does anyone know? it's really weird. I can see the icons under /windows folder, but I just can make it appear on the start menu. thanks

let me clarify... by start menu.. you mean the screen in windows and the quicklinks associated with it? or your slider?
IF its the windows side you can just use an icon changer and clear cache.. if you mean like your slider.. you need to edit manila or use a cab with a slider you like

if your still at it.. try this...

If you use JWMD IconChanger go to Menu, Tools, HTC Sense Tools, Clear Icon Cache.
Click Yes and Ok when completed.
Click Yes to reboot device.
Manual way using File Explorer - go to My Device\Application Data\HTC\ProgLauncher and delete all files in the folder (*.bmg files). Reboot device. If you only changed a few Icons you can delete only those files, e.g. if you change the Audio Booster’s icon only delete “Audio Booster.bmg” file and reboot.
Both methods will update Windows and Sense Icons.
Works for me.

How to use custom themes...

I have looked, and searched, and tried umpteen billion different things, but thus far nothing is working. I have installed the TF3D Config Tool, I have followed the steps to the letter, yet nothing works. I set the correct path, I have downloaded several themes (.theme files) and put them in the correct place, done everything according to every video and post I can find, but to no avail. How do I change the theme on my Fuze? I am currently using the NATF 2.3 ROM, so is that the problem? Do I need to change my ROM? Any help would be greatly appreciated, or a link to themes that work, or a detailed explanation of what I am doing wrong, something.

Just point TO the directory not INTO, press OK, go to the little arrow and select the theme. Theme must be in that dir as dor theme NOT as dot ZIP!

I have selected the folder where the themes were stored, and all have been .theme files. For instance, I downloaded the Xenred.theme by Archy, put it into the folder /Internal Storage/Themes/ then in the TF3D Config pointed the path to /Internal Storage/Themes and from the dropdown selected Xenred. It went through the motions of installing the theme, said it was copying files and deleting, etc... but when it reset, nothing. It did not change the TF3D.

[Q]Kspec battery icon with Cyanogen 6.1 RC1

Hi all!
I've Cyanogen 6.1 RC1 on my Nexus One. I'd like to know if I can replace the default battery icon with the Kspec's battery icon.
I'm talking about the icon below this post.
Thanks a lot!
Any user can help me about it?
Hello,
Try here,
http://circle.glx.nl/
should have nexus cyanogen framework on it, other wise you can up load the one from your phone.
Was using for my desire, so please check about nexus one.
Sent from the 25th century.
I've just checked but there aren't the icons that I said before.
You can make this easily with metamorph.
Could you give me the file, please? Thanks!
Is there any file for Metamorph with this icons?
OK, now I have not much time.
Look in my siganture, download one of my themes (Take Nicer Battery Icons), delete everything except the framework-res folder and the *.xml file.
In the frame-res folder is an folder called res and therein is a folder called drawable-hdpi.
Delete everything in this foöder and copy your battery icons in this empty folder.
Now you can copy the main folder to your SDCard in the Folder "AndroidThemes"
Start Metamorph and apply this as a "excist theme". (Or so, in German it is "existierendes theme")
wait and reboot when ready!
I've tried this way with KspecBattery.zip but it doesn't work. For long time it says me: "Applying..." but doesn't work.
If you want, you can try with KspecBattery.zip and say me if it works. Please!
The file is okay. It should work on every ROM.
Don't disable the checks in metamorph and the delay must be around 4200
You have to play a bit with it.
Let the phone do it, it can take a minute.
Are you talking about KspecBattery.zip? It's ok?
Sorry for my english.
Here is update.zip KspecBattery for NIGHTLY 245 http://www.4shared.com/file/NQdYVAML/KspecBattery-signed.html
I've Cyanogen 6.1 RC1. It's the same thing?
I've just tried to flash that Nightly version but the phone goes in loop. It's old, I think.

If you take a careful look, you'll note the icons that I've said in the first post are different than the icons in UOTKitchen.

I've tried another time with that file but it doesn't work, again. What should I do?
Anyone has any idea?
I've fixed with the Wipe way and Metamorph file. Thanks a lot.
Remember turning on usb debugging before using metamorph.

Theming problems, anyone lend a hand?

