Has anyone been able to find the newest XT9 build for the Vox? I spoke to someone at Tegic, who said the one that shipped with the vox isn't the most recent and is buggy, like not having the ability to dynamically add a new word while typing. She said it should be on the 730, but it's out there somewhere.
looking for this also
I can't add new word right now, this bother me
You DO can. In Portrait, XT9 .
Just switch to ABC and type your word it should be registered in XT9. OR* in XT9, type letter by letter, pushing OK (central joypad) at each letter, then it should be added.
If not, switch to landscape and (still in XT9) type your word with QWERTY keypad.
PAINFUL ... Any XT9 Editors or Wipers out there..
I am just moving from PPC/WM6 to SmartPhone/WM6 and this is so painful for me - the AutoCorrect options and some of the back-doors to adding items to that list is so wonderful --
example:
WM (space) -- WindowsMobile
thxm (space) -- Thanks Much!
reg (space) -- Regards!
u -- you
r -- are
But minus so many other words - choices - and thinking from the app.
I have searched for 2 days on the Net and saw some of the old apps that worked with this T9 DB --- I am "thinking" if I can completely wipe the XT9 DB and build it just with my words I may be able to survive.... because the list will just have the words I want.
I am willing to pay for this - essentially KAI AutoCorrect and BB AutoText do this and did not know I would lose this with WM/SmartPhone and wish I had the same flavor as WM/PPC.
If there is a sleeper app out there I have not seen I would be soooo grateful but just can't find one - or one that will do this with WM6/Smartphone.
Thanks so much for anything here --- I think if I could WIPE those DB's I would be ok?
Thanks ---
XDA Mobile 6 Release 4
Let's give thanks on Thanksgiving; Its a new XM6!
You can now cook your own version of this rom! Click Here!
XDA Mobile 6 Release 4 (XM6r4 for short) is the fourth version of the popular XM6 rom series for the Wizard. The base rom is the same, but with new features and fixes to a few bugs found in XM6r3.
XM6r4 is built on the OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 rom that was provided to us by InGeNeTiCs from Howard Forums. While this is not the "newest" release of WM6, it is the last known release that was built for the Wizard (ie: its not a port from another HTC Device). Various pieces of the base rom have been upgraded, so some of it is stuff ported from other phones so that it can have newer functionality. Overall, I feel this base is very stable and fast and makes a great base to cook on.
Please Note: this ROM was NOT intended to push the limits on speed optimization or memory optimization. It was made to be functional, stable, and something that I myself wanted and will use. I've found it to very quick and responsive (especially with Overclocking with BatteryStatus), and so far Battery life has been very good for me and those beta testing this. If you have a Battery Drain issue, make sure you flashed back to an official rom before you upgraded to this one, as that should correct extended rom corruption that has been shown to cause battery draining. BatteryStatus is NOT included in this ROM. If you want to overclock or use other features of BatteryStatus, you are welcome to download and install the latest version of BatteryStatus yourself. I personally use it, and have OMAP set to 247MHz with CPUscalar set from 143 to 247 and Boost set to 260Mhz.
Base ROM Information
The base rom was an "Official" Wizard WM6 ROM that was part of the development cycle of WM6 inside of Microsoft (Dogfood as they call it). The base rom was not a port of another device rom with drivers and stuff pieced and parted onto this one, but this was an actual Wizard WM6.
Windows Mobile 6, OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
ROM Date: 08/11/06
Protocol: 4.1.13.09
There is no Radio, IPL, SPL or Extended ROM included in this (so its G4 "safe").

In addition to the apps listed above, the following fixes and mods were made to improve the user experience on XM6r4
Changing ringtone now stays changed when you leave the Phone app
Using press and hold on CommManager button toggles vibrate on and off, and phone does NOT stay stuck in vibrate / no ring mode
Regional Settings default to English (United States) and use a slash for the date seperator (M/dd/yyyy)
Menu sounds work by default
Pressing the "End Call" button does not disconnect GPRS but minimized the active application. Pressing and holding the "End Call" button for about 5 seconds will do a GPRS Disconnect
Internet access over ActiveSync (USB) connection works (You must apply a registry fix on your PC first. See the next post for the fix)
D pad now works differently with PIE. Up and down presses on the D Pad stay the same, but pressing right jumps forward a page and pressing left jumps backwards a page. Makes going through websites easier (IMO).
Fixed the A2DP registry for sampling
Registry Entries for PIE Connections to speed page loading
Registry Entries to increase In Call Volume
Press Button 1 for messaging (like normal) or hold it a little longer and HTC Action will come up (via HButton)
WkTask setup to not show Phone and Activesync as running apps in task bar
QuickMenu enabled for nice drop down and cascading start menu
Touch Scroll only is active so use your finger to scroll in most places
Requirements
You MUST have an IPL and SPL at 2.xx or higher (BOTH not just one or the other).
You MUST be running ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP (Vista comes with the correct sync utility, although there have been issues reported about Vista and sync'ing with PPC's so be aware of that).
Before you attempt to upgrade to this ROM, Please follow this thread to learn how to flash roms, CID unlock your phone, and how to fix issues you may run into! It is also recommended that you flash your phone with a Windows XP computer and not Vista. It will work with Vista, but if you run into problems Vista can't talk to a phone in Bootloader mode!
Recomendations
I HIGHLY Recommend that you flash back to an official rom before upgrading to this (or any) custom rom so you have a clean base (and correct any Extended ROM corruption you might have). G4 users would flash back to their provider's latest official release or the Wizard Love ROM. G3 users can use T-Mobile 2.26 for a good base.
If you use BatteryStatus (its NOT included in the rom!) to overclock, I don't recommend overclocking above 260Mhz, and the CPUscaler settings in BatteryStatus should not be set to a min lower than 143MHz (or your device may not wake back up after going to sleep).
Newer Radio ROMs on WM6 have had issues in the past (especially for Cingular / AT&T users). T-Mobile 2.19 (UK or NL versions) seems to be the most stable, but you can now run newer radios with the attached cab. This cab also works for some other providers but not for all, so its up to you to test what works for your phone.

