Hello all.
I have a Ouku Horizon (p801w) bought through Lichtinthebox.com
I am very happy but I would like a other version of Android.
I'm no expert on this, so I ask your help.
Now I have:
Android 2.2.2
Baseband version iris_p800w_V1.20
Kernel 2.6.35.7 root @ scm-Perf # 3
Build number FRG83g
software version iris_p801w_V1.21
Hardware version IRIS_MP
I would like Gingerbread, but a newer version of Froyo is also good.
would you like to give to a HOW_TO?
hi
did you were able to rooted it?
I rooted mine but when I tried to backup the rom so I can flash a new one
it boot loops now I'm stuck...
boot ouku horizon : universal Androot still doesn't work
i tried androot on my ouku and it doesn't work. you say you managed to root it?
how did you do?
i'm on linux mint and my phone in on froyo.
I obviously tried to boot with the latest version of superoneclick. it opens properly etc BUT it keeps saying "waiting for device"
regards
How to get Root to flash this phone as described in the Russian forum forum.china-iphone.ru in this topic viewtopic.php?f=37&t=14382
careful though
i sure don't understand russian. according google translation, this just tells you how to use superoneclick on your ouku.
with me it didn't work so far.
i'm trying again and i'll come back with more info if it works. if there is no more message after that one, just make a educated guess.

Yeah me too.
Anyone of you guys is on 3 Australia?
I am tempted not to upgrade so I don't get into trouble rooting.
I wanted to wait to make sure there is root available before upgrading it.
here is a nice (though elaborate) guide to downgrading your rom so you can root it: theunlockr.com/2011/10/25/how-to-downgrade-the-g2-desire-z-desire-hd-and-mytouch-4g-back-to-froyo/
it's not the easiest guide, but it works from my experience.
still nothing happens
tried many tools, seems new HTC official 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 is patched against all available rooting methods, should wait a bit longer for a new tool to root
although there are some "HTC stock 2.3.5" that are rooted, but it requires removing the original os and replacing this one, such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235&page=12
if any one finds how this os was rooted plz help us, so we could root our existing os instead of replacing it
Hi all. New to the forum and brand new at rooting android phones. After a lot of reading and searching and trying I managed too achieve root last night on my Desire hd running 2.3.5 using the Ace Advanced Hack Tool. It took a few attempts for the phone to accept the downgrade. I had to run the hack tool several times to achieve this. In the end as the effin manual says I had to turn off all anti virus and close non essential programs. I also removed any anti virus apps from my phone. I don't know if it was coincidence or not but I was about to give up and had unplugged the USB cable and was in the bootloader menu about to reboot when all of a sudden it read the zip file on the SD card and downgraded the ROM. After that ran the Hack tool again and Now rooted, S off and Custom ROM (CM7) installed. One other quick thing, after installing CM7 on boot up it went into a boot loop. After searching found out you have to clear/reset factory settings and clear cache in custom recovery before flashing a new ROM. Hope this helps.
edit - forgot to mention I had the bootloader unlocked from HTCdev site but re locked it just before the downgrade started working.
Hi ALL,
Have you tried The Advanced Ace Hack Kit by attn1?

People it really works flawlessly...; just re-lock your bootloader if unlocked from HTCdev.com and use an empty, clean sd card... andof course read all the manual. Then you can let show begin They did such a BIG AND PERFECT work! i'm Amazed and impressed! thank's a lot people who made this possible.

RE: Rooting HTC Desire
Personally, I find SuperOneClick to work very well!
people
this STILL is not working..i am trying to use the AAHK kit
i have read the manual
i am now using a computer that has nothing but winXPpro and the htc drivers installed that came from the AAHK, no anti virus, no anti-malware, no apple sh*t, NOTHING ELSE
all i can think of is that my phone IS running one of the build versions that requires a downgrade as mentioned in the manual (details listed in my original post)
or
i DO have a HTC Dev Bootloader and its not locked as mentioned in the manual
i know nothing about locking or unlocking bootloaders, but Ive been to HTCDev, registered, logged in and tried to follow that process as follows:
i select my phone HTC DESIRE HD* (there is an asterix because "* Indicates HBOOT update required.")
continue through disclaimer and agree etc
download PD9810000_Ace_Sense30_S_hboot_2.00.0029.exe
when i run PD9810000_Ace_Sense30_S_hboot_2.00.0029.exe i get error saying i need to upgrade to 3.13.707.3 (On your phone, go to Menu>Settings>About phone> Software updates> CCheck now.
After you have updated, please run the RUU again to upgrade your HBOOT to unlock
Your phone. We apologize for the inconvenience)
i check for updates and there are no updates available for your phone
this is a staggeringly difficult and im really quite f*cked off i really cant see what im not doing, or, where to go from here
other people in asia seem to be having the issue with this phone, i found this website which google translated and it contains the EXACT steps i have taken please have a look
but of course, no i cant paste url's in here because i havent had 10 posts...honestly wtf
if you care to email me ill send you the link

Removing changes to update purchased M9
Hi guys, apologizes in advance for the (potentially) stupid questions. This is the first time I've had to work backwards so to speak...
I purchased a M9 from eBay in the US a few days ago. Everything is working fine, up until I tried to install the lastest software update (1.32.617.30). I get the error "htc system has been remounted r/w reflash the device to re enable ota updates". Digging a little deeper I find the bootloader is locked but it does have S-off. Not finding any evidence of a root but obviously it has been at some point. My question is, is is possible to restore the blocks to original (or force the update through) without any previous backups or even knowing the history of the phone? Would RUU developer edition work without knowing if it came from AT&T/factory unlocked ect?
Some other info if it matters:
Android 5.0.2
Software # 1.32.617.6
Kernel 3.10.49-gc7c4f20 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband 01.01_U11440221_59.04.50303G_2F
Build 1.32.617.6 CL493992 release-keys
Thanks in advance
Hi.
You can run the RUU. It's unlocked to work on all carriers, so don't worry.
Also, 1.31.617 isn't the latest software update, 2.11.617.15 is.
You can download the official RUU from HTC's US website.
Scroll down to the Manual System Update Instructions and read them. The RUU is at the end of the instructions.
This will return you to stock, and IT WILL also WIPE YOUR PHONE, so backup anything important to you.

