Most users here are interested in theming the status bar icons (battery, antenna, etc.) to add flashy elements like battery percentage, etc. I'm looking to do the opposite. I'm using a Sense rom (Fresh 3.2.0) and loving it, but prefer the stock Android status bar icons like those in CM6. Is there any relatively easy way to change from the HTC status icons to the stock ones?

Not to hard, you need to get a framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk from a ROM that has the icons that you want then extract them and put them into the framework and resources files from Fresh's ROM. should be in the drawable-hdpi folder. Use adb to push over the new files. Hope this helps

Thanks. I found the framework-res.apk from the CM6 rom, but could not locate com.htc.resources.apk. Any ideas?

I figured out how to make my notification bar transparent, as well as the drag-down bar and status header bar. did it by pulling framework-res.apk, opened with 7-zip, edited the files from within 7-zip (didnt extract them at all), saved the changes, closed up and pushed the framework back to the phone. upon bootup however, once i unlocked the phone i got blasted with a stampede of FCs, all standard google apps and services that run on startup. even after pushing the stock, unchanged framework back, FCs continue. anyone know whats happening?
I think you need to edit the services.Jar file as well

try a fix permissions maybe?
what rom?
im on the stock 8/1 2.2 leak. i figured out a temporary fix, i just modified the files in the smooth sense icons update zip since im using that on my phone, and did the update in recovery that way. it worked, but the only mod that worked was to the notification bar itself, not the drop-down bar or the header, so a services.jar edit is necessary to. which sucks because i dont know how to edit jar files or even navigate them to find what i need to edit lol. im gonna try to combine the smooth icons framework with the services.jar from the 50% shade backgroung update.zip and see how that runs. ill at least have a transparent status background/notification bar. i'll just have to learn java language and figure out the .jar setups on these phones myself and try editing then. i'll get back to you guys in a month
Have you checked out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744256 , which includes which lines to modify in the services.jar as well as the file to make transparent for the drop down?
Need to merge these two into one...
Heck - I'm very tempt to give it a try - i want mostly transparent top bar with 'frosted' icons - basically so if using default launcher pro, the top and bottom of the home screen match.
Plus, with that setup, it will open up a lot of the screen real estate.

yea i have the combined smooth sense icons and 50% shaded status background. i modded it to have a transparent top status bar, but the actual pull down bar itself (the one that materializes when you drag down your status bar) is services.jar related, im guessing, because i edited that in the framework and it didnt affect it. same with the status header, where it says Verizon Wireless.
after modding the status bar though, i was reminded that the individual icons had there own blackish square backgrounds that need to be eliminated, so im gonna be working on those hopefully today (gonna take FOREVER). when all is finished i'll post up screenshots and find out what everyone thinks, then possibly post up a zip of my own (with permission from jercick who did the smooth icons and whoever did the 50% shade) containing these mods.
Stock clear taskbar by Rujelus on first page. If you are themed this will revert lockscreen, notification window etc

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can make a flashable clear/100% transparent taskbar and clear/100% transparent sense bottom bar launcher.
Ideally, the bottom bar launcher would be something like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=385691&d=1282488980
in burst's plurstaralpha theme, which is transparent but with visible interactive buttons
The taskbar would be similar to riptide's current
http://www.johnwishon.com/themes/riptide9.png
In similar threads i've seen at least half a dozen people ask for these things, so i wouldn't be alone in using these.
Anyone who can help, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I've been wanting JUST a clear taskbar for a while now. I don't want 4 million changes in a theme package, it's always one or two things I want. Wish they'd do a lot more splitting up of the mods so you can pick and choose what all you want.
I really want the clear bottom bar launcher. And the 3d app drawer.
What would it take to get all the devs together to create a Theme Kitchen?
Or maybe just the top 5 devs or something. Because there are some really nice themes out there, and like jlechner says, the ability to pick and choose parts out of themes would be really nice.

Going to try something, my method won't be flashable but it might work...
Kitchen definitely would be nice though.

you can get that stuff using launcher pro. but you want to keep the htc sense also right?
pretty sure konikub made one, as I have flashed it. I dont know if I have the zip but im pretty sure if you searched konikubs posts you will find what you are looking for. Here is his 2.2 theme post, not sure if its in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746689
EDIT: I have something called DC-FRESH_AloysiusClearTaskbar-signed, search the forum for it if that is what you are looking for
Here you go, this is completely stock except the two things that you wanted. As far as making a kitchen, I have no clue on that.
RUJELUS22_Clear.zip
How do I remove this? I flashed it and it looks horrible. It's messed up when I swype down to see my notifications. I'm using Fresh 3.1.0.1