I've moved the credits to the 5th post of this thread as this post has become too big.
Known Issues
When entering a contact in the "To:" field it does not link to the outlook contacts, it instead shows suggested words. You can tap the word "to" and it will go to the contact list no problem. Also, when trying to select a file to send no file names or pictures are displayed just empty square boxes, you can tap the box and it will go to the next sub folder, if it is a folder. There are no thumbnails or files listed so it is impossible to navigate to select a picture or video. Click Here to download patch
After the initial flash, some have reported that QuickMenu pops open the start menu when you are supposed to tap the screen to start the phone setup. Just wait a second or two and it will close by itself.
The base rom has a bug / feature where if GPRS is active, unanswered calls may not show up as a missed call and may not give notification of the unanswered call. If this happens, the unanswered call shows up in the history as an answered call with a duration of 1 or 2 seconds.

Radio ROMs
Here are links to a few of the Radio ROMs that I've used with XM6r4. Remember that Radio's newer than the 2.19 radio may require the WM6 Fix CAB that is attached to the first post of this thread.
T-Mobile 2.19.11 UK
Cingular 2.25.11
2.61.11
2.69.11
Voice Command
MS Voice Command 1.6 US HERE and HERE and HERE
MS Voice Command 1.6 German HERE and HERE and HERE
MS Voice Command 1.6 FR HERE and HERE and HERE
MS Voice Command 1.5 UK HERE and HERE
How to not have a 24hour Clock (or how to show AM/PM)
This works on all WM6 roms
Go to Start > Settings > System > Regional Settings
Make sure you have the correct Region selected
Click on the Time tab
Click on the drop down box for Time Style
Notice the little up and down arrows? This is a scrolling region in this dropdown. Click the up arrow a couple of times and you'll find h:mm:ss tt
Thats it. Microsoft is amazing at having a 2 line scrolling region on this dropdown. You'd think they would have had at least 3 or 4 lines show up for chosing (and it would be more obvious that its a scrolling region then too).
GPRS / MMS Setups
First, here is The Ultimate Thread with people posting operator settings for about all providers! In the first post is a link to the thread where walshieau is creating an automated way of setting up all of these!
What follows is a list of automated and manual ways of setting up GPRS and MMS for various cell providers and regions that I've collected:
The cab file for Cingular users to setup GPRS and MMS - Click Here.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link to a thread by Lurch with 3 cabs for the various plans. Famewolf tested the 3rd one and it worked for him.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link to a post by FZZF that has info for your setup of GPRS and MMS by hand
Here's another link with cab files for T-Mobile US users:
MMS auto config t-mobile.cab (Thanks to marscandybars for posting this)
Here's the settings for the original (Pre-Cingular) AT&T Wireless (blue sim)

Connecting XM6r4 to the Internet via ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP
For those having issues connecting to the internet via Active Sync, cut and paste this code onto your PC in a file called net_over_activesync.reg and run it (on your PC not your phone)
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]

