PSfreedom port to Incredible - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

I have been following the scene for the PS3 modding for Homebrew and saw that psfreedom is getting ported to many Android devices. Here is no mention yet of it working on Incredible. Anyone think they have the skill set to port this for us?
http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=Device_compatibility_list

Once done on the evo it should work on the incredible. Or try loading up cm6 and using the nexus one or desire methods.

Great idea, I will try this and post my results.

It's been posted on the site that the incredible is in progress

They just added it to the list because its the same chipset, no one is working on a incredible port atm. They are working on the EVO right now..

I'm sure it'll come to us eventually.

Does anyone know if there is someone specifically working on the Incredible or EVO port? I heard there was someone working on the EVO, but i cant find where or who. I would like to pitch in some effort to help transition it to the Incredible.

doesn't matter. Sony updated the firmware (v3.42) to block all USB based backup tools.

New ps3 firmware update has reportedly closed the exploit we are wishing to use.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

Looks like the latest firmware blocks this. The arms race between the hackers and sony is on!
http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=...uk/go/rss/int/news/-/news/technology-11213618

I don't ever use PSN, so I'll stay at 3.41 for the time being. Think of it like the xbox jtag. Don't want to discourage anyone from porting just yet, it would still be a very useful port.

If you use a proxy app called Logan5's tool you can still go online with 3.41. It won't work forever though, they found a way to block it when the killed OtherOS support too

It DOES matter, just because Sony is releasing an update doesn't mean i have to update to that. I have turned off system updates and you can use proxy tricks to still sign on to PSN with 3.41.
I would assume anyone following this scene has read that it is built for 3.41 and has turned off updates....
Also the newly updated psgroove payload can retrieve practically any portion of the PS3 kernel, allowing us to find other exploits to take advantage of. Which means just a tiny update to the vulnerability exploit could still work on newer system versions.

Whoops double post.

I tried flashing the N1 version of the jailbreak while on a CM6 rom but it doesn't get past the "HTC Incredible" white screen while booting

Just Adding to the mix
Hey guys i was searching other forums to get a bypass method for us who want to stay at 3.41 until we have other methodologies for jailbreaking and preserving the PS3.
here's a link to the OP at the other forum:
h* *p://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65511
can't hotlink yet still new user so just replace the stars with "tt"
basically he's just giving two forms of bypass for being able to sign in and get in to the PSN to play online and shop.
Hope this helps someone.
Looking forware to more Droid Inc ROMs as well as PS3

[Q] PS3 Jailbreak app for Android

http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/05/ps3-jailbreak-adapted-to-nokia-n900-palm-pre-in-wake-of-austral/
Engadget reported that the N900 and PalmPre have PS3 jailbreak apps, where you can connect it to your PS3 via USB and jailbreak it to allow for homebrew apps and stuff. Anyone know of anybody working on a port or version for Android?

idk if your G1 will work... It sounds like it needs a device with Clockwork and a CM ROM. I'm going to look into it more before I attempt to jailbreak my PS3, but from what I have read, the latest firmware update (out this week) will overwrite the exploit and re-imprison the PS3.

I was trying to look when I had time at work, but if the G1 has the MSM72K USB controller it should work, but i've not had time to find out if it does. But the USB jailbreak hardware that this software is based off of, would prevent the PS3 from updating to the new firmware. You only need to update the firmware in order to go online to use those features of the PS3. If you don't play online or do online stuff with it (like me) you don't HAVE to update the firmware that Sony sends out. So if the G1 has the MSM72k USB controller we should be all set. I'm pretty sure as well that there will be an update to the jailbreak software to get around the new firmware update soon. I don't think it would NEED clockwork or CM, just that who ever it was that got it working was using that setup. I'll be home in a few hours and will experiment a little and see what happens. If it don't work on the G1, i'll try it on the Moto Cliq (may have the usb controller). And if THAT don't work i'll wait for the HTC Vision to hit T-Mo and try it with that..hehehe. worst comes worst, i'll find a used N1.
Too bad playstation released a update for these things, there surely on top of their game!
If I were you, I wouldn't want to forgo the sony updates, as they are often times feature enhancing like the 3D support that's being added later this year.

Sony has been on top of their updates lately cause there are a ton of people out there that use the jailbreak just to cheat at online play with alot of games especially COD! I liked to use it just so I could copy all my games onto my hdd I've got a 1 TB drive in there but it's mostly the little punk kids that cheat and hack games cause they suck so much at playing them. Netflix for Android is out for a few Phones

But not ours!
I know that blows! I posted a thread in the themes and apps section and hopefully someone can port the evo version to our phone. Not sure if it is possible or not.
It's not like the phone isn't capable nor share a common drm library with its HTC counterparts. STUPID
Agreed. I'm trying to find the apk for the evo just to give it a shot. Netflix is really pissing me off lately!
I have the app already but it wont work

There's an apk posted on the Evo forum. I installed it and I get sound but no picture.
I insalled apk from Android app subfroum. Got sound no picture...goes back.to main menu after 2 seconds

i tried logging in and all and it was about to start streaming (loading screen) before throwing me an error saying its not supported on the device.
then i tried installing the com.netflix.... apk and it did the same thing :\
i'm on ARHD3.7
Does anyone else find it BS that our phone (QSD255 ARMv7) was left out even though it has a similar ARMv7 chipset to the Nexus One (QSD250 ARMv7)? I'm calling BS on Netflix's "DRM" comments.
Agreed.

