Car Dock Audio Out Not Working - Fascinate Accessories

I just got my Samsung Fascinate with the car dock manufactured by Samsung as a replacement from Motorola Droid. I didnt know that the dock has a 3.5mm audio out on the back that connects thru a slider unit that inserts into the Samsung's micro USB port so I was excited that I only had to connect a one thing for both power and audio. The only problem is that there is no audio coming out of the port and no where on Samsung's website nor Verizon, does it mention that the docks had audio out going from the micro USB plug that input for power and out for audio. I am not sure if it was mistake in manufacturing or if I got a DOA. Please, if anybody has this same issue, let me know if you are having the same problem.
Thanks!!

Mine doesn't work either.

Nevermind, I found where the issues. When I was looking at my wife's home dock, the was a sticker covering up the 3.5mm jack stating that audio out function is not available until the 2.2 rollout, damn!!

Wow...
On the one hand, bad VZW/Samsung for releasing such a buggy phone. On the other hand, it's quite clear they have a plan to support this thing.
To be honest, I'd rather have a buggy Sammy then no Sammy at all. I'll just keep busy by watching Avatar over and over and over.

i truly hope that they support it well, but being so new its a good sign that there are so many accessories becasue they still dont have any type of docks for the incredible just a few cases and **** like that. although now that my dinc is gone they offer the white back dammnit.

So it's official that the Samsung Car Dock sold through Verizon won't support audio out through the 3.5mm jack until the Fascinate is updated to 2.2? That's a definite fail on their part.

I had the same issue on my Car Dock and Desk Dock. I asked a Samsung Rep about this, as I also bought a 3.5mm to RCA video out cable that doesn't work either. Official Froyo to come out next month per rep, no exact date. I'm **hoping** the 3.5 jack on the car mount will support video out too, as I have a nice multimedia system set up in my truck, wired to include the 3.5 inch screen in dvd head unit, the 7 inch screen I embedded in sun visor, all wired together I want to slap my Fascinate into the dock, having it charge from accessory port and the video out to feed the head unit, which in turn feeds the 7" screen.

Anyone with the official car dock willing to measure resistance between pins 4 and 5 from the USB connector?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820275

Update
So now that froyo is out i went and bought the samsung car dock. Guess what? Still no freakin audio out of the 3.5mm jack on the dock.
Anyone else still having this issue even after DL30?
My setup:
DL09 radio
adrynalyne's Super Clean DL30 1.0 and the included kernel
Thanks
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812698&page=2 Post #13

I am having the same issue i bought a shorty cable to do this and it does not work either. any ideas people?

I bought a $10 FM transmitter from Walmart and plugged it into the back of the car dock. I had to download a "TW_cardock_patch" or something like that. There's more than one thread on here on where to get the real link. It will only work if you're rooted though. Once you do that: throw the phone in the cradle, turn on the FM transmitter and you should be good. When you connect the phone to the cradle your Speaker Icon should have a line through. If it does you should be all set! Hope that helps.

The app is called dock sound redirector for anyone still curious.

Nexus One Car Dock (official) doesn’t have audio out?

google dot com slash phone now has the car dock listed ($55) but says “Sorry, this item is temporarily not available.”
The PDF that they link to talks about a built in speaker but doesn’t mention a audio out port for connecting to your car stereo. Could they have really left this out?
Edit: The listing disappeared after only a couple of minutes and unfortunately I refreshed before I grabbed a screenshot. I did save the help page and the PDF, although both are still accessible on Google’s servers.
I can't post links so the best I can do is (bit dot ly slash bvAsYB)

Love the way the phone slides into it... so much easier than my 3rd party POS holder I'm using right now...
After checking out the PDF... looks like you're right... no audio jack... but no real need from one. You should be able to plug an audio jack into the phone still... would've been nicer to just leave it in the dock though and have audio transferred through the gold connectors... Why Google?
Edit: In the PDF it talks about how the dock automatically enables BlueTooth. Guessing that's how you're supposed to connect it to your cars audio.
"You can't use a Bluetooth headset while the phone is docked" - again, Google... why??

Finally!! I hope I can have it by this weekend.

Im going to wait a while before I purchase.Right now my home dock is acting funky, some times it charges and sometimes it doesn't depending on how my nexus sits.

The pdf actually mentions sending data through bluetooth on the dock. It probably does have an audio jack.