Splash Screens and Splash Only RUU for G4
For G4 users, Click Here for the RUU with the Splash Screens of this rom (since you don't get them when you use the shell tool). As I understand it, this is completely safe for a G4 as its nothing but splash screens (no OS, IPL, SPL, Extended ROM, etc, just splash and htc logo screens). I've also placed the .bmp files that make up the splash screen in the zip file so you can see them directly before flashing this.
If you have problems flashing the above RUU on a G4, then extract this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29158&d=1152698784 and pull the nk.nbf file out of the above Splash Screen file and put it into the directory of this one and run this RUU. You can use the same method for flashing the Radio Only ROM (pull the nk.nbf file out of the radio only rom and put it into the directory of this RUU and run it). Thanks anichillus for that link! You can also check this thread for another RUU that is in English and seems to work for most G4 users. Thanks Vippie!
Weather Panel Setup
See my post in the Wizard forum on how I setup WeatherPanel. It will give you a fixed dll with correct moon phases through 2008, new/better Moon phase icons, and a cool theme called Chameleon-240 QVGA. I dumped SBSH Pocket Weather after seeing this setup
Hermes Black Cabs that may be of Interest
Transcriber can be added back into XM6r4 by using the Black 3 Add-on CABs file. There may be others in it that may be of interest also for some. Included in this file is Cyberon VoiceCommander, Cyberon Voice Dial, VIjay555 utils, and a Slingbox patch (none of these I've tested).
Turning off Word Auto Completion
Some people do not like how Windows Mobile tries to suggest words that you may be typing. If you are one of those people, jacob-mda wrote up a post on how to turn it off. Check out This Thread.
Auto Completion for Spanish
User peu found the file to change the auto completion of words to Spanish. You can check his post here for details and a link.
Skinning the Dialpad
You can find skins for this dialpad HERE. See image attached below for an example.
Skinning MortPlayer
MortPlayer is very skinnable. Check out the qVista example attached below. You can find qVista here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/them...rting-qvga-vga-landscape-portrait-square.html
More skins can be found here: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=list&category=23
Or create your own skins by reading this: http://www.sto-helit.de/freeware/pocketpc/mortplayer/en/skinhelp.html
BatteryStatus (for Overclocking, CPUScalar, and much much more)
BatteryStatus is a very popular utility around here and for good reasons. Currently its in a beta phase and the author is releasing new versions of the beta constantly so I decided not to put it in the rom and let people install whatever build of it they want. Also, some versions of BatteryStatus have been known to cause excessive battery drain, so be aware of that too. You can find it in the Official BatteryStatus thread and if you do use it, feel free to give feedback on it in that thread as they are always looking for ways to improve it.
NOTE: If you do use overclocking, I recommend you use the OMAP Apps tab to setup Camera to be at 195Mhz as it can mess up the display if you are overclocked and doing the camera.

Included Apps Info
Info on Included Apps
FingerFriendlyFriends v1.0 Beta 2
For those wondering, PocketCM was replaced in XM6r4 for two reasons. First the author of PocketCM did not want it included in roms. Two, I like the FingerFriendlyFriends app (even though I hate the name )
Check out these images of it:
I would advise you to check out and participate in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340227&highlight=fingerfriendlyfriends if you like FingerFriendlyFriends. The official website is http://www.jotto.no/fff/ and has info on using and making the most of FFF
For those that don't want to run FFF and want the standard Conctact manager back you can do the following:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS
Change "String 1" value from "\Windows\PocketCM.exe" to :MSPOUTLOOK contacts.
Then if you want it back, you can change it back to \Windows\FingerFriendlyFriends.exe
Since FFF is in beta, if you need / want to upgrade, just drop the FingerFriendlyFriends.exe file in \Windows
SK tsync
Included in this rom is SK tsync, which will synchronize your phone to time servers. I've included in \Windows a special link called tsync silent.lnk . You can copy this link (with TotalCommander or use WinXplore) to your \Windows\Startup folder and it will allow your phone to sync its time after a reboot. Famewolf also wrote a Mortscript for easy install (since Mortscript is part of this rom). Click Here to download this script, then just place it on your phone and run it, and it will copy this shortcut to your Startup folder for you.
MobileJustice v0.8
MobileJustice is an Anti-theft app that you can configure on your phone. Just go to Start > Programs > Accessories and click on the MJConfig icon (first time in you will get a message that there isn't a config file, just click ok and it will be created). To us this, check the Enabled box, then click Add on the Allowed line. You can then setup your SIM card as an authorized one, and add other SIM cards IMSI numbers if you use more than one. Next click on Add next to Report to: and setup an SMS number (wife, friend, colleague) where you want the text message to go to if an unauthorized SIM is put into your phone. You can add multiple SMS numbers if you want. At this point, your phone will now be setup so that if an unauthorized sim is put in it, then it will send an SMS (with no record of it being sent) to your Report To list on the next boot (you can test this by not setting up (or removing) the Allowed and then doing a soft reset).
For more advanced, you can turn on the Disp MsgBox at the top and then put in some text in the MsgBox text line. This will pop up a Message box on the screen of the phone after a boot, if an unknown sim is in the phone.
You can also enable RMon (bottom half of the screen), put in a pass phrase, and then turn on MsgBox (GPS and LocCall do not work on Wizards, and the other options haven't been implemented in this version). By doing this, you can now send an SMS to your phone in the following format:
+m passphrase message
Rmon will intercept the sms message (so it will not show up as a received message), and if the passphrase matches the one you put in the configuration, then it will pop up a message box on the phone with your message in it (so you can secretly send messages to the thief to possibly intimediate them (or whatever).
The project page for MobileJustice is located at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice/

