is also causing a short circuit it self! which is the main reason why the signal is low. First you have to stop the short circuit from happning
How to fix it? Unscrew the back cover, at the top of the back cover under the flash you will see a white sticker, this is the antenna, you have to remove completely this white sticker because it can't be useful by any way. Remove every piece of it including the copper-yellow color from the inside (the place that makes the connection.
Now find a UTP cable and take a piece of a hard copper of it, remove the plastic and keep the copper wire clear, cut it and place it in the whole were previewsly was the white sticker.. you have to place it in this way so it can connect with the inside conntact with the back plastic is placed and screwed again on the phone.. there are 2 pins in that place.. the old antenna used both of this pins (that was causing short circuit) you have to use the left pin and leave the right pin completely empty.. so the right pin doesn't connect anywere, and the left pin is connected to your piece of copper wire.
Cut the copper at the same size of the top of your phone.. so you can place it horizontal ... but you can also try vertical, (use wifi analyze app from play store to see what fits better for you)
Now.. this is the same antenna for gps.. you have nothing else to do.. just install GPS Test app and go outside and test your gps..
This is what i did and im pretty happy with it, instead i used 2 pices of copper and i covered the whole top place of my phone under the camera.. but that doesn't mean is the most right way because when we dealing with antennas there are a lot of math / and calculations that have to be done to design a perfect antenna.
the wire gives really a great signal.. just in case you want to reach the extreme.. Instead of copper wire you can use thin-Copper paper. (don't use foil of aluminium is not good) and design a better antenna copying the design of an antenna from another phone (that you know it works)
* Camera autofocus doesn't work - Or camera doesn't work at all
[Don't unscrew] Frist thing you should try is remove the back cover and give a presure in the right side of your camera with your finger.. this is the place the connector is located.. and it may gets unclipped and loose the connection after a small drop or something. After that Reboot the phone.
[unscrew back] If this presure on the right doesn't fix it, then you have to unscrew the phone.. take off the camera and give it some small hits and punches.. place back the camera and see if it works.. this is due the autofocus motor got stuck.
* Mic, Speaker, USB doesn't work
[Don't unscrew] This is due the connector of the bottom part got lost its connection. remove the back cover and give presure under the place of the SIM cards, were it writes 'WCDM' and 'GSP'. press a bit those spots. reboot, if not fixed:
[unscrew back] The two bottom connectors is 1. for the touchscreen and 2 for the bottom parts.. you need to check both of those because i am not sure which is which.
* SIM1, SIM2, Microsd not working
[Don't unscrew] Try to give some press next to vol+ / vol- buttons
[unscrew back] On the top left of the PCB there are located 2 connectors, 1 is for the front camera, and 2 is for the SIM/SD parts.. the last connector to the side of vol buttons is the connector you have to check and press to make sure is connected ok.
* Touchscreen doesn't work
[Don't unscrew] Give presure right under the headphones jack
[unscrew back] This is were it is located.
Charging Problem
I would like to add the problem with charging the batteries.
I got a new H9500, with two batteries. When i try to charge it with the adapter that came with it, the phone shows the charging animation, but it never actually charges the phone.
I have the same behaviour on both batteries.
After searching for a solution i found these:
-The charger supplied is 5V, 0.5A. Some people used a 1A charger and got to the point that it actually started to charge
-ROM problem, by changing the ROM some people were able to fix the problem, since the software was not getting correct info out of the battery's third pin.
Well none of the above worked for me. I hope someone comes up with an altarnate solution.

Hello guys...
My story. Bought this phone for my son for 160 €. We found out that camera focus didn't work, so I took it apart.
The easiest way to take down plastic cover, after it was unscrewed, is to put something plastic under it in the place between both SIM cards places, and work around inner battery square.
When cover was off, I found out that camera plug (right of camera) wasn't even plugged in. It only laid on connector. Plugged it in, and shake camera a little and auto focus came alive.
After that I noticed that black cable between gsm antenna and PCB was very loose, so I had to sort this out
At the end I found out that speaker connections are very delicate and had to take plastic down again to properly connect speaker.
Now it is obvious to me, why these Chinese phones are so cheap. We have saying in our country: pay little, get little
But now everything is cool and my son is happy.... And I am happy
Hi.
I just got a Feiteng H9500. The problem is that the camera is not working and the camera application hangs then stop responding then quit. When I start the camera nothing apears on display. I've put some pressure then some hits and it started to work a while. The focus worked as well but It seems to me not to work excellent so I gave it more hits, then the camera stopped working again. I have disassembly it, i moved a bit the camera and removed and put back the connector and it came alive again for a while, but just the front camera. Then stopped again. I have noticed that the camera doesn't move up and down when I press on it, it is stopped down, if I lift it with a needle it goes up, so it's not stucked.I can't even comute between cameras because the aplication hangs then quit. ( Everything else works.
any help? Thanks.
Hi Guys,
Just ordered the HTM H9500, is it exactly the same Phone as the Feiteng H9500?
I mean can I use ROMs for the Feiteng H9500 to flash them on the HTM H9500?
Big Thanx

