[Q] Long Term HTC sense ROM? - TG01 Themes and Apps

Hi guys, i have kind of finished with flashing roms on my tg01, i am going to put it at rest on a permanent rom. I have been using the rom in my signature for a month or so. There is a newer version but apparently not stable But this ROM is VERY good, it satisfies most of my needs. However i would like to know if someone could pls suggest other roms they have tried, that suit my needs:
1) Good RAM running Sense, no less than 50mb at any time. (i currently use arto's start removal, and manilla startmenu)
2) Speediness (good considerable speed, less lag etc)
3) Good ROM storage amount on flash
4) Bug Free (least bugs as possible)
5) Good battery life
6) Latest manilla versions (2.5 2016/2017 etc)
7) Stable!! (bug free messaging, prefably wm standard messaging, good sound quality, no random resets)
I am not really that bothered into the OS, but prefably i would pick 6.5
im sorry, does a rom like this even exist or am i dreaming ?
Please suggest me some good ROMS,
Thanks

It seems that you are dreaming
I nearly tried most of the roms here and this one is the best till now
Disabling start menu you have around 55 mb in ram which is very fair, and the battery consumption is good too

wait for k01 rom it can do magic i feel.
Android on way.

Which Tomal version is best?

Hi ive noticed that some users still have v8.5 and some have flashed back to this after trying some version of WM6.5 so was just wondering what is the reason for using 8.5 and not updating to 8.9, Is there anu bugs or better features etc etc.
Also curious of opinions on the best overall WM6.5 rom for a 64mb uni.
Well
I can say I have tested almos all
So in general all versions are very good
8.2 and 8.5 are very stable, fast and exelent battery life
8.9 is also very good but as has more visuals is a little bit slower than the other versions
6.5 is fantastic!! wonderfull visuals new UI good battery life but is not as fast as the others (6.5 eats more RAM and program memory)
My recommendation is test all! and decide for yourself
i think 8.90.... for 64Mversion....
I personally like 8.9, but until then went through all Tomal's ROMs from way back when it was still Ranju. I have 6.5 running on my testing Uni, I am unable to use it in everyday life due to RAM restriction, it means most of my programs don't run and I am out of memory even without anything fancy running. I quite liked 8.2 and 8.81 as well.
I have a separate folder in my WM folder called 'Tomal', it has a collection of Tomal's ROMs
I flashed 8.9 and 6.5 but I came back to the one on my sig.. to each is his own I guess.. 8.81 is fast enough and has reasonable free space to load apps.. for me at least..

Memory Problem

Hi guys
I'm new to all this, just got a Touch Pro the other day dirt cheap which was so slow it was almost unusable. I've flashed hard spl and a rom with Mobile 6.5 rather than the stock 6.1 but sinse doing this the total memory available has changed from 288 to 200 and the % usage has risen to 26%ish before to 42% now on bootup.
Could someone please explain this, do I need to make changes to the pagefile or something?
Also I'm looking for a mobile "msconfig" to change startup programs that are loaded to free up more memory could anyone help me with this?
Thanks
Unless you're actually getting memory errors or the phone is locking up, I would say you don't have a problem. Just ignore the different values (are you sure you had 288 M of ram; I don't think so). 200 M of ram is plenty, and you should be glad you're using more. If you don't use it, it's kind of pointless. More ram usage usually means things run faster. Trust your chef.
SK Tools allows you to tweak your startup (among many other things). But unless you actually have a real (and not perceived) problem, I wouldn't worry about it. People get way too caught up in the % ram. I don't even use the quick menu any more, and it's kind of a relief to not see it all the time.
You can decrease the page pool with a page pool changer or hex editor. It sounds like you have a 14 M page-pool, which seems pretty reasonable. If you drop the pagepool to 6 M, you have another 8 M of available ram, but your ram% will go up. I'd just forget about it if I were you. Trust your chef.

Like Ted said, the numbers you are reporting are not an issue at all. Be careful tweaking your page pool too much. I use Memaid to tweak my settings and find that the devices default settings, which are the ones cooked in from the kitchen, provide the best performance.
Thanks for the replies but the reason I asked is because the Touch Pro has 288mb of ram total which was displayed in Win 6.1 while 200 is reported as the total in Windows 6.5, and the fact the % went up so much reflects the error in the amount of memory detected for use. I know the % don't mean much but it looks like i have 88mb less available to use?
Thanks I'll look into SK Tools.
Cheers
I think you're getting the 288 MB ram from the specs (it's the size of the chip, I guess, but not the amount of free program memory); that's not the available ram, though, in use. I have no idea how much free ram I had on the stock fuze rom, but it wasn't anywhere near 288. I currently have 197 M free ram with a 16 M page pool on a 6.5 rom. Your ram is perfectly normal, it's what everyone has. Flash back to the stock rom and see how much ram you have then-it won't be 288. (Now that I think of it, I think I had ~200 M free on the stock rom.)
There's no error in the % ram at startup, either. That is entirely by design. If you want to see a lower number, use advanced config to either lower or disable the caches. Then enjoy the low program memory usage and the sucky experience. More ram usage = better performance. You still have 110 M of free ram at startup. That's more than most devices have in total. Use it. Enjoy it. Don't waste it by not using it. That is my advice to you.
If you don't believe me, just take look at NATF's 6.1 rom vs. his 6.5 rom. He's got 193 M free ram in the 6.5 rom (with a 20 M page pool), and 200 M free ram in the 6.1 rom. Not sure what the PP is in the latter, but I suspect it's 16 M. You can also look up stock or stock-like roms in the rom forum. They're all going to be in the same ball park, depending on the paging.
Ok thanks, I was raising the issue as well because I have a Sony Experia running a similar rom with less memory on the board but it still reports 200mb and it feels quite alot smoother than the htc, and not just with touch 3D, is this the general concencus that experias for whatever reason are faster?
Thanks
Not too many people have xperias, so I couldn't tell you. Does it have a faster processor? I couldn't tell you why it feels faster. Try some different roms until you get one you like.
The processor is the same and I am using one of the most popular cooked speed roms on here.