I would like to thank the following in help (directly and indirectly) with XDA Mobile 6:
Faria for providing the initial ROM Kitchen that got me cooking
anichillus for the fantastic Hyper Core ROM Kitchen which was exclusively used in the production of this ROM
Dr Puttingham for the guides, information he has provided to all of us
Molski for having a nice tutorial on various cooking tools and providing easy access to info at http://www.molski.biz
mattk_r and theloon for inspiration and pushing the envelope and for the fantastic set of OEM packages
Famewolf for constantly pointing me to new apps, new versions, and posts about features like BlueTooth DUN to add into the rom.
Those that took the time to help alpha and beta test XM6 Release 4 (Rudi, Peter, and Ben). We worked out a number of issues with a nice quick beta test (XM6r3 beta worked out most of the real bugs so this one was "easy" )!
Everyone that installed and gave feedback and support on the other XDA Mobile 6 threads
Everyone that I thanked in my other ROM releases!
I thought there were going to be door prizes...didn't we agree on door prizes? No mouse pad?
Great job once again mfrazzz on the rom!
^..^
congratulations..
This really is an excellent release Thank you, Mike, and happy Thanksgiving..
One remark though, for everyone who may see the QuickMenu popping up at the first boot after the flashing: You don't need to click anywhere to make QM disappear, it will hide itself after a few seconds and you can continue to the initial configuration of the Wizard.
Release 3 is one of the best roms, i was waiting for next version.
Thanks for this one, will flash it today.

Good job
Release 3 was one the most stable ROM for WIZARD, I have noticed so far.
Wish the same for release 4 too.
Thank you
Happy thanksgiving.
I'm curious, what happens to my apps installed on my storage memory? Will I have to reinstall everything? I'm uprading from Release 3.

If your apps require registry entries more than likely you will have to reinstall them..they may or may not keep your settings depending on whether the settings were kept in the file or in the registry. (usually the registry)...any documents or files stored on the card should be fine however.
Here is a mortscript which may be of use to people reinstalling...it's called Reload..I am not the original author..I just made a few changes.....these instructions are taken from the Readme.txt inside:
How to setup:
1)Extract Reload.zip to the root of your storage card.
2)Place cab files in the CabsAuto folder if you want to the cab to be automatically installed to the phone storage.
3)Place cab files in the CabsManual folder if you want to be able to choose where to install the cab.
4)Place file in the Backup.zip file that you want to be restored to root of phone.
ie. If you wanted example.jpg to be placed in the \Windows folder, place example.jpg in the Windows folder of the zip file.
5)Place file in the SDBackup.zip file that you want to be restored to Storage Card.
*Please note that the cabs files placed in the CabsAuto folder need to conform to only asking the user for the installation destination, then showing installation successful/unsuccessful. Otherwise you might encounter some problems. You should place cabs that don't conform in the CabsManual folder, or adjust these cabs with programs such as WinCE CAB Manager.
###############################################
How to use:
2)Execute Reload.mscr. This will initiate the script that will first install the CabsAuto, then CabsManual, restore the files in the Backup.zip file if it exists, and finally restore the files in the SDBackup.zip file if it exists..
###############################################
Please note that files in CabsAuto are cleared out as they are installed so you may want to have a "CabsAuto.save" you copy over before a Reload.

WOW! - One Question
This looks like an amazing release. I haven't flashed my phone since TNT 4.0, but I am going to try this tomorrow night for sure. Just one question, does this have the fixes so that there are no problems with the missed call notifications when using GPRS or during another call?
Thanks a lot for your hard work again mfrazzz!

