I just realized there is an established thread for this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044131. Disregard
I bought one of these from t-mob when I got the phone, I have been happy with it. I typically dislike using cases as it increases the overall phone size and I don't like dirt and dust getting between the case and the phone. However I bought the phone as I was going back to afghanistan after R&R and thought it would be a sound investment. The plastic is pliable and thick and feels like it would definitely protect the phone in the event I dropped it. I have been happy with the purchase so far, I think I got it for around $25, I'm not sure I would pay $35. the hole for the headphone jack is a little small but I am still barely able to get the jack to seat enough to connect without too much issue. cutouts for speakers, charger, hdmi out, and camera, are perfect. Overall, I feel like I would purchase it again.
The front of the case extends just enough to protect the screen so you can lay the phone face up or face down with no worries.
I, too, am generally no fan of cases...
but I find that my phone spends all of it's time in the speck case, when it's not mounted on my desk dock.
I dig it.
I went with the body glove case. I like it has a belt hoster and a swivel kickstand.
I just got the otterbox commuter series case for my htc desire, its the best case ever. RRP £30 but its £16 on Amazon. its got a silicone case which goes on first then a hard solid shell which goes over the top of that. it covers the headphoen jack and the micro usb slot aswell, there are little flaps that reveal these for use though. it also comes with a screen protector or "invisible shield" which is easy to put on with no air bubbles. it is reasonably thin for a solid case like this
9/10 - great all around but just a bit too thick for my liking
I've had mine for a while. It's taken a nice beating, but my phone is in perfect condition. It would be screwed without it. A lot smaller than the other case, avenger or defender w/e.
I bought for my brother's N900. Too bulky. That much actually I decided against buying one for myself.
Got this case half a year ago and it saved my phone many times. Its a bit expensive but its worth every cent.
I agree this case is totally worth it. Little pricey bit keeps your phone like new. The only thing I don't like is how flimsy the top is because its just rubber.

I've just fitted a new Otterbox Commuter case, very nice but the Headphone jack cover thing doesn't want to stay in place.
good brand and good case

I love my Otterbox (had one for my old BlackBerry, too) since it's saved me quite a few times. I don't have that problem with the headphone jack, but I do have that problem with the cover for the charging/USB port. I eventually cut it off my old one and may do the same for this one as well.
I bought an otter box case for my desire a couple of months back. Since then, i have dropped my phone on hard surfaces about 5 times, but it remains perfect. However, my rubber headphone jack cover has snapped and a small piece of the bottom right corner silicone has been chipped off. Overall, i would say it does a good job protecting the phone, but look for a price region of around £15.
Agree about the price, the RRP of around £30 is stupidiculous! I got mine from an Amazon for £15.

Hi... does anyone know how to clean the shell casing? My hands are a bit sweaty and the shell casing is losing its "shine" a bit.. it's beginning to get dull..

Cheap and easy solution: use the hand wipes you get from places like Chinese buffets. They have a mild solvent on a soft disposable cloth. Cuts the grease and grime without harming the surface of the phone or screen. Doesn't leave any residue either!
Can you attach a lanyard to this case?
With other words can connect a cord to this case?.
And will it fit when you put it into a dock?

It depends which dock...some can and some can't
Nice 1 ive just ordered mine
Too expensive for my wallet, so I bought Soft Jacket 2 Xpose from Capdase.
Cheap in Indonesia, around 10 USD.
At least it's better than the most unknown brand case from China.
looks good, but it looks thick aswell
its a great case.. ive had one since i bought the phone and yeah its a bit pricey but i guess its well worth it
for me otterbox seems bulky
It is bulky. For me simple tpu case and protector are more than plenty protection.
Hey guys,
Recently I bought this and while it looked great at first, it dawned on me that it doesn't tightly fit my device and the bottom part of my Nexus 4 has slipped out of the case a couple times..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FULL-BLACK-...959490?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item56513a4042
So now I'm hunting for a new case. I've had really good experiences with the Seidio case with my Nexus S, but it's proven to be rather expensive compared to what others have offered. Wouldn't mind going back if it's the only case of this category that is the best fit and protection for the device.
I was looking at the Mybat but was concerned about the actual bulk of the device, and it being easy to remove as I often take off the shell from time to time. Also, no one seemed to comment if the case interferes with headphones with L-shaped plugs either.
The other two contenders are Ballistic and Ionic, heard great things from both but unsure which is better. I did hear that Ionic cases attract lint very easily but I do like its price very much. Not a fan of the bubble-back design though. Heard great things about Ballistic, but like the Seidio case, the cost is making me apprehensive about purchasing one.
Mybat: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-Nexus-4-...4?pt=PDA_Accessories&var=&hash=item2a286793ca
Ionic: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00A06Z41E/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3KQDBCHA3FRT9

