I want to use Location Spoofer to spoof my GPS location. In it's description it says:
"Spoof your device location, make it appear to be in another place.
A simple utility to set a fake wireless networks location.
You have to allow mock locations under Settings -> Applications -> Development
(rooted phones can spoof location with mock locations disabled, move the app to /system/app to get that)"
I want to be able to spoof my location WITHOUT checking the "allow mock locations" option checked.
My Droid X is rooted with Z4. I can't see the apps in the data folder. I thought I would be able to once I was rooted? What a I missing?
I used Atsro to view folders and files, but the data folder was empty.
you have to use root explorer or super manager and move the .apk to /system/app

Great! Now where is the APK installed by default? I thought I knew but I guess not.
Let me do some exploring real quick
edit: they save to /data/app

Ok, now I don't see a /data folder. I see it when I use Astro File Manager, but it is empty. Using Super Manager, I don't even see the folder at all...any idea why?
I believe you have to enable root in super manager. Let me check (I use root explorer)
Edit: enter "File Explorer" and then hit your menu button and select "Setup" then "Enable ROOT Function" then hit "Back up level folder" a couple times and you should see the /data folder

I have moved it, but when trying to open it, it crashes.
Easy
Root your device
Install Root Explorer.apk (google search)
Open Root Explorer. Then copy your app .apk file to root/system/app (check if you choose RO instead of RW).
Reboot and enjoy!
Do adb push n set permissions

I figured it out, thanks for the help This post was really helpful :victory:
What if I use root explore but it just restarts the phone instead of actually transferring to system?
The phone is rooted and it's an HTC One m8 I've tried multiple apps to move it to the system but none of them work.
When I tried to transfer the apk to the /system/app, Error is displayed - "The item base.apk could not be written". This is after giving the permission to modify the /system/app folder. Any help is appreciated!
I rooted my phone and have the fake gps thing, but when I go to system mover app and try to make it a system app, it says done, reboots, and it has Uninstalled my app, wth

Open file explorer. Go to system/app folder. Search for moved app and install again. If it not moved then other app mover apps.
Its actually system/priv-app.. Either way, better use link2sd or any other such app to move the fake GPS pro to system app. Then reboot.
ICS is great and all but is there a way to hide ringtones and small music files that show up in the music library? MIUI had a file size filter so is there anyway to get that on ICS music player too?
I think if you create a blank file with name .nomedia in the directories which you don't want the media scanner to add to its database, it will do the trick for you.
To create such file, the easiest way I find is to use Android Terminal Emulator program. just go to the directory using "cd" command and then give "touch .nomedia" command.
anyway I can create this file on windows? im not too familiar with android stuff yet
edit: ok i downloaded the terminal emulator, and entered the exact following:
cd
touch .nomedia
I get : touch .nomedia Permission denied
superuser does pop up asking me to give permission or anything, what should i do?
fellaws i want to replace my stock apps with the advanced ones available on google play like my files with es file explorer. but when i install it the es file explorer is added instead of replacing the old my files app. this is just an example. i want many other apps replaced.
i am using custom rom with rooted samsung 5670.
please tell me the method.

Installing one app, does not replace another app. If it is a newer version of the same app, then it will update the old one.
You can install all the file explorers you find on the play store, and you will have all of them installed at the end and they won't replace each other.
The only solution is to uninstall the app you don't want. In your case: My Files.
But My Files is a system app (talking about a samsung tw rom?) and you can't uninstall it normally. You are rooted so you can uninstall it. Use an app like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp
There are many more like it.
Beware though, if you uninstall critical system apps, your phone might not work properly any more. Make sure you know what you're doing.
And also, you won't be able to remove some apps for various reasons.
Edit: One other way to remove system apps is to use a browser like Root Explorer or Root Browser, navigate to the location: /system/app or /system/priv-app and remove the app from there. But again: USE CAUTION!!
Cheers
Replace apps
thank you for your reply.
i know how to uninstall system apps with my rooted phone. now let me explain to you my real problem.
i have some files which i want hidden. now the ES Explorer does the task and requires password to show hidden files . BUT anyone can see them using the option in "my files" that is "show hidden files" . Hence it is an application that nulls the security enhancement provided by the ES file Explorer:crying:.
so i thought that i should uninstall the "my files" app but when i did this, other apps like Camera and Gallery stopped working and i had to re-install the "my files" app.
But i have seen custom Roms in which one or two stock apps are replaced by other advanced apps. Can you tell me the process?