Hulu Plus for Android

Just thought I'd share some news I saw this morning:
Hulu Plus for Android
Hopefully, we will see the Thunderbolt added to the compatibility list... or maybe a Dev will take a look at it.
+1, I have a HULU subscription and not a Netflix. I have been waiting for this and of course the T-Bolt is not supported but My X that i sold. "sigh"...Please HULU or devs....make this work, i will be forever greatful.
Has anybody tried to download the apk and install it on the Thunderbolt? Is it the same error we originally had with Netflix? (Unsupported device)

I did install it and that is basically the error that I received.
Could someone explain in terms if hulu and netflix, what makes one device compatible and another not. I mean the tbolt should be better in every aspect than the droid x (hence my upgrade) yet it works on that device. Someone mentioned that it works on the HTC inspire. How is that different than the tbolt?
Just hack flash and run it in the browser, works just fine there

That sucks even more. I thought there was some real technical hardware or software reason but thats just plain model discrimination.
Wonder how HULU decides on this wish list
Thats what I dont understand... Isnt the HTC thunderbolt and HTC Inspire have the same specs besides the Network bands... Why release for the Inspire and not the thunderbolt??
how do you guys have netflix? is it from GB?
Hulu Plus appears to be available for Froyo phones, good for many of us (Inspire and Atrix I know are both on Froyo)
One would think someone will hack it just like Netflix. Who knows how these companies are deciding what devices to support but it's frustrating!
There has been a hulu hack out for a while now. I have been running hulu since the hack like 2 months ago. If you are rooted you can use hulu

Coming from wp7, android fragmentation can definitely be frustrating. Seeing other devices run something you can't is just part of android I guess. Not to mention that some games won't ever come to the bolt either.

Working hulu app?

Has anyone successfully gotten the hulu app to work on their one x? I've tried multiple modded versions that have worked in the past for me for my vivid and none of them are working on the one x. They just sit there buffering forever. Any ideas?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
So far I haven't found a solution. Everything I tested is the same buffering problem you said.
I am in the same boat. I have the international version of the 1x and I'm able to get hulu working. But I just purchased the AT&T 1x and it doesn't work. all it does is op stated just stays stuck buffering. I wonder what is different between both phones that will cause this
I actually get the error that my device isn't currently supported. I'm going to try to find a work-around via the browser and a modified version of the Adobe Flash apk I have lying around from my old days of doing this with my Captivate.
I have tried a few modded hulu .apk's as well with the same stuck buffering problem. I really would like to get my money's worth out of my Hulu + subscription.
Come on Hulu!
I sent them an email at [email protected] asking for device compatibility with the AT&T HTC One X (I made sure to call it that so there was no confusion as to what device I was referring to) and this is the BS reply I got.
Thanks for your email. Because Android phones and tablets each have a different set of specifications that we need to take into account, we're only able to support a select number of them at this point in time. While I don't have a time frame to share right now, we'll be adding new Android devices regularly.
Again, I'm sorry for the frustration. We're working hard to bring Hulu Plus to a wide variety of Android devices as soon as possible. Thanks for being patient with us in the meantime. If there's anything else I can address for you, please let me know.
Thanks,
Olivia

So, Hulu Plus can't support various devices, but Netflix can? My guess is that they have only one poor sod who is working on all the mobile apps. Regardless, please email [email protected] and tell them you want to see Hulu Plus on the AT&T HTC One X, I figure the more people emailing them the higher the chances are that we'll see the app released.
My reply was a little different. I'm hoping that they will add it soon as there are many HTC phones one the supported list.
"Giorgio M., May 08 07:33 am (PDT):
Hi Art,
Thanks for getting in touch with us, and thanks for the suggestion. We'd love to get Hulu Plus working on as many devices as possible, so while there's no update at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop up at some point. A lot of folks ask about adding the HTC One X to Hulu Plus, so we're certainly aware of the demand.
Before we can officially support it, we need to obtain a specific set of streaming rights, and we also need agreements in place with both our content partners and the device manufacturer itself – and these steps can take time. If or when support is announced, you'll see it listed at ( www.hulu.com/plus/devices ).
I hope this helps. If there's anything else I can address, please let me know.
Thanks, Giorgio M. Hulu Support"

I might add that I'm stock, un-rooted, bootloader locked (for now at least)
There is an update today that works on the HOX.
Note: if you have AdAway installed you need to disable ad blocking and reboot or you'll get an error.

[In Progress] Hacking the Optimum App for Kindle Fire

Cablevision recently released the full Optimum app with streaming capabilities, but it has only been released for the Kindle Fire. Since the Kindle Fire runs Android, it should be possible for the application to run on any other Android device. This thread will be the attempt at modding the Optimum application to work with all Android devices (2.3+).
Optimum App Download:http://www.mediafire.com/?169999r49rv15q9

Application asks for root upon opening
Some devices can open and run the app successfully, but must log in and out every use. If not, data must be cleared for every use.

I have tried on my CM9 Evo and CM9 Iconia A500, and in both instances the application works (sometimes I have to wipe data, sometimes it works flawlessly).
The point of this is to modify the application itself, without touching the device files, making it work with almost any version of Android (Gingerbread and up because that is the Kindle Fire version).
So far, I haven't come up with much in the past few days. I'm still looking though.
Also, my thoughts on Cablevision:
I think Cablevision is actually one of the "good guys". They have cheap plans, fantastic service, and they really do want to help their customers. Their TV service is great, and it offers a lot of fantastic channel choices. The Internet is really good, as I always get at least 25 up/down with very low ping (I do enjoy gaming).
I don't like the fact that they haven't come out with a streaming application for Android yet, but it is obvious that they are making progress. I do like watching TV on my laptop, and it is nice to know that I can watch it on an iOS device if I ever get one again. The fact that they have an application for an Android device just shows that they are very close to a full Android release.
I changed buildprop values to resemble kindle fire. It didnt work on my SGS3 stock ICS neither on my toshiba thrive stock ICS

I will start to reach out to some actually successful application modifiers soon to get some real help if I can't figure it out myself.
Thanks for being so patient.