You can't push data through the gold connectors.
The pdf actually mentions playing music through the phone -> bluetooth.
There probably is a connection on there, did the desk dock specify the audio connection?
It's gonna be retarded if it plays audio through the docks speaker phone, wtf.

I don't think it was supposed to be up originally as it showed not available. I'd guess it would show up pretty soon though as a result.
I think it looks great, but it is really dissapointing that you cannot use a bluetooth headset while it is docked. I do not think that the speakerphone will be clear enough with the amount of time I am on the phone. I guess now I know that it looks like and how it functions, I will be looking in to another option.
The dock just came back up on the purchasing website and now seems to be officially for sale.

me too. finally....
$55 seems a bit excessive imo. Especially considering that I can't even make a phone call while using it. Speaker phone? hardly. The speaker phone is **** on my nexus.
It looks like it wont work with a case either. I dont understand why they think people aren't using cases for their phones.
Mine is purchased! However I do not need outlandish Fedex overnight for this like I did for my phone
The ones that ordered, please take some pictures and do a review for us.
I'm worried about the not able to connect to a bluetooth headset while docked. I wonder if bluetooth headset is also considered a bluetooth car stereo.
I've never used headsets and don't care to. But I'm about to order a bluetooth car stereo and I'll be pissed if I can connect my Nexus One to the stereo.
Will do Sistum
Waited so long for this. How can it not have an audio out? I'm not going to listen to mp3 and navigation through the built in speakers and not my car speakers. That's ridiculous. Am I missing something here?

As long as you tell the phone to to pair with the dock you should be fine to pair with anything else.
the product description says that the speakers "enhance the in-car music and media experience." How exactly do pathetic speakers enhance audio? what's the point if it has to go through speakers instead of the very common audio jack equipped head unit.
you CAN still plug in an audio jack to the phone when it is docked. but then again i can still plug an audio jack into the phone when it's on the desk dock. I thought the whole bloody point of the bluetooth dock was so that you don't have to plug in the audio jack, what's the point of a bluetooth dock that still requires you to plug the phone in?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I cancelled my order until this issue is confirmed and or resolved. until then, i will continue sitting my phone in a cup holder and connecting an audio cable and charging cable.

Yes! Thank You! Well, I'm guessing that they figure people have bluetooth enabled stereos? Can the N1 even transfer audio through BT? Now I just need to get the BT working lol.

My solution to the lack of aux jack on the car dock.

I agree that having an aux jack on the Nexus One car dock would be pretty sweet, but it is what it is, and I wanted to move on... Here is what I did:
Nexus One (duh)
Nexus One car dock (...)
Kensington LiquidAuxbluetooth car kit: us.kensington.com/html/14484.html
Micro USB cable
Plug the Kensington L.A. into the accessory outlet, and connect the audio output plug to your AUX on your stereo. The L.A. provides a USB port to use for the Micro USB cable. (for charging)
Plug the micro USB cable in this port and route to your car dock.
Once you pair your phone with the L.A. place it in the car dock and setup the audio to be whatever combination you would like. I personally use the dock for calls (because the mic is better) and the L.A. for audio.
One accessory outlet, (no splitters) one wire coming from it to the dock, audio routed through the AUX in your stereo, and (IMO) really great call audio thanks to the dock and noise canceling, which still works with the phone in the dock...
Just sharing my experience, YMMV, IANAL, OMG, WTF, BBQ...

+ 1. That looks like a really good solution. Another benefit you did not mention is that by powering the Car Dock with the Micro USB cable, you do away with the spiral lead that is on the Car Dock power supply. So easier to route and hide.
Any issues with charging the phone and powering the car dock? Isn't the car doc charger higher output than regular chargers and perhaps the one on the LiquidAux?
how's the music sound quality?

No issues I have noticed so far, there is no additional <warmth> on the LiquidAux I have been able to detect, and the phone charges just as quickly as it would when plugged in using OEM adapter. And yes, losing the spiral lead is a nice bonus...

Sound quality for me is great, there is no interruptions, etc I have noticed. But I suspect that this would be a YMMV kind of thing based on the car stereo used and the distance / path (if that even matters with the relatively short distance) between the LiquidAux device and the phone...

awesome writeup... Even if this thing doesn't work to pickup calls I don't care, I always have a bluetooth headset for the car anyhow. I think I'll get an extra socket and mount it all under the dash out of sight.
Even thought you can plug in a wire to the headphone jack I want a solution where I can stick the phone in the holder when I get in, and pull it right out without messing with cables every fricken time... Most the time I don't plug my phone in right now just because of that very reason.
With a nice setup like this I'd plug my phone in every time I get in the car... awesome, Thanks!
Just ordered mine off amazon.. seems like a great price for the product.