Unfortunately no. I do not know all the dependencies between apps. And I don't think you can change dependencies for an app. These are hardcoded inside the app itself. As an example, I have a galaxy s4 and use custom ROMS based on cyanogenmod. It's impossible to have the camera app from the stock Samsung rom because of the dependencies required for the app to run.
I think you need to find a different approach. Try maybe protecting them somehow instead of hiding them
Good luck
Hi everyone,
There is a way to find the .apk of apps downloaded from playstore. ull need root and root browser, we will use here esfile explorer. open esfile explorer and press top left-->tools enable root explorer and show hidden files, then go to local-->device now go to file data-->app and thats it, to find system apps u can go to device-->system-->app.

Pull Apk in Non-Rooted Device.
There is no need of a rooted device,
you can pull the apk by using following techniques.
//_______________________________________________________
A) Using ADB
1) Determine the package name of the app, e.g. "com.whatsapp" (WhatsApp).
if you don't know the package name, you have 2 options to get the package name
i) Visit play store and search for the desired application, The link of the app contains the package name. "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp" (WhatsApp) where com.whatsapp is the package name
ii) use command "adb shell pm list packages" , this will list the package name of all application installed.
2) Once you know the package name, get the apk installed path by using command "adb shell pm path com.whatsapp"
it will return the apk path of the application, like this
package:/data/app/com.whatsapp-2/base.apk
3) Now to pull apk, by using command "adb pull /data/app/com.whatsapp-2/base.apk"
Apk will be extracted to the same folder where adb is present
//_______________________________________________________
B) Using ESFileExplorer
1) Open ESFileExplorer and navigate to User Apps either by (swiping left to right twice) or (goto APP under Library in Navigation Drawer)
2) Select App you want to pull, and click on Share.
3) Share the Apk to another device via Bluetooth or to desktop via AirDroid,

ur right however, not all system apps are present using the second way, and first way is complicated for some people and might confuse them. if someone would want to change something he saw on google, that is connected to system apps or other stuff"like systemui" i think rooting and copying the apk from its directory is best. btw thanks for ur concern about this, believe it or not for the first 7 month i posted this it posted in android wear, and no one was commenting, i made it with the xda app, i think it has alot of bugs.

IMO, if one is able to root the phone, then he will certainly not find any complication in pulling apk using first way.

u might be right bro but rooting is only downloading a file and flashing it through odin.
Hello all, I have a very big problem: If I open an app that needs to interact with my file manager, when I try to save some data or pick some file the app crash.
For example: I have a Logcat app, If I try to change the position where I want to save the logs, the app crash.
Same for another app that needs to pick a file from the file manager. If I tap on "select file" the app crash.
In my opinion apps don't find the file manager installed in my terminal, but I don't know how to fix the problem (I have already tried with different file managers). Maybe there is a sort of block in my android rom?
thanks all for your help!

TBH: This is too simple explained.
You need to explain what sort of files you want to open from which source (Folder...)
You need to explain where you want to store which files.

I'm so sorry. I will try to be more specific.
First of all, I find a specific error regarding one of this app:
android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.OPEN_DOCUMENT typ=/ (has extras) }
Regarding this specific error, the app should make me select a .db file. But As I said before, crash every time I tap on "select file"
The other app is called logcat reader:
Logcat Reader - Apps on Google Play
View your device's logs
play.google.com
And crash every time I try to change the folder where the app save the .txt log.
My android version is 11. Actually my file manager is Google file
Files by Google - Apps on Google Play
Clean up your phone, find files, play media, and share files offline
play.google.com
If you need more details please let me know.

I never tried to read the logs on the unit... Download it to the PC and open it in Notepad++.
On top: You can read the logs in Logcat app itself, if it´s really needed.
I still don´t get your intention for changing folders at all.

It was an example.
The problem is that every time an app require to work with the file manager, the app crash.
For example:
I have a music app, and I need to restore a backup (.db) of my song, but I can't open the backup file, because every time I try to tap on "select file" the app crash.
With the logcat I discover that this is the error:
android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.OPEN_DOCUMENT typ=/ (has extras) }
I don't know how I can fix it. Do you have any suggestions?
Sorry, I have no idea what is going on on your unit.
