Making FREE a G1 unlock code calculator - G1 Android Development

Hello,
I bought a T-Mobile G1(it was originally donated for testing of a Open-Source project ) for tying to reverse engineer an unlock code calculator.
Since those scam sites did it i may able to it to.
So i am here to asking it if bought some codes ( and it worked of course ) if you can paste it here and the respective IMEI to help me get some relations whit it.
If you that someone did a calculator before ( and is Open-Source of course please tell me ). Also another ways of passing the unlock will be welcome.
I will keep you informed of my study.
Regards,
Alfredo Palhares

i had a code about a year ago, cant find it, but u can get one by calling tmobile if u have a g1 or mt3g for 3 or more months

If you want to share your code and imei with him, I suggest doing so in private. This is personal information that should not be shared in public.
Also be certain that you TRUST him with this information.

Unlock codes bought online come from HTC's database. There is no algorithm, as they are randomly generated and assigned. So these efforts will not get you anywhere, I'm afraid.
And don't post IMEIs in public - someone can easily block your phone with it, certainly in the UK...

a question comes to mind, how were the old htc unlockers created e.g. for the hermes and the kaiser? they must have used algorithms otherwise how else would they have been possible? if thats true, could there be an algorithm that cracks the random generation of the unlock codes for the HTC android phones?

If you are referring to the free apps that unlocked the phones, as far as I know (so maybe not completely correct) they actually crack the phone to make it think it is not locked, they don't calculate the code.

i was going to post mine. i would have loved to contribute but why not make the info public.. it cannot hurt anything

IMEI's are actually open to abuse. I'm not saying the thread starter isn't trustworthy, but I don't know for sure that he is. If you want to cooperate with the opening poster, that's fine, and it's your risk - private message him the information. In that case, the info isn't public for potential abusers either (who can just Google for these numbers).

Would be nice but not possible

Everything is in flash.
It is a matter of figuring out WHERE in flash, and being able to read/write to those addresses. The JTAG thread is a good starting point.

It would be just as easy to call HTC and beg.
Otherwise call TMobile and wait patiently for them to get around to call HTC, for HTC to get around to find it and sent it to TMobile, for Tmobile to get around to e-mail you the code.
I just thought it was funny people publishing their codes and the Mods running in to delete them, for their own good.

Ahh I didn't realize anyone could do anything with your imei, anyhow that was my old phone's imei and unlock code, the phone's in a million pieces anyway so no harm done I guess

Older phones used an algorithm to calculate an unlock code. The algorithms got cracked and the unlockers appeared.
HTC took a different approach of assigning a random lock code to each phone and retaining a private database of the IMEI/unlock codes which they could tightly control.
So a software solution is unlikely, but as you can get the unlock code through normal channels, it's not really necessary.

28 days
it took 28 days for my unlock code to come through from t-mob, but have an orange sim in it now and i am just plucking up the courage to root and put froyo on.

Did you not read the rest of the forum lol, posting your IMEI is bad...

especially if you are in the UK... Plus, wrong section -_-
Just buy a code off ebay for about 7 USD, not too hard and you receive it instantly.

@tlc033,
I believe that there are ways to do this. However, as far as I know it is illegal to change the IMEI in any phone. I could be worng though, it has happened once before. Try to google it, you might stumble upon an answer (or two)...
THX a lot for reply.
I try google. "it is illegal to change the IMEI" - i know, but i can't SIMunlock it (HTC touch Elfin - operator A1 austria http://www.a1.net/), i try for 12 times and nothing. The generated code is wrong. How can i unluck it ?
Check with your operator when they are able to give you the right code....
IMEI is the serial number of the phone and as you see, it's unic.... more, I think the number is mostly engraved in the phone... Pretty sure that you can not change it.
by modifying SPL area it can run some type of IMEI command
Unfortuanately this is one of those subjects we're not supposed to discuss on the forums as it's illegal in most, if not all countries.
it's illegal everywhere
and the Moderators and Admins look down on Threads dealing with this... which is a good thing, because if they would allow something like this, they would have to deal with the Authorities sooner or later...
as far as i know, you can contact your provider and ask them to unlock your phone free of charge... of course, i think this happens after some time. for example, for US tmobile, you have to wait for half a year.
have you looked at the elf sub-forums regarding this...I am pretty sure sim unlocking is discussed...
just checked- sim unlocking is discussed.. for both the elf and elfin.
It´s illegal if you change the IMEI for illegal unlocking purposes. But if you do a research for educational purposes or, more understandable reason, repairing a phone, well I think this is not illegal. And, after all, it is not illegal to make the application, the problem comes when you use it for illegal purposes.
For example, the reverse engineering proceses uses hex-editors. But it´s not illegal to develop those type of application.