My phone is Feiteng H9500 (HTM).
Appearance is similar FEITENG h9500, but not identical.
I'm not sure that have the same Rom, so I did not dare to flash a custom ROM.
View here:
http://www.movilesdualsim.com/forums/feiteng-h9500.166/
I cannot read Spanish or whatever it may be
There is a ROM at needrom called something like this "feiteng / htm h9500".
That sounds like the device is the same...

Thanks to your photo guide, I found courage and disassembled my HTM H9500 and DG300 phones and fixed them easily (nothing to fix really, just blow off some dusts between camera connectors and in front speaker)

You should order it by the store you got the picture of it. actually there are many stores selling parts for this phone.. almost like its branded.. unlike with other chinese phones you get a struggle to find parts, so you shouldn't face any problem to order a part.
Sound when touch on Lock Screen
hi, guys
I have FEITENG (HTM) H9500 almost a year and I am very pleased with it.
I want to change the sound of the screen when touch lockscreen, but I do not know how.
It did not sound when unlock the screen, it is the sound when you put your finger on the screen while the screen is locked.
In The system/media/ui is not, and I do not know where I'd be looking elsewhere.
Please help
No Data connection
I have had a Feiteng H9500+ for a while but recently rooted it and tried some different ROMs as well as applying a GPS fix. Somehow now my AT&T data connection is not working. The SIM settings have the data on and set to AT&T and I turned roaming on just to be sure but nothing I do can get the AT&T data to work. When I am connected to Wi-Fi it works fine. This is the only way I can get Internet.
Can anyone help me get my mobile data working again?
I just wanted to share how I fixed the GPS on my sub-100$ "Laude S500" MTK6582 based chinese android phone.
May I start by stating that I am astonished how well this phone is working, for the price? I bought it as a backup emergency phone, but as far as I can see up to now, it simply....works fine. A completley different best compared to the cheap chinese android phones I tried a year or two ago, which were simply not usable.
Anyhow, so everything worked, except the GPS. No matter what I did (and I did everything), even after 30 minutes, the GPS would only see maybe one satellite, and would of course never get a lock.
I've tried all the steps floating around the net - all the EPO fixes, Faster GPS, manually editing all the .conf files, and I even almost bricked my phone by messing up build.prop. That last one almost cost me the phone, but thanks to SP_Flash_Tool and MtkDroidTools I managed to install CWM Recovery, which in turn gave me a root shell, which allowed me to fix build.prop via ADB. If you need help with that, let me know, and I will describe the process (the other threads seem to be literal translations from russian, which leave something to be desired in clarity, IMNSHO).
Regarding the GPS:
It seems that there was simply a lose contact between the mainboard and the GPS antenna. I watched this video (which is for a S3): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI4hs19riRM
So I simply unscrewed the plastic back-plate on the phone. In the upper right corner there are two contacts labeled "GPS/BT/Wifi". I held a piece of aluminum foil to the upper contact, and ran GPS Test for about 3 minutes, and got my first GPS lock ever, on that phone! Yey!
After that, I simply, very carefully, bent the little pin-contact that's on the mainboard up a little bit, so that it would make a better contact to the antenna's contact (which is on the plastic back plate). I also cleaned the contacts with a drop of rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip.
After that, I simply assembled the phone again, and now I get a 3D GPS lock in less than a minute!
Hope that helps,
M.
Hello. i have a question. I have a problem with my mate 8. It's that that my GPS is not working (i don't get a GPS fix). I've sent my phone to the repair shop with guarantee, but they refused to fix it couse i have 2 slight dents in housing and apparently that is what is couses the GPS problem. (one dent is in area of volume buttons and the other is where the charging port is). It's really the dents that can couse this, or is the GPS itself? I could probably change the housing myself (they want me to pay 110€ for replacing it), but how is with replacing the GPS module itself? is it even possible? thank you in advance
its called an SoC (system on a chip) for a good reason, namely that the whole system is built into one chip or the same motherboard. so ud basically have to exchange the whole mobo ^^ maybe its just a bad gps antenna contact though...how did u get those dents?
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10
Ok, that sucks actually then
Is it possible to figure out if the gps is bad without changing the housing first? I tried AndoiTS GPS TEST and i get AGPS in orange. Does that mean that module is fine? (I added a screenshot).
Oh, and I've got the dents whit dropping my phone -.-
And another question. Where is the actual antenna? Or is the whole housing that works as antenna?
Hi. I bought the phone on the 8th October 2016. GPS was fully working. On the 10th, I updated as there is an update showing on my phone. After the update. I cannot get any GPS signal at all. This is a bad update.
Flash
I had same issue after I incorporated the KANGvip tools into AL10369 , just flash the cyst from another ROM like b200 or similar. If you don't know how then flash ROM to a working Rom with GPS. Extract the custom backup from twprp. Reload the nonworking ROM and flash only cyst and boom cops can find u after via gps lol

