I have the same problem after starting the desktop and the icons bar on the botton, the device show the keyboard but I'm not able to move the cursor with the stylus.
please note that the device shows me only part of the keyboard, seem like that the resolution is wrong.
During the startup the font changes size. can be related to the wrong resolution??
No actions can be done with the sistem.
thanks and let me know if more information is need
This thread made me come up with a new prefix for these threads.
[LNX]
So put [LNX] in threads for Non Android Linux builds. So users can easily identify or search for specific threads.
Spread the word mate
With /dev/input/event3 it works well.
AmiPro wrote a new detection script for touchscreen.
Now Rhobuntu works on HTC ELF.
yo.. you know what is Elfin device code? i got to edit the startup.txt to make this LXDE runs on it. thanks!
Could you post your startup.txt?
Download for new init-script: http://rhobuntu.googlecode.com/files/init
Hello excuse, you could tell me how to replace the init file? I tried to follow the explanation at the beginning of the post, but I could not mount the file ubuntu.img, in any way. I tried with a live ubuntu, but it did not work. I tried to mount the. IMG file with magic disc but can not mount it. I guess not enough to replace the init file in the destination folder? I tried but during boot change the resolution, and the screen remains fixed on a keyboard in the middle where you can not interact. As was the case before ... Could you explain in detail how to replace the init file, or at least to run on the touch rhobuntu elf?If you want to write me a pm. Thanks
P.s. sorry for my bad English

Download Ubuntu LiveCD
http://www.ubuntu.com/
Run liveCD
- copy Ubuntu.img to the root of your harddisk (c:\ for example)
- open terminal
- open folder of Ubuntu.img (cd /media )
- mount Ubuntu.img ( sudo mount -o loop Ubuntu.img /mnt )
- run: sudo nautilus (FileManager)
- select "show hidden files"
- copy new init to /mnt
- close nautilus
- maybe you have to end the nautilus task in terminal with CTRL+C
- umount Ubuntu.img ( sudo umount /mnt )
- copy new init to /mnt
Thank you soo much!!!! Now Rhobuntu run well on my elf!!!!

did you replaced the init file?
Thanks buddy, I managed to get it installed. Mistake was mine, I copied Ubuntu.img file in ubuntu directory. as i moved it out on storage card root, it got installed.
But after installation there was a big key board on screen which i managed to drage down with stylus. but what I feel is the resolution need to be changes as it is showing everything so big.
Also, I tried to make a call to this device, we get ring at device from which I was calling, but there was nothing on the device on which I install rhobuntu. also I could not make a call from here. Can you help me in these cases.
Found something while starting rhobuntu, you may be interested to know.
While starting rhobuntu from haret.exe at one point it shows starting ophono daemon something, where it says can't create signal descriptor file. is it helpful to resolve this issue?
Gourav
Hi,
Got installed the Rhobuntu can access it. Facing two issues on it as follows;
1. Phone function not working as ofono daemon says - can not create signal filedescriptor: Function not implemented
2. Resolution are not as per device.
Please anybody help me to get all this working.

[Q] Problem with Android on HTC

Hi!
I have an HTC Diamond and I'm trying to install Android, but I have some trouble
I read some guides but I'm not able to boot it!
I downloaded an archive with many files: zImage, system.sqsh, rootfs.img, initrd.gz, haret and so on... all of theese were in one zip archive.
I decompressed this archive in the "internal storage" (4GB), modified the "startup.txt" for my device etc...
Now, when I launch "haret.exe", the device start to boot Android until it returns an error: it can't mount sd card!
Why device crashes? how can I fix this?
I hope that it's understandable xD I know that my english isn't so good!
Many thanks to those who respond!
ps: I hope that this is the right sub-forum, if not I pray mods to move in the correct forum

