Anyone has the native camera apk? I deleted mine being a idiot, and I know I can just use the update service and repair but truthfully that's a lot work because of restoring data, root etc when I can just install one app :-\
(I have this thread in general but I'm making it in here too because I'm not sure if general was the right place to post it and its important so I didn't want to wait for it to be moved if it ever will)

thank you but it won't install. Sigh I'll just have to do it the hard way =/
You might need to push them both to /system/app/ (in root directory before sdcard) n then try instal using root explorer or similar?

I tried all of that but it didn't work
hi maybe you must give the apk and odex permissions
put the two files apk and odex on your sdcard
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
dd if=/sdcard/SemcCameraApplication.apk of=/system/app/SemcCameraApplication.apk
chmod 644 /system/app/SemcCameraApplication.apk
dd if=/sdcard/SemcCameraApplication.odex of=/system/app/SemcCameraApplication.odex
chmod 644 /system/app/SemcCameraApplication.odex
reboot
or copy the two files with rootexplorer (mount r/w) into sytem/app and give them with a long press on apk and odex the permissions and check
User- read and write
Group- read
Others- read
then reboot
i hope it works for you
try it with ADB on your pc and flash a new theme with a camera.apk...
that is the method of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742821
i hope you understand what i mean...
and i hope that it should work for you
Could you pls post theapk directly i have problems accessing the link
Pls post the apk
here you go.

this is a market link to the es file explorer app. download it press menu button- go to settings- go down to root- select it and grant permission and then mount system as writable with it right below it. then copy the camera.apk to the system/app folder and your done.(to get there press favorites then choose the second icon then go down to system)
download any rom and open it with winrar find there semccamera or something and enjoy  i did this several times when deleted something important, besids you have done root... :highfive:

Hello,
I have rooted my X10 and I have R2BA020 and I have removed some apps with Titanium, nothing like Mediascape or Timescape. I have removed Moxier, GTalk, Quadrapop and user manuals. Obviusly I have uninstalled something that I shouldnt ( me IDIOT didnt make backup of those apps in Titanium !! ). Now whenever I start my phone I get this message that it has failed to start and I must press Force close. I have found some solution that I delete data from Google Apps and Gmail in Settings -> Applications but it seems to work one time because when I entered my data again in Gmail I got it again when I boot my phone.
Please, can anybody help me ? Maybe give me GTalk and other app that was below it as .apk so I can install it ?
Tnx a lot !
Removing GTalk was a terrible idea.
I see that now I have found X10 dump and installed Talk.apk and gtalkservice.apk and I got GTalk icon but when I press it I get that message again. I dont get it when I go in Gmail or Market, they are working.
Any other help, please ?

You have to push them to /system/app, not just installed regularly
Ok, thanx. How do I do that ? I really have no idea how to do this, I have installed them only like any other .apk.
Thank you very much !
Assuming you put the two apks on your sdcard..
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtd2 /system
dd if=/sdcard/gtalkservice.apk of=/system/app/gtalkservice.apk
dd if=/sdcard/Talk.apk of=/system/app/Talk.apk
chmod 644 /system/app/Talk.apk
chmod 644 /system/app/gtalkservice.apk
reboot
I put them on root of SD card right ?
Only one last thing, how and where should I copy&paste those commands ? Can you please tell me step by step, I would really appreciate it because I dont want to flash my phone again. Connect the phone on my PC and then Start -> Run or how ? I can see that you are professional and it is very hard for me to understand how to do this.
Thank you SO MUCH !
Android terminal app, YOU NEED NOT WORRY ABOUT THE COMMANDS BUT CAN MANUALLY COPY THE INSTALLED APP FILE FROM sdcard/gtalkservice.apk TO SYSTEM/APP/ ENABLING R/W OPTION TOP LEFT IN ROOT EXPLORER.
I need terminal app on my phone or on my PC ? Here:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.android.term
Manually copy this Talk.apk and gtalk.apk file to system/app ? How can I do that ? I dont know how to enter system/app folder on my phone ? Also those read-write permissions, where do I change that ? Can I do it with Astro File Manager ?
Please explain me like to an idiot coz Im not far from that
And on the end, should I uninstall Talk.apk and other one first since I have installed them just like regular .apk app ?
Is this Root Explorer that I need:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
Tnx a million !
I go in this Root Explorer and cannot copy Talk.apk from SDCard to system/app, it says that file system is read only. When I long press on Talk.apk in SDCard and go in Permissions there is no tick in User row, only in Group, then I tick Read and Write and OK but when I press ok ticks are gone again and I cannot copy that in system/app folder then.
Please guide me how to do it.