As stated this is mentioned as a known issue in the first post still. Never got from its right what the fix was (and may just be an issue with 318).
Awesome Job!
Once again, an awesome job mfrazzz. Keep it up. I have been using the XM6R3 until today.
An awesome collection of apps in this release.
Gobble, Gobble!!
The radio fix?
The Radio fix (XDA Cingular WM6 Radio Fix2.cab) ... has that already been applied and, if not, what does it fix exactly?
Which could be causing my problem? My girlfriend isn't getting my texts and she has verizon. Is it the 2.19 radio rom, this rom, or the T-mobile settings I chose?
I know you can get them from other places either in CAB or in OEM Packages. However, it's just too difficult to get them all together.
So I present you some of the OEM packages which I collected, extracted or created for use in my ROM.
1. The first one is taken from Schaps' ROM. It's a 3G-Battery with Indicator. I didn't ask Schaps' permission for this. I hope he's cool with it.
2. O2 Backup is taken from O2 Life and has been fixed to work on all devices. It allows you to backup PIM & My Documents data
3. O2 SMS Plus v1.6 is also taken from O2 Life. It's sorta like SMS Threaded applications. It also allows you to send/receive vCard from other dumb phones. It also support group SMS & Scheduled SMS
4. HTC Album v1.1030.720. Taken from a CAB file with fixed English Interface (Originally Chinese). You can choose which Folder to browse.
Here are another 4 Packages:
1. Newer version of HTC Home v2.1.105.722
2. Adobe Flash Lite v2.1 with the Cool HTC Animation from Schaps
3. Schaps' Advance Configuration v1.1
4. Palm Threaded SMS with fixed database folder. Instead of in Windows Directory, I patched the database to be stored on 'My Documents' folder for easy backup. You need to rename your backup SMS data from 'PalmMsgv001' to 'Palm01' and copy it to 'My Documents' folder.
Another 4 Packages
1. KeepAlive is a very old freeware from WinCE days. It prevents your PPC from turning Off. It's very usefull when you need to let you device on all the time.
2. PowerOff is another old freeware from Scott Seligman. It just shows a tiny PowerOff buttons at the Today Screen.
3. O2 Smart Text is also taken from O2 Life. It's just another thumb inputs with T9 capability. Good for One-Handed Operation
4. Picsel PDF Viewer. Taken from PPCGeeks. A superb PDF viewer compared to Adobe offering.
I downloaded all but I couldn't install even a single one.
These are not cab files nor installation .exe files nor a folder placed in the machine to run off with.
What are they? If these are for ROM cooking only then they are outside what most of us want to deal with.
These are OEM packages for ROM cooking and since this is the upgrading forum its the right place for things like this to be posted (IMO).
I personally wouldn't mind a separate forum for cooking, as some of the questions here are rather 'off topic' from ROM upgrading (flashing) or cooking, since installing an application is not an UPGRADE in any sense of the word...
Until then, it seems like this is the right place for this...
Thanks for your contributions [email protected]...
wow...a package for palmsms...hopefully it works.
Thanks for the packages! Am sure some cookers will find these handy!
how to benefit from thsoe if you are not a cook?
Hello,
a lot of thsoe packages look really useful, but, noby uses them so far in the offical release ROMs.
Cooking your ownROM still sounds intimidaing to me (and mybe others), so is there an easy to get thsoe as cab files, or is it posible to cook a delta ROM just adding those pakcages to one of the release ROMS?
Thanks
Juju
As requested by you here or via PM. Here are the CAB files for the OEM packages.
The 3G Battery Level will replace a system file. So you need to install Certificate CAB to allow the installation.
For Keep Alive, PowerOff, Advance Configuration, just copy the execute file to your Kaiser. No installation is needed.
HTC Home & Album CABs are widely available so I won't post them again. To change the HTC Album to English menu (from Chinese) you need to copy the 'RFileShell.dll' from Resco Explorer english Version.
Enjoy!
There is another nice application called O2 Theme which works well with kaiser. This is the WM6 version of O2 Plus. To learn about this, you can go to this thread I posted in Athena board:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328080
Cheers!

Hi,
the M8 is standard Software input panel (hereinafter SIP) modules, that's means if applications that follow the windows mobile design guide, it will work properly with different sized SIP.
your idea will be take in to account and thanks for your supports.
Thanks and best regards,

Subject: M8 help hint
hello developers
your product M8 is very good!
one more idea, to improve usability:
make an option to let keyboard appear from top of screen, till the middle.
the reason is: some applications have text input field at the bottom, but doesn't recognize keyboard allocated this place. and doesn't redraw it's input field higher (on the top of new appeared keyboard), so application text input field becoming invisible until the end of input.
another solution on same problem:
make your keyboard application it's own temporary input window on top of keyboard.
(it may optionally include increased font size for better visibility on street)
will be waiting for your reply, and a new version
thanks
now, let's wait for new release of it (under name of O2 or standalone M8)
Palm Threaded SMS changed database folder