[Q] Pola100 NAND Install

Hello every one!
I have a problem installing Android to my Polaris 100 in NAND, and I hope You can help me.
I followed the tutorial for NAND install on androidhtc wiki.
The problem is when I boot it says: "Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz"
I downloaded from wiki androidupdate.tgz, put it in andboot folder reboot the device with vol up holding then, I selected install update and I get an error: "can`t open /sdcard/andboot/androidupdate.tar no shuch file or directory"
I have noticed the difference in extensions so I opened androidupdate.tgz and saw that androidupdate.tar is inside. I extracted androidupdate.tar from androidupdate.tgz and put it in andboot on sdcard. But i get the same error.
I have also tried with Mixer in latest Atool 1.1.4 to merge androidinstall and androidupdate but on boot i get: "Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz" androidinstall.tar is also from androidhtc the release is system-froyo-all-unodex-15-01-11_18
Thank You for Your time, best regards Ivan
first mode problem:
did you place the file in andboot before click install update?
(left the file as it is, do not extract)
second mode problem:
after merging the module and the androidinstall did you extract and repack?
did you reinstall with the new android install?
@first mode problem
I have tried both, androidupdate.tgz with androidupdate.tar in it, which was originally downloaded as that from androidhtc wiki. And i have tried extracting androidupdate.tgz and put androidupdate.tar in andboot folder but I get the same error.
@second mod problem
Again i tried both ways same error...
I don`t get the last part "did you reinstall with the new android install?", I did not managed to install android on NAND at all.
BTW it`s confusing having files in multiple archives so what`s correct? Androidinstall.tar in androidinstall.tgz or just androidinstall.tar whit system folder in it? When i merge androidupdate.tgz and androidinstall.tgz with Atool I get androidinstall.tgz with androidinstall.tgz in it...
Best regards Ivan

What i think liquid means is:
When you open Atools and you are at the mixer,
you need to apply the right module update and save it!
So here is my suggestion:
Put the Android OS in one folder on your desktop, and the update in another folder on your desktop. Also create a new folder (maybe name it andboot)where you will put the outcome of the mixing aka the new androidinstall!
Open the mixer, load the OS as usual, then click "Module update", and when it asks for a working directory point it to the folder where the update is in!!
Then mix them, and DONT FORGET to save the new androidinstall (wich comes from this procedure) on the folder i mentioned before.
hope i helped
@makousika
Thank You for the tip.
If I undersood correctly, I have to put androidinstall in folder lets call it Folder A, and androidupdate in another folder lets call it Folder B. So when I`m at Mix in atool i should add my androidinstall which is in Folder A, set a working direcotory which is Folder B, which contains androidupdate and click on Module update which download androidupdate...??? Extract it with that button that looks like Debian logo and click on save button to get my new androidinstall.
Well if I did undertood that correctly it does not work for me unfortunately.
Best regards Ivan
No, no, maybe i said it wrong...
Lets call Folder A the folder where the androidinstall is in.
And call Folder B the folder where the update is.
you open the rom mix, you hit the add icon and select Folder A.
Then, you hit the button at the right (looks like a brown box with an arrow poinitng down) the one saying "Module update". If you press it, it asks for a working directory, and you put folder B.
You mix, save, and hopefully you are done!!
If you cant do it, i have a thread where i've put up a build, take a look.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921053
@makousika
I saw Your thread and tried to run Android via Haret, at first it did not work and then it hit me. I was formating my sdcard, and it changed my partition table from primary to logical. I used EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition to reformat my sdcard and change partition table from logycal to primary. Android is working via haret, probably that is why NAND install did not want to start.I will post tomorrow (today) was this really the issue for above mentioned NAND install problem that i had.
Best regards Ivan
Well ill be damned! The problem was in partition table. I have successfully installed android in nand on my pola100.
Best regards Ivan
Hi! I have the same problem in my Polaris 100 (Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz). Kernel 2.6.25 was runing well but wifi wasn't working.

[Q] Htc Hd2

I am trying to install rafdroid and the instructions say to " First of all modify the config.txt file in your build folder, with wince=1 or you will be stuck at bootscreen."
I really don't know how to modify it so could anybody help with this?? Maybe some steps on what to download & how to modify it would be helpful. Any help will be appreciated. Help ASAP if able. Thanks.
I've used rafdroid sd builds looong time ago... but i remember that if you use to start android from winmo you must create a text file (withe Notepad), write "wince=1" and save it in to the android folder in the sd-card otherwise it will work only with MAGLDR.