They need to be signed with the same signature as the system afaik. You'll need GTalk and the other app from an x10 build.
I have downloaded Talk.apk and gtalkservice.apk from X10 dump. What do I need more ? I think I will have to flash the phone again since obviusly there is no solution for this...
Tnx
Hey,
I had the same pb and the code on the 1st page worked for me.
Put those 2 .apk files on the root folder of your sdcard.
Write the code on 1st page in Better Terminal. Reboot and you're done !
Good luck
Nope, I have tried it but nothing happened with those last 2 chmod commands and I have reflashed my firmware again and not touching GTalk app
Tnx for the info
Hey guys,
I just rooted my phone, and haven't removed ANY of the google apps and I'm getting this same error... Any ideas?
X
wouldn't hurt to try a re-root
I get also same error, even i've not removed Gtalk. Gtalk works properly
i found these apps so that the error is not repeated all the apps should moved to system/app folder using 644 permissions
i have attached the files at the end
Removed Gtalk
ok, so yesterday I was using Gtalk on my samsung captivate to chat with some friends, until i wanted to sign out and go onto another of my google accounts to chat with other people. but when i clicked sign out it simply closed the app then when i reopened it, it was still on my other account. well me being the impatient person that i am decided to use my root power and remove gtalk and try to reinstall it later.....WRONG.... now i keep getting an error... (com.google.process.gapps. has unexpectedly closed. well i though ill just factory reinstall getting rid of the error. so Now i cant download anything on android market to get the explorer back because i cant use 3rd party apps again because my settings.db was reset! so i need lots of help.. running Ubuntu 10.04 so that makes the process even harder for a noob like me -.- any help is appreciated in advance

Ive got it granted super user access and a temporary root. do i need to do with without the temp root?

I just unlocked and rooted my nexus s. Now im trying to stop the phone from reinstalling the custom recovery image and all im getting is problems.
I put in the command
mount-o rw,remount/dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
And every single time i get
mount-o : permission denied
Anyone have any ideas? im worried about rebooting my phone now cause i don't want to go through the whole process again. After reading around on XDA it doesn't seem like you are required to do this. Does anyone know if it will reinstall the custom recovery image if i don't do this step? I have searched everywhere to figure out the problem. But stilll im coming up with nothing. I have found people with other devices that have this problem. But nothing about fixing it.
If anyone has any ideas i really need help ASAP
try and grant yourself superuser & then try.
"su"
"mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system"
You need a space after mount. -o specifies the mount options. The command is mount
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
aye, didn't notice that, couple of needed spaces. I've modified my original post.
Thanks i tried it but now it says mount-o not found.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
If it says mount-o not found there's not a space between mount and -o.
mount -o remount,rw .........

Sorry I read the post about the space after I posted it. But of course I'm having more problems sorry for being such an idiot.
After putting su the command works. But then I try
Mv install-recovery.sh install-recovery-no.sh
It says no such file found. Sorry if I sound like an idiot. It's just rooting my Nexus S is much harder than it was to root my old mt3g.

No Android expert but I have experience with the CL. Pretty sure you're going to need to cd into the dir or write the full path to the file.
BTW what are the cool kids using for command line these days? Any of them have tab type features? ex: cd /syst<TAB>/me<TAB> for cd /system/media/

I just used root explorer to rename the install-recovery.sh to install-recovery-no.sh. It disabled it from flashing over the clockwork mod recovery on reboot. After disabling it I flashed clockwork recovery again permanently.
Edit: The file is in the etc folder.

you have to include the path
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
mv /etc/install-recovery.sh /etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
or
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cd /etc
mv install-recovery.sh install-recovery.sh.bak
It's really just a lot easier with Root Explorer. If you use root explorer app, you have to push the little button at the top that says "mount r/w" or something like that. I usually do that rather than run the mount command, because I always forget the syntax for that one.
Yeah just hit the "mount R/W" button on top when u open Root Explorer. It changes to "Mount R/O" and u can rename it after that.

Ok everyone. Here is the lockscreen mod, power menu AND additional clock options for KC1. This will NOT work on Krylon's stock build but ONLY my deodexed one. Since there is no cwm yet you will need to push the files manually with adb or use root explorer to drop them in. Root Explorer is the easiest method. Just be sure to set permissions on all the files to rw-r--r-- after you copy them in.
Lockscreens are Rotary (default), Puzzle, Android, Glass, Epic and Star Wars (Settings > Display > Unlock Screen)(Please be aware - Lockscreen wallpapers are not supported on any of these)
Power Menu (no header) - Reboot, Recovery, Download mode
Clock Options - Hide Clock, Hide am/pm (Settings > Date and Time)
Added "Stay Awake" option (Settings > Applications > Development)
Pretty sure I killed the "battery full" pop-up as well
DOWNLOAD <<<<< KC1 Lockscreens / Power Menu / Clock Options
If using adb here is what to do...
Place the files in the zip in your adb tools folder. Navigate to your tools folder in your cmd prompt and perform these commands
First, mount your system as r/w
Code:
adb shell
su (will need to accept root access on phone)
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
Your system is now mounted as read/write. Now remove the original files from your phone.
Code:
rm /system/framework/framework-res.apk
rm /system/framework/framework.jar
rm /system/framework/android.policy.jar
rm /system/framework/services.jar
rm /system/app/Settings.apk
exit
exit
Now push the new files into place.
framework files to framework folder
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb push framework.jar /system/framework
adb push android.policy.jar /system/framework
adb push services.jar /system/framework
Settings to app folder
Code:
adb push Settings.apk /system/app
Now the files are all in place, but you need to set the correct permission on them.
Code:
adb shell
su
chmod 644 /system/framework/framework-res.apk
chmod 644 /system/framework/framework.jar
chmod 644 /system/framework/android.policy.jar
chmod 644 /system/framework/services.jar
chmod 644 /system/app/Settings.apk
DONE. Now reboot your phone. It will take about 5 minutes to reboot.
Again, you can use Root Explorer to move these files into place manually. Just be sure to set the permissions of all of them to rw-r--r-- after you do.