Suggestion of ROM

I'm waiting for my XDA Exec to come
Can anyone suggest a good ROM with long battery life, short of bugs with lot RAM memory for a good start with Uni? I'm not new to Windows Mobile but only to Universal's forum and don't know much about ROMs for 64mb RAM mem. Every I find new is for 128mb recommended amount of RAM.
No matter if it's 6.1, 6.0, 5.0 but 6.5 takes too much memory for 64mb RAM device i think and wouldn't be good but i love colour background in menu
Go for Tomal WM6.1 8.2 or 8.5 versions
Those ROM´s are very stable and good performance and battery life
Yep!
Tomal dose amazinbg Stable and quick running ROM
I'll have a pdaViet ROM but don't know what one exactly for that moment.
Just waiting to come a parcel via mail.
PS. Someone will ask me why I bought Uni not something new
It's one of the best PDA at low price (toshi g900 is good too but have smaller screen dimensions) and I bought a modem so WiFi and big screen would be good to Internet browsing and a hardware keyboard is good for that too.
Well to suggest i'll go for Tomal or Luca15thebig. as they are the 2 most active chefs here in uni so you can expect lots of surprises from them...
Thanks for your help guys
I'll test Tomal and Luca15thebig roms. PDAViet Rom that I have now is good too, without bugs and Ram almost always stay on 27mb free. Don't know how's with battery life because my ac adapter came broken and I have to wait for a week to change to another.

double post that was in post #6
I'm using Tmobile + SDhc support on wm5 - the fastest, most responsive and most stable rom I've tried so far. Being using it with 8GB for some days now and no hang up, everything just works smoothly fine. If only someone could add flash disk on it, this would be definitely awesome!!

yes wm5 roms are stable as it was originally used in uni.. but wm 6.X were ported and does add more functionality are fast and stable depending on the rom... well it's the matter of personal judgment so some might like wm5 some might like 6.1 and some might like 6.5...

[Q] RAM question

Whats the best rom for low RAM usage? Please share your opinions so I can choose one rom haha
Thanks a lot!
Depends on your needs. Only for phone calls? Gambling? Chatting?
Slim ICS is pure basics.
I use BLACK ICE KANGORADE after testing a lot of ROM's with AirKernel 4.2 'cause it's the best allround ROM. Fantastic battery life, big mem support for a lot of apps, stable.
The best would be you test a few selected ROM's. Each 2 days a new ROM.
BLACK ICE KANGORADE, AOKP B38, KangyUltra, ASOP+ N8, MIUI, CyberGR.....
Like stated earlier, depends on your needs. You may benefit a little from bigmem support kernels if you do a lot of gaming. If it's just for day to day use, most ROMs offer the same RAM usage. Keep in mind Android handles RAM very well on its own. Just use trusted apps and you should be good(no memory leaks).
Sent by pocket technology.
CM9 Roms are really good for having a good amount of ram
°N€×U$ $⁴G°
what's important is that you have to manage the memory yourself, this will make a bigger impact on ram than the rom does. get rid of anything you don't need: light weight launchers like Launcherpro uses 200k memory if you minimise the widgets, and FORCE STOP Facebook services when possible, it takes A LOT of ram. use no more background services than neccesary, clock/weather widgets uses ram because of their background services. i perfer slim ics, its da best.

ICS based ROMs (Viper, Elegancia) vs CM 12.1- Which runs better?

So I had to sell sell my current phone and I am going to use my sensation again for the next 2 months. I have tried the unofficial CM12.1 ROM and it is running surprisingly well, however CPU and RAM are constantly at 100%, rendering some simple tasks like Web browsing impossible (phone crashes).
l was thinking that the older ICS-based ROMs like ViperS or Elegancia may be better in terms of performance. Maybe the hardware of our favourite phone just isn't built for the software me have now...
Maybe there is a third alternative? What would be the best ROM for the Sensation in terms of performance?
ViperS is JB-based (4.1.2). Experiences can vary on a per-device basis, I personally find CM12.1 sufficient and issue-less, save the RIL bugs.