[Q] How do they get unlock codes?

Hi y'all! While doing some research on unlocking phones I see some threads mentioning other sites that do unlocking codes and i was wondering...
How do these people find or calculate these codes?
Do they have an inside person working for the specific company?
What do you mean ??? Rooting???
You can find this here with superclick or Gingerbreak
Rooting is NOT what he Means ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_lock
Unlock code are calculated Based on the IMEI number,Mostly Network Provider gives the network unlock code,But nowadays people need the unlock code soon,so they getting the unlock code from online sites and unlock it...Because network provider gives the code after some daysBut online sites ,you can get the unlock code soon, they are gather from network data base using some IMEI Number calculation, they only know that,I am also unlocked my phones using the unlock code got from Online site named as
Prounlocking.com/supported-phones/rs8wp7/
I am stunned that no one has any info about this. What software/tools are people and companies using to unlock phones? Somebody has to know. What a sad world where everything is for profit and no one cares about sharing knowledge or information. Any hackers around that have principles and believe in freedom of information? How do these companies get the unlock codes?

Let me guess. You joined XDA because you want to unlock your device for free, rather than actually having to spend a few dollars to someone else, or paying a few dollars to your mobile network?
Simple truth of life - if there is money to be made, people will make money.
With modern devices it's not as simple as it used to be. It used to be that with a lot of the devices there was a simple algorithm to generate the unlock code, hence you could find software online that would give you a code for free. Now it's not that simple, or the software would have been written and still exist.

Dude, I could care less about money. I joined XDA for my own reasons--assume what you want and see how much I care.
I would gladly pay for software/tools that are used to get unlock codes. I just don't want to have to pay someone or some entity for an unlock code. I want to know how they get the unlock codes. Isn't anyone else curious at least? Anyone know anything?

[Q] Rooted, 4ext recovery, sim locked.

Trying to just sim unlock. Still S-on, no roms flashed yet other than the recovery and super user thing. (which works according to the terminal emulator.)
No just trying to unlock it so I can stick in my tmobile prepaid sim. They tell me once the phone is unlocked I can just drop it in and everything will be fine.
Problem is, the only way to unlock it I can see is to screw around with downgrading my firmware, using ace to unlock and then bringing i5t back up to date and none of the methods seem current. They virtually all have dead links or are for earlier version of everything.
Having managed to root (more or less, still s-on) is there any way I can get the unlock code for my imei without having to pay someone or go beg at&t in person?
Or can someone confirm for me with some kind of citation that unlocking an htc inspire is not possible even when rooted?
Thanks very much for your time
After thought: would flashing MIUI or some other rom sim unlock my phone?

Thank you for responding
I've been all over that site. Starting here: (I'm not allowed to post links) *sigh*
And I can't find anything relevant to my particular combination of circumstances. I've been googling and reading all day.
Could you provide a more specific link?
To my understanding the ace hack method will require me to relock my phone and then employ it to unlock it, but this will also entail a down grade of my radio firmware. I would like to avoid that because the ace kit is apparently no longer supported and I'd like to not risk bricking my phone with an extraneous process. (relocking with the intent of unlocking.)
What part of the phone controls the sim lock? Is s-off relevant in this context? In a sense search engines, forum or Google, are worthless because of the sheer number of variables and old answers. This problem is made infinitely worse by the general trade for forums to outlaw "necro posting." (Which preserves outdated information while simultaneous severing links to new information, on tops of creating false positive results.)
I haven't even begun to play with my phone only options. For all I know there is some off market third party app out there that will unlock my phone from its home screen hehe.
I'm rambling. Sorry.

please let me know if you have any luck man because nothing seems to work, and att acts like your tryna get the code to fort knox when u call
my results after 1 month of digging
I have spent a month trying to find anyway around paying for an unlock code.
I want to use the rooted ATT i537 on TMob but I bought from a 3rd party who did not know the previous owner.
ATT only allows the registered IMEI owner to request the unlock code. See: ATT.com/unlockdevice
Unlock via Programming panel is deactivated on the i537 Gs4A
A code is the only way. The code can be created by a generator program connected to an ATT database but I am not finding a hackers guide to obtaining this mostly because the community approves of protecting all those who are doing it for profit on eBay etc.
Surely some rebel hack out there reading this will PM me soon with the solution. pleeaassee I am about to send the phone back to the seller and just buy another one at the same price which is unlocked or set up for tMobile if I do not get a reply in a week or 2.