I would honestly learn the basics before you try any of this.
i allready flashed stock deodexed kc1 rom onto my phone in hopes of putting on the lockscreens but i just wanted to know if the root explorer method was easier like he stated up there
I really want these....but its quite painful setting up all my sync'ed accounts again after flashing. I went from Deodexed to Krylon's Odexed Stock, to go back to Deodexed would be a painful process again to get all my accounts set back up and app's loaded + moved to SD. Also fixing the camera/mms/phone issue with the Deodexed ROM on top of that.
Anybody else have any thoughts? Just do it? Haha

I used ES File Explorer, go into settings, and check the two boxes in Root setting.
Then go to the directory where the zip is saved, extract and copy paste to the right directories. Once that was done I rebooted. It took 5 min or so to boot but It came up. Once done go into settings and change lockscreen.
Worked like a charm for me. Thanks!!!

Oh boy, so I was able to do this via ADB.
But thought I would also try and do it with Root Explorer. I am bored at my job today.
I copied the files to the sdcard. Then opened Root explorer, located the files, using multi- select I selected all but the settings file that goes into the system/app.
I then hit copy/ then tried to paste the four files to system/framework
I get an error that says there isn't enough space. Then I get all sorts of force closes, and have to re-odin the deodexed KC1.
What the hell am I doing wrong? I am sure I am just having a brain fart but its becoming irritating.

Hi all.. Having a problem changing the system background on my daughters x10.. (The background you get behind all the system menus and apps like calculator and calendar etc..)
I did this on my Arc recently and it was a doddle - once I'd got the images cropped to the right size..
So here's what I did on the X10.
Copied the framework-res.apk to the SD card
Opened it using 7zip
navigated to res\drawable-hdpi
replaced the semc_bg and semc_general_bg images with the new ones I'd created.
then navigated to res\drawable-land-hdpi and replaced the semc_bg image in there.
copied the file back into the system folder.
changed the permissions to rw-r--r--
copied it to framework folder...
phone reboots and then gets stuck at sony ericsson white logo screen...
reflashed using SEUS twice now!..
On the Arc I also had to amend the image files in another place.. SemcGenericUxpRes\res
but I don't seem to have that folder on the x10...
Thanks.

What rom/firmware are you on?
How are you moving the framework-res?

Try moving it using adb push. Or use adb mask controller or x10 mod tool if you like/need a gui. You could also make a zip for xrecovery if you have it installed. Root explorer method never worked for me on x10 either...

adb should work just fine. Also have you installed recovery ? If no do it and take nandroid before doing it. It would go back to just like it was before.
Yea, xrecovery is super-easy to install & well worth it. Plus you (or one of us) could add the framework-res into a flashable zip we know will work.
BTW, there is a free version of titanium... &/or xrecovery will back up your entire phone as realunited said.
Thanks - Yeah - realised there was a free version after I posted - got it mixed up in my head with Root Explorer!.. yes - have xrecovery on there too.. is nandroid on the market? or is it part of xrecovery - not used it for a few months..
Cheers.
It just means using the backup option in xrecovery. There is a tut for making xrec zips in the dev section or post the framework-res here & I can look at it later when I get home.

It looks like it didn't get the su permission. Check your phone after typing su. If you want i can make a zip to flash.
Hi - Yeah it got the SU ok.. don't really know why it wasn't working - Think it may be to do with the way I was using ADB push - I was trying to push the file directly into the system or framework folders.. x10 mod tool pushed it to a "SD" folder first then ran another shell command to replace it in the framework folder.. don't really know enough about it !!.. anyway.. got it working via x10modtool.. just need to figure out how to do the same now for the phone and phonebook.. presume it's a PNG within those individual apps?
When making a ZIP.. does it need to be a complete system image or can you just zip the framework-res file on it's own and zip that via xrecovery?
Cheers!

Just drag the framework-res.apk into the framework folder without extracting it. After that just flash it.
so presumably I would need to either ADB pull the whole FRAMEWORK folder first? or take a copy using a file manager (AKA root explorer etc)..?