I guess this is somewhat helpful because it's easier to back up the My Documents folder than find PalmMsgv001 in \Windows and back that up.
However, I hardly ever put anything into \My Documents because of the chance of forgetting about backing it up before flashing a new ROM. Hopefully someday we'll see a Threaded Messaging app that has more options - like save folder, and font size (the font is so tiny!). That's why I liked TxtMan - but it crashes too often, and isn't completely integrated into the Windows messaging system.
if someone could fix palm to work on the kaiser thatd be fabalous.. i know im jumping off topic but im willing to offer up $25.00!
here is the O2plus 2.3 cab , working on touchpro
Hello all!
I have the Fuze from AT&T, and I can't seem to find how to display asian webpages / music titles.
I don't want my whole phone to be changed, just the ability to show asian fonts instead of symbols! I tried adding chinese/korean/japanese fonts to Windows/Fonts folder, but that didn't help...
Anyone have a tutorial? I also checked htcwiki, but no one has the answer
Thanks a lot!
You need to link your fonts to the base font (Tahoma) by adding some registry entries. Instructions here:
http://leeblood.com/2008/02/16/windows-mobile-6-changing-the-system-font-adding-korean-support/
Keep in mind for MP3 tags (and possibly also other formats), the TF3d player (which uses WMP) also requires the ID3 tags be encoded in unicode in order to be read and displayed properly.
there is a file somewhere on this forum that allows you to view chinese, korean and thai. search for KoreChiThai
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445550
Ok, I got my phone to display chinese/korean/japanese using korechithai.cab
but... now none of my keys are working!! Including the slideout keyboard, the home key, the back key, etc etc... It still lights up with i press the fn key or the shift/caps lock, but nothing shows up on the screen.
Also, the onscreen keyboard won't let me backspace, and letter recognizer is screwy too...
UGH... T.T HELP!!
Here is Chinese for you
Here I found something to display Chinese.
Works for sms and some system things (I currently got a Chinese Sim in my mobile). Didn't work for my Chinese e-mails though. Didn't test with websites... Found it as part of a Chinese translation program... But these are just the fonts not the program. You can find ChineseFont.cab on this page:
http://sites.google.com/site/wmdict/wm-dict-general/wm-dict-v20/wm-dict-v20-install-wm
Hope it works for you.
I didn't experience any problems. Again, this is not for input (I guess), just fonts to display.
Try CE-Star, it work, also you can write chinese too
CE-Star ... and what about Japanese, Chinese, Thai
Hi,
I tried CE-Star before and it wasn't really stable. Changed a lot of things on the phone such as fields and text sizes being incompatible. One being too large that is...
Yesterday I also installed the KorChiTha and the Japanese I found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445550
However, I already had the cab I mentioned two posts ago and of course it froze my telephone needing a hard reset
Too eager and too impatient... anyway learned my lesson. Now I am looking for something like KorChiTha (which works fine for me by the way, I only use Chi and Tha) but with Chinese, Thai, and Japanese. This of course to run on my UK Raphael (well I bought it as HTC Touch Pro). These are the languages I need, I know a bit specific...
Does anyone know if there is this combination package somewhere? I don't want to crash everything again by combinging two different packages.
Thanks,
You can install fonts separately. Find three fonts that you like (Chinese traditional and/or simplified, Thai, and Japanese) and place them in your \Windows folder. Then add a reg key like so:
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
Tahoma = (multi-line string value)
\Windows\msyh.ttf,MS Yahei
\Windows\cordiau.ttf,CordiaUPC
\Windows\msgothic.ttf,MS Gothic
Of course, substitute font filename and font name for whichever fonts you use. You may also need to create a similar key for "Courier New" if any of your apps use it as a base font and are also trying to display Chinese/Thai/Japanese.
CE Star problem and solution
Hey all,
I bought my TP in Hong Kong and it came with a version of CE-Start which I'm guessing was written for the Touch Pro. I say "written for" because:
1. I tried to install the version which came with my TP on my friends Diamond and it wouldn't install oh the Diamond.
2. Same friend that has a Diamond installed a version (not written for the Diamond)of CE Star and one day his Diamond's SMS messed up. From the TF3D screen, he could read the message but if he tried to open the SMS in Window's the page would just be white; no text no nothing and he couldn't write messages.
Googled the problem and found the answer:
Delete CE-Star and SMS can be read again in the Windows SMS app. He deleted CE-Star and what do you know, his SMS worked again.
Same thing happened to another friend that installed CE-Star on his older WM phone. I told him to delete CE-Star and his SMS worked again also.
Luckily so far, my phone has not experienced this problem; could be because of the version of CE-Star I have. Hopefully this won't happen to other CE-Star users but if you can't read SMS all of a sudden, CE-Star is probably why.
PS If you do get your TP in HK; the version of CE-Star on the Application CD doesn't work...I called HTC HK and the customer support lady said the wrong version was shipped with the TP. To get the correct version which will install on your TP, go to the HTC HK website and download it from the support section. I bought my TP and called HTC in October 2008, so maybe this version problem has been solved already.
?? Can't Read Chinese in the Calendar Notes Section
Hi everyone,
As posted above, I have CE-Star installed on my TP. I can read and write Chinese in everything so far except for the notes section in the calendar area.
The subject line in the calendar entry will display Chinese, but not if I write Chinese in the Notes area. If I write Chinese in the Notes area, Chinese is displayed but when I try to view the entry, the Chinese text is gone and replaced with "???????????"
Any ideas why?
Thanks

Is your TPro set to use Chinese regional settings? If not, you may give it a try. Without it, the Calendar app may not be reading the calendar database correctly.

Hey fhsieh,
Thanks for the advice; I didn't even think about that.
Tried changing the regional settings to Hong Kong but the calendar notes section still displayed "???" in place of the Chinese characters. Numbers and letters of the alphabet display properly though.
Any other changes you can think that might help?
It may be an issue with the default locale ID/codepage, and could be causing the SIP to not send the characters to the Calendar app properly. You may try adding/editing the following keys in order to force WM to use the specified codepages and locale IDs:
[HKLM\nls]
DefaultACP=dword:000003b6 (decimal=950)
DefaultOCP=dword:000003b6
DefaultLCID=dword:00000c04 (decimal=3076)
SystemLCID=dword:00000c04
Microsoft lists the Chinese (Hong Kong) codepage as 950 (for DefaultACP and DefaultOCP), and locale ID as 0c04/3076 (for DefaultLCID and SystemLCID). Please refer to the following:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms776446.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/win2k/setup/lcid.mspx
Please note: Changing the NLS settings affects WM system-wide. You won't damage your phone, but you may have unwanted side effects. So please backup your data in case you need to hard-reset. Also, CE-Star has its own way of using NLS, so changing these settings may break CE-Star. Furthermore, I can't guarantee it'll fix the "???" character problem, because it may be an inherent problem with CE-Star that cannot be fixed with these NLS registry keys.
I do know those keys worked for me when I needed to fix Japanese input problems on my TouchPro, but I am using standard MS IME, not CE-Star. If you're unsure about the settings, you can also try searching elsewhere for those specific registry keys (DefaultACP, DefaultLCID, etc).
Awsome, thanks for the help again. I'm backing up my phone now and will try these regedits after work tonight. Hope things go well; I'll report later.