Hello again, sorry to bother you guys but I'm seeing a surprising amount of conflicting information about this...
So I'm trying to upgrade to Nougat, but I'm having some troubles figuring out what I need to do for that.
I know I need to get my phone back to stock so I can accept the OTA update, but I'm not sure how to go about that.
My phone currently:
- Phone Model: HTC One A9 (Sprint - 2PQ93)

- Software Version: 1.60.651.4
- Root: Yes
- Recovery: TWRP v2.8.8.2_CPTB-TEST2
- S: ON
- Bootloader: Unlocked
- Software Status: Modified
So as far as I'm aware, I need to restore the Stock recovery (how?), re-flash the RUU for my current software version, and then... relock the bootloader? Maybe?
So my questions are...
- How do I actually restore the stock recovery?
- Are there any steps I'm missing?
- Do I need to re-lock the bootloader, or does that not matter?

=============== ORIGINAL POST ===============
Hello,
I'm basically at my wit's end and I'd just like to see if anyone knows whether it's actually possible to get Android 7.0 Nougat on my phone?
I currently have a rooted, RUU-updated 6.0.1 build of Android (Version Number: 1.60.651.4) running on a Sprint (so CDMA) HTC One A9 (Model Number: 2PQ9300). My phone is still S-On (I'm willing to pay for Sunshine if it'll actually work for me, but I'd like to confirm that first), and due to the updating process I do not currently have TWRP - that's easily fixed, however.
Mostly, I'd just like to know if there's a way to get Android 7.0 on my phone, as it is not the International version, while also retaining things like mobile data and calling.
So far, I've looked into simply flashing the RUU (seems to be both not compatible with my phone version, and also has the signing issue mentioned Here), however with the signing issue I'd have to OTA update first so that's not relevant.
I've looked into Sunshine for S-OFF as well as This thread to convert to the "Unlocked" version that has the update, however I'm seeing comments about it not being compatible with the Sprint edition.
I've most recently tried to follow This guide, however I've had no luck and I'm still seeing talk of random reboots, dropped calls, and the like.
Basically, if there's any way I can get Android 7.0 Nougat on my phone, I would love to know how - if I can't (reasonably), then I'd also like to know that so I can stop beating my head into the wall, so to speak
Thanks!

So far, the CDMA versions of the A9 can't run Nougat. As you know, HTC hasn't updated it for Nougat, and our phones run different enough firmware from the GSM-Locked and Dev versions that we can't use theirs. And so far, HTC's Dev Nougat requires Nougat firmware. So... we're boned.
Hopefully this won't be forever; HTC should eventually update American phones, so we'll just have to factory reset from system image (and maybe RUU) and OTA. For now, we can only hope guys like Captain_Throwback figure out how to backport Nougat to the 1.60.651.4 firmware.

Woo! Just saw the notification. So now the question is if TWRP will work with 7.0 on our phones.. I think I'd rather keep root than upgrade and lose it if there's a choice.

I saw, but I'm not sure what's going on in the thread right now. It seems it sometimes bootloops? I'm hesitant to upgrade until there's either an RUU for 2.whatever out or I'm sure TWRP is reliable. I'm resigning myself to living without Xposed, but I at least need root and Magisk.

Whelp.
I'm upset, lol.
Time to re-reset my phone (finally got it set back up the way I wanted it yesterday on 6.0.1)
Oh well, thanks for the heads up!
I have the Sprint a9. I flashed the ruu and flashed TWRP 3.0.3-1 I believe, with no issues
Okay, so before I go re-wipe my phone and upgrade, I have a few quick questions...
1) Can this update be flashed with S-ON? (I'm assuming so, but always good to check) and
2) Can the Sprint A9 be rooted on Nougat yet?
Thanks!
I used TWRP 3.0.3.-4 and root with Magisk. Still miss Xposed, but the N features are pretty nice too. All seems to be working well.

If you don't have an unmodified system image from before you mounted the system partition then yes, you do have to use an RUU, which will also give you stock recovery. No, you don't need to do anything with the bootloader.
Flash the RUU for the version you're on now, start up normally and take the OTA. No, I didn't have to do anything special besides making double checking /system is mounted read-only in TWRP. Personally I like using Magisk for root, etc, but I've heard SuperSU works fine. too. I'm S-on as well and it was all very easy.

You can't flash a nougat ruu (2.xx.xxx.x) on a phone running the marshmallow firmware (1.xx.xxx.x). You need to manually update your firmware to 2.xx.651.x before being able to flash the 2.18.651.2 RUU. This is because the new signature key implemented in all 2.xx.xxx.x ruu, explained here at faq #4
Or you can flash the older 1.60.651.4 ruu and after, update your phone using OTA updates. Probably the easiest way for you :good:
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_HIA_AERO_WHL_M60_SENSE7GP_SPCS_MR_Sprint_WWE_1.60.651.4.exe
This seems to be of great help to me, but am afraid i can't install the OTA in my device, b'se I received it and i did downloaded it but when i click to install it finish unzipping file and then fail and the phone boots in TWRP recovery so i thought i can update it by running a RUU side load
