[Q]Question about restoring by Titanium Backup - Android Apps and Games

Hi, pretty newbie to use Titanium backup here. I did fully backup after i installed, so everything saved in the sd folder, no problem. then i copied the folder to the pc. for trying some new rom, i wiped everything, even partitioned sd after wiping. after flashing and other setup, i re-installed titanium backup. To restore everything, i copied the folder from pc to sd then(folder name exactly match the main page shows in titanium), but it seems titanium didnt "reconize" those backup files. I mean, for the option in the menu-->batch, the counts for "Verify all your backup", or "Restore all your backups" doesn't match what i used to have.
So what should I do now for restore? did i miss some settings? Thanks in advance for instruction.

nv mind, it seems i figured it out

[Q] Cant restore backed up apps with Titanium?

I used Titanium Pro to back up all the apps and bloatware on my G2X. When I try to restore any of the ones I have un-installed the restore option is not there. I think it may have something to do with the external - internal sd card. I also keep loosing the icons to some of my apps (the ones on sd) inside the folder on my home screen. How do I restore these apps that I have backed up??
Ps I have used titanium many times on my rooted cliq with no problems.
my backups are on the internal sd.i've restored a few times with no problem i haven't updated mine though. using an older apk. i've read people are having issues here and there with titanium. so i'm sticking with my old version.

IMHO Titanium Backup has always been great with user apks, but very lacking with system apks. I'm not sure if it's trying to actually "install" system apks or what, but I've never had any luck with it.
Anyway, you should be able to just push the apks back to your /system/app/ from one of the roms or backups you can find here.
Have you checked the path to the folder that your backups are in with TB?
There is an option to change it in settings. You may have to reboot after changing it.
gonna give that a shot. Thanks.
Having trouble with my Titanium Backup. I backed up all my user apps + data, wiped and installed a new ROM. After getting it back up w/ new ROM, market, install titanium (w/ pro key) and go to restore apps. None of my backups show up. Batch > "Restore missing apps with data", shows 0 apps. When I go Preferences > Backup folder location it shows the folder (mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup) with all my backups it in, even says "This folder contains 62 backups".
Any help on how to restore these would be greatly appreciated.

On the folder location screen choose detect and choose whole phone. It will search for the directory your backups are in. If that doesn't work then i'm guessing you may have formatted the location where your backups existed.
Try this..

What happens when you install CM7 is that the sdcard directory now points to your external sd card rather then the internal that comes with the phone.
the internal is now at /mnt/emmc
Get root explorer and you will see what I'm talking about.
Once you have root explorer just copy the titanium backup folder from /mnt/emmc to /sdcard and you should be able to restore all user apps with data... however DO NOT restore system data from stock to CM7... big headaches.
Hope this helps!

Used TGA_Gunnman's steps in order to Root from 2.3.3, need new ROM?

Hello,
So as the title says, I used TGA_Gunnman's steps in order to Root from 2.3.3,
and would like to test out a better ROM. I'm thinking about trying a ROM
that's not as buggy.
Is it possible to backup all my installed apps before proceeding
assuming I can even install a new ROM in the state my phone is in?
Thx in advance...
TTT...pls help..ty.

I use Titanium Backup Free from the market. Under preferences change the default backup location to your external SD card. Go to batch and chose "backup all user apps". To be extra safe, copy the backup created by TI to your computer for safe keeping.
Created Back up...
Here's what I've done...
*I entered ClockworkMod Recovery (via pwr button +down volume) and
created back up there.
Where are the back ups stored so I can delete old one?
*Can I still restore to backup I created after factory reset?
Thank you.

Use a file explorer and look on your external SD card for the file called Clockworkmod/backup/the date of the backup.
I mentioned Titanium Backup because it has been full proof for me restoring my user apps from Rom to Rom.
Yes, you should be able to retore after a factory reset or trying another Rom.
So when I factory reset via clockworkmod, then I can re-enter recovery
there and restore to last backup? So this means all the stock apps I
removed will be there right?

Keep in mind not backing up your Apps, you will loose them putting on another rom. Use the above mention for the App backup.
Don't I already have the back up that I created within Clockworkmod
or do I need to use another program like TI to back up?

FINALLY able to install new roms, tried weopon...but when I re-install
TI to restore back up, I don't get most of everything back
(pics, apps, contacts, etc)...
perhaps I backed up incorrectly...will try and repeat steps.
In the meantime, I had to restore to my saved image
via clockwork.

Pictures and contacts shouldn't be changing around as you should have contacts backed up through gmail, and your pictures should be saved on your sdcard. Application and data like ringtones and phone setup should be restored if done properly through titanium backup or something similar.