Seidio: http://www.seidioonline.com/lg-nexus-4-active-metal-kickstand-case-black-p/csk3lgn4k-bk.htm
So what do you guys think would be the best?

I have the iconic and thought it was too thick, so I ordered the Ballistic one and it's even thicker
I'm tempted to try the ACTIVE but I have spent so much on cases it isn't even funny....
Edit...I just bought it on ebay for $24.99 and free shipping.
When i had my gs3 i had a variety of cases including; cheap ebay "tough" cases with kickstands, an otterbox defender (never again), and a ballistic sg. The Ballistic is a GREAT case. It was sturdy, the phone would never pop out, the plastic was nice, and the silicone inner was much better than the plastic inner found on the defender. The silicon not only prevented scratches, but also prevented dust and any other unwanted items in. It almost seals the device. When i bought my nexus 4, i was very dissapointed that there weren't any decent protective cases out. I knew the ballistic sg was coming, but ive had my device since december and needed something for the short term... Something to get so i can wait for the ballistic. I was almost going to buy the case you bought, but i really don't like kickstands. I searched on ebay and found the mybat tough case, I bought it as it met all my requirements; it was cheap, it was protective, it didn't have a kickstand, and it actually looked good. The buyer i bought my case from shipped the case very fast to Australia, (which suprised me, usually these types of cases end up taking about a month) To my suprise, the case was really good quality for the price. The cutouts were (almost) perfect, the fit was pefect, the phone doesn't move about at all. I paid 15 dollars shipped to Australia compared the 70 or 80 odd dollars it would cost me to buy a ballistic shipped. I had the case on for a day, and I loved it...Until I tried to hang up on a phone call... the sensor on the lg is very sensitive, and this case just blocks it enough to stop the screen coming on. This fault was quickly fixed with a drill bit, and since then, i have had no issues, and will continue using this case for the remainder of the phones life. I simply prefer the whole case over the ballistic i had on the s3. However the ballistic was slightly better made, it doesn't warrant even a 15 dollar increase over this case. I love this case. (Note in my pictures the proximity cut out I modified) I did a custom design with sharpie marker on mine and it came out awesome! I wouldn't do this to a more expensive case as id be worried about wrecking it, but since these bad boys are so cheap, who cares. If this broke, i wouldn't think twice at buying another one.
Edit: This case also works with my energizer qi charging mat.
that back is awesome!
FYI the ballistic case works with the LG-WCP700 wireless charging pad. I do however find it is harder to hold on to as it's slippery compared to the Ionic. It's also larger than the Ionic.
I'd go with Mybat (because it's cheap and looks decent) or the Active (because seidio makes a good product and I like the kickstand.)
i also love the look of rugged cases.. been using them ever since my first smartphone
currently i am using this armourdilo case that i saw online.. it is available for sale on mobilefun website or i have seen a seller through eBay AUS...
availbale in a varieety of colours as well although i stuck the standard black on black ...
as well as many youtube vdo reviews bout it.. so i decided to buy it.. really good look and feel..

How easy is it to remove the case once installed? Plus does it interfere with L-shaped headphone jacks?

none of those, i vote for this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/160952016421?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

The case is easier to get off than my ballistic sg on the s3 was. With that said, if i drop it, it doesn't feel as if it will fly apart. The case has interfered with one of my L-shaped head jacks, and works with another.. i just use a simple headphone extender when i want to use those earphones.