Steve, I don't think you are going to get the reply you are looking\hoping for. There is no law forcing the vendor to provide you with an unlock code, ever. All those types of considerations and protections for both the vendor and their customers are provided for by the contract you and the vendor enter into when you two come to an agreement and sign that contract at the beginning of your relationship. The vendor promises to provide services for a period of time and you promise to provide Valuable Consideration "money" for these services. There are LEGAL recourses provided for in the fine print for each of you should either party fail to comply with their promises to the other party. The signing of the contract is what I think the original poster meant by "it's the law". It's not the law but, the contract makes all of the agreements and promises stated within it legally binding. The law is simple contract law. Signing the contract may also limit or eliminate any legal recourse you have against the vendor, so read it carefully as you can sign away any rights you may have had. Now the vendor will usually provide you with an unlock code after your contract ends because they have recovered any loss they took by providing you with a discounted or free phone, That is all they are trying to do and they are entitled to that. They will make provisions for active duty military service members who will be deployed or transferred to somewhere their service is unavailable. If you wish to have your phone unlocked before that amount of time you can pay for that service from thousands of vendors all over the internet or at your local mall. They are everywhere! The phone vendor has no interest in helping you to unlock before the contract ends as your intentions are usually to switch services and default on your contract in which case they will sue you for what you would have had to pay them plus all the legal fees, late charges, interest on the unpaid balance, etc etc etc. So, I hope this fully answers your questions and I can't imagine that it wouldn't as I got long winded as to cover all the bases with all the reasons "why?". I do this to try to avoid all of the "but why...?" responses that can turn a simple posting into a life's work. I also hope this satisfies the moderator's responsibilities to make sure that this site doesn't appear to be just another hackers site with the cover of a legitimate developers forum. I'm a very new member of this site and this is only my second posting. I provide tech assistance on several sites for programming and provide assistance when application or system failures occur and the consumer sends in one of those "OH S**T!! HELP ME!!!" requests and I'll walk him\her through the problem to the solution which usually is read the instructions or learn the language you are attempting to write code in . With all the flavors of linux out there. Good luck Steve and try to remember that when someone says "it's the law", at least 95% of the time they really don't know what they are talking about and that "the law" is what they think it is or want it to be. NuclearDave "David".
Yes, I do get you. I am a lawyer, and I get a bit frustrated when people say this is the law or that is the law without really knowing. I did not really expect them to be able to quote me anything, but hope does spring eternal.

I didn't expect a response from someone in the biz and in your case, I broke it down a little much. Unfortunately, the masses would have required even more simplification. This site's members on average are a smarter bunch. I'm not involved in the biz as at the end of my legal training, the military took a hold of my heart and sole and I spent a bunch of my adult life fighting for peoples rights to be any kind of person or idiot they wanted to be. Sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing. I do consulting for friends in the biz from time-to-time. Civilian only as the present administration and I don't agree on much. I've met and shook the hand of four presidents and I just thank god I left the service before our current president came into power. Once again I'm long winded. "So this is what a courtroom looks like..." I met him "The attorney played by Tom Cruise" while stationed in Virginia. Every time I saw him I quoted that line & we always laughed. PS; If I was incorrect in any way in my initial response to you, Please let me know.

How do 3rd-party 'unlockers' (money ripoffs) get your phone's Bootloader Codes?

Recently I came across this issue, since I just recently bought this phone. Usually I will root my phones as soon as I get them, by following the excellent guides in XDA here, but this time, I didn't do much research before getting this phone (Mate 20 X). Aside from this unlocking bootloader issue, I like this phone and I hand-picked this from my list of options because it ticked what I was looking for in my new purchase - big battery, IR and 3.5" audio jack. Plus the latest 7nm 980 Kirin processor is a nice hardware to have. (I had Mi Max 2 before, but had some issues.)
I don't intend to pay any 3rd party and pay prohibitively expensive money to unlock my phone. It's absurd how much they are ripping off the people and on the other hand, I'm surprised how much people are willing to throw money at these dubious sites. Now crossing 100++ USD!!?? What the....
Anyway, back to my question :
1. How do these sites get YOUR phone's codes? I'm sure they are not paying Huawei to get your codes. If not from Huawei, then how are they able to obtain the codes just by having the serial number and IMEI numbers?
2. I hope it's just a matter of time before XDA developers can find out how they do this so that this can be shared with the community so that we can continue unlocking like how we used to do before with other phones.
This is an enthusiast community, not some dumb people who are ready to throw money to some 3rd party hackers to get your codes.
And looking at the latest developments, most of these dubious sites have ceased providing the service....wonder why. Something's fishy here. And prices are shooting up, no doubt, fueled by so many people ready to throw money for them.
I am not a developer but always follow the guides written by excellent deveopers in XDA. It's fun and educational that way. We all have paid for the phones ourselves. Tinkering with our phones is our hobby.
I wish people won't rush to pay and get 3rd party questionable "unlockers" spoil the spirit of XDA.
EDIT : Edited title.