Reapply whatever previous theme you had to replace the framework-res package that made these changes i think.
It looks good, and I do appreciate the work you put into this Rujelus, thank you
unfortunately, since I had manup's theming, it reverted my clear lockscreen, clear notification bar, clear calendar widget back to stock and left black bordering around some of the smooth revolution battery, signal etc icons.
I thought framework theming was seperate lines that were added/removed but looks like its more complicated than i thought : /

Like I said this is completely default except the 2 edits. These edits are just pictures inside framework-res and com.htc.resources there is no way that I know of to add something like this to the theme you already using unless you do the edits to the files that you are using right now. When you do an update.zip it will replace the whole file not just the edited parts.
Oh : (
Thank you for your efforts

Rebuilt my theme from the moment http://forum.sdx-developers.com/theme-files/suave-enamored-di18-di06-and-de03-versions-updated/ for the EVO.
Dont let the name fool u it will diffenetly have sense
This theme has a modded services.jar taken from the azreal rom. So if your runing a different rom that has a modded services.jar u will lose those changes. As always nand backup b4 u flash

note: do not flash more then one zip at a time. flash theme then reboot to system then flash clock

PLANNED FUTURE CHANGES:
power controls in the notification bar
themed htc widgets
This theme has only been tested running the newest azreal rom based on the 3.70 ota. But should work with any 3.70 rom.
I'm not responsible if u turn your lovely evo into a paper weight
Having a problem, i have been trying to make the notification pulldown transparent and i made the png transparent, but now it just shows a black background. So i'm assuming there is a second background controled by a xml file or another png. Does anyone know what i have to edit to get it fully transparent?
FIXED
Reserved for my use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748868&highlight=Transparent
2.2 requires an .xml edit in the services.jar to allow transparency in the notification background.

Thank you, thats what i was thinking. So i guess i will go poke around in the service.jar. Themeing the evo/2.2 is way more involved then 2.1/other phones
Looks good, can't wait... Thanks
Looks pretty sweet. My chick would love this on her evo

it's not an xml edit... you just need to resize the png to fit. it uses a small png and tiles it. so just resize it to 480x800 and you're cool. i've been modding those far a long time.
Oh, nice clock, by the way... if you are going to use my clock, can you please use my download link instead, thanx.
you want power widgets with custom themed pulldown backgrounds and pulldown bars hit me up...

What!!!!! your asking me to give away my trade secrets? Just Kidding!!!! In gimp right click png go to image=mode=switch to RGB mode. Now u should be set to change color.
Also quick note Not sure if u know but the signal bars are actually in the com.htc.resources.apk and are named cdma_sys_6signal_X
I did not know that's where they were. Thanks I am going to give that a try.

Thanks. Worked great. Now my next question is where is the location and location off png I have checked all pngs and can't find it ,, I could be overlooking it but does any one know the correct file to look in ?? Thanks

I believe what u are looking for is the gps pngs and it is in the com.htc.resources.apk and the pngs are sym_gpsone_3_sprint for gps off and sym_gpsone_0_sprint for gps on
I was wondering if it's possible to edit a ROM after download. I'm currently using H3Y3BRIDTH3ORY and I'm not a fan of the circular battery at all, so I was curious if we're "allowed" to edit a ROM to bring it back to the stock battery with percentage and how I'd go about doing that.
you can theme it anyway you want. xpack is working on themes for it currently, you might get with him about it.
Check out UOT kitchen, you can do a lot there, or you can just swap out the icons from a Rom that has stock battery icons on your pc using winrar or 7zip. The battery icons are in framework-res.apk and there are 200 of them.
I tried going there already and was very confused.
Is there a way to change the colors of the wifi/data, phone signal and battery icons in the status bar? I'm currently using weapon 2.4, so I'm rooted and was wondering if it might be a simple file edit to do so. If there is an app that lets you do that, I haven't found it yet but I would love to know how they work so I can potentially assign each icon a different custom color. Thanks in advance for any help.
--UPDATE--
ok so from what i've read so far it looks like i'm going to be editing some lines in the classes.dex which i extracted from the services.jar file in the framework folder. when I open up the classes.dex with baksmali i cannot find the \com\android\server\status\StatusBarIcon.smali file .. not just in that folder but anywhere within the expanded classes.dex archive. Is StatusBarIcon.smali where I'll be able to change the color of the icons in the notification bar or am I completely off track here?
You want to change the color of the icons? They are png files in the SystemUI.apk, so either pull them out and edit them in some photo software, find icons you like and add them, use a theme, or use UOT Kitchen.
do you have the "Theme Chooser" app on your phone?
If so, you might want to check out some themes and install one of those
or use Metamorph or a zip application to make your own
and remember, always backup your rom
Just use NinjaMorph, and edit SystemUI.apk... If you're looking to make them green, check my thread in the Themes section.