Hmmm that might not fly then for me... I listen to music with my phone a lot ... my phone is essentially an Internet-enabled MP3 player that so happens to have a phone function built in lol.

I have the ionic case on mine wasn't too sure from the pictures but I like it and the circles on the back aid grip.
I also dropped it from about 5feet and it bounced on all 4 corners but the phone was fine!
Mate I answered you about headphones, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37912172#post37912172 :silly: I can recommend the tuff case too, it is a solid and very fair priced case.

It does a bit, it is not terrible though, I only really noticed having a look to reply to you!
Second with mybatt.. Cheap and sturdy for the price. Get a good looking one for the less dangerous situations.

I have a pair of Shure Se215 headphones that I use and the connector is angled and fat. I have had a really hard time trying to find a case that doesnt add bulk to the top so I can plug them in.
Any suggestions? I had the same problem back when I had my iphone 4s and I went through about 3 cases before I finally found one that fit (Elago S4 case). I want to avoid bulk at all costs. I don't need a case that will protect much from drops, mostly just from laying flat on its back.

I had to sand the end of a couple headphones plugs down so they would fit into my spigen slim armour case. Not exactly what you want to here, I admit, but the 2 I sanded had a ton of extra plastic on the plug, and doing it affected nothing.
I just looked up those headphones.... holy crap is the end on that thing huge... Maybe you can drill out the headphone hole on a hard case?

I think thats what im going to end up doing. I went to a cell phone kiosk today and they only had a few terrible no-name chinese cases that worked, but I want something more premium.
Got a Spigen Neo Hybrid but I am gonna resell it because nor my earphones can plug nor my USB cables.
I saw the CaseMate Barely There and it looks like it's completely opened on top and USB sides meaning total openness to our earphones and USB :good:
Case-Mate Tough fits my SE535 without adjustment. I've had to cut to expand the openings of my TPU cases.
just get something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/390534336745?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
It plays the music through the bluetooth connection and you plus your headphone into this device. I use this when i'm on the train/subway so there are no wires to get in the way or hooked on anything.
It will probably be cheaper then a premium case anyways
buy something like this, its an 3.5mm adapter for headphones that wont fit into some cases... I have this and it works great!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/15cm-3-5mm-...P3_Player_Cables_Adapters&hash=item3cd00c995b
Drill out the original hole (I use a step drill bit). I've done that on multiple cases for the same reason. Go slow, takes 5 minutes.
BTW, I'm using the Spigen Slim Armor View, not a huge hole. Also I remember iPhones had issues with Headphone jacks not fitting and there was an adapter, that might be an option for ya.

Have you tried an UAG case. The headphone opening is generous. Plus, you will get great protection (even if you don't think you need it) with minimal bulk.

This is the solution most people should use. Spend $2-5 and you don't have to mod anything. Just stick it on the end of your headphones. If not this specific product there are several like this out there.

Except it's really inelegant and ugly.
Since people have already mentioned a number of cases in this thread that fit Shure IEMs, there's no need. Especially when the Tough is about the most customizable out there (check Etsy or Zazzle, there are tons of art/design options).
The slim armor adds thickness to the phone and as a result, i cannot connect my headphone in the 3.5mm jack completely.. it's like 3/4 inside but the phone does not detect it... anyone with the same problem? I have been searching on the net and no one seem to have this problem? is my slim armor a fake one or what?
I'm using a different spiegen case..similar to the slim armor but I forgot what it's called. Anyway I sort of have a similar problem. Normal headphones fit in the jack, but any headphone plugs that are big..like the Audio Technica ATH-M50s do not fit. Just a design flaw..it kind of sucks but I don't really care as much because personally I only use the small headphones when I'm out.
for me it's all headphones I have tried that do not fit.. I think I got a fake one. I have some reviews of the slim armor and they don't look thick as mine and the headphone jack location has a bigger a much bigger cutoff
I am going to cut it manually lol .. overall the "fake" case is pretty good and looks very solid but it's considerably thick... not really slim lol but I am going to keep it as the phone looks much more secured with it
I made the cutoff bigger using a knife.. it's perfect now