Made the registry edits but "???" still show up in the notes section when I open a calendar entry.
The good news is that I didn't have to hard reset my TP. Seems like the only changes which occured are a mixed bag of font changes related to Windows menus. The Programs, Settings, Start Menu, calendar and call history, and the soft keys are all different fonts now: the lettering is "thinner." Other Windows apps like email, SMS, and Contacts have no font changes. Also, it seems that all the lettering in TF3D is not affected as well
Thanks again for the help fhsieh.
One more question: how do you have Japanese (other language) input? Did you have to install a Japanese reading/writing program or by IME do you mean the same thing I use to type Chinese in Windows with my keyboard? If I can use IME (if WM6.1 comes with a language pack), can I just install it like I do on XP?
Japanese, Chinese, Thai combination wanted...
Just refering to my posts above... is it possible to have the combination:
Japanese
Chinese
Thai
Like in the solution for KorChiTha..???
Thanks
I use the standard Microsoft Japanese IME, which I installed through a CAB. I'm a bit confused as to what you're trying to ask so forgive me for just trying to be clear:
IME is not a program but a collection of dll files (and other system files, which add language and keyboard support) and registry settings (which load those files). There are programs that can do input without any special IME, but the input only works inside the program itself and will not work anywhere else in the system. 3rd party IMEs like CE-Star are the same, only they use their own dll files/settings.
Adding IMEs to WM is similar to adding keyboards to XP, but it is not the exact same. With XP, you can simply install regional support and add keyboards by inserting your XP disc. Microsoft does not provide such a disc for WM. But the required dll files / reg settings are pre-installed in certain phones (regional ROMs), so some people have extracted them to be able to install them to other phones that don't have it pre-installed.
With Japanese it's easy, since there is only one charset, one regional setting, and one set of keyboards (unless you want to use 3rd party IMEs). But with Chinese it's hard because of traditional/simplified, numerous regions and settings, and all kinds of keyboards (pin-yin, jyutping, four-corner, etc). CE-Star is a good alternative because it's just one single "suite" that can be used on practically any WM phone. But for that reason there will be small problems like the "???" character issue.
The benefit of Microsoft's own IME is that it may be able to avoid those problems. The trick is to figure out exactly which combination of traditional/simplified, regional support, and keyboards you want and then finding a package that has it (or finding the files setting it up yourself). Moreover, you may still have the same problems because not all packages are set up for every kind of ROM -- so there may be all sorts of other settings you need to change in order to get it working.
Still, if you want to try Microsoft's Chinese IME, a good place to start is Asukal's e-China package. You can also search XDA for Chinese IME threads. I would also recommend talking to some of the cooks who have setup Chinese ROMs, they will know better than I exactly which files you need and what settings. One of the newer Chinese ROMs is Jack's Chinese/Japanese Xperia ROM.

Follow the instructions and then re-boot.
Trying to make things easier with Opera Mini 5 java (as the native WM Opera Mini is still beta and has some issues), I created a cab which spares you of headaches. I'm aware that there are other similar project in the forums, but this one is a little bit different.
This cab contains:
- latest Esmertect Jbed Java (20090506) (credits to Agrab)
- Opera Mini 5 final, presigned - it will ask no permissions
- Mortscript 2.5 and a connection script- this will automatically initialize your default internet connection when clicking the Opera Mini shortcut, thus saving some seconds of waiting times.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- If you already have Opera Mini 5 installed and don't wan
t to loose your data (bookmarks, quicklinks), before installing my cab go to Opera Mini>Settings, click Opera Link and create an account (this is fast and easy). Than login and synchronize your data.
- Important: if you already have Opera Mini and jbed installed, uninstall them and navigate to Windows folder and delete the appdb folder. Note that you will loose any other java apps installed.
- Install the right cab for your device (it will automatically install into internal memory)
- Perform a reboot, to allow registry updating.
- Enter Opera Mini>Settings>Opera Link, login and synchronise your data.
NOTES:
There are two versions of the cab:
- W/QVGA version - this one has the classic logo of Opera Mini as shortcut image in start menu, and is more suitable for low res devices. However, it works ok on W/VGA too.
-W/VGA version - this one uses the Opera icon part of Anastasia Iconset created by Dinik. This version is wm6.5/6.5.x only!
The font sizes are optimized for high resolution. If you encounter problems, post them here.
In this version of Jbed you are able to select all text in fullscreen edit mode by performing a double click. You can copy it if you use a keyboard which has copy-paste function (like Touchpal).
NEW RELEASE (April 22nd ):
- replaced Opera Mini 5.0.18365 with the very latest build 5.0.18741
- fixed security tap notification; now Opera Mini will install itself when clicking it's shortcut the first time.
- fixed the qvga cab; now you should have the right font sizes on qvga devices;
- these updates should fix the login issue reported in this thread
- I strongly suggest to all users who downloaded the previous versions to uninstall them and upgrade with these ones
UPDATE (April 27th )- ADDED CABS FOR MORE LANGUAGES:
For now, I only had the time to modify the WVGA version of my cab for 7 different languages. Will modify the QVGA cab for these languages as needed (by requests). If your language is not here, make a request; I'll consider to add other languages only based on at least 3 requests per language (however, I cannot promise).
DOWNLOAD
-Deutsch, Greek, Italian and Romanian see post #4 to get the cabs
-Polish, Russian and Swedish check post #6 to download
Known bugs:
- Esmertec Jbed doesn't respond well on screen rotation, occasionaly making Opera Mini bars go under system bars (this is a jbed problem). To make opera go back to normal exit the program (without closing it) and re-enter by clicking its shortcut in start menu (or Sense link ,today shortcut etc). recommend you deactivate G-sensor rotation for Jbed. To have Opera Mini in landscape just use it's dedicated option (under Opera's settings menu).
- on rare occasions Opera Mini refuses to connect. Just try again, it'll work.
- I noticed Opera Mini has problems with uploading long texts (it's a problem related to browsing timeouts). If you use it to post messages on forums, my advice is that you copy your text before you press the "Submit/Post" button. Sometimes you may find out that after you pressed submit, the browser just brings you to the last page, and your text has gone. This can be painful when you wrote a long text... but if you have copied it, it's easy to go again and just paste, then submit the text.
Congratulations man! I'll finish up the final version, to test the worth of your proposed applications. Keep up the good work.
Already posted on Opera Official Thread here:

(post 3)
Will compare versions and if not the same I´ll include it on the list
Thanks,
OK, I modified the WVGA version of my cab with Opera Mini in few different languages. Now the cabs are compressed. Each cab is tested on my device. To install, please uninstall previous versions and delete "appdb" folder within Windows directory.
Ok then, will add to official thread
Thanks,
OK, thank you!
PS: by creating this thread I didn't intend to hijack other people work. I just found my own way of compiling Opera Mini and Jbed in a convenient way and wanted to share this with the community.
Added cabs for Russian, Polish and Swedish:
Great news! Will surely mention this in my next Web browsing-related article.

Hello,
I used this cab and logged into a ppcgeeks account. logged out and an hour later logged in, took me to someone else's account on PPGgeeks. so I was logged in as another user. This may be a problem especially if other users are logging in to more secure sites. Just wanted to let you know.
What a great idea, this auto-connect addition! I downloaded the QVGA version, but the menus are huge on my Kaiser: I think it is a VGA/WVGA version... haven't tried the version called WVGA.
@Cerberus_tm, just go to this registry: HKLM\Software\Apps\Esmertec Java\Device Info\Java Font and change the values inside these 3 keys:
-Size large: 32 (change it to somewhere between 22-26);
-Size Medium: 28 (change it to 18 or 20)
-Size small: 23 (change it to 16 or less)
Do a reset , than go to opera mini settings and choose your font size. Now you should have the right font sizes for your qvga screen.

How strange! I must admit that this happened to me too once! I wanted to login to my xda account, but apparently the browser logged me into somebody else's account (I don't recall the nickname). I immediately logged out and tried again and this time it logged me in correctly, in my account. That was kinda' creepy, you know...
However, my cab contains clean components, like many other opera mini and jbed builds. Something tells me the problem comes from opera servers and this is why I strongly suggest to all users not to use Opera Mini to login to their sensitive accounts (paypal, ebay etc), as sending and receiving data through intermediate servers is very unsafe.
To all downloaders, if you encounter this nasty problem occuring when using this build of opera mini, please report here immediately, I'll take the necessary measures.
the login issue it happened to me just now when login into gmail.
the second time I opened gmail it showed me some other user inbox.
I remember that the last time I used opera mini java, it asked me to press on the touchscreen or type random letters to create some sort of unique key to increase security.
maybe you (accidentaly) disabled this on your cab?
the last time I used the java version was one of the betas, so maybe this random key is no longer needed on the final version.
edit: I tried the final version of opera mini with jbed and installing manually, and indeed it asked me to tap the touchscreen randomly to improve security. after that (and changing my gmail password) I have not encountered the login-as-other-user issue (yet)
optyqus said:
I can assure you it's not the same. My cab uses Mortscript to do autoconnect, and you don't have to do the crappy job with that "selector.utf" file, as the jar file is pre-signed and the application will ask the permissions only the first time it connects/downloads/reads user data.

Thank you for your post, it gave me an idea on what could be the cause of the problem. As the opera mini contained in this cab is practically preinstalled, it will not ask to do the security screen taps. I'll study a way on how to bring back those security taps, it appears they are indeed important. Again, thank you.
I removed the cabs from first post in order to prevent further downloading, I will re-upload them as soon as I find a fix in the matter.
OK, first post updated with fixed cabs (or at least I hope so ). The nasty login bug should be history now. Please read carefully the install instructions, they're updated accordingly to this latest release.
Great job man.
How about the option to install on hard drive or memory card . And option to set as default browser. Great app , you did a great job on this.
Thanks for sharing. Great work.