The media functions work fantastic with the Nexus, the iPhone does not support track skip, where the Nexus does. I have not been able to get the phone button to start voice dialing like the iPhone does. I have not actually had a call while driving to pickup yet, so I can't say for certain whether that (pickup incoming) works or not...

I have call audio go through the dock, yes. The LiquidAux has a microphone, but it is quite far away from the the speaker's mouth IMO. Additionally, the dock still uses the extra Michael for active noise cancelling and is quite crisp and clear for calls. (I have so far made several outbound calls with great results.) The music pauses, audio routes up to the dock for the duration of the call, then the music resumed on the car speakers automatically...

3.5mm FM Car Transmitter Car Charger - Thoughts??

Hey guys,
Got a HTC Sensation, would like something which does
1. charge while in car
2. fm transmitter (I don't have bluetooth or aux in my car)
3. a holder in the car so I can use gps easier
I found this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5mm-FM...613695?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1c1d79eb7f
Any thoughts??
Any other suggestions?
I'm in Australia.
Many thanks!
Since that one is a universal dock, it seems to charge from the bottom since most phones do. The problem with that is the Sensation's charge port is on the side.
Also, I'm very very picky about audio and FM transmitters nearly always produce static or some kind of white noise.
My solution/reccomendation for cars without an AUX port is to pick up one of these bad boys: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-cassette-Adapter-3-5mm-plug-/110650779646?pt=AU_Electronics_Portable_Audio_Accessories&hash=item19c34ce7fe
It's a cassette tape that provides you with an aux cable.
Then to cover your mounting needs, just get something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Mount-Holder-Charger-HTC-Sensation-Incredible-S-/190560511133?pt=AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item2c5e4aa49d
And it even comes with a car charger.
If you are worried about wires and want this to be a stationary installation, use black zip ties.
If you have any questions or want other suggestions, let me know.
Thanks for the reply constrabus.
Problem is...I don't have a cassette player in the car.
I got something similar off of amazon a few years ago for my MT3G. The FM transmitter worked just fine. I now use it with my Sensation 4G, but my newer truck has an aux. jack so I don't use the FM anymore. The one I got plugs directly into the lighter jack and then I run a USB cable from the side into my phone. I have had it for several years without a problem. Go for it.
I have a fm transmitter with a 3.5 jack I plug it in and it doesn't go in all the way and only plays the left side. Same thing on my EVO but on my transform it goes all the way in and plays both sides. Any ideas on how to fix it.

Docking station for I9000?

Hi guys,
I know there were several threads about this theme, but I thought it might be a good idea to have a summary after almost a year that the device is on the market. I love my I9000, but...
I would like to have a docking station for my Samsung I9000 int. edition just like so many beautiful ones for iPhone. Is there anything similar available on the market which would work as simple as iPhone docking stations: you plug your phone in, choose your music and you get a decent sound from the speakers on the docking station. I was not able to find one. Any help?
It would not hurt if it did the charging at the same time.
What would be in your experience the best solution for this? I would not mind connecting sound line through 3.5 mm jack plug, but what is in your opinion the best solution for < 100 €/$/UK pounds?
Thanks for any advice/help/suggestions...
Pavana
i know that there is the one where u connect it to the micro usb slot but I dont know if it will work fro Galaxy s
A docking station is so early 2000s.
And Samsung made it hard for everyone by putting the usb slot on top of the phone.
Just to re-activate the thread:
I must admit, I am so 2000-ish that I would like to have a docking station (potentially with a loudspeaker that does more than just krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk ) and
this is the only thing I envy those iPhone guys who I can not stand.
So, once again: any suggestions for a dockingstation with some kind of a decent music outcome. Must not be for I9000, but should be usable with I9000 giving decent sound for not more than 60-70 USD (if it is more, than I might just get one from B&O or any other highly-priced that you would kindly suggest).
Regards,
Pavana
You'll have a hard time finding one of those for the i9000/android phones. Best way is to buy this cable and get any cheap iphone/ipod dock
Where I can buy orginal docking station in good price of course?
There's no such thing as a "original docking station" for the Galaxy S.
OK, we got all screwed up with samsungs stupid headphone jack on the top side. But, amongst ourselves we can exchange experience about what is the best combination: We know that we have to charge the batteries independently from music playing. Among all the docking stations, who has good experience with which type of the docking station for the quality of music output when we hook up independently power supply and audio output. Is there any any good Bose system that give GOOD sound output (every power supply will eventually fulfill the function). Do we have to go for the expensive Bose system or are there any (closely) adequate loudspeaker systems which we can hook up to our i9000 to give us good music at home (Sennheiser headphones should do the trick on the go)?
In another words: I have decent Sennheiser earphones for listening to the music from my I9000, but, when it comes to home/lousspeaker system which one would you recommend I can hook up my I9000 to get a decent audio output ? (if you are suggesting Bose systems - which would would you recomennd?).( I do understand that there are no I9000 only docking stations that would give good acoustic output and charge the battery simoultaneously, but I can hook up the battery charger independently of the music output).
As for my earphones - I have a model that has only ear-loudspeakers but no microphone for answering phone - which model would you recommend in order to be able to answer my phone through a microphone on the speaker as well?)
Regards,
Pavana