I would suggest restoring the original backup you made. Then use TI to back up all your user apps as I described above.
Next step - install your new rom, then restore your apps from TI. Again, be sure to change the default save location of TI to your external SD card before you make the backup of your apps.
There is a ton of info on these topics. So much so that it can be a little confusing. Let me know if you have more questions.
Feel free to hit the thanks if anyone's advise helps you.
So i'm finally good on flashing ROMS but TI is a bit touchy for me.
When I restore the backup I made in the "Batch File" area,
do I restore do I run...when I tried the one that says restore all
apps and user data, I had to individullay install each one...
perhaps this is due to me using the free version???
Will TI backup all my contacts too and the contents of my SD card?

Backup problem after flashing.

So just the other night I flashed Synergy r66 on my phone and I have already done this once before but still followed the steps provided. After it loaded once, I opened up Titanium Backup to get my apps back and I realized that the backup I created was gone. It had been deleted by something. I then check my rom manager app which not to my surprise, had its backup deleted as well. I am entirely confused on why this would happen. I am also having problems viewing my extsdcard in any application. It shows up under storage in the settings but when I try and make the backup directory on my ext card, it doesn't show the folder for it.

What recovery are you using and are you sure you didn't tell it to format your sd card.
If you connect to your pc can you see it?

Titanium Backup -- unable to restore, folder empty

I flashed a new ROM yesterday. I swear I backed up my apps and data with Titanium backup (onto my SD card) but when I tried to restore apps, they are no where to be found. Per instructions, I wiped cache and davlik folder after I flashed my new ROM.
Here is what I have done so far: Titanium backup > menu> preferences> backup folder location > /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup . When I click detect, it says "no backup location found".
I used ROM manager to backup ROM before flashing the new ROM, not sure if this also backs up the apps and ther data that I had on the phone. This will really suck if I lost everything as I have so many documents on the phone.
I am in desperate need for help. Any help will be appreciated.
Sorry for the stupid question... Did you tick the selection to search whole device?

You should choose to restore the contents of, but can be restored some programs back is can't use. But not as you say nothing at all, you must have made a mistake, software wouldn't, at the same time with titanium backup directory in the memory card, you have to go to the next, backup the files if you have that can restore normal

Titanium Backup - Can't restore apps+data after flash

Hi guys, I recently just flashed CM 12.1 w/ Android 5.1.1 on my Zenfone 2.
Before doing that, I backed up my apps+data using Titanium Backup. After flashing, I transferred back the Titanium Backup folder in the internal storage where it originally was. I then re-installed Titanium Backup. Unfortunately, there's 0 apps that can be restored according to Titanium Backup. I even checked the Storage location and it even showed my backups.
Help ASAP. TIA
Install the apps before backup. It might work.

Hi there...how did you solve the problem?
I also have the same problem...I backed everything up then flashed cyanogenmod Marshmallow 6.0.1 then after flash copied all the backup folder back to internal memory so it can be seen by Titanium backup app and still doesn't work...it doesn't see anything...although it sees the location and the files under titanium backup/preferences/Backup Settings...Backup Folder Location..but in the app I cannot see any of the apps I backed up...how can I solve the problem..please help me
i think titanium needs to be updated to the latest version. the older version somehow doesn't work and don't see the backups properly (on my stock z3c pre rooted rom). after I installed the latest version, it worked like a charm
WARNING: Titanium doesn't backup the media folder for Whatsapp nor Wechat. backup the media that you want manually before flashing. the chatlogs are backed up properly

Hi Everyone
Sorry for digging up an old topic but I have a very similar situation and almost got gray hair already
Did anyone found a solution to the issue from opening post ?
Here's what I have done (and already regret it
- I was on stock 5.1.1 android for xperia z1 compact D5503
- I have installed Kingroot to remove some bloatware applications through titanium backup.
- Then I have made a backup of all applications of my interest (sms/mms, k9-mail etc.) and copied that to a folder on external sd card.
- Then I came over idea of Pre-rooted stock roms. Performed that (downgrade to 4.4.4, root, dual recovery, instal pre-rooted rom from zip).
- Installed TiBackup, copied all backups from sd to internal memory.
- Opened TiBackup - mind blown - no apps with backups.. In Preferences - Folder backups are shown.
Any ideas? Corrupted backups? That would make me very sad
Any help much appreciated.

OK,
I have solved the riddle. So easy and obvious that I didn't notice.
When I was doing all the stuff from the post above I was using sd card reader.
So to be on the safe side - i have copied all SD card content to win10 PC.
Then when I thought I was ready - copied all to 1 folder "Stuff" and then to SD card.
What I have missed was that during that process file extensions were changed. So all *.properties were now *.properties.txt and all *.bzip were *.bzip.zip and so on.
So my problem is solved. Perhaps someone else could use it too.
Best regards
ky0q
thanks a lot .. that solve my problem
Yeh, SD card to the rescue!