Im running into some problems while trying to to theme the framework-res.
Im using apk manger to decompile the apk, so far ive only tried changing the zzz_buttons that go in the drop down bar.
I recompile the apk ect...
But i keep getting force closes "'tw_quick_panel" and then everything else, when i apply the apk via root explorer.
Also, which values in the xml do i edit so all the fonts are white, and the menus are black.
Does anyone want to team up with me and help me make a theme, i can do all the graphics, but im not really sure what to edit in the XMLs and im obviously doing something wrong when compiling
Thanks.
Hi natious
I think my posts in this thread will help:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942618
its not on color but its a general guide on how to modify framework-res.apk
To change font color; you have to specify which text? ; there are several categories of text in the framework; title bar, notification bar, menus , sub menus system app, etc....
also, you have the same with background colors, its not a single value and its cannot be changed with changing single value; some apps have their own background pngs
xml deals with colors located in colors, drawable, layout and values directories
res\values\styles.xml is the main layout styling and theming xml
i can apply any changes you want, if help
good luck with theming....
Hi there as far as i understand, you are supposed to push the frame-res.apk by using command:
adb push framework-res.apk DESTINATION_FOLDER.
Copying might not work, plus this has to do from the recovery.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, i will give that stuff a try later tonight.
Do i have to push the framework back to the phone via adb, or is just replaceing it with root explorer fine.
Is it possible to see the changes on a virtual device rather than having to send it to the phone.
Thanks for your help, if i run into anymore problems do you mind if i pm you questions lol
Thanks.

If u manage to push via adb in recovery mode, then thats the best method of reverting stuff if it fails..If u copy/replace via root explorer you better be sure you have done all correct, else ull be flashing factoryfs.rfs unlimited times..
If u have root permissions in recovery mode, ill would use that method..

Ah ok, I understand now. No there is not that, however you can do some small edits to the theme in order to change how that bar looks. I'd recommend going through the themes that work on CM7 RC1 (though I'm sure you understand why, this is because GBCollab is essentially CM7 RC1) and seeing if you can find a google search bar you like. You can find screenshots of all of them in my reference guide for themes or you can just click this link. Once you find one you like, download that theme, unzip it and open it up. Inside of the folder system, you'll find a folder called apps and in there you'll see a bunch of apk files including GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk. Grab that file.
Now there are two ways you can do get this onto your phone, the first of which I've never actually gotten to work for myself but I'm going to list it anyways because...who knows?
1) Download Root Explorer from the market.
2) Somehow get the file I told you to grab earlier onto your phone's SDcard, doesn't matter how just remember where you put it.
3) Open up Root Explorer and navigate to where you put that file.
4) Long press the file and select Move on the menu that pops up.
5) Navigate back to the root of Root Explorer and scroll down to the folder System (this'll be one step back from your SDcard)
6) Navigate to the folder Apps
7) At the top, click on where it says [mount r/w]
8) At the bottom click on the paste button and when it asks you if you want to replace the existing file, select yes or ok whichever is answering in the affirmative.
9) Reboot
This has never actually worked for me, I've heard others say it works great so I don't know. If it doesn't work for you here is the other way we can do this however it requires you are on Windows and have either WinRAR or 7zip.
1) Download both the Bliss theme and the theme you want to steal the search box from
2) DO NOT UNZIP BLISS but DO unzip the other theme and again pull out the search box.
3) Open Bliss in WinRAR or 7zip but DO NOT UNZIP IT
4) Navigate to system/apps again and drag the GoogleQuickSearch.apk file you want to use into that folder. I've never done this with 7zip but on WinRAR it'll have a pop up after finishes adding it and just hit OK or Yes, again not sure what it says but just answer in the affirmative.
5) Put the modified Bliss theme on your SDcard and flash it as you normally would.
I know this method works because I've used it. You can also use this method to replace other system apps in that folder. Plus it makes you feel all cool because you edited a theme
~~EDIT~~
I've also attached the stock search box just in case you want that.

[Mod] Remove NFC Icon from Statusbar (Without XML edit)

If you find this icon as ugly as I do you probably researched and figured out that you could remove this by changing the OTHERS.XML in /system/csc/
If you have no problem editing the XML that is probably the easiest solution, however if you are like me and need to have a solution that works as a flashable zip that is indepenedent of the random carrier settings in others.xml this solution might help you.
This is the NFC apk from LL1 samsung release and should in theory be backwards and forwards compatible.
Tested on LL1 / TWRP.
If this works for you please give me thanks / rate the thread. If it doesn't let me know so i can figure out a more universal solution.

I kinda like the NFC icon but I changed it to something else. Just swap out the icon with another icon.

Winrar or 7zip will do. Drag the 'res/drawable-hdpi' folder out to and make the changes. Then drag the folder 'res/drawable-hdpi'' back into the apk. Depending on your Windows configuration, make sure there are no 'thumbs.db' files in ANY of the folder in the apk file before you replace the file in your phone or else you're gonna get some force-close upon reboot. Good luck.
PS: After you're comfortable with replacing icons then you go ahead and start replacing icon in all your other programs. systemui.apk, phone.apk, contacts.apk, email.apk, maps.apk, etc...
