I cant stand the regular music player.. its horrible... is there a better player like the galaxy s or sense music player available... I have the latest darkslide 4.2 rom and this will put my phone over the top

try miui music. that seems to be all the rave. I personally love the 2.2.1 com.android.music.apk... but don't know if its compatable with droid x.. can be found in the eris forums under development/froshedyo/version 7. long press volume to skip tracks but a similar UI just no visuals so it runs smooth

Doubletwist with AirSync.
PowerAmp. Best player out now, sound is terrific, and the EQ allows for audio tweaking to fit anyone's taste. Costs 4.99 in the market, but is definitely worth it if you care how your music sounds.

Its free on the market
It can do wifi sync if you have Winamp installed on your computer
I use mSpot. Its an awesome cloud based music player
+1 More for PowerAMP.
Lithium user here...and I personally love it.
The UI was just so original that I had to have it. I even went through the trouble of asking the dev to put it up on SlideMe market...as my bank won't allow charges in a foreign currency.
*OT*
Goddamn market...I swear...please convert currency FOR ME so my bank allows me to buy foreign applications...Too many times; I've wanted an app...but had to pirate it because it wasn't in the market or SlideME.
Player Pro (Paid) or Lithium Player (Paid). I hate the stock android player - no intuition whatsoever. I hate Apple products but the iPod/Phone music player is very nice.
I didn't hate the stock music player, but I downloaded the "leaked 2.3 music player apk" and I love the look and feel to it. With that app open, it feels like I am on an actual mp3 player and not a phone.

Glad to hear it. Mine worked amazing up until changing a few phone files for theme-ing. Now my music skips when running in the background if I'm doing any type of navigation on my phone (scrolling through apps, looking through facebook) Have you run into anything like that with the leaked app?
I use the winamp player, its pretty good

I've noticed this. Also, tons of forcecloses with the honeycomb music app.
One of the forum members on this site leaked a new motorola media player, its been reviewed on several droid blogs to be great, but apparently Motorola made him take it down.
tried real player yet? its not bad

i suspect that will go down now with Ubermusic out. its awesome. smoothest music app i have ever used. and that is coming from someone that is a hardcore poweramp user.
I'm using subsonic
I am using PlayerPro
Coming from an hd7 which has an AMAZING music player, i think ubermusic is pretty close to it. It's a near zune clone and works awesome.
I have not tried Ubermusic yet, but out of al players I have tried Playerpro is hands down my fav. Skins, customization, Album Art/ Artist Art Sync and the Equalizer option . Smooth,Looks great too.

i just took a look at PlayerPro and it looks hella slick I currently use AudioGalaxy, as i have over 14 gigs of music, and streaming it seemed to be the best option....ah decisions, decisions..lol
Ubermusic is also good app.
PlayerPro or Ubermusic.. hm..
I have a few to choose from, thanks guys!
I am going to try all of them and pick which one suits me best.
Keep the suggestions coming. You guys are awesome with the help.
I used UberMusic on my Xperia Play before I sold it and I want to use it on my Sensation but I'm still using stock because it has the SRS option. Are there any other music apps that use SRS?
Can't stand poweramps awful skin looks old school but ubermusic is eye candy and playerpro gets you both a nice interface and look combined with nice features I like it because the lock screen controls work great on sensation and you can long press volume to switch songs

playerpro. Liked it so much I even paid for it.
Regularly updated, and the dev works from his bedroom and is a nice guy, speaks to you!

Is there demo version or try before you buy version of Ubermusic anywhere?
I use the Volume + app. It boosts the volume from your speaker, headphones and bluetooth device. It also has a more than decent sound enhancer. I really don't miss the stock srs sound enhancer, that came on my HTC sensation, with is app installed.

Ubermusic is great been using it since first alpha build and it gets better and better each time
PlayerPro has been great for me.
i have tried poweramp, playerpro and other music players on my desire hd but i stuck with htc's own player.
i guess i really didnt need the extra features these apps offered and i really like the stock elegance of the htc player, even more on the sensation.
though i liked the look of the lock screen widget of the older sense more.
google music 3.0
I'm just wonder what's everyone's favorite media player app?

I don't like signatures....
Google Music has worked well for me.

Google Music, followed closely by winamp.
The only thing I like about the stock HTC player is that you can operate it at lock screen and notification bar. Other than that it doesn't have anything else.
Sent from my Desire HD
For music I am using Music 3.0, which has a background that changes colors randomly. Considering the market recognizes it as Google Music, I assume it is, even though it looks nothing like the one in the market. For video, I use MoboPlayer.

I use PowerAMP and love it, very good, customizable, great EQ with presets and the ability to make your own presets, and native FLAC support. I haven't used GoogleMusic though, I got an invite but it turns out Linux isn't supported yet and it's just too big of a pain to move my music from my laptop, I have over 100 gigs.

Have you tried installing through wine? ?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Yeah but I couldn't get it to work well. Wine and I have never been good friends lol. It's very few and far between that I even think about using it. I could probably get it to run ok if I spent long enough toying with settings but with PowerAMP and a 32gig SD card I'm happy enough with how much music I have. If i ever really want something of my computer I have a VNC server set up on it that I can retrieve files over.
Music player and Display are my biggest uses on battery. Display is already set to lowest setting, so I'm wondering if I can improve on the music player side. All I need are the basics: shuffle, repeat, albums.
Currently using Valhalla 1.2, stock music player.
Look for my stock music player on the second or third page of the galaxy s 4g themes and apps section. It is the stock GB music player, it works great and is better looking.
uber music is pretty good

I actually use Miui now. It doesn't seem to use much less battery than Music Player, but at least the controls work on the lock screen.
Unfortunately, the battery issue seems to be a problem with Android in general. Rather disappointing compared to my iphone, but not much I can do.
BTW, the battery life on KI1 sucks. I am sure they are fixing the problem.

Hmm... I kind of noticed that, but I thought it was just a battery calibration thing. I guess I'll flash back for now and see if it helps.
Thanks!
Play music seems to drain battery too easily, anything else out there for playing music stored on the device that is better on the battery?
Thanks
Poweramp

Personally I use Shuttle+, only uses about 5% of my battery in a day of normal use. About 3 hours of on screen time and about the same of listening to music, normally my phone is on for 12 hours after a full charge and I plug it in after that.
for me the best app...and battery fiendly...I love it

I like JetAudio Plus for battery life and sound quality.
i use this

I don't think it's gonna be much difference between some music players. And I don't think anybody ever done comparing the battery life between music apps.
But then again, if it's me, I don't mind sacrificing few hours of my N5 battery life to great sound quality of a music player.
For music player, definitely sound quality >> Battery life, and i'm gonna recommend Poweramp for sound quality. Not a fan of V4Android myself though...
PowerAmp once again
Tons of features. Nice UI (main screens & widgets). It works as hell with V4A.
PowerAmp doesn't consume a lot of battery unlike V4A which uses more power in Super Quality mode. (but the sound is so good )

PowerAmp is the best player ever, best audio quality
also Mort Player is good

You can use this if You use dsp or other audio mods, it's simple and minimal

Tested out poweramp and while the battery use of poweramp was less than the stock player, my wakelock was much higher causing an overall higher battery drain than the stock player.
Poweramp is nice though, going to try a few more to see which has good sound and the least battery drain.
Was thinking about using doubletwist because I may want to sync my iTunes playlists.