thanx to finding this thread i kept on searching
i recently changed the screen on my phone and since gps failed completely (wifi also seemed to be lesser)
as the phone lays on the screen, the copper nipple in top left corner is the contact the gps antenna has to make with the case.
i placed some paper beneath the element holding this niple, thus pushing it up - BINGO
i get a 3d fix in no time like before
also wifi connection improved

Mate 8 GPS fixed !
Finally, after weeks of researches & tests I found the "nipple" or copper pin !!!
It's indeed the one on the top left once the screen is on the table. Either you find a way to put it back in position... without breaking it (the best way is probably with your nail) or you just put some Aluminium (a tiny sheet of aluminum folded several times to get 1mn maxi alu to allow the final winding) in the rectangular "hole" on top right (opposite) of the metal cover of MATE8.
I discovered the "right pin" while testing to put a small aluminium foil on several places of the main board (once opened naturally) AND using GPS TOOLS (playstore) ! you have to wait several seconds to get the signal or at least orange dots on the "radar". Better to test first such tool first with a smartphone where the GPS is working fine and compare both phones while changing the place of the aluminium. Nevertheless, I hope you would not have to repeat my tests as I will clearly show the right "copper pin" in an attached picture ...
Hoping that helps.

Please read my answer below
Hi,
I replaced the screen of my brother's Nexus 5 and even so the display works perfectly we seem to have destroyed a component.
I managed to connect the device to lte/3g/2g networks (see photo in the attachment) and sometimes a few packets are even successfully transmitted but that's an exception. Usually it is not even possible to load a website within a reasonable amount of time..
Wifi works.
Stock and cm13-caf firmware show the same behavior.
Like shown in the photo the phone is successfully connected to a 4g/lte network.
Phone calls on a 2g-network work.
Any ideas to which component we have to replace? Or any hints on what could give more information about the actual issue?
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards
Michael
Does the original screen still work? If it does, you could try moving everything back to see if that makes a difference.
When you replaced the screen, did you use a where the LCD/frame/glass were pre-assembled?
Thanks for your response.
I had two replacement displays and noticed the same issues with both of them.
(I bought a cheap one first from ebay which had multiple touch screen issues and only after that bought a way more expensive original replacement unit.)
Hmm, hopefully, it is not a motherboard issue. I would suggest trying the old screen is possible.
Another part that may affect signal would be the USB flex port cable. The other pieces that attach to the motherboard are the camera, headphone jack, USB charging/data cable, and battery.
We completely destroyed the old display unit after removing all other components except for the battery. This made it easier to bend it and remove the battery without damaging its enclosing.
I'm afraid it might be the mainboard but was hoping for a cheaper solution . The usb board is still a possibility since it routes a quite a few signals between components.... Are there some schematics of the device available online?
Haven't seen any schematics.
I guess you didn't use a hair dryer to warm the adhesive before using a spudger to remove the battery.
Examine the USB flex cable to see if there are any breaks.
If you get a phone with a smashed screen and working internals, you should be able to get the phone working.
I wasn't sure if heating up the battery is a good idea and since the old screen has already been damaged I really didn't care if it's even more so...
Heating the battery is fine as long as you keep moving the hair dryer around. The battery just needs to get warm, not hot. Also, you would heat it from the front of the phone, not the back.
I bought a Nexus 5 with a damaged display unit online and used its mainboard and antenna cables to fix my unit. Everything works again. Seems to have been something on the mainboard but I have no idea which component exactly.
Thanks for updating the thread with your solution.