I doubt that anybody can provide unlock code without inside information/certain servers approach. If that hadn't been true, xda would have the code a long time ago.
What raises two issues. The first one is why Huawei changed its policy regarding AL00 bootloader after it was already on the market. Huawei had known all implications of unlocked bootloader a long time ago, that is the reason why it had stopped providing codes for other models recently.
It could be assumed that Huawei lured buyers to went for this model because they believe that it is only with unlocked bootloader and it will stay that way. A lot of buyers had wanted an unlocked bootloader, otherwise, they would have taken the international model which required fairly less customization.
Locking bootloader out of the blue and then enabling trading it through middlemen for huge extra profits is at least unfair to the buyers.
And there could be more. Is it possible that sudden change toward locking bootloader arise from the temptation to control users? That stuff that is basically what US accused Huawei and what makes discomfort even in more countries?
Finally, there is one question for xda, too. Until recently xda was a synonym for a free exchange of knowledge, solutions, software. Basically, almost everything I know about Android, phones, hacking, I've got from xda. And if I have something to share, I do it with gratitude for everything I received and gained from this great community. But I'm not even important, my knowledge is basic. There are many devs with a massive contribution, whole solutions, modifications, entire systems. For free.
It's quite acceptable to make reference to paid solutions or stuff and to recommend it in the forum. As it was always acceptable presenting royalty-free solutions in the forum and offering more customizing one via Google Play or similar portals. Or asking for a donation. But selling pure commercial solutions for ripoff money for something that has been already paid to the phone producer is an entirely different story. It may turn this forum into a commercial portal. If one could gain huge profits for participation only due to his connection with the producer, what is the point to spend hours, days and weeks of hard work just to bring a perfect rom or solution to the community?
Then, perhaps we'd need another forum. For contributors instead of traders.
Bootloader codes can only be provided by Huawei. FunkyHuawei and other "sellers" likely had an inside source that was providing codes at a cost - these people likely lost their jobs which is why there are no codes available from any source. XDA has found ways to load custom recoveries on many devices in the past, but this was never by locating the bootloader unlock code, only by exploiting a security flaw.
Personally, I don't think this issue has anything to do with Huawei wanting to lock down users. (despite what they're telling us) I think they are scared of research firms finding evidence of Huawei stealing hardware/software from other manufacturers. I don't mean this as a dig on Huawei, I think Apple is guilty of this as well. Both guilty in stealing radio hardware design and software from Qualcomm.
Has anyone actually obtained an unlock code in the last few weeks? If so, for which version of Mate 20 X and how much did you pay?
It's simple guys, 2 options:
Either 1. Insider that gets very busy now because if the many requests since OEM unlock is available again in the new updates.. so price goes up.
Or 2. Someone has the algorithm to generate these codes based on IMEI.
Since the price has went up by 4x I think option one is more realistic, however I don't rule out option 2. Perhaps we can fix a bounty for a team that can look into a key generator?

Seems to be advertising to unlock at 39.99 US. I am hesitant though not only because of the issue developers have with the ethics behind such a service, but becasue I am a bit of a newb. Once I give out my IMEI number, doesn't that put me at risk of ending up with a brick?

Wait ... I am now advertising for them. I thought the point of this thread was to not pay these companies. Although I am interested to know if your EVR-AL00 gets a code. I will be tempted

Are you sure this company will give you code to unlock bootloader? Looks like what they do is unlock phone from carrier. For example, you buy a phone from AT&T and you want to use it on Tmobile but you can't because it is carrier locked.

You realize that this is the unlock code for the simcard Carrier right? That has nothing to do with bootloader unlock...
