Hi all, so i have a particularly peculiar situation that happened to me the other day...I tried to root my rogers htc dream and i ended up failing but everything still booted and seemed to be the same..A few weeks later my friend was playing with my locked phone and activated a bug where the phone permanently locks and asks you for your google login information but doesn't accept it..Then when i rebooted my phone into recovery menu it was different then i remember (that is it was running cyanogen mod 1.2 JF)..i tried ot restore my phone but no go...then i tried to install a new mod (the new cyanogen mod) but it failed and now my phone is not booting past the rogers splash screen. I try accessing the recovery menu or the fastboot menu and both do not work/respond. What should i do? I need to get my phone working...the data on it is not important..i just want to get it rooted running android 1.6 donut...Thanks a lot everyone
Anyone? i can't access the recovery menu or the flashboot menu...what should i do?
Try posting in the Dream subforum where the people who specialize in that device hang out. The general forum probably won't yield much help.
so i tried to add a different ROM onto my phone today and i flashed DamageControl v2.09.01 and it went to the black HTC screen then sprint animation then white htc screen. now it just keeps going back and fourth through the white htc screen and the sprint animation screen. I really need to fix this, any suggestion are greatly appreciated.
Are you able to get to your boot loader? If so, you should of did a nandroid backup so you could restore. If you didn't and your boot loader doesn't come up you pretty much have a paper weight to play with.

i recently rooted my htc one s and i went to flash it for the first time. I accidently didnt back it up and wiped my phone. I tried to satisfactory reset my phone and it still doesnt work. my phone is completely wiped and stuck on boot loop. Anyone no how to fix? Telus HTC One S Canada
Me and my girlfriend have two HTC Explorer and since yesterday the phone of my girlfriend have problem with boot.
In first step, I try remove and put the battery again and when turns on the phone the htc logo appear in the screen and after a few second the screen is black with backlight on.
I don't understand the reason for this problem, because the phone isn't rooted, the bootloader is locked and have a stock rom, for this I applying a factory reset through bootloader, but the phone continues with problem.
Without alternative, I unlock bootloader and rooted phone to install a new recovery (TWRP and clockworkmod) and some custom roms (CM9 for example) and stock roms.
I tried everything that exist for this model in XDA, from install all recovery, all custom roms including NAND Recovery.
I have my HTC Explorer rooted and custom roms, my htc bricks many times when i try install new custom roms, but i never had this problem with my phone. Always get fix my phone.
Please, someone help me?
Sorry for my bad English.
Thanks
Hi, my wife has a HTC one xl and it is stock. Recently it has started to go into a boot loop and it will not boot up. She has since bought a new phone but would like to recover SMS messages from her mother who has only recently died. I have experience in rooting devices and installation of custom Roms but I don't know where to start with this and don't want to lose the data. I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have tried to boot into recovery from the bootloader but it doesn't seem to work. I have attached photo's of the various screens but when I select the option to boot into recovery I get two green circular arrows and another pointing down for a short time then it goes back into the boot loop (Image below). Is there a way to get this to boot up without losing the data/SMS messages? Thanks.