[ROM][SD-Boot]CM9 (4.0.4 ICS) Based on munjeni {WIP}

CANCELLED! GOT A NEW PHONE
Tried so many methods , non worked , I'd keep trying until one works , then I could port hTC Aria's CM10 to hTC HD MINI and redo all this again so that we can have 4.1 on our devices. Till then , I'd love it if munjeni or schlund helped me with the process , because it seems that the kernel extracted from boot.img needs modification , and that every OS needs its own initrd , I hope someone can help.
Update:
I found the required file's details , I have the ramdisk , I have the system.ext2 , what I'm missing is the required kernel , 3.0.1 , I just need a download link to that kernel, can't seem to find any.
Hi,
So I recently got into Android Development and so far , everything is good.
What I'm doing is using munjeni's CM9 ROM as a base for me to get the boot.img and the files in the folder /system/.
I tried to use iPlasm's CM9 ROM but I got some extraction problems , which I'll look into later.
I'm also using the initrd found in Shlund's posts , and the original HD Photon (Froyo 2.2).
I compared the two initrds and found out that the Froyo one was smoother and had lots of unnecessary stuff and that the CM7 one is better , but it may freeze , so I'm going to test both for maximum results.
To-Do:-Ability to Extract zImage from boot.img Done
-Extract system files Done
-Put System Files into system.ext2 Done
-Use shlund's both kernels and see which one works.
-Create a system.ext2
-Extend Data.ext2's size to allow higher storage on higher SD cards.
If you are willing to help on this project...then please help me with these:
I need an empty system.ext2 in ext3 format (so I can put the system files inside).
Or I need someone to be able to empty the system.ext2 that I have which I got from the Froyo 2.2.
Problems :Currently I'm facing these problems that may get fixed later:
Cannot delete bin and xbin from system.ext2 , which leads to files to be read when they are not needed.
No empty system.ext2 file present.
Cannot Modify the initrd to increase the space , looking forward to use this code:
When using the kernel from munjeni (extracted) all what happens is G1 logo appearing and nothing else.
Bases :
zImage from mujeni's CM9 from boot.img
iPlasm's boot.img
initrd from either schlund's CM7.2 or shlund's Froyo 2.2
/system/ from munjeni's CM9
HARET_PHOTON7227.exe from PhotonAndroid Developement
Startup File from schlund's Startup.
All help appreciated
I found a 200mb system.ext2 , however , whenever i put files in it , the next time I mount it I loose everything I put inside , but everything deleted remains deleted. -_-
Glad to see you're trying to do some,
You should not try cm7 kernel with CM9, You're trying to make CM9 SDcard version so forget about cm7 kernel (you may do only for comparing)
please, try the munjeni's boot.img from (update 04.Jun. for rom 24.May.2012) or mine, because the munjeni's rom (24.May.2012) boot.img is older kernel. the new one includes bluetooth fix (NOT Handset Car).
what i see in system.ext2 i don't think you should empty or even use them, it should be writing in command (terminal) that will create those files into EXT2 file.
here is an example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055923
You can collect more informations in HTC HD2 forums which include SDCard versions,
Have fun,
Will try that , because the kernel from munjeni showed me .T...Mobile and then did nothing. hopefully yours work
I just tried your way iplasm , and guess what , I get the same splash screen G1 TMobile.
any thoughts?

Sorry to say that, this htc mini is not my phone, so I'm so limited to work on it. especially going back to windowsmobile for testing sdcard again. :silly:
Let me say, are you still using both these together froyo and merging them with other? don't do that.. this won't work. froyo things with other ROMs won't work!
You should do one ROM for it's settings, don't catch another things, for example froyo or things.
just those files be their,
1- HARET.exe
2- STARTUP.TXT
and begin to do, and choose the only one ROM you want to make it SDCard version,
about splash screen, it means you didn't applied them correctly, because none of these bootscreen include t-mobile,
I remember the cotulla's version was include AT&T splash screen.

I found the problem , I'm using a new system.ext2 created by me , I put the /system/ files of yours inside , then I took the kernel from your rom , and then I used schlund's initrd (because I compared it to the original initrd and found that the only differences were in :
1-splash screen
2-mounting the sd or mounting the ext/sd
3-order of command execution)
so I found out the Cotulla (the original creator of the init inside the initrd.gz ) has put a G1 .T...Mobile splash screen , and when the kernel is loaded , it is loading it as rom , not as sd boot so it launches the splash screen instead of launching the android bootloader , I'll have a look and see and luckily munjeni will reply to the pm I sent him (he helped me with creating the system.ext2 and the initrd)

look, zImage is Kernel, you're doing to open Kernel.. zImage isn't an Archive file. so You don't need to edit or open zImage
Boot.img contains RAMDISK & Kernel, RAMDISK=intrd.gz, Kernel=zImage
You will need to extract the Boot.img from CM9, and convert them to initrd.gz and zImage,

ok I already did that , but the zImage extracted from CM7 , doesn't match the zImage from CM7 SD Boot (same ROM , same Dev , diff size).
So I wanna extract the zImage so I can modify the Boot section to SD Boot.
it's not easy to edit kernels, just a Q: have you tried from extracted cm9 two files the kernel & ramdisk and rename them to zimage and initrd.gz to SDCard and see results?
and if you really want to modify zimage (needs unpacking and repack), click here: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Modify+zImage+Android