the original samsung desktop dock exists...
Hi Guys!
This desktop dock can be ordered at Amazon:
Being a noobsta I can't insert the link, so search for:
"Samsung Galaxy S T-Mobile T959 Vibrant Desktop Dock Cradle in Retail Packaging" in google or on amazon.
And actually I could buy it at an official Samsung retailer here in Hungary, so it should be available in other places as well.
There is a truly crap official Samsung App for it, but it is useless.
On the other hand there is an App on the market called Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector.
Once again no link from me, but you can find the app on the market.
The dock has a micro usb for charging and a jack output for audio and with this great app you can redirect the sound to go through the analogue output at the back of the dock.
However now, since I've flashed to ICS 4.0.3 (I9000_STOCKPLUS_ICS_RC4-PLUS) I can't use the app. There is an error message saying "Cannot find supported rom or kernel". I contacted the dev and got the info that it should work on Glitch kernel. I'm still not sure what ICS ROM and kernel combo I should be using so the app is not working yet.
Anyone who has the recipe could share it with us...
Oh and another thing: the usb port on the dock can only be used for charging. You can't connect to PC with it. I donno if this a hardware or software issue, but it would be great if you could truly dock to the PC. Anyone with an experience?
The docked SGS looks really good on your desk

That looks really cool, does the Galaxy simply send audio out via the 3.5mm jack using the micro usb port? I didn't know that was possible.
Ordered one myself thanks, just what i was looking for my car.

This is off of an EBay listing. Didn't get one because of that.
Can someone please verify if it works?

I have one, and it worked great with my SIII, but it doesn't work with the S4. Why does Samsung have to mess with stuff that works?
Hopefully someone will release one for the S4, but I haven't found one yet.
Finally got it today, no go. Is there any way we can redirect audio to export via USB? This would be clutch as hell for a car setup.

Like I said, it worked great with my Galaxy SIII, but for some reason it didn't work with the S4. It drove me crazy, as my setup was so clean before.
Anyway, I ordered the adapter from Grom Audio. (Look it up). It was around $100, and was somewhat of a pain to install and setup, but I have it working now and it works great. My old setup had some hiss/background noise occasionally, but this one does not. The sound is excellent. I have it hardwired to the back of my stock stereo, so there are no visible wires. I simply plug the USB into my phone on its dock, and it charges and plays music/pandora/navigation etc. through the car speakers.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I simply plug the USB into my phone on its dock, and it charges and plays music/pandora/navigation etc. through the car speakers.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I have a USASpec unit already...I was using a FIPO adapter on the ipod end but it was kinda wonky as far as having a stable bluetooth connection. The GROM is also a PIA to install as I would have to disassemble my dash just to plug it in. (The USASpec plugs in via the SAT adapter in my trunk, G35).
I have a feeling this is just a software issue, or at least a resistor issue...I'm not versed in android programming enough to figure it out so hopefully someone that is can figure it out for us.

I'm guessing it's a change in the pin layout in the adaptor. Anyway, now that I have the GROM AUDIO unit, I'm glad that I made the switch. I had to pull apart my dash to do the install, but it was worth it. The sound is much better now, absolutely no background noise or hiss.
